No. You will have to flash back the stock kernel for the update to install automatically.

The stock kernel is part of the boot.img file in the factory images. Extract it for the version of Android that you are on, and flash it.
I wan't to backup boot.img before i flash a custom kernel. So anybody can't help me. Thanks

The stock kernel is 'kernel.sin', and it's present inside the ICS FTF file.

I have stock boot.img kernel .I want to flash it via CWM .How to do it?
Grab a custom kernel zip, remove initscripts if present, replace boot.img with the one you want, flash.

They aren't just zips, there has to be meta file, updater scripts yada yada yada. It's easier to just hijack another kernel file and swap out the right files.

What do you want to flash? Which version of CWM Recovery do you have?
And also what is your configuration?

I want to flash wanamlite and version is 5 but I don't know configuration mean
The configuration is what you currently have: ROM, kernel,...
Try to flash from your custom recovery after downloading the rom.

Hi,
I am currently running the 5.1 version of the Digital High GPE rom and would like to flash the stock kernel. I looked some on htcdev but all I found was the kernel source. Is there any place that I can find a flashable zip that will install the stock kernel? Thanks!

Awesome! So I extracted the boot.img from the zip file. Now, just to confirm, all I have to do is use the command "fastboot flash boot boot.img" and I should be set with the stock kernel? Thanks!

Which is why extracting the boot.img from the GPE ROM as I stated in the thread that I linked to is the better option.

So if I flash the boot.img from the stock rom like you stated, do I also have to flash the modules?
