Hi guys,
I've rewrited my htc's rom and after restarting my phone iam seeing only HTC logo so I think that my phone has no ROM now (flashing took too short, i know my bad, needed to flash it again...). There will be no problem, but my + and - buttons doesn't work, so i can't open my recovery menu. Any ideas? Thanks )

It is not bricked if you can at least turn something on.
I think Back + Power will get you to fastboot menu at least
Try Bortak's troublehooting guide, it's stickied to the top of Q&A.
You'll probably need to flash 2.3.3 RUU.
To flash RUU you need to fully turn on the phone. And about fastboot... I can boot into it, but i cant navigate there, because my + and - doesn't work :/

You can flash the RUU in fastboot mode. You dont need it to boot into android.
Like eddiehk6 said, since your volume rocker buttons dont work you can use back and power to boot directly into fastboot. Then you can run the ruu from there.
So i need just open official RUU 2.3.3 and do usual ****? (when my phone is in fastboot)

Exactly.
Wait a sec, no need to flash the dangerous ruu. just plug you're phone to PC via USB and turn it on, in whichever mode it is use command line to restart it to recovery.
adb reboot recovery
With ruu you can brick it for real

Then what does he do?
Ur assuming he is s-off or rooted with custom recovery. If hes never rooted and is stock s-on then the only option is what has been suggested above.

Hi all,
I have read docs until I am blue in the face and I cant get my phone going again. I fear I am going around in circles.
I had a defrost 2.2 installed and i thought I would put a latest radio on and try a gingerbread rom(Oxygen v2.0 RC5).
I only got the white HTC screen after this.
I fear I might have probs with s-off or something..
I cant get my clockwork recovery working now and I cant get the adb stuff working either.
I have tried unrevoked,recovery-windows.bat,and now alpharev - tinycore.
I am stuck with the trusty old red triangle. argghh
Thanks in advance

If you are S-Off -> fastboot flash a recovery
If not -> get a RUU for your device
In any case: search and post in Q&A

Thank you will do - Wasnt paying attention. Just frantically trying to get my phone back.
How do you install an RUU? I only have the red triangle with an exclamation mark if I start my recovery up.
I have tried 2 diff pcs now to no avail.
TIA
Did you S-Off? To check you can just hold VolumeDown when powering on the phone, if it says Alpharev ... S-OFF then you are fine. You can try to use this fastboot commander http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=823315 to flash back a custom recovery an then do everything from there (careful: don't flash anyting else as long as you are not sure what you are doing. Especially don't flash a hboot...).
If you don't have S-Off get this RUU http://shipped-roms.com/shipped/Bra...9.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_157522_signed.exe
Make sure the HTC Sync stuff is installed on your Windows PC (the drivers are needed). Power on the phone and connect it to the pc.
Run The RUU...exe and follow the instructions. If it does not work you need a goldcard:

I have flashed loads and loads of Roms and this is the first that caused me agg and as we are having a baby I was worried about not having my phone - doh.
It appears that all I needed to do was clear some data. I was sure I tried this but maybe I was panicking too much.
Still no RUU stuff was even realising the phone was there. So Goldcard it would have been.
Thanks for all your help
Hello
Seriously need some help from you guys.
Today I flash CM7 and it worked OK, but when i used Rom manager to restore a backup( with leedroid 2.4 or something) the phone rebooted but:
A red triangle is showing and I cannot access recovery and the phone wont boot cm7 again it just shows the cm7 boot up animation but nothings happens(been waiting for 30 mins)
I can access the hboot menu with volume - when I start the phone but the same red triangle from this recovery.
Hope the phone not is bricked
Any ideas guys?
Thanx

But this I will look into tomorrow.
Thanx for great help
try to verify the drivers or make a reboot on pc and phone and wait
As per topic, power button is busted. Phone not worth repairing due to age. Other android devices I've used had ROMs which let you use volume buttons or sweep/slide to wake. What about trackball button?
But how will you boot lol. TB wake up is avlbl in a no of ROMs. But that is only after booting.
Quite a few Roms have Trackball (or Volume) Wake included, CyanogenMod (CM7) for example. Read the first couple of posts in each of the Rom threads, that will generally tell you if its included.
Also have a read of this thread (yes, it's for the NexusOne but most of the info will be pertinent) : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1551762
But how will you boot lol.

Exactly the same way as you boot a N1 with a broken power button (extremely common in that phone).
It works sometimes but not reliable. I can do reboots etc using adb and once a touch recovery is installed, then no probs. I have used sweep2wake on a desire s which was a great mod.
I did check some of the desire ROMs but didn't notice the feature. I'll give some of them a shot tonight.
Going directly to recovery or fastboot from power off is still going to be a problem though.
Doesn't matter now, no matter what I do, button not responding at all. So another phone for the scrapheap

The replacement board for all those buttons is like $50AUD on ebay plus repair job....not worth it at all. Time for them to upgrade anyway

Shame. If it were booted, depending on what hboot u have u coulda used revolutionary to s-off and get CWM. Then use adb to boot into recovery and flash superuser then reboot, download and install 4ext recovery updater app and flash 4ext recovery (touch screen) and from there flash new rom then u would be sorted.

You can certainly root and do whatever without the power button. After flashing a custom rom with Trackball Wake and installing QuickBoot, the only nuisance is turning it on if you let the battery go flat.

Or turning it off to swap SIMs with another phone
QuickBoot handles powering off, so it just comes down to how inconvenient you find the method used to turn the phone back on.
broken volume buttons
Hi there, My issue is a little different, and I am a noob at these things . I have inherited a desire with broken volume keys (planning on getting fixed) I have been able to S-Off but I can't work out how to root it without volume keys, I have 4ext recovery from app store on phone but without root it won"t install, once I get the info on how to install root another way i know that I can install 4ext and them find a awesome ics rom as 4ext is touch capable.
So if anyone can Give me a step by step to load root through adb or any other way I would appreciate it immensely.

I tried a program called Universal Android AIO Flasher Tool$, I found the 4xt image and used that program to flash, now I will try your command to get recovery.
I will post back if it works.
ok download the recovery.img and put it directly into ur c:\ drive then turn off ur phone and then hold back button + power. that boots u into fastboot.
plug in ur phone (usb) and run this command -
fastboot flash recovery c:\recovery.img
if it works u will have to boot ur phone up and then use the ADB again to try boot into recovery coz ur buttons dont work
adb reboot recovery
(recovery.img is the latest 4ext recovery)
hello
after sending it to the repair because it was not able to turn on, my htc desire now boots again but stucks on htc black screen with /!\ In every corner, when i put it on pc via usb and pull it this message appears:
repaired by ORT
BRAVO PVT1 SHIP S-OFF
HBOOT- 6.93.1002
MICROP-031d
TOUCH PANEK-SYNT0101
RADIO-5.11.05.27
so help me please what can i do to repair it myself ? i tought a S-OFF desire is easy to be repaired so i wish it's true !
thank you
Nevermind. Still learning.
/!\ in 4 corners means its pretty much ruu mode. So ul need to flash a ruu.
Try this first, Because ur s-off pull the battery out and put back in then press and hold back button then press and hold power button (so both same time) and see what comes up. Either it will boot into fastboot normaly, or boot into fastboot but with ruu in pink or it will just display the /!\ again.
Ps: jordyNL, its not radio brick, just ruu mode.

What is your aim, I assume you still want a custom ROM?
So you can't boot into bootloader (Volume down + power) or fastboot (Back + power) at all? If you can get to either of these you can flash a new recovery through fastboot, then full wipe and install a ROM like before.
Otherwise I think you will need to flash RUU as advised, find the 2.3.3. GB RUU, don't be scared of flashing it. Yes if you do it correctly you will make it S-ON...but you can always S-OFF again, just like you got it S-OFF in the first place
i want any ROM that makes it work, and i tried both things " back + power" & "volume down+ power" but it still boots with 4 triangles, and also i don't want to make it S-ON because i don't know how to make it S-OFF again cuz it can't boot in fastboot or recovery ! that's the problem !

Again, don't worry about that. Once you flash the RUU everything will be reset as normal, that's the whole point.
You have two options:
- Do nothing, try all button combinations and keep seeing those 4 triangles...
- Flash the RUU to get it booting. It's the first step in making anything work. I assure you that you can S-OFF once again...
Your choice
okay but how S-OFF again ? and what RUU should i choose ??
Like posted above, use the 2.3gb upgrade. Then to s-off after that use revolutionary. It will s-off ur phone in 2 mins, its really simple.
but the problem in revolutionary is that always when i run it it says "waiting for device" and never detects my device i don't know why !!! and about 2.3GB ruu can u send me the link ?? and should i look for the radio version for every RUU i try to use ?? i wish you answer all this questions plz !! i'm sorry for all that
I'm on phone right now, can't find links as easy, but I promise if you use the internet you'll find what you're looking for...applies to most things actually
As for revolutionary, likely you didn't follow a guide and didn't install the correct hboot drivers? Again find the drivers and a (video) guide by searching.

Vibrates 7 times usually means hardware problem. U can only s-off if the phone is working/booting. Where did u send it for repair? Coz they obviously didnt fix it

The 7 vibrations may indicate hardware failure unfortunately.
However one step at a time...Have you looked the troubleshooting guide?
Have you actually tried running the RUU yet?
You need to get the phone booting properly first. Revolutionary runs when the phone is booted into the OS I believe, not from bootloader.
Which drivers did you install? These are not the same ones when you install htc sync.
You should learn fastboot anyway, again find a guide. You can't s-off the desire with fastboot though.
i sent it to repair in my country ! algeria, it was on bad situation " doesn't boot at all nor charge, like dead phone" so he worked on it i think he does ORT jtag to boot it again, but still on 4 triangles !! so it's sure hardware problem ?? can't be fixed without changing a motherboard ?!

After you get it booting, then you will need to find and install the modified hboot drivers (not normal android usb drivers). Search for a specific revolutionary guide to explain it. The link is also on the revolutionary faq page

Hi, I bought my HTC 10 around 7 months ago and a few weeks ago it restarted and it´s kept restarting since then. I tried doing a hard reset from the recovery because it doesn´t boot properly, but it didn´t work. I wanted to flash the RUU but I couldn´t find the right one on HTC SUPPORT. I wanted to try rooting my device and wiping data using TWRP to install a ROM and see if this could work, but as my phone doesn´t boot, I can´t unlock the OEM or debug developer mode.
Now I can´t even access to recovery mode so I can´t check my OS model, I just can access to bootloader mode.
If anyone can help me I´d really appreciate it.

I was able to use it for a few minutes and then it restarted again untill the point that it doesn´t boot anymore. The only thing I have done is a hard reset from recovery, but it keeps restarting. Now I can´t boot to download mode that´s why I haven´t flashed the RUU, I just can boot into bootloader mode and when I try to boot into recovery or download mode from there it restarts again.
im having the same issue.
the buttons randomly stopped working, so i restarted the phone only to be greeted with a bootloop.
i had lineage os on my phone for a while, and today i installed a update, so that might be related to the sudden bootloop.
when i press vol down + power it just boot loops. if i press vol up + vol down it boots into the bootloader.
trying to start download or recovery mode just gets me into a boot loop again.
the bootloader says s-on.
i just found this in another thread

Unbelievable - I actually managed to unbrick my HTC 10!! :victory::victory::victory: I still don't understand exactly what happened, but I'll document everything I did...
Before:
S-ON
Flashed bad boot image in download mode
Could not enter download, RUU, recovery, or system mode - all of them enter into bootloop
Could only enter white background bootloader mode (Volume Up + Volume Down + Power), which only allows flashing signed hosd image
What I did:
Followed @Tarima's link above. With the phone in the white background bootloader mode, I ran fastboot flash $x $x.img with $x = each of the partitions. Except for hosd, all the other commands printed an error like
Code:
sending 'xbl' (1809 KB)... OKAY
writing 'xbl'... FAILED (remote: cannot flash this partition in s-on state)
but I continued anyway.
Selected "REBOOT TO BOOTLOADER" from white background bootloader
Downloaded an RUU exe file from here (I got the 1.96.617.20 version, but in hindsight it probably doesn't matter which version), and extracted an RUU zip file (following this guide on Linux)
Renamed the RUU ZIP to 2PS6IMG.zip, copied it to the root of an empty FAT32-formatted microSD card, and inserted the card into the HTC 10 (inspired by this post and this post)
Selected "BOOT TO DOWNLOAD MODE" from white background bootloader
This triggered a screen prompting whether to install update from SD card (photo).
I didn't need to actually install the update from the SD card; instead, the presence of a valid update on the SD card may have short-circuited whatever was causing the download mode to crash loop, and allowed the phone to enter download mode and accept fastboot flash commands. Since my problem was a bad boot image, I just did
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
with the boot.img extracted from the official Nougat OTA zip's firmware.zip, and it worked! Phone was able to boot back into system / download / RUU / recovery. :victory:
I'd already given up hope and bought another HTC 10 off Swappa I've now learned my lesson and I'm going to S-OFF at once.

I´m gonna give it a try, but I´m not sure if it´s gonna work. Hopefully I might be able to boot into download mode and get to know my CID. Thanks
i promised to update once i tested the methode. sadly it didnt seem to work for me.
flashing hosd worked like in jichuan89 case. but puting the 2PS6IMG.zip into a formatted sd card didnt seem to work for me.
booting into download mode sill gives me a bootloop.
unless someone comes up with a new idea on how to fix this, i might have to get a new phone :/

If you didn't do anything to your phone it's probably the battery. This is the most talked about problem in these forums. Can you boot to download mode? If so what's your CID?

That's all good but unfortunately if you can't boot to download mode you can't flash RUU. Also if the method above didn't work i think it's time to send it to HTC or but a new phine

Alright, thanks for your help
Hi Guys,
I think the problem causes by power and volume keys' ribbon. When i try pressing and holding power and volume down keys the gray HTC logo appears. But when i try pressing only volume down key the gray HTC logo appears again. As if power button always pressing itself. I'm gonna try remove connection after normal HTC logo disappears. If it fix the problem i will inform you again. Wish me luck :fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed:

Unfortunately i buried my htc 10 with a ceremony
I have exactly the same problem. Word by word of what is described here. I feel no linger alone ahah.
So I have two questions. You basically just copy de zip file named accordingly into an SD card and follow the steps? Can I do this on a Mac?
