Went on vacation last month for a week. Phone was roaming and working fine. Didn't knowingly use data except on resorts wifi.
When we came back, I had issues with the web and data right away. Seeing the 4G symbol with no color and no bars or being on edge. Never saw the LTE symbol at all, which was working well when I left. All this with obvious loading issues like hanging pageloads and "no web" notices.
Tmo tried three times to reset my account. First guy said my "numbers were weird".
Continuing to have problems, phone is pretty much un-useable at this point.
Tmo, as usual, rocks. Went to store on Sat. said I'd had enough and the replacement should arrive today!
Just curious if anyone else has had any problems after traveling with their S4?
Update- Got an unboxed replacement. Looks new.
But the data issues continue on this one. I'll have to call Tmo again and try another reset.....bummer.
Thanks Kenny. It wasn't strictly a question. More of a heads up.I wasn't expecting an answer that would help as much as curious if anyone had experienced this. Thought of putting it Q&A section but didn't because of this.
Sorry.

Hey guys,
So this might be a n00b question to ask but i haven't seen any other posts on it for the Evo 4g.
I can make calls, but not receive them. I can send texts and people get them right away, but i don't receive them right away, I receive all my texts at once an hour or two later, sometimes a day later. I checked my system time and it was supposed to be 9:30 am but it said 4:45 pm, then it went back to 9:30 am about 5 min later.
It seems like a radio problem because my network works fine with facebook and heytel.
I was wondering if anyone has had experience with this, is it a network issue i need to contact sprint or is it a problem within the phone itself.
Is your evo rooted?
I had a similar problem but it was when i had a blackberry but it wasnt all the time. Sometimes i got texts almost a day later.
*Usually*, it is a network issue. You can try updating your profile in the settings menu. Also, it is not uncommon to experience such things while roaming.

Ya it's rooted with Unrevoked running Riptide w Calkulin 1.8.0
Haven't had any problems with it until yesterday, been running it ever since it came out.
I'm definitely not roaming.
Updated my profile and PRL
Gonna re-update, pull the battery for a few, and call sprint customer care. I read somewhere people have this issue when their phone is in forward mode, random for it to all of a sudden just happen unless the phone got dropped or shorted out somehow.
I had a friend have the same problem yesterday but he just went through insurance and got a new phone.
So you're right it could be a network issue and spending $ on a new phone to gamble on having the same issue doesn't sound like something anyone would want to throw money at.

Give it a day or two, you definitely don't want to pay for something you don't need.
Also, back up your current setup, calikulin format all, and try flashing something else to see if the problem is ROM based.
Thanks Green. Good words brothuh, i gotta older version of Fresh i'm gonna try that out.
I haven't seen any new worthy ROMs with the gingerbread so staying clear from that for awhile.
Unless you have one you would recommend trying out.

Flash a different kernel. It shouldn't have an affect on your issue, but, I've learned that anything us possible with smartphones.

Thanks Doug, not sure how to flash just the kernel but i'll look it up and post the results later today. Thanks for the tips!!
I tried reflashing the entire ROM and no dice. Think it's definitely a network issue. Going to sprint today, keep you guys posted.
I had the same problem and was on EVIO 1.8. I reflashed my PRI and that seem to have solved my problem. I tried many things but after flashing the PRI the phone has had no problems and that was about a month ago.
Here is my post to someone who had a similar problem as you.

Is there an issue with text messeges taking like YEARs for them to be delivered to a non-sprint device? I have a buddy who has this phone. We were at the bucs game and he was trying to text me a few times. I did not get them until we met back up. I thought it was due to the high congestion of the local tower but it continued through out the day. Anyone else experience this? I was ready to go out and buy this phone until I found out about this. BTW I have VZW.

Just today at work me and a buddy who run different departments were shooting pics back and forth, they appeared on his phone nearly instantly after they officially left mine...I have an ET4G he has a E4GS.
Sometimes that happens. Depending on if you ever got away from that one tower there could have been a message queue a mile long that needed to be processed first..Hell, it could have been your Verizon service. I know that sometimes that same thing happens to me with people on Verizon though that never happens to me with anyone else.
I think just consider it 'random' and feel better about it as there are so many variables that may or may not be involved that it isn't worth worrying about. In my experience in my area with my friends this is not typical at all. That may be completely opposite to you, but, I doubt it. Test more if you want to be sure. I feel confidant that you'll both come up with nearly random in-explainable results...and if the results are so repeated that it's obvious what the problem is I doubt it's that ET4G's send messages slowly.
...though I have been wrong before...
It did happen a few times when I had the Photon also. Maybe its just sprint.... When I had the photon it was between myself and my wifes iPhone on ATT.
I am having issues sending picture mail in the first place due to the data issues on this phone

As many, many other users of the galaxy nexus have reported, I am having some miserable signal problems. Obviously, CDMA nexus here.
I wish the issue was only that the signal on my phone is bad, but unfortunately it extends beyond that: my entire signal is lost at times. Usually it's intermittent and will happen 4 or 5 times a day for only 30 seconds at most at a time, but sometime (Usually late at night), it will lose its signal for even an hour or two, and I'll watch the battery plummet from as high as 54% to 0 as it searches for a signal the whole time.
I realize this is nothing new for some, but I almost feel like the problem went away for the whole world except for me, due to the low volume of threads related to the issue at all on the boards here. At least, recent ones.
What are my options? I don't really like the idea of trading in my nexus for a refurbished phone. Is 4.03 supposed to solve this problem? I had also read that rooting and flashing radios doesn't make much of a difference. To those of you with the CDMA nexus, what have you done to alleviate this problem? Or are you waiting patiently for an update?
Thank you in advance.
If bought new then return as faulty. Easiest solution.

The problem didn't go away. Most people had to make the decision to either live with it or trade it in on a RAZR or Rezound.

You could:
1. Trade it in for another GNex, on the "hopes" that yours is defective.
2. Trade it in for something else.
3. Live with it & wait it out on the hopes that someday Verizon will ship updated radios that will help. Current rumors say that could still be a couple of months away...
I am on the option 3 plan.
The leaked 4.0.3 radios have had limited & mixed results. For those who they do help, they don't seem to do a whole lot. There are a couple of people who had really good luck. Pretty much the same story for those of us who got Hardware version 10 phones - Haven't noticed any appreciable difference between it and the 9 I got on opening day.
Good luck!
strongergravity, thank you, that was extremely helpful; I was curious to how my fellow Nexus bretheren were dealing with the issue.
If a potential update can fix the radio, then I too will stick with number 3 as you have. Call me a masochist, but this thing is just too nice to part with.
Thank you very much for the detailed response.

I just saw your thread right after I created the exact same one today! I was just wondering what you ended up doing. No one has answered definitively as to whether or not this is happening on all phones. If an exchange will fix it, I would gladly go tomorrow. I know most phones are having trouble with the 3g/4g handoff but that is not the same issue we are having. What do you think!?
Mike
Same problems I've experienced. I'm on my second gnex, same issues.
Also I pulled speed tests next to other Verizon 4g phones (razor, rezound,TB) they all had significantly higher speeds than mine . I did multiple tests around our site, they had at least twice the speed as mine.
The razr pulled three times my speed most the time. 30+mb/s vs 10
The thunderbolt was around twice as fast downloads but uploads were even.
And the rezound was double on both uploads and downloads
I used the speed test app and speakeasy online.

Another comparison I did was turning on airplane mode on and off on all phones simultaneously. And switching 3g only on/off. To see which phones would latch on to 4g first.
Again the gnex was the slowest.
I really wish we received an update to fix this I love this phone!

I posted this earlier on another thread hoping it will get more views here.
So, I'm having the same exact problems but i did a log cat to see what might be culprit.
I have narrowed it down to this:
02-08 11:21:51.912 E/IMSFW (415): IIL: Disconnected from '7467' socket
still have no idea what can cause it yet.
also if you switch to 3g it seems it doesn't happen so maybe its a sim problem on verizons lte network end?
11:22:40.029 E/IMSFW (415): ImsSMSInterface: Registration failed, go for retrying if isim nounce present
that's what i found so if anyone can clarify and maybe see if it is really on Verizons end as this is the 4th phone that has had this problem
I will be going to verizon tomorrow to "try" and get a new 4g sim card and see if that helps somewhat.

I just went to the store and swapped out my 4g sim card... I dropped two calls on the way home from the store so I'm not sure it helped at all. Hopefully it didn't make it worse though!
I also checked my speeds and service against some other phones in the store and the Droid Razr destroyed my nexus and some other stock nexus that were there usually 12mpbs vs my 8 and 1mbps upload vs their 3.
Well I got my issues fixed today I was on tech support for an hour and he suggested to go to a store and get the sim card replaced. And that solved all my issues
Another problem I had was when using the headset for calling the person on the other line would here themselves. This has also gone away, I am so relieved I love this phone and did not want to abandone it.
Well, I did a bit of a test.
I kept my phone on 3g the whole day: Signal did not drop even for a single MOMENT in the entire day. Sure, there are times where it was bad, but my connection never entirely dropped. This leads me to believe that the problem lies with transitioning between 3g and 4g, or perhaps is just entirely related to 4g.
With the LTE network, I will have anywhere between 3% - 50% time with "no signal." It's extremely annoying and I'll always watch as my battery tanks extremely fast.
Maybe it's worth replacing the SIM card or at least, pulling it and putting it back in. Posting this here for others that are troubleshooting this same problem. I'll report back.
Anyone else experience random mobile data time outs? Not sure what causes them to occur, but it is annoying. Nothing brings the data back, except waiting.
Am I the only person experiencing something like this? I bought this phone 3 days ago through T-Mobile. It was shipped with Oreo preinstalled. Let me know if anyone has experienced this.
I would call Motorola/Lenovo/T-Mobile about the issue. You shouldn't be dropping mobile data like that.

That's where I was headed. Just wanted to know how much of an issue this is for others.
Going to start with TMo. They got my money first, and still within 14 days.

They made me do a network reset, and ASSURED me that it will not happen again. Of course, I know better, and I know that this doesn't do crap. Lol.
I'm returning my device for a full refund (I purchased my device through customer care, so no restocking fee). I'm not going to bother with the troubleshooting.
I have also noticed that the problem goes beyond mobile data. It times out of wifi as well. Might be an isolated problem, but I'm not willing to deal with that.

Sad to see a community member returning the phone. Thanks for letting me know though! I haven't had it happen to me since so like you said it could be just an isolated problem. All the best!
Cheers,
Yeah, I was beginning to like it. If the phone was a few months old, and took a few drops, I would have tried harder to troubleshoot or get it replaced by Tmobile. However, the phone is 5 days old. I'm not letting the 14 day grace period escape me.
Double post.

Mine was a Sim card issue that provided the same predictable behavior on multiple devices. Try getting a new one.
Did all that and replaced phone also data reset t mobile said they tryied everything possible. All stared after Oreo update.
So how many of us are having these issues? https://www.androidpolice.com/2018/...lems-with-call-quality-and-connection-issues/

I haven't noticed any issues on my phone yet. Also the article says it's pretty widespread, but I haven't really seen any complaints on this forum, and folks here can get pretty nit-picky. So, I don't want to say it isn't a problem for some folks, but I very much question it being widespread as the article suggests.
I've been having the issue since taking up a new contract. I figured it was the new sim. But, yes I've definitely been getting it.
Also, been missing heaps of calls. Just getting voicemails come through
Edit: Turns out im missing heaps of messages too. Just put my sim into my old phone and getting abused for not responding.
We thought it was our carrier, but it does appear to be the phone's fault. I'm glad its getting some attention and will RMA just to be safe. My phone works just fine, but my wife's is TRASH.
I have not experienced any of these issues with my Pixel 3 XL. I have been on AT&T since they were Cellular One.
Im on verizon prepaid and i dont have call quality issues, well kimda usually they disconnect as soon as i answer. Thats my only call issue
