4G on my Gf's Galaxy s2 stopped working. It shows that it's on but nothing works.
What could be the reason and how do I fix?
Also, I upgraded her phone recently to stock JB and that's my only guess as to why its doing it. Just not sure why it would.

Update firmware to uvmc6 then see what data does.

When you say 4G stopped working, do you mean she has no access to data, or that you just don't see the "4G" in the status bar? If you just don't see the 4G but you still have access to the internet and what not, it is just the rom you are using. CM10.1 uses the "DC", "3G", and "h+" instead of "4G".
If you don't have internet access, then I would assume it is because of your modem, it looks like you are running the latest firware/modem, so maybe try a different modem dependning on the ROM you are on.
Need to know:
1. ROM you are on
2. Are you running stock kernel?

try to toggle data on and off see if it comes back on if not try to toggle on 2g save batter and toggle it off again see what happens ?

Im currently running cm9b0 with the phantom vm fix no custom kernel, everything was running awesome but for some reason I can't lock on to 4G anymore. Just says "disconnected" tried flashing b0 and gaaps with a cache/dalvik wipe but still the same? anyone have an idea on what to try next? would like to avoid a full wipe since everything is just the way I like it. Once in a while I shut data off to save battery but thats all on and 3G works fine, Even toggled airplane mode on and off a couple time with no change. Any help is much appreciated
I'm running CM9b1 and haven't been able to get a 4G lock yet. I have good 4g at the house, but it just scans and never finds the network.
Edit: Played with the 4g toggles for about 15 minutes and then finally got a notification in the status bar followed by a 4G tower connect. It stayed connected for just under 2 minutes, disconnected itself, and I haven't been able to get it to connect since.
Could it possibly be my modem?
I've restored old nandroids and still the same, could it be my hardware out maybe my carrier? I'm at a loss

Your best bet is to odin stock EL30 tar firmware and see if it works there. If it does then move forward from there checking it each step. This happened to me once before.

I odin'd back to ec05 and 4g worked again, rooted and flashed cm9b0 then restored data and phone is back to normal.... Thanks!!!

hey guys, i just got the gsm galaxy nexus in a trade for my galaxy s2 for tmobile. ive been noticing every now and then i lose my data for a little bit then it comes back sometimes and sometimes i have to restart my phone for it to come back. its stock running 4.0.4. the guy updated it before he gave it to me. is there a fix or a reason it does this? thanks for any one helping me. also sometimes im using wifi and i turn it off and the data doesnt come back. lol thought this is odd.
also noticed when on wifi sometimes it trips out and when im downloading an app that is like 27mbs my wifi disconnects and reconnects like crazy. its odd.

Nope, I have been running on tmobile since day 1 and have never had this issue, but have had multiple others. I suggest you reflash to another rom, or if it is stock reflash the stock rom (if you can do this). Something prob just went wrong when he updated, happens to us all.
Would generally say that's not normal.

yeah my phone is completely stock. i havent rooted it or anything. i can factory reset it for sure but i wasnt sure if the root process will work with the new 4.0.4 update for the gsm galaxy nexus.

What is your stock rom info? Is it IMM76i because if it isn't then you are experiencing a flaw of the first 4.0.4 released by Google.

I'm on Android 4.2.2, running the new Liquid ROM. Only uses 3G, and same with android 4.2.1. When I switch back to 4.1.2, 4G WORKS

Do something to use data, like browse a page or download an app... Does it switch to 4G?

This is stated in the OP for the Q&A for that ROM. You still get your 4G speeds, it will just show as 3G, H, or H+. Did you do a speed test on your data connection to see what speeds you were actually getting?

No, the OP for the Liquid ROM he said he was using.
Thank you! I downloaded the latest modem from DocHoliday and it displays 3G only when Data isn't used, but when data is being used it shows as H/H+.
Is anyone else experiencing reduced cell service after flashing 4.2.2???

What do you mean by reduced cell service? Like no 3g/4g/LTE or just spotty?

I apologize i should be more specific. I am getting lte most of ther time because my area has strong lte. Also great speeds. I ve noticed though in traveling short distances from my home..places where i normally get strong lte, the connection switches quickly to all different modes then back to lte. Also i usually get more bars where i am. Not sure if its the rom or a google issue...

OK i flashed yesterday coming from 4.1.1. The rom i used is by task650. I wiped the cache. dalvik. formatted system then flashed new rom and gapps.

I flashed Cyanogen 10.1.0, 10.1.1, and 10.1.2 and I lost 4G on all three, even though all of my T-mobile network settings (APN, network mode) were identical to those on my wife's T989 - still running official 4.1.2.
Someone over at Cyanogenmod forums said that I needed to update my radio/baseband. How do I do this?

Do u still have service, are u able to make calls and such? If not I can give u a link to the radio and u just need to flash it in recovery just like a rom, but if u can still make calls and such ur fine but most aosp ROMs like cm don't use a 4g icon so 4g would be equivalent to h++ over signal bars, I only say this because ppl get confused about the actual icon too and wasn't sure what u meant

DC is the same as 4g or h++ just aosp roms use those icons to show speeds instead of the 4g icon, if u look t the actual speed of ur network its the same as 4g
