Android 4.2.x No 4G Signal - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

I'm on Android 4.2.2, running the new Liquid ROM. Only uses 3G, and same with android 4.2.1. When I switch back to 4.1.2, 4G WORKS
By the way it's a T-Mobile Galaxy S3, any help?

Do something to use data, like browse a page or download an app... Does it switch to 4G?

Are you on the latest modem?

This is stated in the OP for the Q&A for that ROM. You still get your 4G speeds, it will just show as 3G, H, or H+. Did you do a speed test on your data connection to see what speeds you were actually getting?

No, the OP for the Liquid ROM he said he was using.

Thank you! I downloaded the latest modem from DocHoliday and it displays 3G only when Data isn't used, but when data is being used it shows as H/H+.

Reboot phone for LTE?

So I'm at school where fortunately we have lte, but lately my phone only connects to 3g unless I reboot while in campass. But even after class I go back outside and have to reboot again to connect to lte. Anyone else have an issue like this???
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda app-developers app
I'm having the same issue.
Full LTE available at work. Some days, it's stays on 4G throughout my entire shift. Sometimes when I use my phone for daily tasks such as web/sms/calls it drops off to 3G and stays there til I reboot then 4G comes back again. Strange.
Are you running CM or a TW ROM?

[Q] Question about 4g and ROMS.

Just rooted my SGS2... Thinking about flashing a ROM, but first I have a question.
After flashing a ROM, will I still have 4G internet like I usually do? That is my only doubt.
Does anyone know of a good ROM if so? I want a clean, smooth ROM.

Yes, you will still get 4g. If you want a good jellybean ROM running 4.2.1 i would recommend the cyanogen 10.1 or AOKP. They are new versions but are running quite smoothly.

Installed AOKP, I can only get 3G/H+
Pre ROM install I'd always be at 4G.

3G, H, and H+ are all considered T-Mobile "4G".

"4G" (really HSPA+) displays as H+/H/3G on AOSP ROMs.

Lmao.. T-mo 4G = H+ on T-Mobile based roms it will show 4G even when it's not on H+ .. because they think their funny.. AOsP based roms are less sensitive and change the icon only when your on H+..(4G).
Run a speed test and you'd see that your still able to produce the same speeds regardless of what the icon says..
If your lucky then you'll be over 22mbs download speeds like I am
Technically regular hspa is TMo 3G and hsdpa+ is Tmo 4G

Att reception problem

Is anyone else experiencing reduced cell service after flashing 4.2.2???

What do you mean by reduced cell service? Like no 3g/4g/LTE or just spotty?
If you're only getting edge, check your IMEI

I apologize i should be more specific. I am getting lte most of ther time because my area has strong lte. Also great speeds. I ve noticed though in traveling short distances from my home..places where i normally get strong lte, the connection switches quickly to all different modes then back to lte. Also i usually get more bars where i am. Not sure if its the rom or a google issue...

[Q] Regaining T-Mobile 4G on Cyanogen 10.1 roms?

I have a Galaxy S2 T989 and am on T-Mobile with 4G access. I updated to Android 4.1.2 through Kies and the rooted, and when I'm running that OS I have normal 4G and Wifi action. I flashed Cyanogen 10.1.0, 10.1.1, and 10.1.2 and I lost 4G on all three, even though all of my T-mobile network settings (APN, network mode) were identical to those on my wife's T989 - still running official 4.1.2.
Someone over at Cyanogenmod forums said that I needed to update my radio/baseband. How do I do this?

Do u still have service, are u able to make calls and such? If not I can give u a link to the radio and u just need to flash it in recovery just like a rom, but if u can still make calls and such ur fine but most aosp ROMs like cm don't use a 4g icon so 4g would be equivalent to h++ over signal bars, I only say this because ppl get confused about the actual icon too and wasn't sure what u meant

I do have service, can make calls, internet works. It just seems like internet and wifi are slower on this mod than they are on the official 4.1.2 update. Isn't CM 10.1.2 supposed to be Android 4.2? Wouldn't that be more powerful than 4.1.2?

DC is the same as 4g or h++ just aosp roms use those icons to show speeds instead of the 4g icon, if u look t the actual speed of ur network its the same as 4g

4G LTE=4G

My phone now shows 4G, when for the last 9 months it was 4G LTE. I'm running ParanoidKangdroid 4.2.2, and i've never had a problem with the rom. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
P.S. The down/up speed has also slowed down.

if you look in settings, about phone, status, you can see if you're actually connected to lte or not. I think its labeled mobile network type.

It says LTE:13, so how come it stopped showing 4G LTE in the status bar? Is this an AT&T thing? Thanks.
No idea... I'm on quantum and it shows 4g LTE. As long as the status does LTE you should be fine

Question...for the last 9 months were you running a TW based ROM or ParanoidKangdroid 4.2.2. Most stock TW based roms show 4G LTE for LTE and 4G for H+ (for AT&T and most US carriers anyway). In AOSP world, I have always seen LTE show simply as 4G, 3G as H, H+, or 3G, and 2G as E.

The stock rom that loserskater modded is knoxless and Selinux is permissive is very stable for me. If you don't like the touch wiz experience then download a launcher app from play store.
