Anyone else waiting for a viable alternative than the current screen protector available?
Flex HD and Zagg look good, but they have many drawbacks, and the adhesive protectors do not offer any full screen protection. I am aware that it is due to the curved nature of the gorilla glass but surely someone would be able to make an adhesive protector which simply curves around the edges? (the edges would be uniform on all S3's so I do not see a problem there)
Does anyone have news of any upcoming screen protectors?
I assume there is nothing to come then

wet apply screen protectors that cover the screen are going to be a soft material and hence more grippy and rubbery.
dry apply ones which are hard will only be able to cover the whole screen if they where made curved out of the factory to custom fit the S3. the cost for tooling and manufacture and for packaging will prob put off manufacturers making them. plus if they aren't the right curve or angle then it won't fit properly. so theoretically it is possible, but due to the complexity i doubt they will be produced.
forgive me if i am wrong but i think current screen protectors all come off one line when being made, then just cut to the specific shape for each phone. but if you were to make a custom curved one, then a whole production line would just be making those ones making it much more expensive.
I bought one from ebay...
XtremeGuard Screen Protector/Shield - Galaxy s3
I am not happy with the quality. I have ordered from them in the past and have had no issues. Now the material seems a lot thinner and my tpu case keeps pushing up the sides...So stay away if you are using a TPU case
I kind of asked similar question, but for now, there is none except for wet screen protector. If you are looking for a dry screen protector, SGP Ultra Nano Clear might be the best one. I saw this review, and it looks almost invisible because it's thin. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1741650
Had a Chat with Spigen, turns out they are in fact developing a new screen protector but as they are in talks with their manufacturer they cant give any solid details. Here is the Message they sent me:
"Dear XXXXX,
Thank you for contacting Spigen.com Customer Service Department.
Hi, my name is Diana from Spigen.com.
Thank you for your interest in our products! We are currently developing a new screen protector for the Galaxy S3, unfortunately, because nothing has been confirmed with the manufacturers at the moment, there is not much information we can provide as to what kind of screen protector it may be. However, please continue to check our website, facebook, and twitter pages for updates on all of our products from time to time.
If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact us again.
Thank you.

Looks like we got our answer! http://www.spigen.com/cell-phone/sa...creen-protector-steinheil-curved-crystal.html
Old thread lol but ill bump it up. I have the Xtremeguard from ebay ($2 shipped) and its pretty good, lot better that the zagg ive had in the past, and alot cheaper lol. Almost no orange peel look (very minimal). It is indeed kinda grippy at first but after usage it smooth outs enough. Feels good now, still slight grippy effect but smooth while texting or whatnot
How about one that offers more than scratch protection. How about one that can keep the screen from shattering when dropped on gravel from five feet face down!
Hello,

It depends on how careful you are with your phone, but I would definitely recommend a case and screen protector to avoid getting scratches, if nothing else.

That depends on how much protection you want and if you mind covering up the back of the phone (it's nicer than most phones so some people rather not).

That's the one I have, and I like it a lot. Protects the sides and the back, without covering the aluminum body.

I never have much issue with screen scratches (usually) but I'd still err on the side of caution and do at the very least a screen protector. I'm going to replace my ZAGG (which I'm hoping is just scratched and not a crack on the screen ) with one of those fancy shmancy glass screen protectors with the rounded edges.

Ha ha, I have one of those fancy shmancy glass screen protectors. It feels nice and looks nice, but there are bubbles in the corners
TPU skin is good enough if you have good reflexes.
While it is falling, you'll probably break its fall by hitting it up. Plus you can find absolutely clear TPU skins.
A case is a must, screen protector is not.
What I do is whenever I get a brand new phone, I always start with a good protective case and a screen protector. After a few months, I gradually get thinner cases and usually end up with those 0.3-0.5mm thin cases that makes the phone feel nice and less bulky. If you plan to rock the phone naked, I'd recommend a phone pouch.

Thank you very much for the quick response I'm still searching for a good frame or case, is it true that the origin HTC bi color case leaves scratches on the phone I won't believe it .....?! I also hope that the black version is scratch resistant some people said not......I just talked with a Vodafone assistant to change the black against the silver but he said to me that himself have the black one and I looks quite better and after two month usage without any case he have no scratches. I'll take the black one, it comes next week and I will give you a first impression.

Its not REALLY a must IMO. The phone actually holds up very well. Yesterday i purposefully put the phone in the same pocket with a bunch of coins and it scratched the aluminum but the scratches wiped right off. If you drop things than that would be a different story at aluminum can easily dent :good:
That was my point also ... it looks a little exaggerated to say that a case is a must.
I intend to use the phone "naked" indoors. Any case will practically ruin the nice feeling of the phone itself. Of course, if you drop it then there are chances to ruin the nice finish.
I'm also using the phone outdoors, fr sports. For that purpose I ordered a trident kraken ams ... I hope it will do the job.
P.S.: I saw that a OEM housing is "only" 50 bucks, free shipping ... I guess I'll buy one just in case .
I would say that if you carry your phone in your pocket a case is a must. I generally like to go case-less (especially with a phone this pretty), but after having my One slip out of my pocket on a couple of occasions, I ended up getting a case (Poetic Atmosphere; the rubberized edges keep it from slipping out). If you intend on getting a pouch of some sort, I think case-free is fine.
Also, I don't have a screen protector and have no scratches, though I tend to be pretty gentle with my phones.

On Etradesupply, the OEM housing is only like 30 bucks.
I say a TPU case is a must because:
1) You WILL drop it at some point, it's anodized AL, not grippy plastic.
2) The case provides a lip, so if you put your phone face down, the screen won't touch the surface & scratch from w/e dirt is there.
3) The case will also keep the camera lens (or the anodized back) from touching any surfaces.
4) I wear a ring, and if I don't put a case on, the ring scratches ONTO the phone. That's not good.
If you're REALLY careful, then none of these matter. but it's hard to be perfect.
Besides, when I'm in bed, I can just quickly remove the case for a little bit. It feels nice.
This phone is just too good looking to cover up, IMO. I've been going naked since day one I don't have a single scratch on it. The aluminum housing is solid and whatever glass HTC used really resists scratching. My One X screen got covered in microscratches pretty quickly, but I haven't seen anything on this phone.
Just treat it with care and you can forget the case. CNET tried to destroy their test phone and couldn't do it.
I have a double dip case bought at once with the phone. Well .. the feeling simply does not compare with the case on. It just loos cheap and plastic'ish ... is worse than galaxy S4 actually. So, with all the risks involved I will go "naked" while in normal use and I will use the kraken ams for outdoors. That's all ...
I only like corner protection. I don't care about the back.
I used to have a screen protector on this but I don't like it, it doesn't make the display look as nice. I have since taken it off and have not gotten any scratches, not even micro ones. I think this display is more tough than previous GG2 screens. I had the ONE X+ and it scratched easily.

I respectfully disagree, as will most in this forum that Android is horrible.
Maybe you can post what apps you are looking for and other users can tell you if there are equivalent apps.

Hello Senior Member,
Thanks so much for your quick response, ok I'm impatient, I found the first app for my marantz av and the buffalo server which works its the bubbleUPnP and it works with the iPhone equivalent not still searching the for the 8player.
Good morning,
Long time member here and always been a big fan of ZAGG and GadgetShield Skins. After years of using them I wanted something a bit more. The screens were great but using the same material for the body meant that it easily peeled at the corners and gathered dust, once this happened the edges and corners started to lose some the ability to adhere and further peeled.
To remedy this we started ScreenProof - screen and body protectors. The screens use a similar military grade protection film which has a very smooth slick finish, self healing and scratch resistent. This is 0.2mm in thickness. For the body we wanted something better suited. We found a material which is half the thickness at 0.1mm and after months of use have had no dust creep in on corners or any sign of peeling.
I have attached some photos of my 920 with the full wrap around fit.
The reason for this thread is to get feedback, we want to make the best product we can. We want you all to have input for improvements, criticism, questions on fitting and custom design requests. For instance, I don't see a need for a cut out for the front facing camera. Others will argue that it will impact their camer image quality. We want to give you that option to choose the design how you want it. Not enough companies have involvement with their customers and it a big part of we will be doing.
so if anyone has any questions, please ask. If you want to request a device, please do. And if you want to buy one, you can find us on eBay under ScreenProof-UK. Soon, we will have a website to make your orders.
So this is just for a scratch protection? For someone who has a good insurance for their phone or just want to show off its sexy curves (Nokia or HTC One) - people go without cases. When it comes to anybody with Samsung Galaxy phone (or even iPhone) - I guarantee they will have a decent case protecting their phone from drops. So, screen cover is welcome, but full body cover - not so sure especially if you will be taking case on'and'off.

Hey, thanks for the comments.
you're right, it is for scratch protection more than anything. A lot of people are very anal about the condition of their $600 smart phone and want to keep it looking like new ( and rightly so ) This full body cover won't protect against falls and damage but will stop it getting scratched, marked, scuffed from daily use.
Not everyone wants to keep their phone in a case, I know for me, phones are already big enough, there's nothing worse than having something engineered to meet the pinacle of design and then hiding it in a case. My opinion at least
Customer response so far has been amazing so I know it's not just me that likes to keep my phone naked !
Thanks

Hi as you are looking for a liquid used as scratch remover...why don't you try this Displex scratch remover gel....One of my friend used this for his Blackberry Q10 and the result was surprising one as all the scratches and smudges present on the screen were vanished so as per my review its a nice product to go for...some similar of it also present on this vendor site...so you can just check which one suits you good...

I'd suggest to go with this: iLLumiShield - Sony Xperia Z1 Crystal Clear Screen > http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00F8NCKXY/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_mKoysb1Y0N1TJ
As for you my needs were only two:
- anti fingers print
- super iper clear
As a plus it is super nice to touch.
ATM this is the clearest film ever tried so far and damn good in dealing with finger prints.
I'll give 9.5/10. 0.5 because I wish they had made it without the holes for the camera and sensor.

Bought that one and trashed 2 days later, on white backgrounds you can see how much change the color, it is not true clear.
I always buy Invisible screen protector from same guy on ebay.
I have XS, XU and Nexus7 all protected with his SP and I must say it's amazing.
I contacted him the other day and he said - it'll be available soon.
It applys with soup water (just a drop of it) and you can't miss and appy it wrong (because you can move it on the screen for a few sec).
It's absolutely invisible and extremely strong.
I have it on my XS for a 13 months and I don't have not a little scratch.
It's not cheap - 10-20$ (depending on screen size) but I'll buy it for my Z1 as well.
It'll be available for front and back glass
...and yeah...they cut their SP perfectly.
Only holes for camera and speaker - no extra stupit holes or whole corner cut - I just love that.
As I said - it's impossible to see it when you apply it

You do know that there is a sticky film left on the screen from the screen protector that will increase fingerprints and smudges. It was have a some what taky feel to it. You need to get the residue off by using something like nail polish remover. After you are sure you have removed all the residue, you will STILL get some fingerprints but not as bad.
I found this forum while searching for a new case for my htc one.
I currently have the Otterbox Defender from Verizon when I got my phone 2 weeks ago. While I love the protection it offers. I hate the fact that every 2 days I have to open it up and clean debris off the screen. I have an additional screen protector inside so the glass wont get scratched by the debris
I work outside in a sand environment 8-10 hours a day. I also deal with farm machinery so thats the reason I initially went Otterbox
Basically I need a quality case that will.
1. keep as much dust out as possible
2. offer high impact/falling resistance
3. some form of water resistance would be awesome as well if applicable.
Ive looked at Trident, Ballistic, Body Glove so far.
I would appreciate any help in finding a new case. I really don't want to pop the built in protector out unless I have too. I will if its the best option.
does it work good??
Dust-proof.
