[Q] desire stucks black screen htc with /!\ In every corner - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hello
after sending it to the repair because it was not able to turn on, my htc desire now boots again but stucks on htc black screen with /!\ In every corner, when i put it on pc via usb and pull it this message appears:
repaired by ORT
BRAVO PVT1 SHIP S-OFF
HBOOT- 6.93.1002
MICROP-031d
TOUCH PANEK-SYNT0101
RADIO-5.11.05.27
so help me please what can i do to repair it myself ? i tought a S-OFF desire is easy to be repaired so i wish it's true !
thank you

Nevermind. Still learning.

/!\ in 4 corners means its pretty much ruu mode. So ul need to flash a ruu.
Try this first, Because ur s-off pull the battery out and put back in then press and hold back button then press and hold power button (so both same time) and see what comes up. Either it will boot into fastboot normaly, or boot into fastboot but with ruu in pink or it will just display the /!\ again.
Ps: jordyNL, its not radio brick, just ruu mode.

What is your aim, I assume you still want a custom ROM?
So you can't boot into bootloader (Volume down + power) or fastboot (Back + power) at all? If you can get to either of these you can flash a new recovery through fastboot, then full wipe and install a ROM like before.
Otherwise I think you will need to flash RUU as advised, find the 2.3.3. GB RUU, don't be scared of flashing it. Yes if you do it correctly you will make it S-ON...but you can always S-OFF again, just like you got it S-OFF in the first place

i want any ROM that makes it work, and i tried both things " back + power" & "volume down+ power" but it still boots with 4 triangles, and also i don't want to make it S-ON because i don't know how to make it S-OFF again cuz it can't boot in fastboot or recovery ! that's the problem !

Again, don't worry about that. Once you flash the RUU everything will be reset as normal, that's the whole point.
You have two options:
- Do nothing, try all button combinations and keep seeing those 4 triangles...
- Flash the RUU to get it booting. It's the first step in making anything work. I assure you that you can S-OFF once again...
Your choice

okay but how S-OFF again ? and what RUU should i choose ??

Like posted above, use the 2.3gb upgrade. Then to s-off after that use revolutionary. It will s-off ur phone in 2 mins, its really simple.

but the problem in revolutionary is that always when i run it it says "waiting for device" and never detects my device i don't know why !!! and about 2.3GB ruu can u send me the link ?? and should i look for the radio version for every RUU i try to use ?? i wish you answer all this questions plz !! i'm sorry for all that

I'm on phone right now, can't find links as easy, but I promise if you use the internet you'll find what you're looking for...applies to most things actually
As for revolutionary, likely you didn't follow a guide and didn't install the correct hboot drivers? Again find the drivers and a (video) guide by searching.

if u click the troubleshooting guide by bortak in my sig then ul find 2.3gb ruu there, in resources. and like eddie said u prob dont have the drivers installed, thats why u get the "waiting for device"

i tried to boot it via the command "fastboot oem boot", it boots with white screen and green HTC logo, and vibrates 7 times and then returns to the black triangles screen ! what does it mean ??
also i want to know more about fasboot commands and how to use them, and if can i S-OFF it again with fastboot commands if the RUU doesn't work ! because revolutionary still can't find my phone and the drivers are installed correctly !

Vibrates 7 times usually means hardware problem. U can only s-off if the phone is working/booting. Where did u send it for repair? Coz they obviously didnt fix it

The 7 vibrations may indicate hardware failure unfortunately.
However one step at a time...Have you looked the troubleshooting guide?
Have you actually tried running the RUU yet?
You need to get the phone booting properly first. Revolutionary runs when the phone is booted into the OS I believe, not from bootloader.
Which drivers did you install? These are not the same ones when you install htc sync.
You should learn fastboot anyway, again find a guide. You can't s-off the desire with fastboot though.

i sent it to repair in my country ! algeria, it was on bad situation " doesn't boot at all nor charge, like dead phone" so he worked on it i think he does ORT jtag to boot it again, but still on 4 triangles !! so it's sure hardware problem ?? can't be fixed without changing a motherboard ?!

After you get it booting, then you will need to find and install the modified hboot drivers (not normal android usb drivers). Search for a specific revolutionary guide to explain it. The link is also on the revolutionary faq page

if i can boot it it means the problem is solved !! so about the RUU i tried several times before getting it S-OFF !! so it was S-ON and i tried a lot of RUU's and always problem with RADIO it can't flash it !!

HELP - HTC Desire Can't access to fastboot (Recovery) - I have S-OFF

Hi,
your help is very apreciated.
I have a HTC Desire (Bravo) and MIUI rom. Today, I try to update the ROM version from 2.3.4.a1 to 2.3.5.a1, I simply go to recovery, and make clear cache, clear Dalvik and install de new rom.
After, the phone start well, but when I make the first reboot, the phone get in a loop on rom (Miui) boot screen and never start (only turn off taking off the battery).
When I try to get into recovery using fastboot, it doesn't work, I push vol down + power, but the Desire always start normaly and freeze in boot screen, fastboot NEVER is showed.
Can you help me please?
p.d:I have the S-Off
Thank you in advance
Try pressing the 'Back' button and power instead. If you can get in to that then it can be fixed.

we would love to help you out buddy.....but you need to give us further details of your issue such as;
- is your SD a Gold Card?
- were you still able to boot into normal mode?
- what is the ROM you are talking about?
- what is your Hboot?
- is your phone S-On or S-Off?
- what were the attempts you have made in trying to resolve the issue?
If you could provide such details or more than that then you put the chances of resolving your problem as fast as it can be.
Cheers mate.

Get on your computer, make sure you have the Android SDK installed (you need adb), open up a command prompt and run "adb reboot bootloader" to get into HBOOT or "adb reboot recovery" to boot into recovery. Keep sending one of these commands until it works. You could also run "adb devices" multiple times during boot to find out if your phone is recognized at some point. If it is, the above commands will work.

[Q] desire - tried ruu @ cm7r2

Hi,
I made a mistake and tried to flash RUU at cm7r2 partition without downgrading. Now I'm stuck at htc screen with triangles and "!" in the corners of screen. RUU reports error 152, which is unremovable after restarts of ruu. I can't get to fastboot. When i disconnect USB there's info at the screen:
RUU:
[1] bootloader - bypassed
[2] radio_v2 - ok
...
[6] system - fail-PU
So:
1. am I bricked?
2. whre to find some help?
3. maybe somebody can help now?
Greets!
can youu get acces to fastboot devices or hboot when you connect your phone via usb even with the black screen?
If you can, you could sort it i think with manual fastboot command!
I never had this kind of issue, i hope someone can bring you some more help.
no, I can't get to fastboot...
EDIT: I tried to flash proper Hboot via Android Flasher (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=794638), but it also reports error: unable to find 'Data\hboot.img'.
waiting for reply...
What happens if you try to access Fastboot?
Even if you don't have the fastboot screen, try to connect the phone to your computer and run the : fastboot devices command, if your phone is listed, then you can still use fastboot command!
adb devices doesn't list my device...
when I restart the phone, there's just htc logo and those triangles in corners...
Do you still have the alpharev cm7 hboot on your phone? Turn it on holding volume down, it should say at the top what hboot you have.

for me the problem was that I didn't understand, that adb and fastboot are separate programs (or so), and I can still flash new hboot via fastboot even if adb doesn't "see" my phone... so I even couldn't explain my problem precisely; ehhh, those newbies...

Swyped from SGS2.
All you have to do is flash bravo_stock from alpharev, then flash the RUU again.
When you get a RUU fail, the phone is stuck in RUU mode, which is basically the same as fastboot since it still receives fastboot commands, so you can still flash things.
It's solved already.

HTC DESIRE unroot with RUU 2.3.3 failed

Hi guys.
I know there are several posts already opened about this, but I`ve tried all I read there and nothing worked.
I wanted to send my rooted Desire back for repairs(camera LED broken thanks to a Torch app), and wanted to unroot it before I do.
I`ve read on some posts that u can unroot the phone by running the official Gingerbread 2.3.3 RUU found on htcdev.com (the official RUU), so I downloaded the RUU, installed hTC Sync, installed the Desire`s USB drivers(the same one`s that are required when rooting with Revolutionary).
The RUU started installing, the phone rebooted into the HTC splash screen and the "update" of the RUU started going, both PC and phone showed the cursor of the installing process, and at about 90% the PC gave me an error (update error).
I`ve tried again and again to run the RUU but everytime, it failed. And now, my Desire just won`t boot. I`ve taken the battery out, put it back, turned it on, and the only thing that appers on the screen is the white HTC logo on a black background, with 4 icons in each corner of the screen(looks just like the icon that appears when u plug in the usb cable with USB debugging mode ON).
Volume-down+Power and BACK+Power don`t work anymore, even though I press them, the phone just simply ignores the keys and takes me back to the before mentioned hTC splash screen.
I know this is probably something I did wrong, but if there`s any one kind enough to help me out with this, I`d deeply appreciate it.
Thank you!

It doesn`t say anything.
This is what I do:
1. Take the battery out.
2. Put the battery back in place
3. Try turning phone on using: Volume-down+Power -> the phone doesn`t show anything, it simply takes me to the HTC logo(white HTC logo on black background. It does the same thing if I turn it on using BACK+Power)
If I try running the RUU again, the installer gives me the next message: Error[152]: image update error.
From what I`ve read, this is a radio error which can only be fixed by hTC. Could that be true?
Also, after the RUU gives me the above error, if I unplug the USB cable, the phone shows following:
*************
RUU
Radio_V2 - OK
Splash1 - OK
Recovery - OK
Splash2 - OK
Radio_cust - OK
Bootloader - Bypassed
Userdata - OK
System - Fail-PU
Boot - OK

oh you're still S-OFF?
You're automatically in fastboot when you turn on since your phone is like that so just turn it on, plug it in first flash this and then flash this, Then run the RUU again.
Yes, I`m still S-OFF.
How do I flash them if I can`t access recovery using Volume-down+Power or BACK+Power?
I`ve downloaded the first one, renamed it into PB99IMG.zip, put it on root of SD CARD, turned phone ON and it takes me to the same htc logo screen as before.
LE
Tried with Android Flasher, but it gets stuck when trying to flash the bravo_alphaspl.img that u`ve given me.
So basically, I can`t enter Clockworkmod, I can`t enter the bootloader menu by turning on phone usine Volume-down+Power / Back+Power, and the phone is stuck in the HTC logo, while still S-OFF-ed, also the 2.3.3 official RUU gives me the error at the end of the installing process.
Does anyone have any idea what I could do?

He probably figured out that he has to use the fastboot flash boot *name of img* command or Android Flasher on that screen with the 4 ! At the corner instead of renaming to PB99IMG and attempting to flash it on the phone.

but i dont know how to do it from fastboot. i need an explaination of the process.

HTCDEV HBOOT -> brick

I tried installing the htcdev hboot extracting the rom.zip -> PB99IMG.zip using a Goldcard and Fastboot yesterday.
All went fine, but after the reboot the screen just stayed black.
Now when I try to get into Hboot, Fastboot, or a regular boot - all that happens is a black screen.
When connectiong power without battery the leds flash green and orange (as normal) and it still charges the battery.
Any advice?
S-ON, HTC_102, won't show in fastboot when I try to get into Hboot, Fastboot, or a regular boot.
No buzz when trying to turn it on.

I had the same problem about a year ago. Unfortunately it means the hboot flashing DIDN'T go fine. The HBOOT didn't flash, or got corrupted somehow, effectively leaving your phone as a brick. I took mine to the service provider and they did a motherboard swap under warranty. Sorry for the bad news, but from my experience there's no way to recover without opening up the phone.

JTAG is fine with me - I just haven't found the necessary files/commands to flash it yet.
In my sig you have an explanation how it all works, so I think you have hboot brick. If your screen stays black no matter how you turn it on, that's it.

Really good explanation. btw my hboot dead looks a little different and I can't see the the 4 exclamation mark situation in your brick guide
So not even with JTAG?

I am curious. What were you trying to do? You could have just run the 2.3 RUU ? BTW from htcdev you get the 2.3 RUU which does not require a goldcard.

No I couldn't, because it wouldn't boot past the HTC screen anymore without adb working (got the phone in that state).
I also had the WWE_2.29.405.5 prepared to flash via Goldcard, but I didn't expect the hboot flash to fail.
Bad luck or what did I miss?
Can you boot to fastboot/bootloader?

But you said you used fastboot earlier. You could have executed 2.3 RUU from PC while the device was in fastboot mode.

Ah, I tried that before on my windows machine but I couldn't get RUU to recognize the device - that might have been because of the unrevoked driver though ... not sure.
And again, can you boot your phone to fastboot/bootloader???

I think is gsm . P/N:99hkz061-00 . HTC bravo A8181
brevious hboot : cm7r2 . and I flash stock hboot . after reboot, black screen.
Try to restart it with power+volume down and connect it to PC. If PC recognizes the phone, it's on no matter that screen is off. Try to see if fastboot commands work in that state and try to flash downgrader and then to run 2.3 ruu.

[Q] Major problem HTC HDH. Need immediate help.

I've tried to install this --> RUU_Ace_HTC_WWE_1.15.405.1_Radio_12.21.60.12_26.02.00.09_M_test_148662. I thought it was some kind of downgrade, because i couldn't downgrade with Ace Hack Kit. In the midlle of installation, about 22%, when my HDH rebooted, said error, now my phone won't even boot antything, only when I put it to charge it shows orang led indicator, and after some time it shows black screen with silver HTC screen.. :/ Desperate, any kind of help, suggestion please..
Connect it through the ace hack kit, and start from scratch.
did it automatically download the downgrade ruu? Or is that one you downloaded yourself? Did you disconnect it thinking it had finished or something?

Thanks for answering..
When I've got my phone, it was stock 2.3.5, i've unlocked bootloaders, downloaded ace hack kit, rooted, instaled cwm, s-off, installed couple of custom roms. Then, i've locked my phone via fastboot oem lock. Today, I wanted to unlock it again, to instal sabsa prime, but when i reach fastboot oem get_identifier_token it points to some kind of bootloader err error command. When i started the ace kit it demanded the downgrade, but, when the downgrade is downloaded, pushed to phone, phone restart to hboot, but wont flush it. So, i wanted to downgrade on my own. I've downloaded as i said ruu, started flashing, and thats pretty much it.. It showed error, i havent disconnected it on my own.
I can only connect phone by pressing volume up and power, i have a blinking orange led indicator and it reports as qualcomm cdma technologies msm to my computer..
i thought that aahk can only be used for the stock rom.. if you already have s-off and have cwm, just flash the new rom in recovery..

You couldn't have run AAHK on an unlocked bootloader. Exactly what have you done to your phone up to this point in time? What does your bootloader say now?

i cant enter to hboot, i cant start phone, only when i push volume up + power i have orange led blinking, and when i attach phone to pc, pc recognize it as a qualcomm cdma technologies..
from stock rom, unlocked bootloader via htcdev, used ace AAHK, instaled few custom roms, then relocked bootloader via fastboot (fastboot oem lock), then flashed ruu RUU_Ace_Sense30_S_HTC_WWE_3.12.405.1_Radio_12.65.60.29_26.14.04.28_M_release_225512_signed. After that i wanted to unlock bootloader again, in fastboot got the (bootloader) [ERR] command error !!!, when runed AAHK, AAHK needed a downgrade, downgrade was downloaded, pushed to phone, but when phone restarted to hboot, downgrade coulndt be flashed, it shows PD98IMG-GB2 as a wrong image or something. Then I downloaded RUU_Ace_HTC_WWE_1.15.405.1_Radio_12.21.60.12_26.02.00.09_M_test_148662, started flash, my phone rebooted, and instead rebooting to ruu (black screen), phone just shuted down, ruu on pc showed error, that is it. I've tried to power on phone on different ways, but nothing, just once after i plugged it to pc, showd me black screen with silver letters, now won't even show that. Only with volume up + power, with orange led blinking, and somethimes, after some time attached to pc, phone connects, but how i figured out from computer managment, like a mass storage. Hope you understanded what i said.. :/
Thanks for answering bro..

If you want step by step assistence go to the irc channel of the aahk team and search help there. I had a lot of issues when trying to gain root so the devs there helped me to do it. It took 2 days to fix. Good luck

No, hboot fix is no longer supported in the hack kit channel, so you won't get any, answers there. Use ths guide and ask in here if you have doubts.
