Mail to Lg for camera uptade - LG Optimus G (International)

I know little english so excuse me wrongs.
I am turkish and I am using lg optimus g. I send lg mail for camera software update because this phone's camera terrible because of camera software.
If you support, maybe lg take us seriously and publish new update.
Dear Sir/Madam,
LG Optimus G which has still been the one of your most powerful phones is better than other phones in many ways. Unfortunately,
the 13MP camera of the phone is not close to what you said about it and what I expect. It seems that many of other phones with
8MP camera give best results when we compare them. I think that this problem happens because of the software on the phone. Thus I
request an update for the camera of LG Optimus G phones which I also have one of them. I'm sure that many other Optimus G users
also agree with me. Finally, this update will solve the confidence problems with customers about updates.
Please don't forget that Optimus G has a huge customer numbers.
Best regards.

They won't update the camera firmware cause they don't give a crap. It's already good if we get 4.2 one day.

It's better than doing nothing. I sended e-mail too.:good:

I had sent lots of mail to those people but still they didn't reply me fr some of those...!!

Great idea, getting them to know is step one, flooding them is the next step!
I have already sent them a couples of emails concerning this, I intend to call them eventually (when I get the time)
Anyway, great idea, we sould all follow it and get LG to aknowledge this.

There seems a software bug on camera app regarding its color reproduction. But I find that if scene mode is switched to sunset the pic quality and the contrast levels are enhanced considerably.... I select sunset mode everytime and the results are far better.....

Why not making petition ?
Optimus 4X petition to unlock bootloader, and it success
Petition

A petition is a "passive" way, you don't "disturb" the company and, if they don't care, they still won't!
Email is affectig their staff, their servers, their ressources, they HAVE to react somehow.
Kinda like if you had a noisy car. If you'd have a letter from the "council of neibourg" that "advise" you that the neiboughood didn't liked it, it wouldn't have the same impact as if your neibourgs would go knocking on your door, isn't it?
Also, I was working for a software company some time ago. Most of the rep didn't care to "fix an issue" unless the issue was a "known". If only a couple of instances was occuring "now and then"' it was not treated the same way as if the lines where "flooded" by an issue.
I say flood 'em! Send 'em e-mails, call them, write on their facebook page, get them to know and act.

Petitions works even with LG!
I also own a Lg Optimus 2X, the infamous Tegra 2, first dual core phone.
The huge O2X community made an excellent lobby on every field and finally O2X got the long awaited ICS update.
I remember the hate posts on the LG facebook page, the "I will never buy an LG product" headlines on all the O2X fan blogs.
The request was so loud that even GSMarena noticed it. I must say that the protest was nicely coordinated on the XDA forum and it was, in the end, a huge success for all the LG owners.
I myself involved the Consumer Protection Agency in my country to inspect the false LG claims of "Always updated" of the O2X ad campaign and product packaging.
Never underestimate the crowd power.

[Q] Thinking about buying Optimus G / Nexus ...Hardware quality?

I haven't owned an LG phones in years, and was thinking about purchasing the Optimus G / Nexus. To recent LG device owners, how do you rate the hardware quality of your device, alone or compared to its rivals?

I'll be getting the G early next week so I'll tell you what I think of it after I get it.
LG has had a bad reputation with sales people....software were has been buggy, hardware second rate...though they always push the envelope with tech (thrill 3D, Expo projector...etc) YOU Want TO PUSH THEIR PHONES BUT THEY just screw up on the little things) this phone is different yes still has the stupid quality control issues LG is infamous for but this is an amazing phone. THEY didn't try to be the first out of the gate with some feature...they just tried to improve on everything that a techie wants. Screen check speed check sound check RAM ram ram check check check sd card check fit and finish check check...guarantee this will be the first LG phone really pushed in stores it is awesome...the software and UI need to be fixed in the next two weeks and the keyboard needs a complete overhaul...congrats on making it to the party finally LG

Opinions "Questions and Answers" [UPDATED]

Hi all,
I was patiently waiting for this day to see the announcements of both the nexus 4 and windows phone 8. After watching and reading everything about windows phone 8, I am %99.99999 sure I'm not buying a windows phone for now. I just think it still needs a lot of work done so I can buy it with peace of mind and no regrets. So, now I'm back to my main choices, LG Nexus or LG Optimus G. I was mainly planning on buying the optimus g but when I heard the nexus was already an optimus g "with changes", that changed things. Now all I'm asking are some questions I need answered to buy one or the other with no regrets and will help others too decide which one to pick.
Here is what I think of both devices, please tell me what you think and if anything is wrong I will fix it for anyone else to benefit from it.
Feel free to correct me
I will list what I know in points and put MY opinion in " "
So far I know :
1-That the specs are basically the same except the nexus will not have LTE for the moment. "I know that is not a deal breaker for me, Choosing Nexus"
EDIT: Nexus 4 has LTE and can be activated using this trick
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uh-5erQpwuc&feature=related
2- The software updates from LG is not will maintained. "from experience, yes it is not, but still will choose Optimus G"
3- LG Optimus G comes with several Functions while Nexus 4 will come with stock Android software. "No brainer for me, Optimus G"

Thanks ashirviskas.
"there are actually substitutes for some of the apps provided by LG in google play store you can look for them in there or in the replies by ashirviskas on this thread"
4- LG Optimus G is WAY more expensive than Nexus 4. "16 GB for $349.00 , pretty sweet deal. Nexus 4"
Snow_fox said:
#4 can be incorrect. Nexus 4 is 350$ but, since I have an upgrade the Optimus G will be 200$ cheaper.
And being totally honest, the Optimus G is basically a boot loader away from being the "better deal." Since with an unlocked boot loader it gets 4G + more storage + cheaper on contract.
The problem here is that there is no guarantee on the boot loader. It can go either way and that sucks.

Apparently, AT&T will be offering a white version and a black one, yet the web only price is somehow cheaper than calling or picking up from the store. thanks to 2003vstrom
5- LG Optimus G has a model with sd card slot while no sd card slot on Nexus 4. "LG Optimus G for sure"
6- Nexus network is UNLOCKED while LG Optimus G has several providers and will surely be LOCKED. "Nexus all the way"
7- The design of both devices is great."but I would choose Nexus design"
8- LG Optimus G has 2 different models, 1 with 13MP camera and 1 with 8 MP camera. Nexus 4 has 8MP camera "I would choose 13MP to be honest"
Zackhery said:

I figure you already know this but. The different ones are carrier locked. The 13MP is Spring and 8MP is At&t. This could effect you also depending on your carrier because if At&t then camera will be the same no matter what.

I didn't mention these differences. Thanks Zackhery
9-LG Optimus G has no unlocked international version so far. In the US it is only provided by sprint and at&t with each having it's unique version."It is annoying thinking about which to pick from them the 2 beat each other in some aspects and lose in others"
10- Nexus has a wireless charging while LG Optimus G doesn't. "Not a big deal for me I would still use normal charger " thanks to ashirviskas for making a note on that
That's all I can come up with for now, Please comment and be reasonable. I don't want any fights about which is better than the other because there clearly isn't one, but others' opinions helps me decide which to pick and helps readers do too.
Thanks to anyone that responds to this threads.
Note: If this thread is in the wrong place I would love it if a mod can move it to it's rightful place, thank you.

I'm coming from an Xperia x10, so it's likely that I would be impressed with any new phone. So far I love the device. I played with a note 2 (about 10 min each on 2 different occasions) before making the purchase. The OG is much smother, feels quicker & feels more "substantial" in my hands. Battery life after 1 day hasn't been great but that's mostly due to my email sw for work eating up a huge amount of battery. I changed the settings to only sync with the email server on an hourly basis during no peak time & battery usage rate has been cut in half. I'm still playing with all of the settings, but so far there are some nice options to customize the look, esp considering the fact that its a locked phone.

After owning the thing for a couple of days and working with some of the developers trying (with some success already) to open it up, my opinion is that the OG is going to be the equal of the Nexus ... only with LTE and much bigger storage.
I felt like I was taking a chance by getting it on the first day, but I'm feeling very good about that decision now.

I have the LG L01E red version. It came in just a few hours ago so I can't tell very much yet.
I will tell a few things about the camera and overall performance. ( Note: I came from a galaxy s3 therefore I will make a few comparisons with it:cyclops:.)
Camera:
The camera is 13mp and has a lot gimmicks like voice shutter, time catch shot etc.. The gimmicks are nice but it will slow the camera down in making pictures. The galaxy s3 was faster in taking and processing the pictures although the difference isn't that big.
Settings are also highly customizable as you expect from most devices nowadays. You'll find standard setting like; whitebalance, storage, ISO and that kind of stuff.
And now the most important thing: Picture quality.
To be honest... I'm actually quite disappointed with the picture quality.:crying:. Most of the pictures I took were kinda hazy. Many details are blurry. But I think this is a software issue because I've seen other lg optimus g devices with much better camera quality. There is another bad thingy about the camera which is the autofocus. It just keeps autofocussing automatically. Normally you would have to press a button to focus before it starts to take a picture but now it just keeps going focussing continously. (custom rom yay)
The front cam is simply crap. There's is a lot of noise.
For a flagship I'm kinda dissapointed with the cam but let's move on to the overall performance.
Overall performance: Is basically as you would expect of a s4 pro. It's like a exynos quadcore on steroids.
Transitions between launcher and apps are almost instantly, srolling is smooth, browsing, zooming are working without any lag.
Watching video's is a pleasure on the screen.
This phone beats the s3 in overall performance without a doubt.
I can't say anything about the battery performance yet. This phone has a 2210mah battery in it. But I guess the battery performance will be average.
On a sidenote: this phone only has 2 languages: english and japanese. It also has infrared (why?????) and a long big ass antenna for tv. But the tv function only works in japan sadly.:crying:... Oh and it came with a docking station out of the box.
I'm going to try to root this thing now
If you have any questions, let me know.
EDIT: Rooting failed. I had to hard reset the phone to get it working normally. So don't try the korean/AT&T root methods if you have the LG 01E
thanks for the information, i have one s3 too, and i thinking change for Docomo LG Optimus G L-01E, where you buy your phone?

The phone is awesome! Although I didn't expect phone's dimensions to be this big. But you definitely made a good choice. I hope the devs will help to unleash the real potential of this device in the future.
i also hope for support for the japanese version.. i will be receiving mine this week..hahaha... our problem now is rooting... so we just go for now with simple plaything apps for now.. but yup..for me it is really awesome... i believe this is the only device for now that supports the SDXC format... and the battery as well is replaceable and with more capacity than the international version... but then again..we need XDA support.. but first things first is the help of the LG ADMINS to unlock our bootloaders.. without it..dunno what is our future
cheers to all of us L-01E USERS!!!
I will be receiving mine in about two day in the mail. After all the forums I have been reading thru I honestly have a bad feeling about purchasing this one for the sake of root. I don't think there is gonna be anyone from XDA to jump on ship with the docomo and the fact that the boot loaders are locked makes it even less likely. Ugh!! Should of just went and got the bell version or half kicking myself thinking I should have went with the HTC OneX+. If anyone finds anymore info on the likely hood tho please feel free to PM me.
I also have no hope on support from the community anymore..
But a last resort could be a bounty thread for rooting and/or maybe bootloader unlocking. But even then ........
wish more people will join us
hope root methed for this device come soon

am really disapointed with this optimus g that is fake those 13mpx .. it doesnt mean anything ! it is like cloudy or dusty pictures .. eyes are red or yellow .
Issues with the camera quality are mostly software. You can use another software and It'll be a lot better...
There's also a "fix" in the dev section, could help!
the optimus g is pretty good in outdoor bright conditions, but low light/night/dark, it doesnt focus, very blury, it focuses on nothing, takes a pic, where it should turn the light on, focus, than take a pic
and there is always a foggy to weird type aura to most not so lit pictures. and you have to wipe the lens before taking pictures
Nah, its not even close to S3 even in outdoor
exactly u said it right

Since we know that issue is software related, why don't you all complain to LG, this would, maybe, help it getting fixed...
I have reported the issue before the JB upgrade, but it's still there so I assume nothing was done to fix it
hah repor it to lg .. how? .. and they will ignore if its just one two persons complaining..

Where's this fix? Could you link it? Thanks!

Here's the link for the fix

As for "how to contact LG", I think google can help you with that, search for the LG of your country, in my case, LG Canada
Then, access the site
Then, look for "Support", and "contact us"
Then, contact them the way you want. I prefer e-mail since it can be retraced.
If anyone considering this as an issue contacts them, we will have a bug fis on this. But if you keep thinking it's worthless and "do nothing"', they will assume it's working fine and not do anything.

No they don't.
Don't think companies doesn't take their Customer seriously, they don't.
And don't expect them to fix something when they're not advised of an issue, they won't!
Just do it and get people to do the same, this way you're more prone to get result, more than doing some useless online petitions...

What is the Reason behind this ???

LG G2, the latest flagship Android-based smartphone from South Korean mobile phone maker LG Electronics, is said to be underperforming on the market, falling far behind expectations.
According to the latest reports on the matter, LG has managed to sell only around 600,000 G2 units during the handset’s first four months of availability in its homeland market.
Internationally, the device is selling slowly as well, with less than 2.3 million units said to have been shipped, despite the fact that LG actually aimed at selling over 3 million devices, info coming from Asia Today unveils.
Made official back in summer, the LG G2 landed on shelves with a large 5.2-inch touchscreen display capable of delivering a full HD resolution, while being powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor.Furthermore, the Android-based device features a 13-megapixel camera on the back with support for full HD video recording, as well as a front camera for making video calls.
The high-end smartphone also packs 2GB of RAM inside, the usual set of connectivity options and sensors, and Google’s Android Jelly Bean operating system loaded on top.The handset comes with the power and volume buttons placed on the back, beneath the camera, which should allow faster, more convenient operations, as LG puts it.
All in all, LG G2 is a device that well deserves its current position at the top of LG’s portfolio, despite the fact that sales are not as great as the company had hoped.
As AndroidBeat notes, LG managed to sell 540,000 Optimus G Pro units in South Korea in the first four months following the handset’s launch, which clearly shows that G2 did not manage to help LG gain too much market share.
What remains to be seen is what exactly LG plans on bringing to the market next year, and whether it will be able to attract more users to its side than it did this year.
I am not a mobile market analyst, but I would guess one of the biggest reasons is people being fed up with LG's crappy updates. People iust dont trust them, and dont want to be stuck with a device a couple of OS versions behind the major competition. LG is probably the world's worst OEM, among the big names, in terms of supporting their products. Every time, they release an awesome flagship (no sarcasm here, LG hardware is typicaly top-notch), just to abandon it after one update, if not right away. I just hope they understand this, looking at the sales numbers, an maybe (just maybe) change their retarded approach to updates ...

I think, with all respect in the word, that you say that because optimus g dont recieve an update. In my opinion, many people dont know about their version of android os, or doesn t mather if they recieve an update. Most people , at least in my country, start to think about this, when they need an app that requires for example android 4.0 and they have 2.3. But in a small amount of people there are many that thinks that the software version is very important. Me, you and some people that still around here to see if LG anounce the update.
The g2 didn't sold that much because lg decided to follow samaung's glossy platic pattern instead of going for better materials. They copied samsung and it costed them.also the marketing was not that good. You need an agressive marketing these days. Bottom line, the g2 is underrated and i will buy it anyway soon

No. First of all, I personally don't care much about LG updates, and I bought the OG knowing full well that it will be very much behind, or even won't get updates past 4.1.2 at all (to be seen, I guess). Also, I owned another LG flagship in the past - 2X. ICS update debacle for that phone was quite a drama, trust me... You can also check LG's record on updating other devices. So, no, I am not saying this because I am bitter about OG. It's LG's MO, that's just how it is.
Second, I very much disagree that most people wouldn't care about updates. I think it's quite the opposite.
But again, that's just my unqualified opinion...

At least geek people who know Android well will not buy LG G2 instead they buy nexus 5 or nexus 4. Same internal hardware with 100% Android update. Even plastic samsung maintained good track record of Android update
LG has this issue since start

but we all bought OG at the time nexus 4 was also there na.. Nexus 5 is the reason for G2's sale ???
I believe they released it too fast.
G2 is the 3rd flagship model in one year.
A shop in gront of my house selling G2 for 200$ in case of 2 year contract lol
G Flex is 700$ with contact.
And i bought my OG for 750$ with contract, if i remember correctly

No, most people are not geek, but they asks geeks for their inputs.
Of all the people that asked me, I always recomended they buy the N5 or the S4, the G2 is not worth the difference to get "no support" from the maker.
Even if we rules out the issue with the total lack of updates for the OS, the OG didn't get ANY fixes at all for the other known issue, even if it was reported to them. So, I can not recommend the current flagship for anyone.
My 5 cents = Geeks tell technophobes not to buy LG due to crappy updates, N5 comparatively cheap with guaranteed updates and lastly market saturation

And LG just "sucks" compared to Samsung. Just like how Volvo "sucks" compared to the established Germans like BMW and Mercedes-Benz, even though Volvo builds some great vehicles.

Volvo is the safest car manufacturer in the world.Just like any brand, they all have their own goals and mottos and stuff like that.Personally,I prefer most people to be chosing other phones from other brands(Samsung,Sony,Oppo, etc.)So that my LG can feel special without going everywhere and within 15 metres, another guy is using a different phone than mine.Just Sayin.I hate to go mainstream.
Well the build quality, I really like LG's. But the trend now is with good build, should also come with great updates. That is how Nokia failed miserably. They have great phone build, but very outdated OS, and slow updates. But reality also says that most people go for the well-known brands, and most don't care about software updates. Heck they don't even know NFC.
