Hi I hope someone can help me, basically I put android revolution on my phone yesterday but wanted to return to stock so I flashed a stock rom through odin and after it had booted up I had no internet connection, I checked my imei and it was different to my usual imei.
Anyway I spent all day trying to rectify the problem using kies but that didnt help, in the end I decided to root my phone again and put android revolution back on it, and to my surprise my internet connection and imei returned!!!!
I was just wondering how I could go back to stock without having the same problems as yesterday?
Oh I have no back ups whatsoever.
Hope someone can help
Thanks alot
Darren

Never mind I think I found the problem, due to the latest stability update u cant downgrade firnware cos the update modifies the efs/kernel so instead of downgrading which is what I was doing when going back to stock cos that was the only firmware on my computer I tjink it was 4.1.1 I think I have to use the newest stock rom in odin so that it can read the modified efs from the update?
If someone can 2nd what I said just to make sure im correct then ill go ahead and do it.
Thanks alot

Yup, you right and safe to do so. If your imei havent corrupt, you will be fine with both latest DF1 and ME4 modem.

The latest update kernel will modified your imei and force to recognize both mentioned modem only.
Good luck mate.

How common is this I would likevcto flash some roms and all that good stuff. I have been reading about people phones not working after rooting and applying a Rom. Should I be worried ? Should I wait? And if it's all good any methods that worked cleanly for other people ? Thanks in advance

Any help greatly appreciated ready to flash away
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda premium
I wouldn't say its very common as there are tons of people flashing and we dont hear about half the forum crying about corrupting their imei, thats not to say that its a non issue though. As you can probably see from the numerous threads (main one in the att development). Its advisable to wait, but with any flash you know the risk you are taking.
I was actually holding off till yesterday, ended up just saying eff it and flashed, did the non trip rooting, flashed the latest cwm from the official cwm site. Flashed Aokp, no imei wipe (was scared ****less the whole time though ) Decided i didnt even like the AOKP rom and flashed my carriers stock rom again through odin, So far so good.
However in the future im waiting for a full solution to this imei problem before i root or flash again. :good:
Id say just read the threads, if you understand the risks and want to proceed go ahead. good luck
So you went through all the steps and your fine? Thanks I may wait A week or so the stock Rom is actual nice I just like to try new stuff

yeah man i say check out the stock first, if you can wait, wait. The stock rom is best i find. and yes i followed all the steps, downloaded the latest cwm from the rom manager site and whatnot. pushed the cwm through terminal emulator on the phone.

i flashed my phone with the original at&t root method (which increased flash counter). since then, i've flashed the stock rom (UCALEM) to get non-modified status, reset the flash counter, and flashed the stock update rom (UCALG1) with no problems so far. i wasn't even aware of the imei issues until poking around the forums the other day. i suppose ignorance really is bliss.
---------- Post added at 08:05 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:00 PM ----------
i should add.. i used the stock root injected roms (after the initial flash) from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1739426
So ish there a chance even if we follow AT&T stuff directly? I've never heard of this happening I've had and flashed a lot of phones and never heard of such a thing should we worry or what I wanna flash but don't won't a brick

i think there's always the chance... but you can reduce that chance significantly if you read up and follow the directions.

Awesome. I too have been searching for this answer. I'm really digging the Projectaosp rom for the n7105 and really want it on my t-889

So than all we need to do is make sure the phone retains the modem. Thats it ? I thought there would be more to it. not that im complaining. Thanks for the help.

im am going to try it now. havent had time because of the kids but now they are asleep, here goes nothing. i will report once im up and running.
Ok so I just got done flashing this projectaosp.
First I made sure I downloaded latest tmobile modem as of june or july I believe, as well as the most recent saber kernal. Flashed modem first, then the rom followed by kernal.
Everything looks and performs freakin awesome however im missing something. As I speculated its not as easy as just retaining just the modem.
My google play store gives up errors when it does the automatic backup. My voicemail is not working. So I can assume anything tmobile is out of the question. Perhaps I need to tweak my apn settings ? Can anyone shine light to what im missing to get this working ?
I know just by flashing this is the rom I want and need. Just need it functional. Im willing to try anything if you give me instuctions. Ive already "bricked " my note 2 and brought it back so im not scared to try anything. However this was very noticeably quick and snappy compared to my daily driver of the jedi 17 rom. I want this rom so badly on my t-889. Its the best of both worlds, touchwiz and aosp. Please help or directions.

I tried the same rom, flashed project AOSP, flashed stock radio, flashed stock kernel, No go on data, I went to try to set the apn, and it says no sim card.
...so... I am guessing you will have the same luck.
its not registering my sim card. which answers why i was running into those issues before. i tried flashing in the correct order. and then also dirty flashed again after my first attempt.

hi guys
i hope you can help, i am really scared, i got the null/null imei!, i first flashed uae stock from coming from revolution hd rom, after that i got another imei other than mine so i tried to flash again cwm using odin, after that i tried many times to install back the custom rom (binary is 4 now) then i tried to restore a backup of the from and the phone booted, now the disaster come, the phone is working like normal but not recognize any sim i checked the imei and got "null/null".
PLEASE tell me that there are a solution for this problem.
the phone is now at a store which is familiar with custom roms, the man said that as the binary count is 4, there is a chance that there would be no solution.
by the way, i still have a cwm backup.
any help appreciated.

So what changed it was when i got odin mobile and flashed a bad recovery update and soemthing broke. My rom couldnt start but i could enter recovery and wiped everything and installed a new rom. But i am afraid because i can not use odin pc because it doesnt detect my phone at all... so everyone knows the reason?

Hi. I have reflashed a new room then did tons of reflashes after that and now im on 4.3 rom. Everything is working fine and it conects when my phone is on. But when it is in downlaod mode. It doesnt detect my phone. This is quite strange. Should i install kies or contact mobile odin people(not gonna answer me anyways xD)

It sounds as if you have exactly the same result as I did when I reflashed my Samsung S3 I9300 and then updated it to 4.3 Jellybean.
Try removing the battery and leave it out while you go have lunch or something, i.e. for some extended time. Then try download mode again. That worked for me but only once. At this moment I'm waiting again, with the battery removed, before I can use download mode again.
Maybe there is something different with 4.3, only time will tell. Lots of people are running alternative ROMs so they may not come across this at all.
Hello there, I'm stuck here with what seems to be an unbrickable TMO Galaxy S4. I've tried just aboout everything under the sun and it's still stuck in bootloop. Heres a list of things I've tried and hopefully someone and help me get this thiing up and running soon.
1. Factory Reset, then flash the MDL firmware thru odin. It passed, restarted then finishing installing in the stock recovery. Went to the Samsung Galaxy S4 screen, blacked out then rebooted = FAIL!
2. Install a custom recovery, wiped the entire phone(formatted data, wiped system, data, cache, internal, dalvik cache and did an factory reset. Then flashed Darth Stalker X1. It tried booting the first go then the screen went haywire and the phone got incredibly hot. pulled battery and it booted all the way up and a few hours later back to bootlooping but now that last fix doesn't work anymore. FAIL!
3.Updated to the MK2 firmware, wiped everything again, tried booting. Still bootloop. Installed Custom recovery Wiped everything and tried 2 different roms 1 including the X1 from before. Still Bootloop. FAIL!
4. Now I've updated to the lastest firmware, NB4. Downloaded and flashed NB4 roms like Insane Kit Kat V9 and more. Still the same results. Only time I even got a glimpse at a boot animation is when I flashed a CM based rom but its still bootlooping. FAIL!
I'm so lost on what to do next, I just need some guidance to get me on the right track to success. Please anyone who knows anything help me.

If you can't do it through kies just use Odin. The official nb4 firmware doesn't work but Fenny fixed it. Go to the link provided and download his fixed nb4 full firmware and flash it. Uncheck auto reboot, once done pull the battery and boot in recovery and do a factory reset and wipe cache and dalvik. Post your results. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=52924856

Looks like you've done quite a bit to fix this problem, but I'll throw in a few suggestions. May not work, but it won't hurt. Some of this might seem redundant, but who knows; it might help.
First, because KNOX has already been tripped, I'd try to flash a non-TouchWiz ROM via recovery. Once you've flashed CM11 or whatever you choose, I'd grab the charging cable that came with the phone and flash the NB4 firmware via Odin. (The reason for flashing a non-TW ROM then restoring to the factory image is that I've always encountered problems when restoring the stock image from a TW ROM like still having user data intact and other odd stuff. Flashing non-TW guarantees everything is gone.)
If you can't boot from that I'd try to manually update your modem to NB4. I know it should have flashed via Odin you updated to NB4, but I've noticed that sometimes the modem doesn't update when flashing the factory firmware in Odin. I've never updated my bootloader past MDL; just custom recovery and updated modem/baseband) and when using Odin to restore back to MDL, my modem will still say NB4. It wouldn't really cause a problem with MDL bootloader and a newer modem, but I could see how there could be a conflict if you still have the MDL modem and newer bootloader.
Good luck.

Yea that's the thing, I was under the impression it was an m919 as well that's why I posted the pics. When I initially got the phone it had m919 when booting and in the download mode. But after all those testing I'm now assuming that the previous owner change it somehow to show m919 instead of what it really could be. So the question now is what variant this is or how to figure out what it is?
