Dear all ,
Im a first timer here , trying to install Paranoid Android Toroplus 3.60 (25 June 2013) on my rooted GSM Galaxy Nexus.
I flash a recovery (TWRP 2.5.0.0) , factory reset-ed + wipe dalvik & cache , then when I try to install the PA toroplus file (zip). It says failed : Error executing updater binary in zip...
Then , i switch to CWM 6.0.3.1 , same procedure and same problem occurs , this time is failed : assert failed: getprop("ro.product.device").
Really need help in this. Thanks.

toroplus has stuff written for the sprint version of the galaxy nexus and will not work on anything other than the sprint galaxy nexus
maguro is for the GSM nexus.
Edit: Nevermind already answered up above
Short version:
Maguro = Unlocked GSM version
Toro = Verizon
Toroplus = Sprint
You need to use the right version for the device you have. They are not compatible with eachother.

Will the kernel has the same thing for GSM Galaxy Nexus - toroplus , maguro ?

yes. kernels are generically the same and should work across any variant.
you still should use the one for your variant however.
ROMs are still device specific.

Hello, I just got my new Galaxy Nexus (with Wind Mobile in Canada) and I successfully unlocked and rooted my phone. I tried to flash some roms and no matter what roms (tried AOSP and Gummy just now) I flash, the baseband goes unknown and I basically can't get any service with my phone. I'm wondering if this is is an isolated incident with me or if I'm doing something wrong. Any suggestions and comments will be appreciated. Thanks!
I've never heard of this.. very strange.

This may sound like a silly question, but you are flashing the GSM version of the ROMs, right?

I don't believe I am. When I fastboot, it says "Maguro" so I flashed a maguro type rom but when I do that, it gives me an error. So I flash it with a Toro type rom, and then it works. But after flashing it with a Toro rom, it gives me the error I mentioned in my opening post.

efrant, thanks for the quick response. I'm a newbie at this but my galaxy nexus is from purchased from wind mobile so I'm not sure if it's GSM or verizon device. There was another rom type I saw as well: "toroplus", which I didn't try flashing. Should I be flashing that type of rom or what would should I be doing? Thanks again.

You have a maguro (GSM) device. Only Verizon has toro devices, and only Sprint has toroplus devices. Everyone else in the world has marguo.
The best thing for you to do is to flash the stock images (follow the "flash" link in my signature). Once you are done that, then flash whatever custom ROM you want (maguro version of course).

Thanks. On the google page with the factory images, which factory image should I be downloading? I'm assuming "yakju" but I'm not 100% sure.

yakju or takju, it doesn't matter at this point. The important thing is that it is maguro.

If you followed my guide you are certainly NOT running an AOSP build.
This is something im wanting to test for Verizon GNex users, If you flash my AndroidME GNex 1.7.0 ROM and then flash this file after it SHOULD convert it to a working version for Verizon, If anyone is willing to test id be grateful.
This wont change anything you cant reverse so just take a backup of your current setup and if it doesnt work just restore. This WILL NOT flash a radio, only the ROM.
So to be clear download both files bellow, Flash the GSM ROM then straight after flash the Verizon-update.zip, Then boot up.
Verizon-update.zip
MD5: 9a2abb35cd83ca2221996611899fd541
AndroidME_GNex_1.7.0.zip
MD5: 74be013e28fa456c786a73931951db9f
Please let me know asap if it works, If it doesnt ill take this down. Thanks
UPDATE:
Changed ROM to GNex version (Stock Google base) and has no assert (getprop) in updater so should flash fine.
Updated Verizon-update.zip with all the Toro props i could think of.
Sure, I don't mind being a guinea pig. Downloading now. Edit soon.
Edit: No-go. The ROM wouldn't install. Tried to flash in CWM Touch. It said there was a error with the zip file (Status 7) and aborted installation.

The patch wouldn't have worked to make it function on Verizon either.
For this all to work, you would need:
Toro proprietaries, Toro asserts in the installer script for the rom, as well as a modified Mms.apk with the correct uaprof. Then it should (mostly) work.
The framework would still be wrong for radio attributes though. This has yet to show any bearing on how that affects anything.

This has nothing to do with radio. So as long as the file has the right props with a correct build.prop etc it should work fine. I compiled cm10 for both devices and compared side by side and there shouldn't be any issues.

Never flash ROM from different variant...
Galaxy Nexus doesn't have 4.1.2 yet, but people in the development forum had complied a nice pure AOSP ROM that is based on 4.1.2

Sorry but what does that mean? should i flash that AOSP ROM? or should i wait for the OTA?
Well if you really want that minor update, by all means, go ahead. I'm not doing you, but I personally am going to wait for AOKP to update
Also AOSP means android open source project. Pure AOSP is basically means stock

well the full factory image is out for Takju, but doing so will wipe your entire phone.. hope the OTA for yakju comes sooner..

Yes the factory image hit, but the OTA isn't available.
Word is that the images weren't even supposed to go up today. There was supposed to be an OTA to Google employees' devices for final dogfooding.
When it's officially rolling out to takju devices you'd better bet its rolling out to yakju at the exact same time.

4.1.2 OTA to newly purchased Galaxy nexus
will a newly purchased Galaxy nexus that is still running 4.0.4 receive the OTA for 4.1.2 ? OR at first it needs to have 4.1.1 running to receive the OTA ?
Is there any possibility that the 4.1.1 OTA will still be available for the new device ?

but check general section and the .zip file to port Nexus ROMs to other Nexus variants,maybe it works and fixes WiFi, radio baseband and so on.
