[Q] Best kernel for sense 4 based rom? - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Have a inspire 4g running on StrikeX, a sense 4.1 rom. The battery life is just completely terrible. I went down over half of my battery in only 2 hours! What is a good kernel that the battery life is better with?

Samsung Galaxy s3 Roms

Is there a specific place where all roms are stored in this forum? And can anyone suggest some great battery , speed roms.
Thankyou
The subsections labeled "android development" and "original android development" house the threads containing custom ROMs for our S3s.
Every phone is slightly different. So what gets good battery for me probably won't for you. You just gotta try it.

So far I've had good experiences with both the AOKP and LiquidSmooth roms. Good performance and battery life. Then again, I had pretty good battery life with the stock rom as well.
As for roms i would suggested just reading up on them, reading the threads seeing what people are saying about it about the battery life, speed, bugs, etc. Maybe try and find a video review and then decide if that rom's for you because there's a lot and a good amount do have good battery life and performance.

Best ROM for battery/speed

What is the absolute best ROM for battery and speed? It's a very simple question.
There's a million ROMS to choose from, AOSP vs. TW roms and all that, but just give me your top 3 ROMS and I'll do my best to flash them.
And by speed, I just mean no lag, and by battery, I mean extended life (with greenify, and DS battery saver and all that).
I've already tried Deviant Xone but I'm having 3G issues.
THANKS!

It's up to you to find which one works the best for you. These personal opinion questions with no answer really anger the moderators. But I really liked AOKP. It got good battery life and had good performance. I just prefer TW ROMs to AOKP/AOSP. Liquid smooth was appealing, but it had a lot of bugs for me.
1. Freeza's Deodexed Stock MD4
2. Chemistry ROM (Wait until they update it to MD4 base though) It's currently 4.1.1 with multiview.
3. AOKP

anyone else have a top 3?
No there isn't. Just try them all. Devs here put amazing time and effort into each rom that gets put out. There isn't a best one. They all are absolutely amazing.

Samsung ROM vs. Stock Kit Kat vs. CM11

Just switched from Nexus4 to Galaxy S4, being able to add extended battery and SD card were the deciding factors over Nexus5.
Trying to decide which ROM I should go with. Considering Stock Kit Kat or CM11, or staying with Default provided by Samsung.
I'm familiar with the feature differences between the 3 ROMs.
Which of the 3 currently offers best overall experience/performance, stability & battery life.
Thanks!

I personally run Gummy ROM at the moment. It is cm11 with added features. I love the stock kit kat experience with a few added features so that's why I chose gummy. As far as stock touchwiz we have a love hate relationship. I love the stock camera because nothing compares to its features and clarity but unfortunately it is on available on stock ROM. Also I love the watch on app that uses IR to control TV and cable. Their are alternative apps to use IR for kit kat but none compare to watch on. But besides those two features I hate the slowness, ui colors, DPI, and just about everything else about touchwiz. If only we could have those two featured on kit kat ROMs. Any how I would suggest trying all options for yourself and deciding. It really boils down to personal preference and what you use your phone for most.

Sigh....threads like this are not permitted on XDA. This is wa standard 'rom comparison' thread and they are not allowed at all.
The reason is because there is no answer to which one is better or have a better experience or battery life.
All of those questions depend on you and your use and your taste. The rom I love the most that gives the best battery life for the way I use the phone may be the worst possible combination for you.
The ONLY way to decide what the best rom for YOU is is to try them out and test a couple and get an idea of what is best FOR YOU.

Hey skipjacks, to be fair the user only has 6 posts so he is obviously new to the community here. I am a long time member here and am aware of the avoidance of threads such as these but it is kind of an unspoken rule. As a new user assuming he or she read the forum rules this is not listed any where there. Maybe a mod can see this and suggest adding it to the rules as I agree these threads never end well but let's not beat the person up lol.

Who's beating anyone up?
I said these threads aren't allowed. Then politely explained why.
If you're coming from a nexus 4 go with GPE Roms . Add xposed framework and gravity box module and you'll never look back. Fast, snappy, stable and as close to AOSP as it'll get. You can even have your navigation bar to save those hardware keys.
For the reasons mentioned above, this thread is closed.
Users need to read and make their own determinations as to what it is they desire.

My thought would be that you should move this thread to Q/A thread.
This thread is for development
No idea about the kernel as I don't use oos4
Blu_spark or ElementalX

Kernels are development - this is where users come to get them, and seeing 5-6 different ones doesn't offer a comprehensive comparison, so this thread would serve as that. You read this, and then pick the kernel - all in one place.. But if mods think it should be moved please move it i don't know how
No such thing as a best kernel since everyone uses their devices differently and has different apps installed. Definitely not the place for this forum.

Try all of them, there is no such best. I can say there is a minor difference between Franco, Bluspark, Ex kernel etc. They all cherrypick(not sure it this is the right word) each other and make slight modifications and that makes kernels unique, I had a good experience with Xceed, Render and Franco.
EX Kernel For sure
There is no answer to your question. Best kernel for me may be the worst one for you
Personally, I think this isn't even a legit question as there many variables, such as personal likes and dislikes and desired goals. Some people would rather have a kernel for speed, while others may want increased battery life and yet others may want a little of both. I guess the answer is whichever one you like best.
Useless thread...
There is no best kernel.
You chose a kernel which fits best to your needs.
This is just like asking "whats the best color?"
This thread likely needs to be moved to Q&A.
That being said, I myself would really appreciate some input on pros and cons of well known kernels kind elemental X and Franco vs the stock OOS kernel, since performance isn't something that needs improving IMO on this device. What and how other benefit is there?
Like I said it is all subjective, but if you take the time to read, the information is listed by the OP
You could give the moxie kernel by bedalus a try. He implemented a nice feature where you can set a threshold to make your battery charge to a certain percentage. This is because, if you always charge your phone to 100% the battery degrades quicker.

Lol I liked this "what's the best color?"
I think you people should try Ex . Been using Ex for a while and it seems quite stable.
People say Blusparks is good but for me it was never , maybe its just me.
My sig normally is always updated with a setup working fine on a semi business phone. franco.Kernel is rock solid and the BEST SOT!

Looking for a rom

Hi guys i know this is NOT the rom section, but is a question and i think the thread belongs here
i'm looking for a custom rom with these features
- extended battery life (mine is awful with the stock rom)
- increased brightness under sunlight
- smoothness (i hate the lag of the pixel)
is there a rom with these features? thank you
This is not a forum where you're spoon-fed information. You have to try a rom/kernel and see what you like. Or at the very least read each description.

This thread has links to Custom ROMS: [Guide] Pixel 3 XL Android 9.0 (Pie) Unlock/Root/Install Images/Kernels/Recovery + by homeboy76
You can read their features list in their OP (Post 1).
Wow.. spoon fed. Asking for user feedback seems like an appropriate use of the questions section of the forum, no? Every rom claims great battery and smoothness.. what's wrong with a little user input?
