[Q] Notification LED leak, cosmetic problem? - HTC One X

As posted in the thread below, I had the BSOD error on my device. Today I finally got my device back to find the notification light leaking through the top and part of the back of the device, the images below show the extent of the leak. It has been sent to the HTC Europe repair centre twice now and I'm not sure what to do, I think I might see if my network provider (3 UK) can replace my device as well as refund a month's contract. What would be the best way to go now?

Well, did you got any solution to this? I got my HTC One X from repair today, it was also at European repair centre and it has very same flaw as in your pictures.

I was in contact with someone after I got it back and they said that it hasn't affected any components or caused any hardware issues so it comes under a cosmetic issue... I got told that I can send it in for a repair if needed but I decided not to. I guess it's up to you really if you don't like the light leak?

They can issue a doa upto 14 days after you had bought the phone. I got a One x and the same day i noticed that the screen was loose. So i took it to the the HTC service center and showed the issue to them and they immediately issued a DOA. Returned the DOA and the faulty phone back to the shop from where i bought the phone and i got a new phone.
Just check the Edges of the screen for gap between the screen and the body. Even if the replacement is faulty you can still return it..

Been using the new phone for the past 3 days and the new phone does not have any issues.
Serial no is HT24 series.
I doubt whether you'll be able to exchange for another phone. I think it depends on your shop/dealer. Generally they replace with the same phone only.

Carphone Warehouse Repair Tips? (WiFi Issue, Unlocked Bootloader :(

Okay, so for some reason, yesterday my phone randomly decided to present itself with low WiFi signal. I then did a squeeze test, and to my disappointment, it boosted the WiFi bar from one to full which means its the famous hardware issue. Unfortunately, I just recently unlocked my bootloader and flashed a new ROM, which means I will probably experience issues with the warranty process
I will give the phone to CPW with latest RUU and re-locked bootloader and HOPE they don't notice the bootloader's history, or when they do, they acknowledge that software has nothing to do with this fault. I understand if they don't want to fix the phone, but I have heard horror stories of people being charged! My question is, do they fix your phone first, then charge you (and hold your phone hostage) or do they contact me first asking me if I want to go through with a fee? Because if they will hold my phone hostage, I would rather not send it to them and instead send it to my insurance people.
Many thanks in advance, any help is greatly appreciated :/
**Update**
Gave the phone in to CPW - 10 days later, they said they repaired it. All they did was a factory reset .. and delete all my data. I still have the same WiFi problem!
Usualy, they will just fix the phone if you take it to a cpw store that has a repair center instore, then it wont go anywhere near htc, and hopefully they will fix it within a few days, but if it is sent away, they will never 'hold your phone hostage', if you send it off and their ends up being a chargeable repair, they will consult with you first, and if you decline they will send the phone back to the store

hey I've developed the same problem as well- and reading your post gave me some hope. I've got a few questions if you don't mind:
- At which circumstances will the "tech hub" send the phone back to HTC?
- If it is a chargeable repair and you decline... what happens to the phone? You said it gets sent back to the store and what do they do with it?
Thank you very much
(sorry if it seems as if I've hijacked, but I didn't want to create another thread for the same problem)

they send it back to HTC very rarely now actually, if they need the parts they will just order them in, and software problems are usually an easy thing to fix at the repair centers
if its a chargeable repair and you do decline, then the phone will get sent back to store ready for you to collect, they do not charge for this as all transit is done within the company, so there's not delivery charge, and they don't charge for labor, so it wont cost you anything
hope it helps
I've read a post with somebody having the same issue and it was sent to HTC who repaired it for free, in fact I've read a few success stories, if your in the UK you will be fine we have strict rules and if it is not related to software they have to honour the warranty
Sent from my HTC One CMX
Thanks
Thanks for the quick replies! And thanks for reassuring me. I have just sent an email to cpw so I can have written evidence from their address confirming what you have said, and after that, I shall flash RUU, relock bootloader and send it to them *fingers crossed*

Just to highlight that carphonewarehouse do not fix HTC, IPHONES, BLACKBERRYS on site at any repair center within the company if its a hardware fault.
They do how ever flash the lastest software on htcs, blackberrys but not iPhones on site. (Software related)
If its a hardware fault the handset goes straight back to manufacture through our internal postage system.
They shouldnt notice the handset being tampered with aslong as your have reverted back to original software and relocked the bootloader.
I have had two of my one xs sent back with screen flickering and headset jack fault. Both where rooted and custome software. (Exchanged each time Through the geeksquad insurance express exchange feature )
I'm pretty sure that HTC do not reconise the WiFi issue that people have been having ad a replacment issue.
I wouldn't be suprised if they sent it back with nothing been done.
It is only certain batches that experience that issue, I have had three since launch and never had an issue with WiFi.

[Q] Will my phone be replaced?

I bought a One X about a month ago. Brand new and unbranded. I started having issues with it. First was Audio Stutter, i contacted HTC support and they told me to clear cache through the recovery. This didn't work. The only way to fix this was to restart the phone with the headphones plugged in. Secondly the Vibrator started making a clicking noise every time i typed with the keyboard or used the capacitive keys. And now while charging my phone i started to notice yellow spots appear at the bottom of the screen (Which is a known issue with these devices) but disappeared after a while when i removed it from charging. This might be because the phone gets VERY HOT when its charging. I replaced the charger but i still had these issues. I contacted HTC and booked my phone in for repair. I'm just wondering whether they will give me a new phone or attempt to repair it.
Hi,
if it's within 30 days of purchase the seller should offer a replacement. If not they will more than likely say they'll repair it - like you said.
I've had no end of problems with mine recently, but HTC kept repairing it - which is fine by me. The one x I am using now is a replacement as the previous one kept breaking.
So I guess it comes down to HTC, it'll be there decision. But they'll normally try to repair it at least once before replacing.
Cheers

I have a feeling they might replace it. To fix the audio stutter they might have to replace the Main board and to fix the screen they will have to replace everything. Won't it not be cheaper and less time consuming to send me a new one instead. The thing i hate most is getting a phone back after it has been repaired and it does not feel the same anymore..doesn't feel new.

It just depends on HTC. I had mine repaired twice and now on my second replacement device (which is perfect - touch wood). I first suffered with Wifi - then it got repaired, but came back with a loose camera, yellow spots on the screen, broken vibration and overheating. So they offered to replace the device because it was brought back within 30days (more like they made the problems worse). So they gave me a new one - but that was faulty as it had a yellow tint to the screen, so they replaced it again because i brought it back within a week.
I know what you mean by it not feeling the same after it has been repaired - but to be honest i really couldn't tell a difference, normally i can.
They will more than likely offer to repair it, as its a lot cheaper than HTC giving you a brand new phone. At least you can get a repair and its not voided for a particular reason.
Cheers.
I just got off the phone to HTC regarding my Phones repair status and what they did to fix it. I initially sent my phone in for repair Because of Audio Crackling, Vibration motor fault when using softkeys or keyboard and Yellow spots on the screen when i charge the phone. NOW they are telling me they perfomed tests on the phone and found a WiFi problem(Which i never had a problem with) and they have fixed it and have shipped the phone to me. What Pisses me off is the fact that I'm getting my phone back with the exact same problems. I asked them why was the problem description not followed and they said they had a bug in their system so they did not know what the problem was when i clearly sent a copy of the paperwork that was emailed to me when i booked the phone for repair. It clearly states on the 'Problem Described:' section on the paperwork that i the above three problems. Has this ever happened to anyone?
I brought mine from Carphone Warehouse so my phones are always sent to there repair center. But I must say I've heard many complaints about HTCs repair service.
Cheersm

[Q] BSOD after repair by HTC Europe!! Should i resend for repair?

My device had gotten the BSOD of death the week before 22nd May, so I sent it off for a repair to which it came back 'fine' on the 4th june. Having used it for a day or 2 I assumed the problem was fixed.. Mainly due to actually being able to see the screen/bootloader/booting screen! On the third day of having it I started to get graphical glitches on the screen, as show in the link below these were the kind of glitches I had on my device before it went blank. I did drain it to and then fully charge to see if that fixed it, it did I thought until saturday morning when it went back to the same BSOD problem as shown in the youtube link below.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2083676&highlight=screen+glitch
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VFvABvJXDc8
This video shows the problem except the screen doesn't turn on at all, but it does show the artificats/glitches that I did get before the blackout..
TL;dr - Sent phone off for repair 22nd may, returned 4th june, thought was fixed, screen problems again 6th-8th before BSOD again...
My phone is contracted through 3 would it be best to see if they can repair it as obviously the HTC repair wasn't done correctly... or should I try get a replacement from HTC as I don't want to keep sending it off every other week to get fixed! Any advice would be appreciated
If it's under warranty, it's always advisable to send it to HTC for repairs ! If you can get a replacement, it would be awesome!

Yeah it is under warranty, I did get it repaired and returned earlier in the week.. but the problem has returned, which i think that either the display wasn't repaired or it is a motherboard problem..

More than likely now they've sent it back and the problem persists they'll choose one of two options, replace the motherboard or simply give you a new device.
Either way it will be the same as a completely new device so I'd send it back to HTC first.

Having looked at my fastboot screen from the repair it is back to locked instead of relocked, which makes me think they did replace the motherboard as I got a new IMEI but the screen stayed the same.. I've sent a ticket to them and posted on their Facebook just waiting for a reply...
Edit: Phone is now getting picked up tomorrow between 12 and 5 and fault correctly described this time so hopefully will be good as new soon
I know double posts aren't in line with the rules but I thought that has its been over 2 weeks since I posted it.....
So yeah it is still at the repair centre, apparently waiting for a part for a replacement... I think end of july i might get it back Anyone else experienced anything like this?

HTC Warranty Process

So I have an HTC One from Verizon that is having issues with the camera; it won't focus on anything more than a foot or so away.
I've tried alternate camera apps, and it doesn't fix the focusing issue.
So, I'd like to send this phone back under warranty. How is HTC's repair process? When they can't repair a phone (which they should be able to do), they will replace it with a refurbished phone.
So, I can either send the phone in to HTC, in which case they will probably repair it and send it back. If they are not able to fix it, which is unlikely, they will give me a refurbished version. I consider this option risky, because I either get my phone taken apart and
The other option is to get a new phone from Costco. I can't get another HTC One, because for some reason they'll only send me a refurbished one. If I'm going to be going for refurbs, I may as well just try HTC's warranty process. However, I am able to get a new LG G2 or GS4. I don't want either of these phones because I don't like the plasticy feel, but it's much lower risk. I don't want to be stuck with a messed up phone and I can't keep sending it in to HTC. My return period from Costco is about to end too, so I can't send it to HTC and then change my mind and get Costco to replace it after I've already gotten it back from HTC.
So the basic question is, can I trust HTC to properly fix the phone? I really don't want to have to get a different phone, but I don't want to keep having issues. Anyone have experience with their warranty process?
Return it.
If you read the camera thread, it becomes clear that people are returning their device multiple times and a number of them are getting a LITEON brand sensor that has a green tint.

The process is really easy. I just got mine back on Wednesday. You won't get a refurb...you'll get your phone back. And, if you have any gaps or anything like that in the build of the phone, they'll be gone too. You won't have to return it multiple times if you go through HTC (using a Verizon exchange you might since they'll give you a refurb...maybe that's what this guy is talking about?) If you're s-off and unlocked, just relock and remain s-off.

Late to the party...
I'm having the same issue and I went onto HTC's site to start a live chat session to get some info on repair/replacement process, but the chat window doesn't work in Chrome, Firefox, or IE. I then tried to use the email support form and that failed in all browsers too. Can anyone help supply info as I would prefer not calling in?
