Hey guys! Check out Locket, a new Android app that pays you for unlocking your phone
This is the greatest idea ever!
The app replaces your usual lockscreen with a nice sleek one that displays ads. You can choose to ignore the ad or go to it, either way you get money! The ads look nice as well, check out the link:

It may seem like a scam, but it's not. Google about the app and you'll see that many good websites have talked about it, such as PCMag, ABC News, and Engadget! So I HIGHLY RECOMMEND it.

Then so be it. You don't have to download it. I go on my phone alot, unlocking my screen. All those unlocks give me a penny, and at the end of day I'll get more then I expect.

From AndroidCentral:
So, how much are you going to get paid with Locket? The truth is, not much. This is a long-term play, at best, and even then you're not going to be buying much more than a six-pack with your spoils. You get the impression using Locket that you get 1 cent per unlock. But the truth — and this isn't anywhere in the fine print that we've seen, only in other published reports — is that it's capped at 3 cents per hour. Any unlocks beyond that — and the ads you view — are money in someone else's pocket. Not yours. (At the time of this writing, Locket hasn't responded to an e-mail seeking confirmation and clarification on the 3-cents-per-hour cap.)
Doing the math, that's a max of 72 cents a day. Or $5.04 a week. Or $262.80 a year — if you're unlocking your phone three times and hour, 24 hours a day. Which you won't be doing.
It's free money, but not worth giving up the security of a password lock to me. Or even the inconvenience of having TWO lockscreens. Raise the rates and play nicely with password locks, then we'll talk.
^^ Lol what a pain and no one likes ads. You could make more begging on the streets a couple times a year

I have been using locket. You can also disable the stock lock screen by going into the setting and selecting the lock screen option to: none. I guess there are people like myself with nothing on my phone to hide so I don't ever use a pass code at my lock screen. It's been about three weeks and I have 5 dollars lol

Just wait until someone releases a similar concept and then there will be competition and only then maybe we might get like 3cents ea unlock?

Looks like they finally added confirmation:
There is currently a limit of 3 swipe-cents per hour as stated in our FAQ page. In the future, we may offer a different rewards structure to maximize users' and advertisers' satisfaction. **
Anyway, neat find and I have to give it to the app developers. This is the first time I seen anyone excited about getting ads lol.

You're a damn fool! It is actually free in the market (just checked to confirm). I had installed it a few days ago and after playing with it for a little bit it wasn't just what I was looking for. It wasn't bad, just not everything I'm looking for.
i used that app on my tilt2 it was pretty nice, primarily the trace your phone from a computer and scream functions but its not absolutely necessary, now im using phonelocator pro pretty good app also
Sorry if I'm being dim, but when did the market refund policy change from 24 hours to 15 minutes?!
Did I miss an announcement? Has anyone else been caught out by this?
Just bought a couple of apps by mistake.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
The change was very recent. It does state at the Google Checkout page that refunds are available within 15 minutes, but if your not looking for it you wont see it.
Yeah it's gimp. It will take at least 15 minutes for the data for an app like, say, copilot to download to your sd card. In effect it means you can't trial apps like that one anymore.
Sent from my Gingerbread eating Desire HD.
I only briefly look at the checkout page, to make sure the payment details are correct. I would have expected a one time pop up box, like some apps give after an update. There was probably a new agreement when I upgraded the market and it was buried in the small print.
It's such an extreme change, an hour would be better, if it has to be lessthan a day.
Still, not much we can do about it I suppose...
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
I think it will be counter productive.
They changed it because devs were complaining that people were installing their apps, doing what they needed to to, then uninstalling and refunding. I'm kind of curious how they met this conclusion. Maybe people were trying the apps, finding they weren't for them and then refunding them.
Personally I'm a lot more reluctant to trial an app now if there is no free version I can test. I mean its so easy to forget or get interrupted during the 15min period then you may end up stuck with some crappy app you didn't really want.
I cannot believe you have sunk this low. I can live with banner ads claiming that Obama will help reduce my mortgage payment on the pages. But popup ads are the most obnoxious form I have ever seen. I have dropped several blogs permanently due to this.

Is really cool.
Thought I would post this here since the inc2 is my current phone. Not sure if it has been discussed yet.
I downloaded the siriusxm app about a month and a half ago. I sign up for the one week free trials alot whenever there is a special broadcast that I want to hear using my emails or a disposable email through 10 minute mail. I have mainly used it on my pc where the trial expires after a week.
Well last time I signed up I did it through the free trial button on the app itself. After 1 week I got a popup that said your trial has expired click here to subscribe. So instead of hitting ok I hit the back arrow to exit the app. I opened the app again and it has been working for almost 2 months now nonstop. I play it all day at work for 8+ hours and I use the same login on multiple devices (droid inc1 and 2, 2 droid eris and an acer iconia a500 tablet) No popups or problems at all.
Just thought Id share.
It not a hack or a mod really just a glitch in the app so I figured it would be cool to share my experience. i have told about 10 people so far who are all really thankful and enjoying it while they can.

I just downloaded the app from the play store
as stated above I use it on multiple devices
2 droid eris phones
1 droid inc
1 droid inc2 and
my acer a500 iconia tab
as well as my netbook and pc
all on the same free trial that I used 10 minute mail for a disposable email address
singed up using my first name and only last initial
it has now been working for over a month and a half after my free trial was suppossed to end on all my devices
I have told lots of people about it and it is the same outcome for them as well.

I got a set but I've only played with them. It's a neat novelty but at the cost not really practical. If they were cents each rather than dollars I might use them more.
Just register your phone on Samsung.com and you'll get a 50% off coupon...buy your TecTiles with that. I have mine by the door to toggle WiFi, in the bathroom to launch Play Music, and by the toilet to launch YouTube.
I use mine a lot, but my only gripe is that the phone has to be on and unlocked in order for it to work...but its better than nothing I guess.
I have thought about putting one in the living room for guests to use to connect to WiFi without asking for the password.

I got them for 50% off, so the price was more of a non point for me. Honestly though, I've only used one of them and then sort of forgot about them. They're nothing you can't just do as well on the phone itself. Fun to show off for a second I guess.

woah buddy, lighten up, lol. of course that was "an opinion", and mine obviously. sorry that I think having an NFC tag setup to launch YT when I'm taking dump is ridiculous. if you don't want conversations that are inherently going to have opinions, and possibly opinions that are not yours, don't post in a public forum, maybe?

no... just want to it things I would expect a phone to do. I'm not even sure how that statement is a "witty comeback", as it's contextually nonsense.
seriously, relax.
Not ubiquitous because people like you keep saying it isn't. Buy it, try it out...you may find something interesting that will intrigue another to do the same. My local mall uses NFC to give out free songs or magazine articles. What's a couple of bucks gonna hurt? You already bought a $300+ phone...might as well use its features.
You don't have to use the Samsung TecTiles...you can buy any of them, and download an NFC programmable app.

believe me, I wish I could think of uses for them that would do something I thought was functional, because gawdamn, the idea is cool. and I do love anything new tech-wise. i'm always an early adopter.
(and I bought the phone outright. $700 bucks w/ tax. worth every damn penny.)
so far, the only implementation I am seeing make NFC worthwhile is sBeam/filesharing, and google wallet (if it worked right now).
I will be keeping a watch on the tech, and I tend to make frivolous purchases (like the AllShare TV dongle), and perhaps I'll keep an eye on you, see if you come up with anything that sparks some ideas.
Anything useful for my personal routine (turning off ringer at work etc.) I have set up in tasker. For little stuff like opening you tube while on toilet, (lol) it just doesnt seem more convienent to tap phone to a tag than to click the app on my homescreen. Tasker really does all of the automation for me for work, my car etc.

Jelly Bomb has nfc with the screen off built in. I tried pulling the Nfc.apk from the 10.20 build and putting it on my own deodexed LJC rom but it didn't allow nfc with the screen off.
One thing that I thought would be useful is if I could set it up as a proximity sensor. Ex: when I put the phone in my car dock it turns on blue tooth and when I take it out it turns it off without having to touch another tag?

yes, just set it up to Toggle the bluetooth - that way if it's on it will turn off and visa versa.
I have similar setups and it works like a charm.
and the tiles will work with Every phone that has NFC, so even when you get a future phone, the tiles will continue to work. I think they are the bees knees.
they become more useful once you mod the phone to work with nfc screen off (someone posted a mod but it only works from lockscreen not screen off hopefully that will be fixed soon)
I have one each on my washer and dryer. they set a "timer" that goes off and tells me when the washer and dryer are done (30 minutes for washer 70minutes for dryer)
I have one on my car to auto set my car locator position one the dev for car locator gets that working right.
I also plan to use them for geo caching. I hope geocaching.com integrates NFC functionality into their service soon is VERY ideal for that.
I also plan to use them on "bins" in storage. I store what is in the bin in the tag. tap and now I know whats inside (working on that soon)
you can use QR codes but they are a pain (have to load an app) and then wait for camera to focus AND they don't like low light. NFC don't care tap done.
also plan to put on on my Radio Transmitter for my competition rocket gliders. tap and 15minute countdown timer starts.
