Moving apps is not working - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 4

Hi,
I've read about Android having a new update (a while now) allowing apps to be moved to your External SD.
I got a 16GB SD card, but I can not find the button 'Move to SD'.
Also, when I'm using apps like App2sd it says my device is not compatible therefor the apps cannot be moved.
Some help please?
Thanks!

Did you get the update? And if so what country are you in?

Updates aren't available over the air or in PC Companion. If you don't mind losing all your user data (SD card = safe) you can update with Wotanserver. I flashed Generic Germany on my Neo and it is wonderful!
Do you need unlocked bootloader for WotanClient use?
EDIT: Found the answer, which is "do not update with unlocked bootloader"
I always liked German language.
France has the update too.
That worked fine over Wotanclient. New phone setup is already awesome
Seems Neo did not got zoom for camera.
But it seems to have formatted my SDcard as well. I had ext2 and swap partitions and only 6,30 GB of normal Fat partition. Now back to 7,40. I actually was looking for a way to get rid of the ext2 partition on it...

Zoom works fine on my Neo. Try the volume keys in the camera app. It's not real zoom though, just a crop.

De La Vega Root Question

Does the De La Vega root method survive an OTA update. If I have a stock 4.3 T-Mobile Note 3, which I rooted with this method, will Root survive the OTA process? If so, can I just take the T-Mobile OTA, or should I use an alternate method?
I want to preserve my knox status for retail purposes, and don't want to use CF-Root to trip it. The thread is unclear, wondering if someone can confirm.
Thanks
I'm sorry but I personally have answered this 5 or 6 times. .. so here it is again. .. If you update you will lose root and there is no 0x0 knox method atm...It's only been a day so I'm sure someone is working on it. ...

Funny, i asked the same question in another thread.. i wasn't able to get a clear answer either.
I have exact setup as you. are you going to take the OTA?
frankly, i am more comfortable taking OTA so i dont have to wipe and reset - and then wait for a knox 0x0 root method to come along.
i dont want to go through odin and wipe out all my stuff.. OTA seems cleanest to keep all my things intact.
what are you going to do?

I just plan on waiting. Phone works well with 4.3 and root, don't want to go to 4.4.2 without root, and don't want to trip my Knox.

I had the sane thing as you but took the plunge. ..I hate not having root right now but this is the best rom I have ever used. .. It's way better than 4.3.... And you might have to update with kies because people stated that the update failed with the OTA when rooted. But I just went straight for kies and it works perfectly and it doesn't erase any of you information...4.4.2 smooth as silk after it settles and the wifi, data signal, keyboard changes and gps is great. ..

Oh. thats very interesting.. so i can do Kies and not lose any data ? didnt realize that..
do you have the problem that requires the External SD Card write fix, that rooted people are having to use?

That is not a problem. It is a feature that was built into Kit Kat specifically to make the system read from the internal storage for faster and smoother device. What we are doing on the root side is just a way for people with class 10 sdhc cards to be able to utilize their cards.
BTW. Sorry your question did not get answered. The Q&A for the update was moved to the general section instead of this one, so i've been missing alot of Q&A actual questions.

You can use any Google native app to write to the external card... like the gallery or the my files app. ... Any 3rd party app will not be able to do so. .. like Samsung camera saves pics to the ex card but all other cameras have to save to internal card. ... And ex file will say card is read only but the my files app that comes with the update writes just fine. ...
Once rooted there is a fix for this. .. But I'm waiting for the 0x0 root

I'm sorry I mean no disrespect, but what are you talking about? Breaking third party access to SD card is a feature?
And BTW yours is 3rd explanation for this mess, I heard security concerns and some other nonsense before, but to speed the device is a new one and biggest BS so far. How is SD card any concern for Google, since none of their current devices have SD card to begin with?
And as already mentioned the fix requires root and root breaks the Knox warranty on Samsung phones, so it's not an option for many.
If the speed was a reason for this so called "feature", how come all apps that come with firmware have access to SD card already, negating so called "feature" out of the box? Only third party apps that user may or may not install later are broken.
And how come the fix is not an option in the menu, available to all users, but requires root?
Sorry, but Google sabotaged SD card access on purpose to push people to their cloud services, that is the only logical explanation and this is not the first time they did that.

Should allow root without tripping Knox. You need Mobile Odin Pro to get this to work, and the bootloader posted in the thread above. Will be doing this tonight when I get home

[Q] URGENT - Noob question about sygic, rooting and the kit Kat update?

Hi all,
Thanks for taking the time to read my thread. This morning I updated to kit Kat and now I just opened sygic. It says sd card access denied. So I searched it up and it turns out that I need to root my phone to change some settings as kit Kat prevents writing to the SD card I think. Is there a way without rooting my phone?
Even if need to root my phone, does rooting void my warranty? And can I get future updates via Ota /Sony pc companion?
This is really urgent because I need to use sygic over the weekend. (Stupid mobilicity doesn't have coverage in Waterloo!)
Thank you!

Rooting might Void your warranty also depends upon the method you use to root. yes you can get future updates as long as you are in stock rom OTA or PCC.
I see only two possibilities: root or install sygic to internal storage. There is might also third possibility for you, it works with iGo navigation, put sygic to internal storage and maps to SD card.
Thanks for the replies.
If I install sygic to my phone's storage, it doesn't need root right? And my phone is running out of space. Any recommendations for a app to sd app?
Thanks!

[Q] Phone not recognizing SD card

I've just bought a G3 D855 and it doesn't appear to recognize any SD card's that I insert. Don't know whether there is a knack to plugging it in but I've tried 2 now, including a brand new one. It's just not showing up in the storage as the options to mount/unmount are greyed out. Any ideas how to resolve this ?
Kind Regards

One of the cards came straight from my Z1, which worked fine. The other card is brand new, never been used.
When I received the phone yesterday it was rooted. I've now installed a stock ROM which should be a UK version. Do you, by any chance, have the link to the UK version for the 3 network, if there is one.

I would just flash the Stock UK .KDZ file from here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2785089 + http://storagecow.eu/index.php?dir=Xda/LG+G3/Stock/
Get the one called UK16G D85510A unless you have the 32GB model and also format the SDcards to Fat32 before putting them into the phone!
Format the card to Fat32. Best compatibility by far (but max filesize of course will be <4GB).

I also use my, 64GB Fat32 formatted, card for the same purpose. No problems as the TWRP Nandroids are split into <4GB segments
