Yeah, but only if you sign up on the $50 plan. I tried to buy full price at 2 T-Mobile stores today, they refused to sell to me at $579 - they wanted $649! I brought up their web site on my phone, showed them the 579 price on their web site, they said it was only for new plans and wouldn't budge. So I left there, went to AT&T and got it for $639...not a huge savings, lol, but at least they're honest on their pricing.
Btw, out of curiousity, I went to T-Mobile's web site later, clicked on the 579 buy full price link, added it to my cart. Wouldn't let me check out unless I added a plan to it! So yeah, the 579 deal is BS.

Well .... its no contract, right? So, sign up for the $50 plan, get the $579 phone, use it for a month, then cancel .....
OR ... is there issues there that to get the $50 plan you need credit check with good credit or you then need to put a deposit down?
What is the drawback / issue with just signing up for the $50 plan to get the phone $70 cheaper?
Thanks!
I bought one with a cracked screen for $200. Bought the replacement screen/digitizer for $225, the frame and the rear housing for $20. Repair the device myself. Total cost $445. Practically a new device. Only parts used from the original device I purchased was the motherboard and attached components. The satisfaction of repairing this myself, PRICELESS!

Hey all,
Where can i find the lowest upgrade price for this phone? it is way to high everywhere i have looked. I have a classic plan, not the value plan, so from T-mobile, i would be paying $229 + $50 (rebate). Basically $279 without tax.
Any lower prices out there? if not, i will go with the One S
Hate to say it cause I work for tmo as a sales rep. Lowest upgrade price is at walmart and they usually don't add the req(contracted)/correct data plan especially if you rush them

When you get a discount with your upgrade you have to have a contracted data plan. I.e. a required data plan. At walmart I've seen like 90% of our customers who bought their phone at Walmart come to the store because they didn't get the data plan that's required with the upgrade... so we add a non-contracted data plan on (one you can take off the account if you want)
Required data plan (contracted) = a data plan you can not take off for the length of the contract... you can increase or decrease the amount of data you want to purchase (200mb, 2gb, 5gb, 10gb) but you can't remove it completely without breaking contract

really? so you payed $199,no $50 added or extra fees?
i walked into the local tmobile store and the price was $199, but the lady there said i was gonna pay $279.
what plan do you have?
id rather do t-mobile cuz i like how the warranty works...plus i walk out of the store with my phone
don't go to t-mobile stores. Talk to the loyalty/retention department, they usually hook it up when you upgrade/extend your contract. you should not be paying $230+ for this phone with an upgrade because you can find it off CL for about $300-375 (ymmv, friend got one for $310 2 days ago)

Man you guys are crazy, I work for Costco. I sell it for $179 + tax. No MIR, nothin. You also get a free accessory bundle which includes an extra car/wall charger, leather pouch, screen protectors and data cable. Not to mention a 90 day exchange period with NO restocking fee. If something better drops 2 months from now, you just bring it back and pay the difference. Buying a phone anywhere else is just nuts.

I dont know why they would say 279 unless your 2 years isnt up yet

Please explain how people said to go to Walmart and Costco to get the phone are crazy when you said to go to Costco lol -_-.
In my opinion, it is crazy to spend $200 on a phone with an upgrade that is 7 months old. The price has been free-100 the past couple months with upgrade.
Instead of using your upgrade i would just pay $100 more to have it off contract.

I obviously wasn't talking to the ones who suggested Costco or Walmart.... I'm taking about the ones who go through tmo direct. Even at $199, that costs more, you have no free accessories and only a 14 day exchange period (which also requires that you ship it back to them if you got it from the loyalty dept at that price, plus a restocking fee). I agree with you on the off contract price though. If you get lucky you can get one on CL in the $300-$350 range. If you can swing that, I'd go that route and save your upgrade for a newer phone. We do have the One S at Costco for $189. But I presume a lot of folks would rather wait to see if the SIII makes an appearance on tmo anytime soon.

I got mine for $137 with upgrade through the retention department and they gave me a buy one get one free deal, so the wife is rocking a GS2 as well. No MIR required.
Had a problem with them sending out the wrong color phone so I had to do a mail in return. But, in the process of talking with them and crediting my account for the wrong phone, they accidentally changed my upgrade status and 4 months later I am still showing eligible for a full upgrade.
wow....this is crazy, defiantly checking out Costco....or hassling them on the phone till i get a good price.

see if they will exchange it for working phone in the T-Mobile store.
But I somehow don't buy your story. Blocking IMEI is good protection against thieves.
Depending on the situation it can take weeks for an imei to get blocked. It doesn't matter how you got it, matters of it was paid for it not through them ie first payment default or stolen. Tmo will not unlock it. You need to call the cops.

Bad luck? Really? You allegedly chose to purchase a top of the line phone for full price off of Craigslist instead of the T-Mo store. Why in the world would you do that? Something does not make sense.
Anyway it's nice to see that if my phone is stolen, I can block anyone trying to use it. A person in one of the threads who claimed to work for Tmo said they can't really block phones. Guess that poster was wrong.

Bummer dude, if T-Mobile said it was stolen then that's all there is. No way to change that, they block the IMEIs of phones that are reported lost, stolen, and phones on EIP (Equipment Installation Program) that have stopped paying. Best bet is to unlock to AT&T and sell it. I got mine in a trade for my note, but made sure to get the receipt even tho it was a previous customer of mine. Called T-mobile and immediately to have it registered in my name with IMEI to make sure there was no EIP in place. Next time run the IMEI, ask them to go into a T-Mobile store with you instead of meeting them at McDonald's.

What is not to believe? I bought mine off CL too... I didn't want to extend my contract, I have 1 more year with T-mobile then I'm switching to something else (but that's another story). If I bought the phone from T-mobile it would have cost me like $330 + tax - the $50MIR + get locked in to T-mobile for an extra 12 months of service... I bought the phone from someone - Yeah, I paid a little extra, but I have the option of LEAVING T-mobile in 12 months - AS I PLAN TOO, for a cheaper monthly service - so TO ME it was worth the extra up-front cost.
I'm not defending the OP, I'm defending the idea that its shady to buy a high end phone off craigslist or NOT from the dealer. Just because YOU think its ok to FINANCE the extra balance and cost of the phone instead of paying up front for it, that's YOUR CHOICE (or the OP choice) if not then that is also THEIR CHOICE.
I have bought several iPhone's - ALL FOR MUCH MORE THAN THE CONTRACT DISCOUNT PRICE because we have been on T-mobile which doesn't offer the iPhone so the only way to get the iPhone is to buy out right. That might make me stupid, but not shady. :good:
All cellphone carriers in the US must sell phones at their outright price. I just bought my S3 from VZW at $600 full price...Why didn't you just do that?

Thanks![11 dollars a month no way, I pay 8 dollars a month on my plan. It's definitely worth having insurance i have bricked two phones over the past 3 years and I have gotten a replacement free of charge trough Sprint, now Asurion is a very crappy insurance service, They wanted to charge me 500 usd for a broken HTC Evo Design that had been run over and sent back for replacement.]

Thanks for the replies, I'm on the SERO plan, so not sure BB can do the upgrade.
I went with the best buy insurance. There is no deductible but they do not cover lost or stolen phones. Plus if you pay for the full 2 years at once they give you a discount. I believe it came out to $170, which is about $7 a month.

This is the number 1 reason I went with Sprint's TEP.
Worst case, I pay $150 for a new phone, and if it an actual hardware issue (not water or something "I" did) Sprint replaces it for free.
I got a replacement ET4G (bad GPS), and 2 replacement Samsung Moments (Bad USB Ports) all for free. Also got a replacement moment when it was less than 2 months old (stolen) for $100.
IMO, if you don't have some sort of insurance on your phone, you're nuts.
over two years with insurance if you file a claim, you will spend $414. if you break your phone without insurance the phone will cost $549.
personally, i have two children under three years old that throw objects very well. that includes cell phones laying around, so i have insurance on it
if you break your phone without insurance the phone will cost $549.
YOu're forgetting phone prices come down substantially after the first 6 months...
Personally I have only needed insurance once... paid 150 deductible for what would have cost me at most $200 to buy off ebay/craigslist for the same 'used' phone. Could have saved myself the year of premiums.
Didn't buy the insurance on the S3...remember manufacturer defects are still covered under it's warranty as well. (Though I don't recall how long that is just now... 90 day, or 1 yr).

I opted out of insurance. I got the HD2 a month before it was released when I worked for t-mobile and just recently sold it when I bought this phone through sprint. I just go out of my way to be careful wIth a phone.

Personnal preference is squaretrade. Wait for a 30% discount and it will be $95 for two years of coverage
Insurance, isnt always for you. its a given that youll be babying your phone. it covers the world around you. Sprint - Asurion TEP bills your cellphone to your account at your request. the only caveat is that its 150 dollar every claim deductable. im replacing my galaxy s3 in an insurance claim and since its so new its still currently on backorder. but they say itll take 5-7 business days. normally if you get your claim in before 10pm you get a new device out within 24 hours. its quite nice when it works as it should.
Hello XDA:
I'm looking to shop for a Galaxy Note 2, with clean IMEI number, anyone know of a best place to buy it off the contract? I want a brand New in the box etc...
If anyone know, please post the deals in this thread...
Thanks,
I'm sure it will help many people who are looking to buy one.
Went to best buy. Traded in my phone. They paid me about $200 bucks for my phone, and beat Tmobile's price of $319 for the note. Best Buy sold me a note for $219 bucks, and THEN they subtracted the $200 they gave me for my old phone. I walked out with a new note 2 only paying $37.70. (I must make notice that I also purchased their warranty which replaces the phone if ANYTHING bad happens to it *minus theft* and a case, which they also matched the price of another site on and since they didnt have any otter boxes)
All in all, i think Best Buy has the competition beat here, but i please IMPLORE others to post me a better deal....maybe then i can tell them to price match that and they can give me some of my $40 bucks back lol!

Well, it seems the Note 2 from T-Mobile's website is back-ordered. Does anyone know how long it generally takes for the new stocks to come in?

I got mine on contract. I thought that's what we were talking about. Calm down... The original person never specifically asked for either so I told them my deal. Can't get mad if you didn't specify!

Guys this guy and he sold me a bad imei number cellphone(note 2) last week in NewYork and it seems he has been doing this business on online forums and craigslist for a number of years.I regret being a victim but do not want you guys to be part of his cheating business. He gave me he box which has different imei than the actual imei number of the phone. This guy is a professional thief who is well educated but for the very wrong cause. He might change his id but his name is and do not deal with him.

I bought mine from a tmobile store owner for 650 cash. The owner had used it for one week and just likes to try all the phones out. Got a free 32gb Samsung card, case, battery and screen protector. Oh ya and some random car charger. Came with a bill of sale and IMEI number on it ^_^

Lol, scott that kinda sounds shady but i believe you. I just was not aware that any corp store could do that. Especially giving the accessories with it.
Kinda makes me wanna think twice about returning my phones next time. I do that alot...and by that, i mean like the guy, buy and try new phones quite a bit...at least, ones they don't end up sending me for free

It was a tmobile store but not an official one. It is called emobile in garden Grove ca. All I wanted was a legitimate bill of sale. I tried ten different people on Craigslist but no one would even give me a bill of sale.

I know I'm getting the Note 3, it is just a matter of when. I dont necessarily want to pay $704 for a phone, but I just sold my Note 2 and am running on a basic phone (not fun). On one hand, i really would like a new phone to ensure quality but I also am okay with waiting a few weeks. Do you guys think I should just bite the bullet and buy it or wait a few weeks and pick up one from ebay, craigslist or swappa? Will prices even be that different after a few weeks? Thanks
I wouldn't buy from Craigslist or swappa. Too much risk. They work for one month, person stops making payments, then bad imei. If you do buy, go through reputable sources.

Any suggestions on a good place to buy?
$0 with t-mobile right now... I would say get it now.

Because of the EIP, I would say T-Mobile (or any authorized stores) would be the safest place to buy. The used market is too risky now because of the EIP T-Mobile started.
But, I do have one suggestion if you do buy it off of Craigslist. Meet at a T-Mobile store and if it's possible, have a T-Mobile rep confirm that the specific phone has been paid off. If the seller is legit, then he would have no problems doing this for you.

Thanks guys, I think the best course of action would be to buy outright from T-Mobile, this way I know what exactly what I'm getting. I just cant get over that $704 price tag! I guess thats the price you pay for a quality phone. Appreciate the help!

The EIP is reasonable, my girl is paying 21 per month, but she put 200 down. 29 without

I put 400 down and I only pay 14 a month ..

I ordered mine today for zero down and added Jump to my plan. If I decided to trade it in in 6 months, I'll be out a lot less money that if I put $199 down. Sweet deal.

Yeah I think people don't realize how good the $0 down deal is for people who are going to take advantage of JUMP

Is this the same phone and same packaging as what I would get at tmobile? Can anyone speak to the websites validity and service?

It's unlocked which is great. The ones at the store will be Sim locked to TMobile. Don't now if there are any other differences. Negri has been around a long time and I would consider them a reputable company. They used to advertize on TWIT

Sign up for Jump and you can give back your phone and get another new one in 6 months. Any payments remaining on your old one go away and you start over with payments on the new one. That's why the zero down is a great deal. You won't be out the $199 down payment that some people paid if they pre-ordered before today. I believe Jump is only available on the Simple Choice plans. Not available if you're on Monthly 4G I think. It costs $10 per month and doubles as phone insurance also.
