Wifi stopped working. Suggestions?

Recently I've noticed my wifi doesn't connect to any of my normal networks. When I check my wireless setttings, it'll say "connecting" but not to any specific network. Then just says disconnected. Finally, it'll say out of range for all my networks. I haven't done anything major with my phone, just small things like downloaded GO Launcher and played with icons and themes. Any ideas on what I can try or what it might be? Thanks.

I'm currently using the Tiamat-sbc kernel. But I'm pretty sure I haven't touched that kernel because it was working fine a while back. As for the router, it can't be a router problem. I have issues connecting to other networks as well. Should I clear my delvik cache?

I am having this very same problem. For the longest time I was sharing my internet connection from my iMac(mac acts as hot spot). But recently purchased a real wireless router. The problem is my phone connects for awhile then it quits working, it shows its still connected. But doesn't work. I am running Cyanogen mod 7 nightly latest with stock kernel. Anyone have a fix for this? I am thinking about re-flashing the radios.

It is random. I could be browsing the internet and click on a link and it just sits there. Other times I could use it upwards of an hour without problems.

On the same network??? Sorry I'm just trying to help and get a gauge of the issue

The first wifi network I had it on was just my iMac acting as a hot spot and it had the problem. My new network has the same problem:
the iMac hot spot was an open network no security. The new network is WPA/WPA2 PSK.
Wired Router Cisco RVS4000
Wireless Router Cisco WRVS4400N
Modem Motorola SB6120 (same modem as last network)
I connect my phone to the wireless and open a page up it may or may not open it is completely random. My dads Nexus S 4G has no problems nor does his Kindle Fire.
please give me any details of what you need so that you can help me?

Well I would recommend a full clean wipe everything except sdcard 3x put on a new Rom then let it settle but since I can't recreate the issue hard to say mayhaps a radio issue have you updated recently if so downgrade back to working radios

No I didn't flash the radios recently it was back when the latest version came out 9-5-11 EVO_Radio_2.15.00.08.08_WiMAX_27243_PRI_NV_2.15_00 3. Should I downgrade? any settings on my wifi router i should look at?

I'm not used to home routers lol but again try from a clean slate if you want router help lol I only know Cisco cli for their big boy networking solutions haha

Its a cisco small business with all the bells and whistles

Haha nice never played with their WiFi but i assume its about the same did you set up through console with hyperterminal

I had the same problem when I would use the CM7 nightly builds. My WIFI would work, all of a sudden, it just won't connect to any network. THEN...out of no where, it connects...a couple days later...The only way to fix is to use a stable build lol...I just remembered...try enabling airplane mode and then disable it again...

[Q] Can't connect to wifi

So after flashing to AOKP, I realized my phone can't connect to wifi. I googled and found a thread suggesting to flash a different kernel. I flashed the franco.kernel-milestone4 kernel and still can't connect to wifi. I know it's not my router's issue since my netbook and nexus S can connect perfectly. Just wondering if you guys have any suggestions. Thanks!

Yea, I gave up on trying to fix it. Using CM9 rom now. I'm guessing this is a bug with the AOKP roms now?

Not that I've noticed.
WiFi works great.
I do think there was a build or two that broke connecting to invisible SSID's manually...but I believe it's fixed in B40.

I recently CWM flashed IMM30D over a Cyanogen 9 daily in an effort to get JB on my maguro. Everything works except WiFi. It attempts to connect, and just sits on "Obtaining IP address..." Patching with the JB OTA update doesn't fix the problem.
Can anybody else confirm this behavior?

Strange!!

flashed swiftkey flow zip form recovery that i downloaded from xda. now my data is all messed up i don't get 3g or 4g anymore just E and G?? What the hell is G?? Never seen this before. Running CM10 stable. restored rom...nothing. restored to stock rooted and still the same.
Any ideas?

swiftkey flow is an open beta, so anyone can download it and use it.
op, did you make a backup beforehand? if not, i would suggest reflashing your rom and simply installing the apk of swiftkey flow. but only if your imei is intact.

hey gunnyman...looks like i lost my imei!! Crazy..never happened before! Anyway...i did alot of searching and found some threads that describe how to get it back but they are WAY to complicated. Can you help me with this?

Sorry but that's above my pay grade. First thing I did when I got my phone is back it up. I have no idea how to inject it without a backup.

I found it complicated too when it happened to me. But, I got through it. Just read and re-read...and go through the motions in your head before doing it. I used the combination of 2 sources. Here first and then here. Good luck.

okay...**** man what an ordeal that was!! but i did it finally. got my phone up and running but now i have a couple of questions.
on stock rom(stock rogers rooted) shows 4g mostly but when i revert back to cm10 stable it bounces from 3g to h+. okay so i did a little comparison and while on stock it flips from HSPA+ 15 and UMTS: 3 but it only shows 4g. on cm10 it flips from HSPAP - 15 and UMTS: 3 but when it does that it shows 4g and 3g respectively. Now i know that custom roms especially this one shows "true" data and that they don't really align with the stock but i don't remember ever seeing 3g. Also, the current modem is 1747MVLLH1 but it doesn't match the two modems listed in another post titled "complete modem list" and they are: I747MVLLE8 and/or I747MLALH1. do i have the right modem?

Maybe try asking in the correct S3 section. This is the Samsung Note I717 section.

Wifi Hotspot works on latest AOKP (1.30.2013). Did you make a clean install?
You can also use BT hotspot just as well.

Still not working after clean install... BT and USB method are working fine..
any ideas?

Yea I was having the same problem.... Also "Nearby Devices" isn't present on AOKP ROMs also right?

i can confirm wifi tether doesn't work in i747 on Rogers. even with encryption turned off
Hot spot gets created, and users can connect to it, however users cannot use the data. (speed test/google etc).
possible to be a network issue?
using WiFi Tether for Root Users
Müller, Lemons, Buxton, log says cannot start and configure AP. wackk

Can't speak for Rogers cause I live on the wrong side of Lake Ontario, but I did see some people (Presumably Rogers customers) having issues tethering on LTE. Task stopped officially supporting carriers other than AT&T in the past week or so, so even though the support has been there in the past, it's probably hit or miss at this point. Full wipe and flash again?

I think I gotta +1 for apple? Got the tethering to work after I enabled auto on "http proxy" on the iPod touch .
Tried with nexus 7 and no option to auto proxy. Tried proxydroid as well with it, didn't work.

You guys got it all wrong.. The problem is coming from Rogers. Unless you make some mods, you can't use 4G as a hotspot. Search Task's thread for a Rogers workaround.

care to share with us these 'mods'? would a phone call to rogers fix this issue?
searched night and day and all i found were others with the same problem. and task saying it won't work.. LOL.

read a thread where the APN's were messed up... (they said to change ltedata.apn to ltemobile.apn) Mine was already ltemobile.apn, do i decided to do the opposite!

only issue i just came across was I was unable to use the hotspot when my phone was on 4g..
H+ and 3g will allow the tethering to go through.
When on 4g however, it doesn't seem to go through, therefore I had to change my network mode to wcmda preferred to maintain a steady hotspot.
might need to test a bit more..
maybe someone else can confirm.

4G on my Gf's Galaxy s2 stopped working. It shows that it's on but nothing works.
What could be the reason and how do I fix?
Also, I upgraded her phone recently to stock JB and that's my only guess as to why its doing it. Just not sure why it would.

When you say 4G stopped working, do you mean she has no access to data, or that you just don't see the "4G" in the status bar? If you just don't see the 4G but you still have access to the internet and what not, it is just the rom you are using. CM10.1 uses the "DC", "3G", and "h+" instead of "4G".
If you don't have internet access, then I would assume it is because of your modem, it looks like you are running the latest firware/modem, so maybe try a different modem dependning on the ROM you are on.
Need to know:
1. ROM you are on
2. Are you running stock kernel?

try to toggle data on and off see if it comes back on if not try to toggle on 2g save batter and toggle it off again see what happens ?
