ah ha! The Man VS Food adds for cause pop ups if you scroll over them, and they are large, and in the center of the screen.
Makes them kind of hard to avoid :\

Hey guys I was watching the news today and saw this story, and actually thought it was pretty interesting. This college kid in California was using the My Tracks app on a dash mount in his car and it helped him get out a ticket that was pretty much a bogus one that a cop lied about. Check out the video in the link below!

Oh I know, I realize that it really only records an average or the maximum speed that you reached. In this instance the cop pulled the guy over and said he was going 40 in a 25 zone, on My Tracks the max speed he reached was only 26. Just helps prevent false tickets, and you do have a good point because these days rarely anyone does the speed limit all the time.

No, it didn't. I'm getting tired of this non-story spreading around the internet because people can't bother to read and apply some critical thinking. The judge said in the source article and any article with journalistic integrity that his ruling had nothing to do with the GPS.

a better app is the one that shows you where the cops normally sit.
I was just wondering how many people have left their house in a car for any reason and not gone faster than 26 MPH!!
Article is probably falsified, also that comment probably wasn't actually from a police. GPS apps are in my experience super accurate for speeds, while police have a massive incentive to lie and screw people over.
With my Galaxy S, I never experienced any "junk" notifications. With the Galaxy Nexus, I get about three per week. I've owned the phone less than a month. Is it a coincidence?
The notification bar has indicated the following:
- a green plus sign. When the notification bar is pulled down I see an image for "Win an iPod 2!" (does the plus sign mean they are hacking my Google+ account? I there is no notification when I go to Google+ on the PC)
- a star. The notification says "Battery Notice - touch here to increase battery life 200%"
Both scams obviously but I certainly don't want junk notifications on my phone. Any ideas how to stop them?
Find out where the spam is at and deal with it.
I would guess its Google Plus or Gmail.
Yes, it is a coincidence. Some app on your phone is using AirPush or a similar ad network to show these crappy notifications. Try downloading AirPush Detector from the Market to see which one it is.
Do you have an mp3 downloader app? Someone had the same issue a few weeks ago and that was the offender.

Despite being on this board every day since getting my Nexus (and reading the FAQ) I hadn't heard of AirPush. And again, this wasn't a problem for me three weeks ago with the Galaxy S so I thought it might be malware targeting ICS.

Ah... no. I didn't think it was the phone. I thought it might have been some hacker targeting ICS.
I'm pretty selective with downloading apps, I have about half a dozen, only ones with high ratings. Mostly the same ones I had on the Galaxy S. Just shows diligence can't be overstated.
Keep in mind that when any app can access the notification tray(on all versions of android), any app can use it for advertisement as well. It is no "hack" they simply create a notification or service that exposes this to you.

Okay, maybe I was a little harsh but it gets very tiring seeing, "Oh my previous phone didn't have x-problem." If people's previous phones never had the problems then maybe they should go back, ya know? So, I'm sorry if what I said was a little more...aggressive but you mentioning how you never had the problem before just set off how I have been feeling.
Quick tip for new Android users: Only install apps directly from the Google Android Market and don't install anything with less than 100.000 installations.
You will avoid most of the malware/bad apps this way (and a couple of good ones too - but you can come back for those later when you have more experience with Android).
Why would any hacker target ICS? The install base is so low that it makes no sense.

I hated the "xda noob" video, all the flashing spinning text, too fast to read, poor, I clicked the box and went on. Replace it with something serious if you want people to watch it. btw thanks for the seizure.
Personally I thought it was witty and funny. But do you suffer from conditions triggered by effects such as flash photography? If there's stuff in the video that can be a problem for such conditions, we should post a warning and meanwhile produce a better video.

I think the content is fine. I also think people with conditions such as this should be able to look out for themselves. Nobody blames Hollywood for putting out movies with lots of explosions, or dubstep artists who whose songs are probably seizure-inducing. The video itself is humorous and informative and I don't think anything should be changed content-wise. At the very most, maybe a 3-5 second delay with a video dialog box that has a warning in it, but that's it.

The idea is to make it witty and funny, so members will watch the whole video and learn a little about the rules, also not being able to read it, thats why is says everthing that is show in the vidoe. Also i think a lot less people would watch the video if it was to serious, resulting in less members understanding the basic rules.

The video is not only hilarious, but it's most importantly memorable. It gets across a message, and it does it very well. I can only assume the seizure thing is a joke, but even if it isn't then the video still isn't that bad and people know what to do if they know they have a condition of some sort.
It is the best intro video I have ever seen, so i don't think it should be changed
If it was seizure inducing, a warning would be legit. That's why video games have the warning. If people have this condition, it is hard to stop looking fast enough to prevent a seizure. It only takes 3 flashes in one second to cause. That being said, very funny video..

Here is what I don't like:
1. When you wake up the phone from sleep there is a noticeable delay.
2. After you hang up the phone, there is a delay of about 3-4 seconds before you are brought back to the dialer.. Until then you're just shown the "Call ended.." message. Thats quite annoying because you have to wait another 3-4 seconds before re-dialing.
3. MTP.. I have never gotten it to work on this phone. After downloading the official Galaxy Note II drivers from samsungs website all I ever get is "Hardware missing" or something like that. I really miss the plain old USB Mass Storage.
4. When you bring the phone to your ear the screen turns black, (thats good), but after you take it back down to see the screen, there's a gap of about 2 seconds before it turns back on. very annoying.
So these are the 4 things I have noticed that I don't like.

While I do agree that these problems may be minor: With all due respect, this is a website about mobile devices and development, and this thread is specifically for the issues regarding the user experience of the T-mobile Note 2.
There is nothing to say that the OP did not start a blog for starving families in third world countries on an appropriate website, or that he lacks common sense and or compassion towards major economic problems. . . as is implied by your remark.
Furthermore, problems must be addressed, not ignored. Many minor problems compounded can become a major one, eroding away the cumulative ease of use and overall responsiveness of the user experience.
Many people like myself regard our phones as valuable business tools rather than toys. It is important to have a high performance tool to efficaciously compete in today's "hi-tech" market.

Hey guys! Check out Locket, a new Android app that pays you for unlocking your phone
This is the greatest idea ever!
The app replaces your usual lockscreen with a nice sleek one that displays ads. You can choose to ignore the ad or go to it, either way you get money! The ads look nice as well, check out the link:

It may seem like a scam, but it's not. Google about the app and you'll see that many good websites have talked about it, such as PCMag, ABC News, and Engadget! So I HIGHLY RECOMMEND it.

From AndroidCentral:
So, how much are you going to get paid with Locket? The truth is, not much. This is a long-term play, at best, and even then you're not going to be buying much more than a six-pack with your spoils. You get the impression using Locket that you get 1 cent per unlock. But the truth — and this isn't anywhere in the fine print that we've seen, only in other published reports — is that it's capped at 3 cents per hour. Any unlocks beyond that — and the ads you view — are money in someone else's pocket. Not yours. (At the time of this writing, Locket hasn't responded to an e-mail seeking confirmation and clarification on the 3-cents-per-hour cap.)
Doing the math, that's a max of 72 cents a day. Or $5.04 a week. Or $262.80 a year — if you're unlocking your phone three times and hour, 24 hours a day. Which you won't be doing.
It's free money, but not worth giving up the security of a password lock to me. Or even the inconvenience of having TWO lockscreens. Raise the rates and play nicely with password locks, then we'll talk.
^^ Lol what a pain and no one likes ads. You could make more begging on the streets a couple times a year
