Hello everybody,
I am help a friend with her 4G Slide. I have no experience in this phone, I have Samsung's. so I am very familiar with rooting etc. Ok the phone boots up, I can use the volume rocker and hear sounds, I see the black lit letters on the keyboard and the slider. Is there anything I can do? Is this a common? Worst case would to replace the screen, so if that is the case can someone point me where I can get this and any video instructions will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for y'alls help
Brad
First off this is the 3G slide forum, not the 4G forum. Try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1919588 or this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1744921 if this info doesn't fix your problem try searching your problem with Google. This has been addressed before.

Sorry for the delay getting back. I am messing around with a 3G not a 4G...my bad...
anyways. I replaced the LCD Screen and Digitize and still blank, the phone turns on, I get the TMO Jingle, the back light works on the keyboard and home keys, and I get a flashing green LED at the top. So could the ribbon cable be bad?? or is there anything else I can do first before buying the cable.
Any and all information will be greatly appreciated.
Ciao~

Today i tried answering the phone. i pulled it out of my pocket and noticed that no matter where and how i touch it, it will not do anything to the interface.
- So eventually i hard reset the bugger.. no effect
- Then i flashed the latest ROM.. no effect
- Hardware keyboard still works
What the hell could be wrong?
anyone have any ideas? it is really annoying
You might have a disconnected cable on your digitizer, or maybe even a cut cable/non-functioning screen.
You could try to open it to check, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Just bricked my HTC Polaris, following a craptastic disassembly guide posted here on XDA (and thus bought a TP2 to compensate for being so dumb)
If you do open it (please resist the urge), don't fiddle with the cables.
just wondering if anybody here has experienced issues with the phone application and if there is a fix available...I've had my desire z for almost a month now, and for some reason once I attempt a phone call, I can't press the end call button. Also, at times, when I get a phone call, no matter how many times I press "accept", it doesn't work....I don't know if this is a bug, because sometimes it works properly and other times, it won't....It also happens while screen is in power saver mode....if I get a call, I cant unlock the screen to answer a call....please HELP!!!
Are you rooted and running a custom rom?

This might not help you, but I had a problem very similar to this, and it turned out to be because of my screen protector. Don't ask me why, it was fine most of the time, but when I was receiving a call I couldn't answer it most of the time. Replacing the screen protector with a different type fixed the problem for me !
It's a long shot, but if you are using a screen protector, try peeling the bottom up and seeing if you can answer by pressing on the screen itself.
Hi guys...thanks for replying....
steviewevie...that sounds weird, but I'll give it a try, although it still doesn't answer my question on why it sometimes works, and other times it does not....thanks anyway...
utorrent....I'm not sure...how do I find out? I'm using the rom that originally came with the phone....you have any suggestions on which rom I should use to fix the problems?
Thanks guys!
A few days ago I succesfully (at least I thought so..) flashed my Desire to Cyanogenmod 7 using Amon-ra and it worked perfectly, until today out of nowhere my screen is black with a couple of white lines from top to bottom. One minute it worked as normal, and a couple of minutes later when I pressed the top button to unlock it, the screen was all weird. The touch functions of the screen seem to work as normal, I can unlock the screen, shut it down, power it up, enter my pin etc (blindly) but I see only the vertical lines so it's hard to check what's going on. I do see that the lines "move" when something changes on the screen, like when I unlock it, I see that the screen does react on it, but only some lines appear, move or disappear. For the rest, the sound works as normal when I turn op the volume, as does the vibrating.
I have a PVT4 S-on (thats all I remember) if it makes any difference.
Picture is from a camera, not a screenshot. Looks a bit yellow or so but the background is black, and the lines are white.
Does anyone know what it caused and what I can do to fix it? Maybe reset it or reflash it someway?
Many thanks in advance!!
Where's the picture?
You might want to give HTC a ring.

Hm I forgot the picture, my friend len posted a link for me, for Im not yet able to do that cauz Im a nub
Thx len!
Yeh, send it to HTC or your carrier. It looks so ****ed
Well, sending it back and profiting from my insurance is my last option cuz I wont have it back for at least a month. Does anyone know what it could have caused or what could be a way to solve this highly annoying thing? I can't imagine that it is a hardware problem that occured this sudden... And the screen is reacting to my input but it only shows the frikkin lines! So I hope that it is a software problem. I just have no idea how to solve it, so thats why I'm asking the pro's on this forum
And btw, if I'm sending it back I need to make sure that they don't find out of the custom software on my device. That leaves me only two options I quess, fixing it or completely smashing it... So if someone at least knows how to use a RUU or something via my PC (without having to use the screen of my desire), your help is very much appreciated!!!

Ohh yeah thats helpful; i am sure he did not think to contact htc himself
That picture recalls bad experience with my ex Nokia 5800xm. I had to replace display.
Maybe it is not same case but it looks same.
I have exactly the same problem, flashed cm7 on my desire a few months ago.
Worked all fine.
Then yesterday all of a sudden i had a black screen with white lines.
Maybe you, puntchiel, have found any sollution?
I'm sorry Hanswurst, I had my ensurance company pick up my device and they replaced the screen, so I asume it was a hardware problem. I wish I could help you buddy. Good luck with it!
Screen won't turn on at all. Tried to boot into recovery and normal boot. It started showing signs of failure last week when it looked all red tinted. Occasionally it would go out and I had to restart to get it back. This time it won't come back on.
Any help is appreciated.
Thx.
Is your LED on when you attempt to power up? It sounds pretty damaged, I imagine you tried to pull the battery for a few?
This happened to my computer this past weekend Good thing I have some ROMs and backups on my phone

Can you boot into download mode by volume down + power? Im sure youve tried, but just asking..hate it when something like this happens to anyone
Tried the volume Up + pwr and down + pwr.
When I boot I can see the status LED, as well as the 4 homescreen buttons light up. just no screen

I know it sucks but it does seem to me at least that you should be to take that to a sprint service center and get an exchange for that issue..sorry man..that really does suck and i wish i could help more
I'm guessing no sound either?
sound is good actually.
Sounds like the screen died. I agree try and take it to a service center.

from what I've come to understand, sprint doesn't have a problem with rooting and will/should not give you any problems for that. they may fuss about a custom rom if you have one, but if the screen is broken they can't really tell and that is an obvious hardware failure, not something software could have done
You could also take it apart to see if the display cable somehow simply became unattached should sprint for whatever reason refuse to service it...

I replaced my digitizer yesterday since i broke my screen, everything went nicely, the screen responds as it should, but i noticed 1 issue which bugs me. When i make a call the screen goes completely dark(as if i was holding the phone to my ear). I cant press any buttons while making a call so i cant hang up. This happens on any rom(tried going back to 10k stock, bountyman's 4.6.4 and 4.6.1) with the same result. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I think you got covered proximity sensor.re assemble and see
