Ok, i've just got my HTC One X back from repair from HTC and kinda figured the SIM would be relocked. But there are some anomalys that are currently going on that i kinda need help figuring out. The first is that the IMEI from the phones info are, *#06#, and back ID Sticker is completely different from the box. My phone still has the small scuffs from when i sent it in so it cant be a new device. But the second and most important problem im having is the site ive always used to get my SIM Unlocks cant even find the IMEI Unlock code... any suggestions..?

They might have replaced the mainboard and given you a new imei, new imei's take a little longer for the unlock codes to become available.

So it might take a week or two for my IMEI code to hit the system? The site I use has an option to go through the manufacture to get it but its about $15 more.

I would save your money and wait a couple of weeks, they release them in batches once a month and it might not be available even from htc yet. the unlockers usually just keep checking until it's available.

I'm sorry for such a stupid query but can we find the IMEI of the Desire any other way besides entering the *#06# thing?
Is the IMEI located behind the battery as well like in all other phones?
yes of course it is....
although if you are asking that, i wonder why you haven't just looked, because you obviously have one....or have access to one.
No I don't have one but I will be getting a locked one next month which I'll have to unlock and since I won't have the contract sim I would not be able to check the IMEI using that other method so wanted to just make sure that the IMEI is behind the battery as I would need that to get my unlock code.
Thanks a lot though
PS: My brother will be in London for 2 years so he's taking the Desire on contract but he'll use the contract sim in his older phone which he's more comfortable with
The number is printed under the battery

When you get the phone, you can also check the IMEI number by going to settings, about phone, then phone identity. Its all there.

yes, you do not need a sim to check the IMEI. the IMEI is nothing to do with the SIM or network.
Thanks a lot everyone. You people are really helpful
Hi all .. i had iphone 4s which i exchanged with someone via gumtree with one x. the phone was locked to three and was new. so i unlocked it today via unlocksaver.com
i entered the code they gave me and it searched for something then it said successful but when it restarted it is saying IMEI locked in the place where it shows carrier in notification tray. what does that mean? i dont understand is it blacklisted? or is it not unlocked properly? i noticed i tried to restart it 2 or three times and it did got a signal once then again it says imei locked
The only way a phone will get blocked is if the owner reports it being stolen/lost
You could be a victim of crime if bought on second hand market as the owner is probably doing insurance scam.
are u from denmark then post eng and danish
Not had the same issue but saw something in the forum. Try this:
Go to menu settings then power and untick fast boot. Restart phone and see what that does if it works tick fast boot back

Sometimes it just says no service but sometimes it says imei locked .. i am worried my phone has no signal does it has anything to do with that unlock code i purchased?
If the phone is blocked (the imei) from the carrier for being stolen or lost, your sim should work for like 5 minutes before it gets locked, this meens you can make phone calls or send sms in the first 5 minutes before it gets locked.it is how much time your phone needs to send the imei number to your carrier so they can check if it is ok or if it is been stolen/lost. You can go at this website http://www.amta.org.au/pages/amta/Check.the.Status.of.your.Handset and check the status of your imei, it is for Australia but try to find the service/website for your country.

My brand new sim free One X did this when I first tried to use it - called retailer to exchange it - they suggested a hard reset (keep power button held for 10 secs +) and that fixed the problem for me. Worth a try?

tbh if you have been stung by this person with a stolen handset i would return the favor and report the iphone stolen, but dont do it until you have comfermed that he has done this.
sounds like the typical insurance scam to me.

thanks for replies people... i did manged to get in contact with that person and realy tried to help me alot but the wiered thing is when i got home and tried to turn on phone after 12 hours or soething the phone was working and i felt embarresed taht i bloked iphone and that guy had no intention of that but there was realy something wrong with my phone. its fine now :/
My One X had the exact same problem, took it back to the store i got it from and they changed it for a new one which worked fine.
Seems it may be a problem with the phone rather than a dodgy seller as mine came from Carphone Warehouse
What a cruel joke...after a week I get mine from expansys and I am getting IMEI locked contact customer care!!!! Aghhhh...
Please tell me there is another solution to resolve this aside from RMA and more waiting?
Damn...
Moderator Information,
I have closed this thread as we do not allow the discussion of changing or editing IMEI numbers. I am afraid the best thing you can do is try to find the person who sold you the phone and report the issue to them.
Many thanks,
Stephen
If you are looking for a cheap unlock solution for your HTC One X i suggest you go here.
I used them before twice and they are very reliable and extremely cheap,
Also should mention you don't buy this on Ebay, you enter your phone details on the description of the product on Ebay and then click "buy now"
then it will take you to paypal where you pay for it.

did you test it ?
I tried and it seems like it took me to a weird paypal site, and after purchasing the transaction isn't displayed in my Paypal history, password changed super fast after that... Not sure if I trust them.
Just an update that I've just received a code from them and it is now showing up in PayPal. I haven't tried the code yet as I'm out and don't have a micro sim with me but would still advise anyone to change there password after using the service and not to enter their phone number.

Why are you so security obsessed? it's using Paypal and your details will be safe, what's so weird about it? it's just has their logo on the payment page lol
So this unlocks my phone and changes the cid? Allowing me to get OTA WWE updates as opposed to carrier branded crap?

Only changing the CID (ie SuperCID ) changes the CID. This is a SIM UNLOCK which allows carrier locked handsets to be unlocked and used with another carrier's SIM.

What a rip off. UK users can get their phones carrier unlocked for free by their provider. O2 gave me my code with no fuss at all.

not true, Orange will charge £25 same with Three,
Hi guys! first, thanks for your time.
I'm going crazy finding unlock code for my HTC One X.
I bought it on December 2012, from Personal (Telecom) Argentina.
I tried almost all the Ebay publications an all claim to don't have the unlock code.
I tried also, some pages too. I don't have any problem to pay for "fresh db" or something but I'm traveling out of my country in 1 month, and I need the unlock code in order to use local company from the other country.
Anyone know a VERY good page for unlock?
Thanks again for your time, and hope you all have a nice day.

The OP is right, SIM unlock is possible with the right code. Most people that did this bought it indeed from eBay. Maybe you can get some more info at your provider, or at least the provider where its locked to ?

Thanks for the quick reply guys.
My provider will give me the unlock code when the contract ends (in 1 more year).
I unlocked a lots of cellphones for friends, via ebay. But I don0t understand why nobody got the un lock code for my imei.
PD: I'm not asking for a software or rom for sim-unlock. Just good unlock pages to try (where you pay for the code).
Thanks again hope you have a wonderful weekend.

I successfully used cellunlocker.net on my previous hox and it was a tuff one as 2 other sites failed. Actually even they failed first attempt and I believe I had to try their 'alternate method' which worked. Took a few days though.
Good luck

Its a bit vague but I seem to remember they didn't have my code in their existing lists but advised me to use the alternate method on the website which I think means they ask HTC directly for it

Orange UK wanted to charge me £20 for an unlock code!
£3 on ebay.....You can guess which one I went for???
At least with ebay you have some payment protection.
Okay, so here's the story. Fed up with my One V and needed to upgrade. Found a faulty One X on ebay, bought it for £110 or so thinking I could fix it. I couldn't. Rooting didn't help, was a hardware issue. Came on here and apparently only option is to send it back. Turns out the phone is still under warranty (well, if it wasn't rooted). Reflash to stock, send it to HTC (no proof of purchase!) and today I received it back! Good as new, and they even chucked in a free pair of headphones because it took them so long! So yeah, HTC rock.
Only issue is it's locked to a network because the ebay seller was a moron and listed it wrong/incorrectly. I tried 2 unlocking sites already but no luck, anyone have a link to one that they've used that worked? Ideally I'd like to do it via internet but I guess I'll take it to a shop and see if they can if its required.
Glad to hear that someone (else than myself) has good experience with the HTC Support!

As far as I know, it doesn't. On some mobile phones you can pretty easily network unlock your device when having root acces (by looking for some kind of code in a file that's in your root folder), but rooting doesn't do this automatically.
What's your carrier? From what I have read here on xda, if I'm not wrong, orange and Vodafone have changed the unlock codes and the codes from internet don't work. I'm on tmobike and I unlocked my phone to any network from online site without any problem.
Sent from my HTC One X
To what network is your phone locked and will let you know for sure if it can be unlocked by code or not. As an alternative one x now can be unlock by cable ,so probably some unlock shops can do that for you also
