Or you could also hold the link and "save as." It might show up as a .bin, rename it to the .IMG and you should be good.

Hi all, I've been looking for CWM Touch Recovery 6.0.3.0 for my Rogers i747m (d2can) everywhere.
I've only been able to find the MetroPCS or the AT&T version (d2att). Since the AT&T version is the same as the Telus, Rogers, Bell, Fido, Koodo, Sasktel, MTS version. I removed the d2att check from the zip file script during recovery installation.
Just flash from recovery on your i747m device and away you go. Enjoy

Zip File for CWM Touch
Thank you for keeping this thread updated!
I just installed the touch one on my S3 today with ADB. I don't see much change from version to version.
When I was more active in the S2 Skyrocket forums someone would always post a zip of the regular veresion and Touch version for easy flashing. It'd be nice to have a version for those who don't want to use ADB. I believe you need linux to convert the .IMG to a .ZIP. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Is TWRP better than CWM or just a preference thing?
In my experience I think TWRP is a little faster but I like the Rom Manager CWM experience a little bit more than GooManager TWRP experience.

Before converting did you rename the img file so it would be accepted by odin?
Like boot.img, cache.img or in your case recovery.img

ROM Manager does not see CWM Recovery

Hi guys, new to rooting and android in general.
I have a GS3 with Videotron and I root the device with a older version of CWM.
I installed ROM manager but it always says that CWM Recovery is not installed on my device.
So I went ahead and updated CWM to the lastest version (Not touch), but I still have the same issue.
From what I saw our device should be supported by ROM Manager.
Is there something I am doing wrong ?
Thanks a lot !
how did you update cwm? I had to do it through Rom manager

I did it in console because ROM Manager says CWM is not installed, so I can't update.
It tells me I have the latest recovery but I have the touch recovery 4.8.4.5 or something... I installed through terminal though.

If I can't get Rom Manager to work the other way to backup is doing it from recovery directly ?
Thanks !
EDIT : I guess I should add that when I try the option Flash CWM Recovery my the Galaxy S3 is not in the device list.

My guess for this is that you have the T999V. I would think they woulda covered that when adding support for the s3, but maybe they missed it?
Check the cwm website and email them if you cant find confirmation of this either way.

Yup, it's not there.
Problem with recovery being able to mount the partitions.
It won't mount anything, data, system, cache, internal or external sdcards
I've read post from a handful of people who, like myself, have gotten their phone very recently. All experiencing the same problem.
I've gotten root by flashing a stock rom thru ODIN with it already installed but I'm dying for my Vanilla Android, touchwiz is making me sick :crying:

I am also having a problem with all CWM versions I've tried on my two 3-day old Sprint Samsung Galaxy S3 phones. It doesn't matter which recovery (or version) I flash, nothing mounts so you cannot see the internal or external SD, cannot flash anything, cannot wipe anything, etc. This seems to be a problem with very new S3's with all custom recoveries.

[Q] Having Trouble Flashing CyanogenMod 10

So I successfully rooted my S3 (Bell I747M), installed TWRP recovery, booted into the recovery, created a backup (thank god!), wiped using TWRP (factory reset -> wipe dalvik -> wipe cache -> wipe data) and then went into install, selected the CyanogenMod zip and swiped to flash. Failed. Every time. I tried numerous wipes but flashing CM just kept on failing. So I got fed up and restored to my backup.
But I really want CM! One more maybe-important thing is that when I was installing TWRP, it said my device was d2can, even though my device is actually I747M. But I remember when downloading CM I had to download the d2att version (that was listed as the one compatible with my I747M), but TWRP was saying d2can and not giving me the option to choose anything else so I just went with it.
Please try and help me!
Did you download the d2att version of cm?

Hmm alright, are you able to flash any other roms?
I had a similar issue and im trying to recall what I did to overcome this..
EDIT: I think I remember. I flashed a different CWM version and for some reason it prevented me from flashing CM10.1.. Do a google search for "CanadaGS3CWM6.0.1.2.tar" and let me know if it works. If you cant find it shoot me a PM and ill look for it.
Thanks for the reply.
I haven't tried flashing any other room but I have successfully flashed a debloating software made by mrRobinson.
Also‚ I'm not using CWM‚ I'm using TWRP. I installed it through the GooManager app found in the Play store.
If I have already installed TWRP then will I still be able to install that CWM file you are suggesting I install?
It is late now and I am going to bed but I'll be back on tomorrow evening to try again so I'll try what you said then.

I think the issue is that I'm trying to flash a d2att ROM on a TWRM that thinks I'm on a d2can device when in reality I'm on an I747M. The d2att is said to work on the I747M on CyanogenMod's website though so I think the issue is flashing the d2att when TWRP thinks I'm on a d2can.
Anyone have a clue as to what to do about that?

Yup just in odin like a root file. It goes in the pda section. Uncheck reboot,. When it finishes unhook the cable pull the battery and than reboot into recovery after. Sometimes the flash doesn't stick after a reboot.
Cm10.1 has a release candidate out right now rc4 it's pretty stable.
You'll need to make sure your bootlader is up to date before you flash it though.

The second link has the latest boot loaders sorry I should have mentioned that. It has to match the one listed.
I don't know what you downloaded but the twrp recovery off their site should be the .tar to load in odin. The .img file you'd have to load using adb. Easier to use the odin file. No unzipping just flash with odin.

Could you please tell me what method was used? I have a Bell GS3 as well. I followed this tutorial http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1739426 to get root and recovery today. I have now tried flashing CM10.1 using the latest CWM and TWRP d2att recoveries and neither work. I'm giving up for today but will try again after work tomorrow. I've read stuff about changing the build.prop files to trick the phone but I don't know where to start.

Download cf-root. This will root the phone. Download and extract it. You will want to flash the MD5 file in PDA section in Odin. Here: http://download.chainfire.eu/269/CF-Root/CF-Auto-Root/CF-Auto-Root-d2can-d2vl-sghi747m.zip
If you want to install a custom recovery afterwards use these instructions:

The instructions are for CWM but the same applies for TWRP
I have done this on my Bell S3, I guarantee it to work.

Flash the zip in recovery, tar in Odin. Your choice.
If you have the T999L TWRP doesn't have a recovery specifically for it. And I am glad they don't. Only use d2tmo (T999) recoveries. Otherwise your just adding one more reason some roms won't flash.

Thanks Doc. I definitely have the t999, not the L or any other version. I don't know why goomanager isn't recognizing it, I'll try flashing the zip in recovery. I forgot how much I don't like CWM.
The reason y'all are getting the errors with the goo manager app is because the servers have been down since Friday. They are replacing the servers, they have been warning for couple of months that they were doing it. They've said they will announce on their twitter when it's back up and running.
Are you running a custom Rom? Or flashed a mod? Sometimes the software you flash will report it as being different.
For example, I have a T999, but have posts all over here with T999L, T999V and T999N in the Sig!

Good to know, thank you for that info. I'm currently using eweman's srx 1.8 rom, it's just a standard 4.1.2 TW rom with a theme. I successfully flashed twrp through recovery so it's all good, I was just wondering why it wasn't working through Goo, now I know.

GOO Manager wouldn't download the .d2tmo.img from twrp. Should i use the d2tmo.tar or d2tmo.tar.md5 when using Odin?

Update: I used the .d2tmo.tar via Odin and all is well! I have TWRP 2.6.3.1
Thanks, Doc
