Hi everyone! As I wrote in the title I'm getting crazy trying to go back to the stock rom,

What I'm trying to do (actually not very much) is just updating from ARHD 9.9 (ICS) to ViperX 3.7.0 (JB). From what I read I should have two alternatives:
1) Updating hboot to 1.33 and then flashing ViperX 3.7.0, but I don't know for which damn reason it gets stuck at the flashing part (fastboot flash zip firmware.zip). I know that u would suggest to enter the command again, be patient and pray, but the point is that it gets stuck at [Sending....] for hours until i close it...
2) Restoring the stock rom and update hboot with OTA updates...and here, i'm quite confused. First of all, I'm not sure about which RUU i should use. Second...what's the main-version number? From what i read, this number should be lower than the one in the RUU, shouldn't it? Mine is 4.28.707.10 and it seems to be high for almost every RUU i download... I tried many RUUs and they give me errors like 140 and others as well. I'm just really confused and tired...
Can you please help me?
(bootloader) version-main: 4.28.707.10
I could only find one person who reported with this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2108580 and it seems it didn't help...
Do you take a nandroid backup of your stock rom?
Thanks man...
If i had a nandroid backup, i wouldn't get so crazy in looking for the right RUU i guess :crying:
And yeah...I bought it in China Shanghai, but in a kind of grey/blackish market  It probably comes from taiwan or hong kong...
isn't there any way to lower your main-version?
Nope, lower mainversion requires SOFF,
Very weird mainversion, I would suggest returning to a "stock"-Custom ICS ROM and restoring your stock recovery then contact HTC about JB upgrade, i think they might charge you if they find out you are not on stock rom.
try this command: fastboot oem readcid, i wonder which cid got that software
Dont bother trying RUU's or firmware.zip that dont have matching (or higher) mainversion.
Hi Vcek, thanks for the help, but I'm really noob...can you explain me better the things that i should do?
What do you mean by 'returning to a "stock"-Custom ICS ROM'?
This is what i get with the command fastboot oem readcid:
C:\apps>fastboot oem readcid
...
(bootloader) DEBUG: cid: HTC__621

Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
He bought his cell from grey / black market, so even if he returns it to HTC, I doubt it's gonna come under warranty as it was not purchased legally.
As i told u, i tried to update the hboot by flashing the firmware.zip file (with hboot 1.33)...unsuccessful (stuck at [Sending..] ..do u know which could be the reason? There must be a solution! Am i stuck to ICS foverer? :crying: What does the version-main number mean?

You can not flash a firmware with lower base... You can't downgrade on a S-ON device...
Since your base is 4.28xxxxxx the only chance you have in updating your device, is to go full stock with a 4.28xxx nandroid backup and then update OTA by software updates in phone settings... However, you can't because you didn't take a nandroid backup to begin with and your version-main is really rare so there's no nandroid backup for it in the nandroid backup section...
For your cid which is HTC__621, nandroid backup is for older version-main: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B0PPYfhK8ynbTi1JaS1KUGxfSVU/edit
You can try to restore it, but I doubt it will be of any help... However, give it a try and lets hope for the best!

Put all files in /clockworkmod/backup/28-05-2013/ or if the backup already has the folders, just put in the respective ones...
Make sure you have a different rom.zip file so that if this doesn't work, you can install a rom instantly so that your phone works for the time being
Put boot.img in fastboot folder... flash the boot.img via fastboot and then fastboot erase cache... go to recovery and wipe data/cache/dalvic and then format system... Now go to restore and backup and restore the nandroid you just copied in the clockworkmod backup fodler... REBOOT!
Again, I'm not sure this will work as the version-main is lower in the backup, however, you don't have any other choice!

Yes sir
It says 'Error while restoring /system'
Is this related to the version-main problem, isn't it?:crying:
Did you try it to restore it with the custom recovery where the nandroid backup is made with
You can flash the recovery.img from the nandroid backup and try once more

Flash the recovery.img which you will find in the nandroid backup... Copy the file and transfer it to your fastboot folder
Boot your phone into fastboot mode and then run the following code:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot erase cache
yeah....and then? Try to restore again?

hi
First thanks to sumesd & ClydeB1 with out their help
i would not have been successful in this process:good::laugh:
Few people had asked me how i went back to stock via CWM so im posting the same for ur info.
I am not a techie i just read and do what i need to. This worked for me so it should also for ur. I was on 1.29 did not do any previous OTA so i was able to get the OTA via this process
I was told that if u have updated to 2.17 u might not be able to get it back if u try from 1.29
if u have 2,17 nand back up yes u can do the below.Stock recovery given in the below link but im not sure if it will work. But sr developers says yes
i had the original stock rom backed up via CWM (1.29)
so if u have it too u can do this
1. Copy the boot.img from ur CWM nand bakup
keep it on ur PC and flash it via the fastboot comand on to ur Phone
2. Flash the backed up orignal rom via CWM
3. Then flash the original stock recovery
via fast boot command or u can use the tool given below it is easier
i have used it and it worked for me:good:
4. Re lock the boot loader
again via fast boot command or the tool given below
I used this tool to re lock and flash the recovery it can also do most of the above process
(thanks to thunder07)

If u want 2.17 stock rom CWM back up INDIA (thanks kryptoner)
go here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=32444876&postcount=2419
one more link for the same : http://d-h.st/aEz
Note : it is a CWM back up u need to place it inside the CWM backup folder on ur SD to flash it via CWM nand restore OK . IT is not a update ZIP
hope the above helps:good::laugh:
The title is misleading!
You are saying that you restored everything to stock from CWM, but you have flashed the stock boot.img & stock recovery through your PC.
Well, if you are using your PC, the better & faster way is to simply re-lock & flash the latest RUU for your device (that ofcourse excludes JB, which till now cannot be restored to fully stock due to the Hboot 1.23).

hi
i did this and it worked for me and i have successfully up dated my OTA to 2.17 some guys asked me how so i have given the process for the procees u have given their are a few good tuts for the same:laugh:
this is just another way to do the same which i felt was easy if u like it u can do it
and by doing nand restore i feel i save time ie i dont need to re install all my apps and contacts again
and just relocking is not enough u need to add stock recovery, then re lock and then flash the RUU via Pc at least that is what i have read
I am not saying it does not work, I am sure it does. but your title claims "Everything", whereas you are NOT doing "Everything" from CWM.
As for flashing through RUU, you dont need the stock recovery nor the stock boot to flash a stock RUU.

hi
i was just passing on some info i know and i have changed the topic see
and i hope u are right that u dont need stock recovery to flash the RUU because as per what i read it is needed .But then im not a techie just a guy who reads and does what is said thats all
Re-Locking (without stock boot & recover) and Flashing the RUU from fastboot (or bootloader can't remeber exactly) worked for me several times. Even if I get the security warning message, the RUU still flashed.
I believe there are two issues that the RUU checks, the ROM version & Hboot version. if both are either equal or higher in the RUU, it would flash succussfully.
my problem is my

What sense version do you want in result: 4+ or 5?
Did you update your phone via OTA earlier?
Post bootloader error here, please. Looks like your bootloader is updated and do not match requirements to flash RUU from Hutchison.
1.- i dont know what is better, if 4+ or 5.
2.- in fact the phone was updated by other person, i don't know what he did :/
3.- let me flash ruu again and post bootloader error.
if it's usefull, it has Team Win Recovery Project v2.4.1.0 installed.
thanks for reply

Well, looks like firmware\hboot was updated and latest RUU for your CID requires older firmware\hboot.
So, you can't use old RUU to go back to stock.
You need to flash stock ROM for 1.39 hboot from recovery
Try to find ROM like this one, but older: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1546970&highlight=*stock*
I guess you need to search 3.18 or 3.20 version, don't remember wwich one will work with 1.39
ok, i'll search it.
thank you sir, i'll let you know the results.
one more question, can i use this method posted here? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1927048
exactly this:
Nand for H3G__106 - thanks to Jackster88
Part 1
Part 2
Quote:
Instructions:
***For this nand to work you need HBOOT 1.39 and cwm***
1) go into fastboot and enter "fastboot oem lock" - the device will reboot
2) go into fastboot again and enter "fastboot oem rebootRUU" - there will be a black screen with a silverish HTC logo
3) enter "fastboot flash zip firmware.zip" (you need the firmware.zip from page 1 for this)
3a) enter the same again, the green bar under the logo should go to 100% (either after the first or second time)
4) enter "fastboot reboot-bootloader" to go back to your fastboot
5) unlock your device again with the unlock code ("fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin")
6) Restore your old boot.img (fastboot flash boot name_of_boot_file.img) and recovery (fastboot flash recovery name_of_recovery_file.img), make sure you copied them from the nandroid backup folder we created earlier into the folder that contains the fastboot.exe you're using.
7) Reboot and you should now have Hboot 1.39 with your old boot and recovery.
(8) If it won't work we still have the backup ready to restore the old system, Hboot isn't changeable right now on S-ON devices outside of the RUU routine - so even if you restore your nandroid you should still have Hboot 1.39 now)
Confirmed working with H3G__001, H3G__003, H3g__G04

That's an ota file and not a rom. Don't flash the ota like that, only the firmware from within. And you don't need to flash the firmware because you are already on that firmware. And why not restore your stock nandroid backup ?

Noob question.......to flash cwm recovery also need to unlock bootloader ??? ( kinda new about htc phone btw )
Yes unlocked bootloader is needed to flash.
Flash the boot.img from the nandroid backup, flash the recovery.img from the nandroid backup. Copy the nand to the sdcard (in unpacked form to the right folder) and make a full wipe in recovery and restore the nandroid backup.
EDIT : S-ON....yeah thought so
Well kinda late to reply......busy btw.........
Ok just follow your given guide
But step step no.4-5 I kinda not understand
1- Go into Recover (CWM) and Mount USB
2- Now From your PC create a folder in the root of the storage and call it "clockworkmod"
3- In the "clockworkmod" folder create another folder named "backup"
4- Extract the .zip file in that folder (do not change the name of the folder extracted cause it could give md5sum problems)(also the folder name must not have any space between words)
5- Before continuing on the phone, open that folder from the pc and copy the boot.img in the folder that you prefer
6- Reboot phone into Fastboot mode and flash the boot.img by typing
Code:
CWM NAND: fastboot flash boot path/to/boot.img
Ok I copy boot.img file to fastboot folder and typing those fastboot command but ended up like this :-
c:\fastboot>fastboot flash boot path/to/boot.img
error: cannot load 'path/to/boot.img'
Kinda confuse here.......
Also I want to revert to stock recovery as well but kinda confuse which one for my phone.........here`s my phone info :-

The nandroid backup is zipped to share it easier on xda. You have to unpack it.
Put the boot.img in the same folder as the fastboot.exe file is and open the command prompt in that folder.
Then type the commands
Fastboot flash boot boot.img
Just that command not a path to in it......

YUP...........doing everything.........
ALready factory reset.........maybe app related......see what happen next
Ke, keep me posted
Hmmm..........after factory reset it still the same.......sometime when I boot to bootloader screen it show security warning.......sometime it doesn`t.........
FYI after doing nandroid backup I also flash stock recovery.....download from this :-
http://loadbalancing.modaco.com/download.php?file=endeavoru_recovery_signed.img
AFter that relock bootloader.........
HArdware issue maybe ???
So you resstored the 4.19.707 nand clean. And is the stock recovery the right one. Don't think so because of the warning.
Make sure it's a matching stock recovery. Unlock the BL and flash the recovery.img from the OTA.zip

Hi everyone,
I'm stuck, I am trying to restore my HTC One X to stock as I am sending off for repair, however its not working. I've read many tutorials but I'm still not getting anywhere.
I've locked the phone, replaced the recovery.img and replaced the boot.img however the RUU won't install.
My phone is from Australia, Virgin and has the CID of: CID_023
My original Nandroid back-up is gone, so I can't use that.
Can anyone give me some advice on what I might be doing wrong and what information you require to help me?

1. Install this recovery with command fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
2. download this Nandroid Backup
3. go in recovery mount the sd card and unrar the nandroid backup to your computer after this paste on your SD card in folder Backup
4. flash the boot.img, erase cache, and restor nandroid from recovery.
5. You must to install stock recovery and you are full stock and you can receive OTA

Thank you for your help, so the problem for me was the 3.14 update I had applied. I can't download the file at work, I'll try at home later.
Thant, I want to thank you for your assistance with this problem. Your solution worked, I was able to install the OTA update.
The guides I was following used the RUU as the solution to those without a working Nandroid back up of their own, I wasn't aware that 3.14 or newer could be a problem for that. It is a shame out of date guides are not removed or updated.
I had seen people upload nandroid backups, but I didn't trust those. I decided to take a chance with yours and it worked for me.
My info now states:

SuperSU is still install, I am now assuming the firmware/h-boot is still a modified version. Looking into it.

Okay I'm going crazy SuperSU is on my phone and I can't get rid of it. I couldn't uninstall it, so I re-rooted the phone, installed custom recovery, installed SuperSU binaries then tried to uninstall. But every reboot reinstalls the application. Argh!!!
Any help with this?
Okay fixed the SuperSU problem, unfortunately the Nadroid backup supplied was not a stock image, still worked though when I did a factory reset, restored nandroid backup, install SU binaries, uninstalled SuperSU from OS, restored recovery, locked OEM, downloaded OTA and installed it.
So it all looks good except the recovery option comes up with an image of a phone and a large red exclamation mark, I assume this means the recovery.img doesn't match. Is there a way to fix this as I'd like my phone repaired?
Thank you
-EDIT-
Okay, I've done some more reading and learnt a little more, which is great.
I believe I need recovery.img for 4.19.728.3, so that will match the software on my phone. I've tried stock recovery for 4.19.707.3 but that didn't work.
I wonder if I should downgrade everything. Say downgrade HBOOT to 1.39, then install stock software of 4.18 and removing SuperSU, then flash stock recovery, lock the phone and attempt a OTA update to update everything. I'm assuming an OTA update would update HBOOT to 1.73, the software to 4.19 and the recovery will also be updated to work. Is this a good solution perhaps?

I was hoping someone could help me with a problem I have.
My htc M8 was rooted and insertcoin was flashed onto it however the wifi button greyed out and wouldnt turn on in order to s-off it. I tried several different roms and they all have the same problem. I am currently running skydragon v5. I have been trying to sort this phone out for a week and I am getting absolutely nowhere so any help would be appreciated. It's on ORANG001 and is s-on.
Thanks
You have old firmware. You need to have 4.19.61.2 on ORANG001 in order to have wifi on these ROM.
And you post this in wrong section.

Apologies, new to the forum it's been moved now!
Yeah .. requested it to be moved to correct section.
So .. you need to restore your stock ROM and do OTA up to 4.19.61.2
What's your current firmware version .. 3.33.61.9 or 2.26.61.1 ? Or even lower ?
Check what's written on bootloader - hboot 3.16 or 3.18 .. you need 3.19

That's a very low version ... you need to restore to stock backup 1.54.61.5
But I deleted my TWRP backup for most 1.xx.xxx.x only keep 2.x; 3x & 4x
There is someone else backup made with Philz recovery so you need to download Philz recovery - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2703223
then download the backup : https://mega.co.nz/#!WhwRmSoJ!QJxmI0gYj7t_0Hc4fMKx0XLYQ2n45S3OfrEcDRS3C-s
restore that backup with the stock recovery (included in that backup if I'm not wrong)
then do multiple OTA

I was trying to adb push the firmware to my phone to then install it on Recovery but when im typing "adb devices" it says list of devices attached then it is blank. I have been trying to search for solutions but I cant seem to fix it. If you have any advice it would be much appreciated. Thanks
Has anyone got an idea?

This is usually an issue on the computer's side (PC?). Try to re-install HTC drivers, try another USB port, or another cable. Also, if you have USB 3.0, this is known to cause issues with adb connectivity (apparently, you can disable this).
Also, you need to be booted into OS or in recovery for adb to work (does not work in bootloader) and you need to have USB debugging activated in Settings.
And when you say "firmware" I think you mean a nandroid backup, based on the instructions previously given to you? Be careful using the term "firmware" here, as most folks use that term to specifically mean the firmware.zip that contains hboot, radio etc. (but not ROM).

Don't you have a MicroSD ? Put the extracted nandroid on MicroSD at the right location clockworkmod\backups\ is easier than doing that ADB push.
Okay finally got the nandroid backup installed. Then when i tried to install the OTA update it took me to CWM and failed. So i then relocked and tried again to update OTA and it took me to the bootloader with a ***Relocked*** and *** Security Warning*** any ideas ?
You need to re-install the stock recovery in order to OTA. Bootloader lock has nothing to do with it (will OTA with unlocked bootloader).

Stock ROM backup and stock recovery are two different things.
You need to fastboot flash recovery recovery.img to replace the CWM that you have now. Inside the backup zip, there is a recovery.img .. take this out and fastboot flash it.
You need to unlock bootloader to flash it.
when using the command "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" using the recovery.img from the unzipped nandroid folder the process runs and it says okay with no errors then when i try go into recovery the red triangle and exclamation mark appear again

Yes that's stock recovery. Perform the ota now
Because that is stock recovery. You don't need to get into recovery.
Just reboot, check OTA, download then select install.
Let the system do the installation on its own
