Kind of a stupid topic but thought I would ask. Has anyone else in the Thornhill/Vaughan area noticed much stronger HSPA/3G signal strength?
In my entertainment room in the basement I used to get NO HSPA/3G signal and always switched to Edge (2G) so I can make and receive phone calls. I would also get about 1-2 bars in 2G (Edge). Today however I noticed that I got full bars HSPA/3G and they stay full. I thought it was a bug and noticed my iPhone also had full bars.
So anyone else or am I just bugging out?

You can use something like Open Signal Maps to see the towers around. They probably just put up a new one near your house...

I have no idea but I'm getting nearly 7000mbps in my basement lol.

7000Mb/s or 7000MB/s?
Anyway, regardless of units, you seem to have a super internet connection using HSPA+/HSPA
My guess is 7Mb/s.
So I must live right at the edge of LTE, my phone is constantly swapping between LTE at 0/1 bar and HSPA+ at 4 bars. Is this constant swapping eating my battery?
Have a look at this thread:

It seems to deal with your issue.

So, I just ran a speedtest on T-mobiles LTE network with my new Note 3, and I am VERY impressed!
32Mbps Down and almost 18Mbps up
Color me jealous. I don't have T-Mobile LTE where I am, only HSPA. They do list a couple of cities in my state that have LTE, but I'm not really near them at all. Hopefully they'll expand out quickly!

That is pretty impressive. where are you located?
I don't know why, but with my S4 and Note 3 HSPA (4G) I get 27 down and 9 up on average, but on LTE I only get 13 down and 12 up. HSPA seems to be a little faster here in Tampa, Florida than LTE. T-Mobile's HSPA is capable of 42 MBPS and so are the phones. So i keep my phone set at hspa instead of LTE. I also get 4 to 5 bars of signal on 4G and only 1 or 2 on LTE which might explain the speed difference
Just did a test outside near a tower. I got 22 down and 11 up. Pretty decent.

I think they are testing LTE in the Louisville, Kentucky area. LTE hasn't offically been announced, but I'm connected to LTE with 2 bars. I got 9.78 down and 3.34 up which isn't great. On HSPA+ I got 7.15 down and 1.30 up with full bars.

Southern Nevada. 31.54 down & 18.5 up. 55 ping.
Just pulled 30ms, 25.5 down, 1.15 up in my 1st floor APT where Sprint barely gets a 3G signal. Needless to say, I'm happy with my change of carrier

The more I run Speedtest, the faster it gets Also, I've used about 500MB worth of data through Speedtest... So this is what it's like to have a usable data network, eh? I'm loving it! DIAF, Sprint
Wow that great speed. In what area of the country are you?

Im really jealous lol im on the sprint slow network lol is anyone from Miami that could show me if miami has some good decent speeds im thinking of going to tmobile today and try them out for 15 days see how coverage and speeds are in Miami.

South Seattle. Getting around 20 at my house in Renton and averaging around 20 elsewhere around Seattle. Sorry about the huge pic. Posted it with my phone. Don't know why I was locked in on a server in KS
N3 with T-mobile in NoCal
This is the best I could get here in Hawaii.. Apparently the nearest server is 3500 miles away.

I would keep it on LTE and GSM. If you keep it on LTE only, you will not be able to make or receive calls. If you keep it on LTE/GSM only, then if a call comes in it will switch to GSM.

You're just in a bad spot.. (unless it does it no matter where you go). If that's the case maybe LTE hasn't really been fully deployed in your area and you're just getting the outskirts of an LTE zone. I get 2 bars of LTE at my house and it fluctuates from LTE to 4G depending on lots of factors. But once outside it stays on LTE 2-full bars
