4G/4G LTE swapping.....wasting battery? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 4

So I must live right at the edge of LTE, my phone is constantly swapping between LTE at 0/1 bar and HSPA+ at 4 bars. Is this constant swapping eating my battery?

Have a look at this thread:

It seems to deal with your issue.

Rogers Stronger HSPA/3G Signal?

Kind of a stupid topic but thought I would ask. Has anyone else in the Thornhill/Vaughan area noticed much stronger HSPA/3G signal strength?
In my entertainment room in the basement I used to get NO HSPA/3G signal and always switched to Edge (2G) so I can make and receive phone calls. I would also get about 1-2 bars in 2G (Edge). Today however I noticed that I got full bars HSPA/3G and they stay full. I thought it was a bug and noticed my iPhone also had full bars.
So anyone else or am I just bugging out?

You can use something like Open Signal Maps to see the towers around. They probably just put up a new one near your house...

I have no idea but I'm getting nearly 7000mbps in my basement lol.

7000Mb/s or 7000MB/s?
Anyway, regardless of units, you seem to have a super internet connection using HSPA+/HSPA
My guess is 7Mb/s.

Has anyone purchased the Wilson Sleek 4G-V Verizon LTE booster?

I saw that the Verizon LTE booster from Wilson Electronics is finally being sold, the Sleek 4G-V, and was wondering if anyone has tried it and could provide feedback. Thanks!

I have purchased it and have been using it inside my room. Normally the signal will jump to 3g with 1bar and 4g has been very spotty at my house. The signal booster allows my nexus to lock on to 4g at about - 101dbm and speedtest does about 2.5~4.5mb/s now. Without the booster, it will drop to 3g and do about 0.20~0.5mb/s at 1 bar of signal. It does its job and is well worth the investment if you are in a bad reception area.
I need to get something like that

That's exactly what I was hoping. Thanks for the info.

LTE is super spotty where I live and really inconsistent. In my state capitol I get LTE and it's around 2mbs. I alternate between 3g/LTE from block to block with 100% signal strength on stock rom. In some hicktown with a population of 1,000 people LTE gets 20-30mb/s. Regarding Sprint, you are lucky to get LTE at all, I'd be happy.
ATT HSDPA+ gets 1-3mb/s everywhere in my state. I'll be changing soon.

TMO LTE

Hey guys, just a wisdom about lte.
I get 1 bar of LTE inside my house, 2-3 bar of HSPDA and 4 bars of 2G. Does anyone know if tmobile will continue to add towers to the area even though my area has lte?
1 bar of lte is still faster then HSPDA.. Idk why I get 0-1bar of lte although I get full bar edge.

Tmobile will definitely be expanding LTE coverage. As to when and where, only they know. When hspa+ first came to my area, I noticed an increase in signal every few months. I'm sure they will work on just getting LTE to all major cities before they work on increasing coverage.

Alright..Kinda sucks to keep switching between lte and 3g and 2g.. I noticed even on only 2g/3g, the network switches a lot more compared to my old phone galaxy nexus.

LTE spotted in Amherst, MA....FRICKIN' AMHERST MA!!!

So I just flashed over to Wicked v4 this morning and noticed the LTE icon. At first I thought it was just another fluke, showing LTE instead of 4G or H+. I only had 1 bar vs my normal 4 which is normal if I'm using the fast APN instead of epc in a non LTE area (none of western MA is on LTE). Yet, low and behold, when I switched my network to GSM/WCDMA only the icon changed to 4G. "What the....", I thought to myself, so I changed back to LTE and the icon reappeared. Alright then time to check status in Settings. HOLY SH#$! LTE!
THANK YOU T-MOBILE!
For reference my normal speeds were 11ish down and 2 up.
Easy there killer. I know your excited but there is an Lte thread right below yours. Calm your Tits and have a wonderful morning

If you don't care, don't comment. If no one cares the thread will die and that'll be the end of it.
My excitement is warranted and my thread is certainly as worthy as others. With Boston just getting on the official LTE track, having it in a "rural" area of mountains and tobacco fields and dairy farms kinda stands out in my opinion. And apparently the opinion of tmonews.com as well.
And TBDBITL to @sweets55.
