Has any one seen the new update for the Xperia Play? I have not updated yet, however I was hopeing that some one can shed some light on this update, as I am not sure if it is ICS or is it a normal firmware upgrade? I am on 2.3.3, on R800i. Should I do the upgrade to 4.0.2 or no?
this will be 2.3.4 update^^
edit: nevermind.
sry for offtop.
Didn't 2.3.4 come out months ago?
4.0.2.A.0.42 came out a few months ago and is already available on the Dev forums. Could be that your carrier is pushing it now.

2.3.4 Came out sometime ago. I know there was a couple post regarding 2.3.7 but I don't know whatever came of that.
No, this 2.3.7 post was a serious fake.

Hey guys,I'm now an official member of this section since I got my ion around 4 hours ago.I hope you can teach me more about this phone since I just move from Xperia mini pro
Well,I got some question regarding about this phone :
What's new in this update?Since my phone is ICS when it's out of box...
So...should I upgrade?Since I just got the phone (and I don't want to root or unlock its bootloader yet since it still have 364 days of warranty left lol)

my phone is up to date with ics 4.0.4 and firmware .A.2.45
i just connect my phone to pc companion and it said a new software update is available for your phone..
its takein 3 hrs for downloading the update. so i think its a big software update.
after ics, only jellybean is available. so may be jellybean is out??
I received this update too, though mine downloaded in about 10 minutes, I didn't pay much attention to it. Nothing seems to have changed on the phone, not even when I look at the 'Status' information. Can't find anything on the Sony sites about it either. Very curious.

POST UR QUESTIONS HERE:
UPDATE 28.4.2013
Update is delayed but will come during 5 month of the year now. most likely in the middle to end of next month, so expect it to arrive in 15.5.2013 - 31.5.2013
Considering it is right, JB will come around 11 months after ICS update...
Thankxx for sharing. Mind if I ask when for ion?

This update scheme obviously complies to "3"-branded software. Have a look at release week for Xperia V, 3 says week 7, but we know that update came 2 weeks ago, ie week 5.

debranded, non branded phones
This release is internationnal, no carriesr tied. its for all devices with no carriers things.
sony may surprise us, but may surprise the bad way too by being late too, so.
this info is international version.
ION WILL GET JB goodies around same time....within 1,5 month after Xperia s. I say around same time.
According to Phonearena.com/Xperia blog. Read below:

they said at the beginning of april. now may. and then june. july. and there will be no JB.
LOL just kidding.
im sitting here nicely waiting for the JB update.
eventhou im very excited xD
Meh, by this time I'll buy One X or LG Nexus, something with Android 4.1/4.2. SXS is good phone, but Nexus 4 tempts me more
Now I am 100% sure that the update will come in april.

There is no info that Sony is releasing update in may, maybe only SFR branded version will be avaible then. There is no need to make false sensation.

I'm far from making any false sensations. Maybe only branded version comes in may, maybe not. We'll see.
Enough with these rumors, it'll come when it'll come. Otherwise it's setting people up for disappointments.
It is not confirmed that Xperia s jellybean update will come to everyone in may,for example the galaxy note is updated in some countries but according to this carrier the jb update for galaxy note is expected to release in may

Please take closer look on the table with Sony...
Xperia S 6.1.A.2.45 - v. 17 Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean)
6.1.a.2.45 is ICS!!
WE CANNOT BE SURE THERE IS MISMATCH WITH SW VERSION OR ANDROID VERSION!
This is useless in my opinion...

I guess that is software version of current sw and that is planned to upgrade to JB in week 17. I bought phone in Sweden and 6.1.A.2.45 is latest software for that country.
I really do like Sony products (my Xperia S will be a solid phone for a few years atleast), but the way Sony is releasing updates to our phone is just sad. It's not like Samsung which has gazillions of phones and i would image they'd have some problems in releasing updates in time for all their models.
Good thing that community is ahead and has a lot of 4.1 ROMs and a few based on 4.2. +1 for xda devs :victory:
Another speculation/rumor thread? With all due respect this is ridiculous. An admin clearly stated that these (future) threads are to be locked

Wait with yours phones ready for update because this update is awesome!
If I OTA update my Xperia ZL to 4.3 I loose root right? At least this was the case with previous updates iirc. For those who installed the leak is there a working root method out there?

Yes you would lose root... Not a big deal if you're UB... more of a pain if you're LB...

Will it release for all regions at the same time? I don't think so. I think it will be release in phase based on region. What do you think?

But Sony is not BlackBerry. One is a worldwide giant, the other in oxygen support literally. Sony has never done the mistake of BlackBerry. I own a BlackBerry playbook and guess what? Is a dead device, no future upgrade or patches and BlackBerry does not have plans in releasing another tablet.
