Hi everyone !! I just bought my midnight blue arc yesterday morning and am loving it!
All those people who have problems with the battery please get your phones checked coz i feel the battery life on this phone is pretty pretty decent.
Anyway I'm facng a problem that the phone rebooted thrice yesterday while I was on a call!! Is anyone else facing this problem ? Any remedies ??
Thanks
not a problem here for me.. I have heard that this problem seems to be affecting phones in Japan.... also heard that a full SD card reformat seems to have helped some people..
Oh nooo! Call wonk is back on Arc now?
You can try dewonkificator from the N1 section
I have experienced the same thing several times. Has also experienced the phone stalls for 3-5 seconds, and app links on the bottom row do not respond.
Sad as it actually is the best designed phone in my opinion.
Does the phone get hot? i noticed that the phone (close to the camera) gets hot playing games.
Received mine this morning, it's frozen and restarted once, and took ages to restart after freezing.
Ive noticed it getting very hot towards the top half of the screen while i was playing dungeon defenders.
It's a shame, because i really like this handset.

mine working like it should be without any reboots and other stuffs
about battery, 10% and charge for at least 1 week til full , then back to normal charging (someone advice)
Yes same for me... multiple reboots per day. Brand new.. Cool phone but unstable
I have used Arc 3 days now... One reboot on 1st day... Otherwise no reboots
I also have this problem for the 4th time since wednesday last week.
And it is completely random. Phone never gets hot when this happen. One time it happend when it was idle.
I have contacted SE about this issue and they do not know about this problem.
So i am gonna exchange mine for a new one tomorrow.
Oh yeah, and i also cannot pair with my nokia 3100 carkit. I think this is software related problem. My desire had this problem also with some gingerbread roms, other gingerbread roms were fine. So i hope SE will update to 2.3.3 soon.
Mine rebooted only once on 3 days while in idle.
Not a big deal, I think it's because of 2.3.2
Wait for an official upgrade to 2.3.3 or custom roms
So far it never rebooted in idle, but what I recognized is that the phone rebooted several times when connected to the PC or when syncing Music with MediaGo...
Don't know why it occurs, but it happens regularly when I'm connected to the PC and is quite annoying tbh, especially when trying to transfer something like an ISO...
Actually, when trying to transfer Gran Turismo 2 it ALWAYS reboots
Sorry, double post. Pls delete.
Same here. I have several reboots every day.

May be we are using som apps which currently are not Gingerbread friendly??
thats true ... playing a game like flying attack or somthing like this HD ... it will get hot close to the camera ..
I ve had a reboot while riding to work with music playing.
I wouldnt of minded so much if the start up time wasnt as bad as an Iphone.
mine rebooted like 5 times today, usually just after ive used it and put it down on my desk, it suddenly reboots, anyone found out why? could not find any information anywhere other than the 2.3.2 issue
i'm using my Arc for 7 days and it never rebooted by itself. Are you guys playing while in the charger? i noticed it gets hot when it's in the charger.
in the weekend arc was idle for 64hours than i did a reboot because the music player couldn't play any music. now is the phone on for 67 hours no auto reboot. played games, listen to music, browsed the web.
3 days in now and haven't had a single reboot ad yet

I have had this phone going on a month now I would say this problem started about a week ago. The phone (not on the charger) just gets hot and the battery life dips tremendously. (The phone is stock unrooted) I used to be able to get at least 14 hours out of the phone with normal use and 3g on, now i get about 7 hours before i have to plug it up again. The phone can be in my pocket idle and I can feel it heating up, I have never had a device do this I am at a loss right now because the main reason I sold my evo was because of the rave reviews of the phones battery life and all of a sudden that is just gone. I tried searching the forum before posting and found nothing with regards to this problem, If there is another thread like this I do apologize it was simply overlooked.
Any suggestions??? Thanks in Advance.
Could just be a Los, try sending a text or making a phone call the next time it happens...
Usually when I have a ghost Los, my phone will heat up and the battery drops. If you can't send a text, go to your task manager and go to the RAM tab and clear memory. That usually helps, but if it doesn't work, just reboot.

Usually when you have this problem, for me it's always been a program pegging the CPU usage. download system panel to see what's up

Thanks I will give both a try.... The los happens but its rare. I'm thinking of resetting the phone or returning it.

I've had it happen to me once, I woke up one morning and it was hot and battery drained. I noticed it had the LOS circle up top so I attributed it to that..........It's only happen once thus far.
It's not LOS I have service I can call and send texts but the phone just gets hot as he'll and battery life gets destroyed. The thing is this started about a week ago and I have not installed anything new on the phone it just started doing this on it's own.
I would not say my phone gets "hot" but noticeably warmer especially when playing some games. To help with the battery drain I have underclocked and undervolted -25.
The Facebook app didn't seem to like my phone very much. After downloading it and going to bed I woke up with a hot phone. Uninstalled soon after and works fine now =]

I started to have this problem after flashing "Rogue" kernel with CWM
It was Fancy Widget (HTC style clock) I don't know why the conflict started in the past week because I've had fancy Widget since the day I got the phone. Thanks for the help guys really appreciated.

Greetings All!
This happened to me once. While phone was in pocket battery life nosedived and temperature skyrocketed. Wasn't LoS. Looked at running apps/services and saw that AP Mobile was running out of control. Which surprised me since I wasn't using the widget. So I froze it and the problem has not reoccurred. It was probably just a fluke but since I wasn't using it anyway it seemed like a no-brainer to hide it.
Cheers, Henri
I had this issue once and found that it was the enhanced email app. Installed and good to go.

i have the same problem use to get excellent battery life then all of a sudden phone last 7 hours i noticed on the status that the up time was 100%. it seems like it doesn't sleep anymore.please help
Something that I have noticed is that every time I pull the battery for this problem when I restart the phone the keyboard is reverting from the Smart Keyboard Pro back to the standard Samsung keyboard. Is anyone else seeing this? Could this be related?
It has to be an app that's killing the cpu look on the first page under my original post Hyabusa1300 (thanks) gave me the advice that worked. Figure out which app is causing the issue and uninstall it.

Almost always a hot phone means it is doing something in the background. Defiantly check battery stats and see what is running
Hello there xda. I bought my first SGH-i747m(Canada Bell version) and it had a pretty serious heat problem when I did use my cellphone doing anything for more than 5 minutes. After 15 minutes it usually bothers me too much so I just stop using my device.
I didn't try anything to fix it yet other than using a JB rom(ParanoidAndroid) on both my first device, and now my second device. They both do the absolute same thing. The bottom half gets really hot while the top half stays really cool.
Is that a common thing? If so, is there any fixes? It's really horrible to use a half hot/cold device, even worse than using a fully hot device.
Nah
Try turning Powersave On.
I had issues with overheating too.
Now they are all gone.
I'm running Nostalgia 7.5
It gets hot at the bottom because that's where the CPU and all that good stuff are, and that good stuff gets hot. Mine doesn't get crazy hot down there but it is definitely warmer down there then the top, that much is normal. Yours may be to hot down there however... Idk. But I've seen others with this issue cool the phone down with custom kernels. I've also seen people say custom kernels make there phone hotter.. Try it out.

I'm on custom JB, so there' no "powersave".
I guess I'll try different kernels etc. I'm quite close to actually selling the device, overheating is one of my pet peeves.
Are you sure its overheating?
Like the gentleman a few posts up said. Depending on how you use it. The phone will get warm.
It should never be actually hot, to the point where it will harm you if you pick it up.

try going back to stock, all of a sudden the phone doesnt get as hot.
or try underclocking your kernel on custom. AOKP and CM both have an out of the box clock of 1.8 Ghz.
tune it down to 1.3 or 1.1. issue gone.

I feel like I shouldn't be complaining, and that it's not "overheating" but it's getting warm. I'm used to my SGS1 which runs ice cold whatever I do.
I just underclocked it, but I don't even feel the difference. I'm now running the new ParanoidAndroid with the custom kernel recommended in here. It has all the tweaking tools necessary.
Happened even on stock ROM
Mine runs a bit warm too. It is warm to the point where is gets uncomfortable to keep in my pocket at times and as far as I know it is doing "nothing". It will be fine, then I check an email or G+ notification then it goes crazy.
One commenter suggested going back to stock but mine has been doing the same thing since then, it just seem a bit more regular for the last few days. I am now in KyanROM 1.3. I am going to give that po.wer save thing a shot over the next day or so and let you guys know how that goes.
Use setcpu load up the setcpu widget and tell up what tempature your phone is

I notcied it is overheating when it's on LTE and the battery drain fast. I turned LTE off and I am using 4g or wifi and i don't have this problem
I noticed my phone started connecting to LTE since this week too but my overheating problem started long before that. What I noticed though is that the battery also started to drain a lot faster when it started. For the battery drain, I am thinking it is either that LTE thing or a rouge app trying access my GPS a lot since the icon keeps popping up more and more in the notification bar "searching". For now I have disabled LTE and GPS until I have time to investigate them.
By the way, I tried using PowerSave, as someone suggested to help with the overheating, but it screwed up how some of my emails are displayed so I turned it off.
Over the past couple weeks my sons phone started to have a couple issues. These are the first issues we've experienced since we got the phone when it was first released. The first two problems were that it started dying real fast and I mean in a couple hours with zero usage. Before the problem started we were getting 15-20 hours with moderate usage. The second issue was that at any point in time it would shut down and it would take a charger to be plugged in to restart it (even though it wasn't dying).
When this started it was completely stock. Since then here are the steps I've taken...
1) checked battery stats, Android OS was always on top at around 70%. No rogue apps
2) loaded CPU Spy, the phone seemed to be sleeping normally
3) remove sd card
4) shut off wifi
5) factory reset (didn't stop the issues)
6) went into the stock recovery and wiped data and cache (I've since heard this may cause an issue in the stock build)
7) loaded a custom recovery (Agat)
8) loaded CM10 (this seems to have fixed the problem with it dying quickly)
And it just shut off out of no where. Is there something else I can try?

Maybe I'm wrong but I read that he flashed Agats kernel then flashed CM 10. I believe you can't use a TW based Kernel on CM builds? That may cause serious problems.

He was having issues on stock. Then he loaded up custom roms.
But yeah check the battery that's what the quick dying might be.
Mines started dying even tho it said it had 70-80% battery left. Bought a new battery problem solved.

I'm going to head out and pick up a new battery once the Sprint store open this morning. Then I'm planning on bringing it completely back to stock and hopefully that takes care of it.
My wife is threatening me that if we need to get him a new phone that she'll give him her iphone 4 and buy an iphone 5 for herself. I need to make sure I get this phone back up and running properly so that doesn't happen. lol
I went to the Sprint store this morning and he didn't even have to test the battery to know it's defective. I guess batteries get swollen at a certain point and from that point on it will hold less and less of a charge and start shutting down spontaneously as it gets worse. Needless to say I have another Samsung battery on order and will be getting this back to as stock as I can.
Thanks for your help and the headslap!

So I upgraded on Thursday and is in love with this device . But after a day I noticed the device getting warm then hot in the matter of minutes. I troubleshoot the best of my abilities but no avail. Factory data reset, unistall bloat, calibrating the battery still no go. Then I stumble across a YouTube video for s4 with the same problem and the video suggest turning off all the toggles. And it worked!!!! I'm still going to return my device but this was the solution that worked for me.

I was setting it up.. downloading all my apps.. so it took like 30 mins for all the apps. .I'm guessing it was the wife adapter inside that may have heated. Day 2 and device runs normal.. I'll try gaming today and check

Must have been unlucky because this is my first phone in a year that never gets warm, the Htc One and LG G2 got so hot I could just hit autoupload with 10 apps in que and then use them for handwarmers on a cold night. I'm amazed that when I have it tethered for hours it doesn't get warm whatsoever whereas those other two devices would get so hot I was afraid they would eventually die prematurely. My guess is some things could have been addressed eventually, maybe not but my Note 3 is just perfect out of the box thank goodness.
You sir, truly need an android and iphone will never be am option to someone who uses their device as much as you. I mean I don't even download 4 apps/games in 1 day lol.

Mine does under certain circumstances. But then again I have all radios on including NFC and Bluetooth with a Galaxy Gear connected all the time. It mostly gets warm when doing a lot of data transfer.
I agree it's during data x fer. . Tried gaming yesterday. .. Didn't heat. . But got sightly warm.
But with data x fer. .. It's more than warm. .hot!!

Saying it isn't normal is quite a leap. Remember that the back cover is very thin plastic. Don't just assume something is wrong unless your phone actually hurts you or powers down due to the heat.
G2 and Note 3 (sd800) get warm pretty quick. Neither gets hot for me. Not yet anyway. I think throttling stops my devices from getting overly hot. Obviously ambient temperature plays a part. 75 degrees all day for me. Indoors
Have two Note 3's and 1 G2 on my family account. Replaced one note 3 already for cosmetic issues.
Mine got pretty hot on the first day when I was busy rooting, flashing, and deleting stuff, but now it only gets slightly warm if I'm doing something data-intensive.
Most phones will get hot when using either wifi or the mobile data radio a lot. My S3 used to. It was never too hot to touch but always concerned me. My Note3 however has been quite cool. I played Bloon TD5 for a few hours yesterday (I was very bored) and it got a little warm, but thats about it. If it concerns you, take it back and have it replaced.
I got an update yesterday. Today I tried and downloaded asphalt 1.5gb game. It didn't even warm up. So I'm guessing the update..MAYBE fixed it.

My phone just started to overheat and I am not sure why. The area near the camera/flash is where I feel most of the heat, specifically the SD card area so I removed the micro SD card which worked great for a day and now its back to overheating. What's worse is that it happens overnight to the point where my phone shuts itself off due to battery drain (the phone was not charging and had 100%).
Bout to call tmo for a replacement.
overheat using 3G
I am facing the same issue.
Just bought last week and i find in below case my phone gets overheat. BTW to me, overheat is the set gets so warm that if i put in my ear, i cant even talk cause its HOT.
1. if i use 3G browsing for like 10/15 mins
2. downloading something via WIFI for like 30/40 mins.
i really dont understand whats the issue. how to solve this ? its insane i paid so much for this phone but if it heated up this much... how to use ! damn ...
I've woken up to my phone being extremely hot but it has only happened because of a rogue app I installed turned out to be that Themer was the culprit. I uninstalled Themer and haven't had any issues since. Keep in mind I had Themer installed for about a month and every time they would push out an update I would get over heating problems. Though Themer is still in beta I'll just wait till the official version is released.
