Hi
I have just restored a stock rom back onto my l9192 using odin, but in download mode it still says custom, is that normal, or is there a way to make it say official again ?
Thanks
JD
Flash stock rom via Odin. Root your phone via Odin. Use Triangle Away.
Sorry for my bad English
Hi
I don't want the phone rooted though ? Will it still get OTA updates currently with the Stock ROM i have on it via Odin?
JD

Flash desired firmware until it shows official status.
Sometimes baseband don't change.
Factory reset, flash firmware let it boot, turno of using power button and restart Odin mode using key combination.
You should get official again.

I need to return my Note2, so would like to get it 'back to stock'. No matter what I do, though, it keeps saying 'modified'.
Originally I:
Rooted and installed CWM via the Toolkit
Installed de-bloated ROM
As an attempt to get it back to stock I have:
Used CF-AUTO-ROOT to restore stock recovery
Restored stock kernel via Odin
Used Triangle Away to reset counter
Every reboot, though, I keep getting my flash count reset to 1 and it always says modified...
The CF thread mentions that you may need to restore the stock rom, too. Where would I find a stock rom?
Anyone else successful in resetting their 'modified' status?

okay so this is wat I'm up against .
I rooted my GS4 about a week ago and everything has gone fine , I have not installed any custom roms (still running stock) but I do have twrp recovery installed . now of course when I try to get the OTA update I get the "your device has been modified software updates are not available" (I'm guessing this is because of the twrp recovery) . . now my question is is there a way to get the update without unrooting or having to reinstall stock recovery (so I can keep twrp recovery) since I still have the stock rom on my phone ? and if there is not where can I find stock recovery file to put back onto my phone .
any help would be appreciated , thanks yall .

You can try Triangle Away, some have said that it can spoof your device as being un-modified for a boot or so, but if that doesn't work the best bet would be to just make a backup with TWRP, make sure you save it on your SD card or even back it up to a computer, use Triangle Away to reset your flash counter, then Odin back to stock. Might be a different/easier way to do it, but that way would most assuredly work.
You can use Mobile Odin to only install stock recovery (I keep the full stock .tar on my SD card for emergency purposes), then use Triangle Away to clean up your flash counter. Should be Official then.
And after you ODIN, you MUST do a factory reset to get the official back.
Thank you.

Not true, I flashed back to a back up on TWRP, used Mobile Odin to flash stock recovery, used Triangle away to reset counter and checked the option in TA to disable root on boot up for a few minutes, and mine is Official.
are there files which have js stock recovery or would I have to flash the whole stock rom over again even tho I still am using stock rom .

my phone is 4.1.1 and i want to update to 4.3 or 4.4, whatever is currently out.
software update doesnt work in the About Device screen. I click it and nothing happens. at all, as if i ne ver touched it.
I tried using this guide http://www.xda-root.com/2014/07/download-install-android-4.4.4-kitkat-update-galaxy-s3-sgh-i747.html
Requires using ODIN and i did try it but ODIN will NOT recognize my phone at all when i plug it via usb cable, no matter what port i use. non-odin wise my pc can always read it.
What am i doing wrong?
I did have a superuser "root" in the past. when the software update didnt work, i uninstalled that and tried the guide again to no avail. do i need to reroot for odin to work, if so, whats the easiest way to root now? is there another option for me to update easily without messing up my phone?
thanks!
You need to be running a completely stock unrooted ATT 4.1.1 ROM with a stock recovery for OTA updates to work.
You're in download mode when connecting to Odin? You've installed the necessary Samsung USB drivers?
This is the recovery flashable stock

I got it some where here on XDA
After this you will be totally stock 4.1.1

The simplest method may be to flash back to completely stock using the ATT 4.1.1 firmware from sammobile.com using Odin 3.07.

will flashing back to stock wipe my stuff?
thanks!
btw, arent i arleady on stock 4.11?
Did your phone take the OTA update?
Yes, flashing back to stock via Odin will wipe out your files which means you should copy the files to your computer or external SD card.

I Am using odin v3.0.7 and it works fine. Flashed latest firmware ANB6.
Open odin
Click PDA, then select your file to be flashed.
Wait for confirmation
Reboot your device to download mode (power button + volume down)
Press volume up to continue
Connect your device to PC ( you should see that your device was "added" in odin)
Then click start.

Yes, also it will unroot your device if it is rooted.
OK well got tab back to stock and rooted again.
I loved having a custom rom but battery life was horrible , now with stock I'm back to 3 or 4 days of battery life . Which is awesome.
