I flashed back to stock non-rooted on my device through TWRP (cannot access download mode/odin). I now have stock recovery, 4.0.4, UVLH1, 3.0.8. My PC does not recognize USB or SIM so i'm sending back for warranty. Goes into stock recovery when trying to get into download mode. Can they be able to tell I was rooted?

My PC wont recognize the device at all so I could not un-root through odin. I flashed UVLH1 radio, flashed stock odexed rom, then flashed stock recovery ALL in TWRP recovery. The only thing I cant figure out is how to reset the flash counter as I CANNOT access download mode, it either doesnt work or just sends me to stock recovery screen.

Try pluging in your phone on another computer after installing your phone drivers, I had that problem once and it solved it.

Do we have flash able rooted roms that can be flash with stock recovery ? Because lots people get stuck at boot loop or logo and they are away from pcs but they can get to stock recovery . So flash they rom then get mobile odin , get back up from cwm get original rom back without pc on the road .
You can't flash anything from stock recovery that hasn't been signed by samsung/sprint. But there are some unlock recoverys.

But most aokp roms because of bricking issues they have stock recovery so I though if devs can make some flash able rom with sign or some kind of alternative they would be a great. ( most case you don't need but when you get stuck and u don't have any computer access. )
You can flash if it is unlocked stock recovery.
Hi,
I just got my Galaxy S III and decided to root it. I had done it before. I made a mistake and it wouldn't reboot, so, I had to put the stock rom on the device again. I found the stock rom, which was a 4.0.4 version and flashed it with no problem. But, then, the automatic update installed the 4.1.1 version. Here is when the problem starts: after installation, when I try to go into the recovery mode to clear the cache, the android is dead with a read triangle above it. I don't know what to do since I want to flash a custom rom.
Oh, a small detail that might be important. The stock rom is flashed using ODIN, but the reboot process is so lengthy, I have to remove the battery and then clear the cache before it fully reboots. At this stage (still 4.0.4) there is no problem with recovery mode and everything is fine. It is only after the update to 4.1.1 that the problem starts.
Your helps are much appreciated.

So you can esily flash 4.0.4 with no hiccup but then you get the update (kies I assume) and it fails ?
Do you want to be rooted ?
if not just flash the stock 4.1.1 from Sammobile in Odin and update that way to avoid that Kies garbage

Find your carrier and flash one of these in Odin as they are pre-rooted.

Thank you so much for the reply. After purchasing my g3 from AT&T, I used the same link you just sent me to flash the device. But it didn't work even though I changed the USB port. It installs SuperSU, but the recovery fails. I will try it one more time before and report back to you.
thanks again.

It failed again (dead android with a red triangle above it). I have checked the ODIN version, whether the md5 file was downloaded correctly. I'm very frustrated.

So you can't flash anything 4.1.1 or 4.1.2 ? That's odd that only 4.0.4 works. Does it fail with Kies too ?
What about just rooting using CF-auto root or casual and then flashing a rom ?

Okay, so, this method didn't work either. I went back to the link you sent me with the pre-rooted version and flashed it. Now, it has the same problem (dead android with red triangle), but RootChecker says that I'm rooted. I don't know what difference that makes.
Any thoughts?

So, I finally figured it out. I used the samsung galaxy s3 toolkit to install the stock firmware and then I updated it on the phone. Next, I went back to the toolkit and installed the most recent version of CWM on it and everything just worked beautifully. I have LiquidSmooth installed and it works just great.
thank you for the help hendik.

okay so this is wat I'm up against .
I rooted my GS4 about a week ago and everything has gone fine , I have not installed any custom roms (still running stock) but I do have twrp recovery installed . now of course when I try to get the OTA update I get the "your device has been modified software updates are not available" (I'm guessing this is because of the twrp recovery) . . now my question is is there a way to get the update without unrooting or having to reinstall stock recovery (so I can keep twrp recovery) since I still have the stock rom on my phone ? and if there is not where can I find stock recovery file to put back onto my phone .
any help would be appreciated , thanks yall .

You can try Triangle Away, some have said that it can spoof your device as being un-modified for a boot or so, but if that doesn't work the best bet would be to just make a backup with TWRP, make sure you save it on your SD card or even back it up to a computer, use Triangle Away to reset your flash counter, then Odin back to stock. Might be a different/easier way to do it, but that way would most assuredly work.
You can use Mobile Odin to only install stock recovery (I keep the full stock .tar on my SD card for emergency purposes), then use Triangle Away to clean up your flash counter. Should be Official then.
And after you ODIN, you MUST do a factory reset to get the official back.
Thank you.

Not true, I flashed back to a back up on TWRP, used Mobile Odin to flash stock recovery, used Triangle away to reset counter and checked the option in TA to disable root on boot up for a few minutes, and mine is Official.
are there files which have js stock recovery or would I have to flash the whole stock rom over again even tho I still am using stock rom .

Hello, I am currently rooted and have CWM 6.0.4.3. installed. I'm on CM11 but want to go back to stock.. Is there an easy way to keep root and go back to stock. Want stock for a few functions that ROMS dont seem to be offering but can keep root and CWM ??
Thanks.
Which phone do you have? You could try flashing a pre-rooted stock ROM via Odin. Then use Odin to flash CWM.
Bt its better to firstly install ur stock rom and then again root it as it takes no longer than 5 mins

Ok perfect, thats what I was looking for. Phone btw is S3 - d2att - SGH i747) Sounds good to install the stock rom and re-root.. I'm sure its here but I have searched everywhere to find a tutorial on this and I cannot find a straight answer.
Would you mind giving me the steps or pointing me to a thread that explains how to and has the files in need to download ?

Do you know if there is a step by step on this somewhere ? I dont mind going back to complete stock.. I can just re-root and flash CWM after.
OR
Maybe you could just answer the bigger question : the reason I want to go back to stock is I need to use MHL/HDMI which CM11 doesnt support. I dont want to go back to stock, I would rather even go to another ROM that supports mhl/hdmi.. but if I have to go to stock, than so be it.?
Were you running the stock AT&T 4.3 ROM before you switched to CM11?

Since you installed a custom recovery, that would have tripped the Knox counter which voids the warranty. It's not a problem if the phone is working properly.
Did you update to 4.3 or did it come with 4.3?
You may be better off installing a pre-rooted ROM.

It was quite some time ago but I believe I was on ICS 4.0.. and switch to CM from there. Im not worried about the counter for warranty, that's expired on my unit anyways. I just want to be able to use MHL/HDMI function.. so if fine with flashing pre-rooted.. or stock.. or a different ROM that support MHL/HDMI. Can you recommend the easiest route ?

I asked about 4.3 because the 4.3 bootloader cannot be downloaded. Flashing via mobile Odin will not touch the bootloader or modem.
You could try a pre-rooted rom and then flash a custom recovery via Odin.
I use Philz Touch from here: http://goo.im/devs/philz_touch/CWM_Advanced_Edition/d2att

Ok thanks, I will do that. 1 thing I'm not quite sure of is the bootloader situation ? In the first tutorial there is a note : Flashing a prior bootloader can hard/soft brick your device. How do I know ?
I see the steps as:
Extract tar file you downloaded.
Use Odin, put phone into download mode [with phone off, hold vol. down + home + power ], connect to computer and open Odin.
once in odin click the PDA field and select the tar file
Leave Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time checked.
click start and when done let phone reboot.
If you just want a stock, rooted phone with no custom recovery, no plans to flash custom roms, etc. then you can stop HERE.
For my situation, is it just that easy ?
Before flashing, verify the version of your bootloader.

You mentioned your have the i747 and Rogers. Do you have the AT&T s3 (i747) or Rogers/Bell/Telus s3 (i747m)?
What is the most recent stock ROM you had on your phone?
Hey. I got the i747m. As for what was the last stock ROM I had, can't say. I know when I bought the phone it was ICS and I had received and update to jellybean.. But them went to cm10. The tutorial I followed told me had me back everything up, which I did. Have it in a file somewhere on my comp, would that tell me ?

If you are flasjing back to stock you should flash back to the same baseband/bootloader that came stock on your phone.

If you are sure you have the Rogers i747m and you have never loaded a stock Rogers 4.3 ROM onto your phone, you could use desktop Odin to flash a pre-rooted 4.1.2 ROM from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1739426.
Flashing the pre-rooted 4.1.2 ROM will return the phone to completely stock, wipe out all installed apps and data, and you will have root. I do not recommend flashing the Rogers 4.3 pre-rooted ROM from the link.
Once you are able to boot into the phone and set things up, you can flash Philz Touch from Odin which will give you a custom recovery on a rooted stock 4.1.2 ROM.

Flash desired firmware until it shows official status.
Sometimes baseband don't change.
Factory reset, flash firmware let it boot, turno of using power button and restart Odin mode using key combination.
You should get official again.
