Download mode broken - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi people.
Well. The main problem here is that my dowbload mode appears to have changed of appearence and now only has the android logo and please do not turnf off.... sign. So what changed it was when i got odin mobile and flashed a bad recovery update and soemthing broke. My rom couldnt start but i could enter recovery and wiped everything and installed a new rom. But i am afraid because i can not use odin pc because it doesnt detect my phone at all... so everyone knows the reason?

Well I probably didn't read your phone cuz it was in a bootloop and it probably messed up the rom enough to get rid of the drivers that let's the phone connect to the pc I would just try dirty flashing the rom again to get everything back

Or even try doing a full wipe and intalling a new rom or just reinstall the old rom

Hi. I have reflashed a new room then did tons of reflashes after that and now im on 4.3 rom. Everything is working fine and it conects when my phone is on. But when it is in downlaod mode. It doesnt detect my phone. This is quite strange. Should i install kies or contact mobile odin people(not gonna answer me anyways xD)
Sent from my GT-N7100 using Tapatalk 2

It sounds as if you have exactly the same result as I did when I reflashed my Samsung S3 I9300 and then updated it to 4.3 Jellybean.
Try removing the battery and leave it out while you go have lunch or something, i.e. for some extended time. Then try download mode again. That worked for me but only once. At this moment I'm waiting again, with the battery removed, before I can use download mode again.
Maybe there is something different with 4.3, only time will tell. Lots of people are running alternative ROMs so they may not come across this at all.

PLEASE HELP possibly soft bricked

I accidently wipe my phones internal storage including backups, Im running latest TWRP and it wont read my sd card. I have a custom rom on the sd card but i cant access via recovery. phone boots to recovery and even download mode but i dont think my usb debug is checked and i cant get thru with odin. Im crunched for time as my wife is coming home in an hour and she will be furious if i bricked my phone i need help restoring before she gets home. thanks.
Heres how I fixed the problem, it was easy after doing but confusing getting there. Since the phone would not boot past the galaxy s3 screen there was no way for me to select USB debugging. That option totally did not allow me to use the Galaxy S3 toolkit listed in android development nor could I select and run any of their lists of "Root" roms because something would happen where ODIN didnt boot it correctly. It ran it at first then "Boot" came on then "Reset" came on then "Pass" came on but nothing ever took. I went to samsung-updates.com selected the ICS factory rom and saved it to desktop. Then I unzipped that rom to unveil the TAR file and flash that via Odin and Bam it ran thru no problems. The problems I ran into earlier were links from other posts and it turned out they were either bad links or not for the phone. I actually tried one guys download link that claimed to be specifically for the T999 us version and it turned out to be for another phone all together Im just lucky that flash didnt brick my device even more. Anyways Odin was my friend it was just a matter of downloading the "Correct" rom. thanks to all that helped I appreciated you all taking the time to answer.
I would download this tool http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1746682. You should be able to use your PC to flash your Nandroid, although i have never done that.
It doesn't matter if USB debugging is checked if the phone is off.
when i boot to recovery it boots to manual mode anyone know what to do next?
You can flash stuff from your computer in download mode through Odin. I hate doing it myself, but will try to look it up for you

Boot to Recovery and reset factory defaults. That will fix it. It will still "stick" on that screen, but after a couple minutes, it will continue.

I booted to recovery did a factory reset but it still stayed on the samsung galaxy s3 screen for over fifteen minutes now. I even tried the rom toolbox someone suggested earlier but upon flashing a stock rom it prompts me to check usb debugging and I cant get past that screen.
Stock kernel! That should do the trick! Can't believe I forgot about that. Try that and it will boot up fine.

Found a rom and a kernel in the development section and ran it thru odin and it still didnt take. I noticed that the rom flash thru odin only took about two minutes and not once did i see where the modem cycle was being applied. Still no luck for me. Since my phone does not boot pass the galaxy s3 screen is it possible to get the phone to mount via usb cable and copy the roms to internal storage and install via recovery?
Finally got it working again. Thanks to all that helped.

Did a hard reset and I still have root?

Why do I have root and a custom rom (I was running ktoonsez kernel before i did the hard reset) when I hard-reseted my phone?
I'm trying to make my phone like it came out of the box.
With no root or anything. With the original kernel and stuff.
How do I do that?
I don't think hard reset can make your phone look like out of box.You have to flash stock rom with Odin to return to stock.

It looks complicated, I'll see if I need to do it tomorrow because I reset my phone because I was experiencing an issue,
Is there a thread made for the S4 to revert to complete stock? I know I saw one in Android Development, but it said "fix soft brick" or something like that

yep is too easy if you read and if you have a doubt read again, follow these steps...good luck
a hard reset does a factory reset too if i'm not mistaken which only wipes /data /cache and dalvik. doesn't touch system or boot which is where the rom and kernel are, respectively. therefore doesnt get rid of root

It is so... not hard, its easier then buttering toast, if you can adjust the sound volume on a pc or navigate a standard windows xp/7 o.s , you can odin a tar file to a galaxy phone .. it takes literally 5 min from dload file time / to flashing finished.
In fact you have the easiest phone to deal with be  thankful not a motorola or htc.

Puting a galaxy any galaxy back to stock requires what wr call removing root and more importantly getting stock 3e recovery back. Its only done by flashing the stock out of the box firmware, otherwise known as a tar.md5 file.
You search in GOOGLE,for
"M919 uvuamdl stock tar. "
Dload it to computer then extract file to desktop or a folder
Next Download odin and open odin,
Connect phone to usb cable to the computer. You will see in odin top left corner a com port when your phones recognized the port will be yellow and say com with a # like com8 for example.
Select pda in Odin, it will direct you to the folder you put the tar file in and select open.
Then click start in Odin. When its done itlll say reset/pass .flashing takes 3-10 minutes on average the s4 takes little longer than older galaxy's used to.
Your all done Back to as STOCK AS YOU CAN GET

[Q] Bad rom flash. Restored but have no network. My phone number is also wrong.

So I screwed myself. Using twrp, I did a data wipe instead of the other option, and I tried flashing a rom that I got for a different carrier than sprint on accident, that installed and froze at start up before full boot when I realized what I had done.
I did have a backup of my rom I had made before doing this (a stock rom with twrp recovery and root) , but restoring it left me with no network. Sprint tries to set up, but can't connect. trying to make a phone call gives me a "has not activated message". I flashed the modem and tried installing a different rom as well (jelly splash v19) but same problems.
I have the rom to remove recovery, root, mod count, and make it all factory again, found here, but I'm afraid that won't fix this problem and I'll be left worse off not having root and twrp, command terminal, etc.
Phone status:
Network listed as Samsung
Mobile Network eHRPD:13
Service State: In Service
Not Roaming
Mobile Network State: Disconnected
My Phone Number: 000-000-3891
MIN:0000003891
Prl version:2000
MEID is correct and I don't think IMEI is a generic one.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Try downloading again or using Odin to push custom recovery and flashing a stock based ROM.
Make sure you didn't leave anything checked in Odin you weren't explicitly told to leave checked (I can't remember the exact box I'm thinking of but it has to do with partitions) I lost an admire to a hard brick like that once.

It will confirm that the phone isn't hard bricked and allow you to use the phone at least.
From there you can try Mobil Odin on the off chance that its a PC issue.

why is twrp asking me for a password when their is none and when i press cancel and view my file it say my sdcard and ext has 0bytes
Well, that's not good.
Um... I've never had that happen.
But SD and ext showing 0 tells me those partitions were wiped and possibly resized.
I don't know how to rebuild partitions though.
Maybe ask in the twrp thread about the password issue. I've never seen that in 5 years of modding my phones.
The fact that recovery boots at all is promising but I'm not sure if its gonna fix your problem to be honest.

If you can get past the password and get ADB running you may be able to rebuild the partition tables using ADB commands.

Wait... So you CAN get in to flash a ROM but the recovery isn't seeing the partitions unless you're tying to backup the current ROM?
Do you have a backup already made that you can try restoring?
Also, did you ask about the password issue in the twrp thread?

[Q] Sprint Note 2 softbrick help?

Hello,
I've spent this weekend pouring over google, bing, and all sorts of different forums, and nothing I've tried has fixed the issue.
I've got a Note 2 on Sprint that I've managed to soft-brick. I can boot into download mode, but I can't boot into recovery. When I try to, it stays on the Note 2 splash screen.
I can get Odin to communicate with the phone, and it always fails at the same step: sboot.bin. I've tried several of the custom recoveries, as well as several of the different self-extracting one-click back to stock. Nothing I've tried has worked.
What is the next step that I can try? What other information do you need from me to help troubleshoot this thing?
Thanks!
Have you tried Kies?

I've managed to soft-brick, firm-brick and semi-hard brick my phone and always managed to find a way to resolve it. If Kies can't communicate with the phone to do the firmware recovery then you might need to reinstall the samsung usb drivers. Also does the computer recognize that you connected the isb cable? If so you're still able to recover the phone!

Also try using an older version of Odin to see if it helps along with an older cwm and check to see if it helps as well. If you still cant recover then you might have hard bricked the phone
