Wifi Hotspot works on latest AOKP (1.30.2013). Did you make a clean install?
You can also use BT hotspot just as well.

i can confirm wifi tether doesn't work in i747 on Rogers. even with encryption turned off
Hot spot gets created, and users can connect to it, however users cannot use the data. (speed test/google etc).
possible to be a network issue?
using WiFi Tether for Root Users
Müller, Lemons, Buxton, log says cannot start and configure AP. wackk

Can't speak for Rogers cause I live on the wrong side of Lake Ontario, but I did see some people (Presumably Rogers customers) having issues tethering on LTE. Task stopped officially supporting carriers other than AT&T in the past week or so, so even though the support has been there in the past, it's probably hit or miss at this point. Full wipe and flash again?

I think I gotta +1 for apple? Got the tethering to work after I enabled auto on "http proxy" on the iPod touch .
Tried with nexus 7 and no option to auto proxy. Tried proxydroid as well with it, didn't work.

You guys got it all wrong.. The problem is coming from Rogers. Unless you make some mods, you can't use 4G as a hotspot. Search Task's thread for a Rogers workaround.

only issue i just came across was I was unable to use the hotspot when my phone was on 4g..
H+ and 3g will allow the tethering to go through.
When on 4g however, it doesn't seem to go through, therefore I had to change my network mode to wcmda preferred to maintain a steady hotspot.
might need to test a bit more..
maybe someone else can confirm.

this is through native wifi hotspot.

Yes. I just upgraded to FF18. Foxfi did not work but wifi tether did. Although it did not work set to galaxy nexus but does work when set to auto.
Go figure? Thanks for the tip!
So I thought I would report that I got Wifi Tether for Root Users to work on AOKP M6 by setting the device profile to galaxy nexus.
Also, I've found that using the EL29 modem gives the fastest speeds. I was testing 250-300 kbps down with FF18, I get 1200+ kbps on EL29.
You know there's a profile for our device...

I'm sure we`'ll see it added soon enough. Cyanogen added it to a lot of cm7 supported devices. It's only a matter of time. I'm stuck on modded stock roms until it is. XP

except that you are mistaken. My old phone was an LG G2X and both CM7 and CM9 have WiFi Calling working on that phone's releases.
What exactly is needed to get it working? Can you just copy the APK and associated files from a stock rom and paste them into a CM9 or is there some underlying system-level programming that has to be done as well?
It is not in the cm9 d2tmo 7/27 nightly.
Cm9 least brings back the 2g/3g toggle so battery life is better than stock without wifi calling in 2g only mode.
Fyi the nightlies are stable... only issues for me are with camera
If trying to obtain focus in low light situation and continually click on your subject for more then 4 seconds...then I get close/wait

I haven't bothered to look through the sgs3 source, but on my old t-959 vibrant, wifi calling also required support compiled into the kernel (KINETEO_GAN or something like that) so it's likely that we'll need the source and means to do the same for the sgs3 before wifi calling is even a possibility on cm10.
And hey, maybe that support is already in the source, like I said, I haven't bothered to download it and check.
Cheers
Tytung has GB and ICS versions
Since Tytung has made GB and ICS versions that work on AOSP / CM9, maybe he could help us?
Here is his thread with versions of WiFi Calling that I know work on HTC HD2, but I think they work on all T-Mo GB/ICS devices.

WiFi calling can be set up on any ROM. Not T-Mobile WiFi calling, but free WiFi calling nonetheless. There are plenty if tutorials floating around.
And it will never be built into official CM source.

I just reflashed my old Desire Z with the official CM7.2 downloaded from RomManager, and it came with the TMo WiFi calling built in. I'm very interested in this. My office is a cellular black hole. I need to be able to make WiFi calls with my TMo number. I don't care about the other free WiFi calling apps. I hope CM will eventually support this, or someone comes out with a patch.
BTW, the CM team is amazing. I'm not complaining about them.

T-mobile Spying on me?

I recently been getting texts that appear to be from t-mobile saying that I have used 400 of the 500 mb hotspot on my data plan. The problem is I have done zero tethering what so ever. I first started seeing this text after using the android app XBMC on my phone to stream a few movies. It seems as if the phone is seeing this app as another device using the connection but its all on the same device. I am just trying to see if anyone else has experience this. I notice I do not get the texts if I use the vpn the whole time. Any thoughts as to what is going on?

I've had 2 similar problems. A week after I got the phone it started using all data as hotspot data. A factory reset fixed it.
A couple of weeks ago my Loader Droid app on my phone started using hotspot data. I cleared data and cache on the app and that fixed that problem.
factory reset will fix it, better hurry, the tmo mobile police will be at your door, as soon as you hit 1gig data. Always when you lay the phone down, make sure it is camera down. And place napkin over it, so they can't see who you are.
be prepared.

I didn't think of that, it was on epc.tmobile.com, so i just changed it. I'm at work right now (No LTE here anyway) So I'll update this evening when I get home. Thanks!
Im on simple mobile and I cant get lte on my phone for some reason. I get 38 down on stock rom and 3 down on aokp. Is there a build.prop setting I have to change? or smonething.

I am using simple mobile apn. They have an app that sets the apn for you. I get lte with the same apn on stock roms. But even when I use tmobile.fast All I get is a max of 7 down.

Are you using devil or agni kernel? If not have you tried selinux mode changer from the play store?

I am using the stock kernel that came with aokp. I did download selinux changer and changed it to permisseve. It made very little change. I did make a backup of my efs folder in twrp I am going to try restoring that. I remember someone telling me to do that before when kitkat first came out.

I just tried restoring my efs folder and now I got 25 down on the first test, the second test i only got 1 mbps download, and the third was the same as the second. I dont know if it is because I have low signal or what but that is prety weird. I am going to to go out and try a few diffedrent spots where the signal is stronger. I dont care if I get crappy speeds at my house because I have wifi but I just want to make sure that it is working properly.
