1st i want to say that ATT told me that LG didnt put the water sticker on the 1st 1000 pro's that were shipped out. So they couldnt tell if it was due to water . lol even though it wasnt ....was due to a dumb app....
anyways.. bricked the phone try flash and bunch of other things no work i was so frustrated plus wanted to see how warrenty worked after 14 days... soo ATT is sending a new one and I only have to pay 14.95 for 2 day shipping and 4-6 days would have been free.

My wife used to work for AT&T warranty service and that was the first question they asked people: "Please remove the back cover and look at the AT&T logo inside. Is it red, pink, or white?" If someone said red or pink, then it was water damage and not covered. You'd be surprised at how many people would hang up, then call back five minutes later, say it was white, and be positively shocked to learn their previous call had been logged. Oops.

LOL! Thats a good one! But some reps wont read the logs :
I don't think it matters as even when you send the phone back and they see the red sticker they will send you right back to same phone with the red sticker and tell you your not covered....tried it a while back with a HTC Tilt2.....,does anybody remember those? lololol

Just got up, and didn't realise that My beloved Desire was on the floor, stood on it with my heel and it broke!! Literally just now!
It has a clockworkmod and it is rooted with NeoPhyTe 5.0.
Is there any way of unrooting without using the screen?!
When I turn it on it has lots of little green dots and sometimes lines... so is it possible?! please answer quick!!
Turn it on, wait for it to 'boot up' and then run the RUU your ROM came with...be it Vodafone or WWE
If that doesn't work cause you can't select HTC Sync yu may have to try and find the official ZIP file for your handset and try running that...

if your claiming on you're insurance your is not affected by the software as you are claiming for physical damage not a warranty issue
except It didn't have insurance, my sister just activated it back again and am waiting another 40 days to not make it suspicious, "It got stolen!" cheers guys!
but I am still gonna miss it during the waiting period! ;/

nope, broke my nokia twice already and got 2 new devices instead of them fixing it, as they were both hacked and has a custom ROM (bricked them both, My first try at it!)
I know its nor really fair, but then again think of the goverment...
Hmm insurance fraud...
My thoughts exactly. You broke the phone by not taking care of it. Deal with it, buy a new one and put it under normal insurance for accidental damage.

I'm as well not a fan of insurance fraud, and you could get in trouble, but well i shouldn't care, but i was wondering why the hell you would want to replace the firmware with the original then, as it makes no difference? So why the original question?
And so all our premiums go up.

Indeed - it's this sort of thing that really annoys me.
Insurance "works" because most of the people who pay their premiums don't claim. When you get people like the OP, who take out insurance after the fact because they need to claim, it just makes it so much more expensive for those of us who aren't perpetrating insurance fraud!
Regards,
Dave
Yes, I don't know what's thicker. Standing on your phone, claiming insurance within such a short period of taking it out (you'll be on a watchlist), or writing about it on here.
Take your pick, you're a **** whichever way you look at it.

So yeah, i dropped my Evo and I have a cluster of dead pixels now. Really noticeable on a white background. My question is, does sprint repair the screen or do I have to pay a deductible for a new phone? I had my phone less than a year, but i just got a free replacement phone about a month ago because of a faulty charger port (not my fault).

How many dead pixs? If you have insurance you should be good just tell them your pixles started dying don't tell them you dropped it. If you say you dropped it they will tell you it is cosmetic issue and won't wanna fix it unless you ***** lol then they will You should be good to go get it fixed man,

If there isn't any significant damage to the frame of the phone I don't see how they could tell you no. The phone is under warranty for a year and dead pixels should be covered under that.
Yup just take it in lol you have nothing to worry about man.
Kool beanz. Ill unroot and go there tomorrow and see what they tell me.
So the cable between the screen and keyboard that is exposed on the G2 is bent and the touch screen no longer works.
It bent over a period of time. It would always make a click and i thought it was normal. I guess it wore out and bent all the way inward causing the touchscreen to no longer work.
Would repair be covered by HTC warranty?
Since the cable is exposed.. would this be a common problem that affects a small percentage of users? NOPE.. I GUESS IT WAS JUST ME.. I don't know about you guys but that cable being exposed is kind of scary.. so handle with a lot of care!!
Edit: Called HTC and they said my unit is still covered by warranty until about the end of the year so as long as it is not user error, missing void sticker, or unauthorized software.. warranty should cover it.
Would the bent cable be cause of user error? Apparently since the cable is exposed, HTC most likely will decide it is a design flaw or faulty unit because the ribbon cable was never aligned like other G2's i had seen.
BTW.. no T-Mobile warranty so it isn't as easy as going back to T-Mobile and getting it swapped!
I restored to factory settings, Turned S-ON and flashed stock and finally shipped.
Reserved for Final Details!!
Normal use isn't user error. that's only if you treated it improperly.
but if your phone is rooted or has a custom rom, that's going to be a problem
It's stock! COUGH COUGH!!!
Ok well I'm sending it in tomorrow. Will be waiting for HTC's response.
Just got an email that they have sent my G2 back!!!! Repaired or not..
I'm not too sure since i wasn't contacted... meaning either they repaired it because it was still under warranty or they just sent it back unfixed without a single notice! (Which would be really messed up..and horrible Service and also Highly unlikely because they must contact you to charge and authorize a triage fee of 39 dollars to get your unit shipped back unrepaired)
So hopefully HTC fixed it!!! I sent it in on Monday, June 13, 2011. USPS Priority Mail. It got to them yesterday.. because the tracking number said they got it around 9 in the morning. It is now June 16, 2011 and this is what i received in my email! CHECK BELOW
IM HAPPY AS HELL! I was scared/worried that they wouldn't fix it or that they wouldn't return my phone unless i paid the triage fee of $39.
I read so many articles about how crappy and ridiculous HTC Repair Centers are and how long they make you wait..
Until I receive it I will know for sure.
RANT IS OVER....
Here is the email!
Dear Valued Customer,
Thank you for using HTC Repair Services. HTC America is committed to
creating superior products which offer the highest standards of quality,
durability, and reliability.
Your repairs have been completed and your unit has been shipped from our
Repair Center or, if repair options were declined, your unit is being
shipped back without repair.
blah blah blah.. lol well yeah thats enough of my experience. I still haven't received it yet so it is too early to be celebrating.. it should arrive either tomorrow, Monday or the latest Tuesday!
Wow congrats...score 1 for the good guys

I haven't paid anything.. I guess my unit's warranty covered all the expenses
I didn't even have to pay the TRIAGE FEE ($39.00) WHICH THEY SPECIFICALLY SAID I WOULD BE CHARGED IF THE WARRANTY WAS VOID IN ANYWAY OR IF I REFUSED TO PAY THEIR REPAIR QUOTE AND WANTED MY UNIT SHIPPED BACK TO ME UNREPAIRED!!
Maybe an early celebration, but who knows! Maybe the good guys finally win one! Or maybe their repair centers got a lot better which is very likely since they have been selling devices like hot cakes and most of the stories I read were from the middle of 2010. I guess HTC is stepping their game up this year!
Ill cross my fingers for ya
Thanks!
I called HTC Customer Care today, they told me IT HAD BEEN REPAIRED!!!!! OH YEAH!!
They replaced a rigid flex board? Well thats what the lady on the phone told me lol
That my device was diagnosed and repaired yesterday. Also that it was checked once again for quality assurance (fancy term for "HOLD UP.. did I fix this **** right") and shipped back to me The lady also verified that a tracking number was available! Hurray!! It matched up with the one from my email!
Estimated delivery: Tuesday!! I am so excited!
I can't stand using the nokia 2720 flip phone any longer! Texting is a ***** lol

I just got my G2 back due to a busted Mic, it took exactly 10 days for them to repair a mic.... lol. I'm sad that they only fixed the mic.... and nothing extra . Was hoping they would catch the hinge problem, and tighten it up for me :\. But overall the process was smooth. They kept me up to day via Email. Also they updated to Gingerbread lol. Guess it's gunna roll out soon.

Yeah, I was afraid of that happening, but hey its better to not have a root for a while than a broken mic whereas the phone is pointless other than texting lol. Just have to sit tight for a bit for a dev to create a root for Gingerbread. Unless HTC puts the unlock bootloader for the G2 with the update. Its a long shot tho...
I will be getting my phone in the mail tomorrow! Hopefully its on froyo and not gingerbread!! Will update post. In the mean time I will be crossing my fingers!

Okay guys... Well Long story short my phones screen doesn't work anymore.
Long story: I was using my phone like usual and when I was finished I put it in my Pocket. I dIdnt realize I had a credit card in that pocket as well, next thing I know I take the phone out and between the screen and the keyboard is the credit card wedged between. I take it out thinking it'll all be fine but when I slide the keyboard Out I hear what sounds like crumbling paper and I look at the back of the phone and there is this black tape looking thing sticking Out From the phone. And now my screen doesn't come on...
I have no warranty I'm just under the one year. What will I have to pay to get this fixed?
I know on inssurance its free but for a new screen its around 50 but what you describe is like you unattatched the whole top half of the phone almost and you'll need a new phone. =[ I think the paper sound is the connection of the display to the phone board.

I could simple just odin back to stock but Idk why, perhaps the waterdamage.. but odin wont work, itll recognize it sometimes, and when it does itll just check the MD5..
So i cant odin to stock and they can easily tell its rooted..will they refuse to work on it? or should i perma-brick it or something? any ideas lol.. im stuck without a phone for two weeks either way
hopefully we have ICS source by then =P
Water damage isn't covered by the store as part of regular warranty. You'll have to call the insurance company.

Don't report it stolen. They may require a police report.

they will take it apart and find the water markings, and corrosion. lost / stolen would get you the same result... file a claim with Asurion if you have TEP. sprint.com/protection. it's a $100.00 deductible.
also, Sprint does not have a policy against rooted devices. it doesn't matter if it is stock or not.

Just call the insurance company and tell them the truth. You'll have to provide a police report if you report it lost (I believe), and it's a felony to file a false police report.
You don't have to show a police report if it's lost. I know from experience as I did this last month.

Rooting is covered as stated by someone else. The other thing you have to take into account, would running stock have kept the phone from being ruined? Would you have been able to restore it any better? No, you didn't kill it by flashing something. If they give pushback print out the memo that's posted and use my reasoning.
Must be that kind of weekend. My phone got submerged in water yesterday but surprisingly when I took the cover off it seemed pretty dry. Shaking the phone I could hear water so I sat it out in the sun for about 45. Slapped the battery back in and here I sit playing with my phone like nothing happened. How long have you had your phone? Because I'm pretty sure if it's longer than a month they won't replace it for free. So you have to go through the insurance anyways so it shouldn't matter what u say. But if you just got the phone the only thing that sprint looks at right away is a indicator in on your battery that changes color when water damaged.
So if your within your free replacement period buy a battery take it to sprint and tell them it wont boot. And yes I've taken rooted devices so far as to where the sprint rep got it into CWM mod and didn't say a thing. (prob didn't know what it was)
FYI I was still learning how to root and flash so needless to say, it wasn't the first or last phone I got a phone replaced. And they sent me a free replacement no questions asked. but if you can hard brick that would probably be in your favor. And FYI other than water or intentional damage. Samsung has a year warranty on there phones. I know because we just sent my buddy's et4g for the power button sticking. Reason why I don't usually buy insurance.
