I have a question about the process of moving back to 4.1.2 from 4.2.2
I was Testing the latest MIUI v5 build bu team noob and I flashed back to stock rooted MC2.
After booting MC2 I went to recovery and flashed the ZIP from the CM10.1 thread to downgrade back to 4.1.2
Now I have duplicate data in sdcard and data/media and I also have a folder 0
Should I just delete the 0 folder and the data/media folder or will that break the files in the sdcard folder?
Thanks in Advance!
I deleted the 0 folder after I transfered everything in it I needed. Hasnt been a problem.

Did you do anything with the data/media folder?
I have 2 of everything right now

Lol I was nevvveerr aware of this. Did this JUST started happening for galaxy note 2? Never flashed aosp since almost every Google phone out there has it and really ain't that appealing as the TW UI. But back in the HTC days I never had to flash a zip in order to boot up back on sense UI. How wieerd what happens if you download an aosp ROM and just wipe everything and flash a TW ROM???

This started when they updated the base to 4.2.2
Since there are no 4.2.2 TW roms for our device it only shows up in aosp based roms

I always odin back when I install aosp roms, that way I know all the partitions are the way they are supposed to be.

The directory structure has changed as of Jelly Bean 4.2.

Is any way how to change it back? Can I revert back to stock 4.0.4 and fix it that way? Thanks for the reply.

I guess it has to do with 4.2 using symbolic links and 4.1.2 using hard links.

Thesingle 0 stucture is rhe new file structure. If you're getting multiple nested 0 folders you need to update your custom recovery to prevent that from happening again.
If done properly, you should one and only one 0 folder. Best bet is to: pull all the files from your sdcard, get the latest recovery version, delete your nested 0 folders, then restore your sdcard data.
Easiest way overall: update recovery, backup sdcard, format internal storage, reboot, restore sdcard.

If I flash a aosp rom or non touchwiz will anything get screwed up if I restore a backup or go back to a touchwiz rom?

You are ok with backup
The only issue after backup is that everything will end up in a folder named 0 inside SD cards. All sorts of critical stuff inside like S Notes, etc..
If you go back to 4.1 after CM10.1, then flash the restore-sdcard-after-downgrade.zip to get everything back in place. The file can be found in the OP below.

Jellybean has a different file structure than older TW ROMs
Using a Root Browser, look for a 0 folder, you may have the emulated storage bug.
To fix the emulated storage bug:
Full Wipe, and format internal SD, after copying your files to your computer so you can move them back after getting to JB
Yeah I know of this. Any way to avoid it though?

It's leftover from either an old recovery, the TW file system, or both...
Upgrade your recovery to the latest
Full wipe, Including format Internal
Have the ROM and gapps on the external so you can reflash
I need to revert to 4.1 I am currently on 4.2. Can I just nandroid back after a clean wipe or do I need to reformat the sd card back to exfat, then flash the 4.1 rom?

Best way is to use ODIN. Then you dont have to fuss with partitions and /0 folders
Agreed....
Odin. ...with the factory build. ..g
So it's just like rooting again or what?

You can Odin push either a factory non-rooted build. ...
Or you can flash a rooted build also. ..
Personal preference really. ..
But do use Odin. ...as changing framework between 4.1 and 4.2 can give you issues without a fresh start. ..
If you go pure stock. ..you would need to run CF auto root again. ..
And you are guaranteed a clean restore to 4.1...g
I have flashed most roms on here, I have gone back and forth from 4.2.2 to 4.1.2 and back again many many times. I never have any issues. Just flash the zip in the op of the cm10.1 thread the is for going back to 4.1.2 from 4.2.2

While I agree that the "just flash it" method has a good chance of success. ..it's no guarantee. .
The dirty flash method should not be used unless stated by the creator of any particular build or modification. ..
The note 2 section is overflowing with device issues caused by improper flashing techniques. ..and to suggest dirty flashing, especially between frameworks is unwise. ...imho
Folks can flash how they like. ..but for me. ..it's full wipes and ensuring a clean device. ..g
I'm not saying to dirty flash, I'm just saying I have never odined back to stock just to go back to a 4.1.2 rom from a 4.2.2 rom. I always clean flash, even going from different touchwiz roms.

Thanks. Back to 4.2

So I'm trying to install aosp..and my storage gets all messed up after. Something to do with different partitions. It says its empty but all I have is 2 gigs available.
I fix it by flashing a tw ROM then my storage shows up again and I can flash a nandroid.
How do I flash aosp without my storage becoming invisible? This has never happened before when I flashed aosp. My usual method to downgrade is flash a tw ROM then the restore SD card file. Idk what to do lol

I've always just moved the "0" folder contents back to internal storage after going back to TW...then deleting the duplicates...
After that I delete the "0" folder...then the legacy and obb folders...
Back to normal after that...
Your lost space issue is unique...and I've never seen that happen on my device before...g
