Has any one seen the new update for the Xperia Play? I have not updated yet, however I was hopeing that some one can shed some light on this update, as I am not sure if it is ICS or is it a normal firmware upgrade? I am on 2.3.3, on R800i. Should I do the upgrade to 4.0.2 or no?
this will be 2.3.4 update^^
edit: nevermind.
sry for offtop.
Didn't 2.3.4 come out months ago?
4.0.2.A.0.42 came out a few months ago and is already available on the Dev forums. Could be that your carrier is pushing it now.

2.3.4 Came out sometime ago. I know there was a couple post regarding 2.3.7 but I don't know whatever came of that.
No, this 2.3.7 post was a serious fake.

Hi guys and gals.
Right I have had my play for a while now , love the phone and I know that this might seem a noob question but there seems to be alot of speculation around if the play will officially get ice cream sandwich , I have held back from unlocking the bootloader and installing a custom Rom as I don't want to void the warranty.
Can anyone say officially if out lovely plays will get this upgrade.
Thanks
Chris .

hi Alex,
The ICS Update for our play's is set to be release from april-may of this year.
It's probably going to be release alongside PlayStation Suite, so if we get one of the two, be excited for the other, cause we're probably gonna get it too!
If you have a Verizon PLAY (And if you do, you're a sorry bastard. The thing gets ZERO development), then I'd go ahead and unlock the bootloader now. You aren't getting ICS from the big red anytime soon, so your best bet is CM9.

Do you think that the r800at (AT&T) will get the update?
Nope not mate using a three UK branded handset , so do you think that could slow my update ?

You don't need to relock it, just flash the ICS .ftf file via flashtool once it's released
Thank u
thanks so much where will i find this .ftf file?

desperately waiting for this update !
I have both a Xperia play and a sgs 2 with ICS, after a few days of playing around with it, you seem to forget it's there. If there is a choice between ICS, and PlayStation suite. I would rather have the PS suite.
I would rather have more games, than something you will forget is there after a few days

No, it's always been end of April/early May for Xperia Play, as stated in the Sony Developer Blog post from December 2011 here: http://blogs.sonymobile.com/products/2011/12/21/ice-cream-sandwich-coming-to-2011-xperia%E2%84%A2-smartphones-from-end-marchearly-april-2012/
I only hope Play will get some different skin for ICS. Xperia S got nice one framework, hope we will get something tasty. If not, then devs are my hope again.
*Ignore this messsage*
Personally, I think that Sony's Xperia skin looks like a bunch of piss.
...and don't even get me started on that keyboard.
ICS BETA was recently launch a few weeks ago and there were allot of development done using that. It was only for arc s, ray and neo v and was already ported to be use with the arc and the neo. I wonder if there are people that are good enough to port it for the Xperia pro. I really want to try it but after the new Xperia 2011 was released Xperia pro was left out by Sony and all the new things were dedicated to the newer phones. I would be grateful if someone can port this ICS for the Xperia pro user.
Thanks.

I want ICS to on my xperia pro. No themes about our phone. :-(

Have you tried just flashing it and see what happens (might be dangerous...). The ICS beta for Neo V works ok if I flash it without any patches to my Neo.
Maybe just try to flash ICS beta for Xperia Neo V and if it works try the patches for the Neo and see what happens.
Has the ics lt15i update gone live tried updating but no luck , have global generic unlocked so which region is getting it if any source was android authority http://www.androidauthority.com/xperia-arc-lt15i-official-android-4-0-ics-firmware-79437/

Did you even read what's written on that site?
It's a guide on how to flash the LT18i ICS update onto a LT15i

Yes I read it did you? What does it say at the start Sony has released lt15i Rom . I couldn't check it though because site hosting ftf is down. Wasn't sure if they had got it right thats why asking question.

Of course I read it and it says:
"Installing the ICS firmware
Download the official ICS firmware (LT18_4.1.A.0.562_NCB.ftf, md5sum: c1ae2eef1677a7aa72db7430e516ea4c) file for the Xperia Arc from here and save it to our PC."
--> Arc S firmware

yes just checked the news feed from stock news and weather feed widget on arc where I got article from and it has changed from the url I put in first post to another about arc s. But whatever still think article was a bit misleading and not very well worded from start.

In Sony Blog was said "Following on, Xperia arc, Xperia PLAY, Xperia neo, Xperia mini, Xperia mini pro, Xperia pro, Xperia active and Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman will receive their scoop starting from the end of May/early June.*"
Source: http://talk.sonymobile.com/thread/36530
So we have to wait about a month to official ICS update for our LT15i devices
How is the ICS in Arc s, is it better than GB? Is there any bug?
Is it easy to root for Locked BL?

Hello, my daddy got a xperia go.
Im wondering if its worth upgrading it to ICS ?
Is it smooth?
I got a arc, and the specs are very similar, im running ICS with no issue. Thats why i ask here too
I wouldn't see why not. ICS should be smoother on the Go because it haw a dual-core processor if I remember correctly.
