Kind of a stupid topic but thought I would ask. Has anyone else in the Thornhill/Vaughan area noticed much stronger HSPA/3G signal strength?
In my entertainment room in the basement I used to get NO HSPA/3G signal and always switched to Edge (2G) so I can make and receive phone calls. I would also get about 1-2 bars in 2G (Edge). Today however I noticed that I got full bars HSPA/3G and they stay full. I thought it was a bug and noticed my iPhone also had full bars.
So anyone else or am I just bugging out?

You can use something like Open Signal Maps to see the towers around. They probably just put up a new one near your house...

I have no idea but I'm getting nearly 7000mbps in my basement lol.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
7000Mb/s or 7000MB/s?
Anyway, regardless of units, you seem to have a super internet connection using HSPA+/HSPA
My guess is 7Mb/s.

Alright, as you may know some of the users are having network drops or switching way to often. So let's get all together and figure what areas are bad where you are having issues. I would be glad to bring all the data collected here and bring it up to a tier 3 in Verizon. I'm a register tester and I can give them my point of view. As stated on other sites, maybe other devices are giving wrong bars feed. It's worth a try. I will also make another thread for who is fine. Thanks.

Hi. I got my nexus yesterday. I really love it. I am on T-Mobile but the signal jump between 3g and h like crazy. I am aokp and radio xxkk6. Any suggestion
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA App
I thought 3g and H connection jumps are normal if you move a lot or stay at somewhere with instable 3g signal.
Mine does that all the time.
Oh and u can delete that "COMING SOON" in your signature
The phone is made to go from 3g to h if the data signal is being used then back to 3g when it is not.

This is not a feature of the Galaxy Nexus, but rather the proper way 3G/HSPA+ is supposed to be handled by GSM phones.
Sometimes skins will just leave the "3G" or "4G" symbols up in the status bar, even when the phone is actually switching much more often. The Nexus just shows the actual switching when it happens.
I'm on Sprint and I am using Toroplus. Well I have to drive a few streets down the block to get LTE. Well in my house I'm not getting any LTE. When I reboot my phone it shows that I have 4G 2 bars for about 10 seconds until being thrown off ****ty 3G Connection. In the sprint Coverage map it shows that my area has 4G LTE (Zip Code is 78223 in case you want to check)
I am running A jellybean ROM. Using FG01.
-.- As Usual No Damn Help.

And with that attitude I don't think you'll get any.
Its normal for it to do that. It detects 3G being stronger and switches. You have to put it in LTE only mode. Its a dialer code. Or you can you a JB ROM that has that option like cm10 or CNA.

man I wish I could help I live just outside a lte area (san antonio), the day they rolled out lte there I was driving through visiting family. I went from full on lte to 3g to low lte to 3g to just 3g btw I was all over san antonio. I wasn't impressed. That being said I would love to even have lte anytime to fully use my gnex.
I hope someone can help you out with your problem. At the time I was running a ics rom so I haven't even tried one with jb.

Reboot after enabling it. Have you tried that? Google the code... should pop up I think... :S

Nothing. Probably just the Coverage map lying. I phoned Sprint Customer support and they told me that by September I should have internet in my house after I gave him my Address. October at the most. Thanks guys for trying to help. Now off to bed for me since I am dying out of this horrible cold x(

I guess all I can say is just because a coverage map says you have service doesn't mean you will. There are a lot of places that I've seen have coverage according to the map (back when I had Sprint and now T-Mobile) that just don't fulfill that promise. There are so many factors that come into play in the real world when getting a signal that just can't be represented by a coverage map.
Not to mention that Sprint's LTE network is extremely new and hardly rolled out to full strength.

As many lies that sprint says. I like their LTE network. Getting 2 Megabytes per second download and 1 megabyte per second Upload. Its an amazing network and a disorganized Carrier.

I got home from a meeting today. 1-2 bars of 4G. I was so happy. I literally jumped up and down out of happiness. 10 minutes later after changing out of my Outfit. Back to regular 3G.

Got 4G LTE again, let's hope it stays this time.. my thought would be that Sprint currently has workers working in the towers. Because now I have an average of 2-3 Bars of 4G. 30 minutes ago when I had 4G I had 1-2 bars of 4G.

On jb ROMs vs. Stock ROM? My reception indoors is horrible. And outside it drops sometimes to nothing then comes up back down. You just never know

I'm not sure if that's the phone's fault. Because I always get full bars unless im in a rural area with not much around. Even in basements I get 2-3 bars when my friend's have zero signal

I just flashed to cm10,but I was using stock firmware all last week and I think reception is great both indoors and outdoors. I use to get no reception in certain elevators with my nokia and xperia play. With the Samsung, in those areas I get 3to4 bars.

I'm on stock, so whatever that is, I'm using it. Although I can confirm that using JB roms (such as CM10) on and s3 has no effect because my friend has the identical model I do (Both of ours were locked to Rogers before we both unlocked them to use on Telus) and the signal is always the same
Sometumes my bars drop to nothing and there is a black signal bars with grey out line and it will do that for a couple minutes then jump up to 4g or what ever reception I get at the time. Then out hers I'll get full bars. Sometimes I get no data at all just call with no internet. Maybe I got a NAD phone or something

Hey guys, just a wisdom about lte.
I get 1 bar of LTE inside my house, 2-3 bar of HSPDA and 4 bars of 2G. Does anyone know if tmobile will continue to add towers to the area even though my area has lte?
1 bar of lte is still faster then HSPDA.. Idk why I get 0-1bar of lte although I get full bar edge.

Tmobile will definitely be expanding LTE coverage. As to when and where, only they know. When hspa+ first came to my area, I noticed an increase in signal every few months. I'm sure they will work on just getting LTE to all major cities before they work on increasing coverage.

Alright..Kinda sucks to keep switching between lte and 3g and 2g.. I noticed even on only 2g/3g, the network switches a lot more compared to my old phone galaxy nexus.
