Sooo I want to uninstall Gmail, so that I can install the blacked out version .apk, however I have no option to uninstall it. I could have sworn I was able to do that in the past, so I'm confused. I was going to use Titanium and force the uninstall, but I just wanted to make sure there isn't a specific reason it seems to want to stay on my phone...
Thanks!
I run K-9 Mail and I always uninstall Gmail with Titanium Backup. Currently running stock rooted.
Obviously back it up first.

after you uninstalled the app , you should try restarting the phone then try installing the gmail app you want ..hopefully that helps..
btw the way i have uninstalled gmail apk is by using Es file explorer going into system - app - then deleting the gmail apk .. works for me .

Does it say something about the file not being signed as the reason for it not working?
I received that error, I used Caulkin's complete format [including system, boot] and then re-flashed rom/kernel etc and it worked fine.
I don't know if there's a simpler way, but that worked for me.
Yea it says package is not.signed correctly....anyone know a simpler way im sure.formatting n reinstalling is not the only option

If you have Titanium backup you could possibly clear data and uninstall via that and then try to install from the Market.
Cleared data and uninstalled the old flash player using TB but now it says incorrect update while trying to install flash via market

rebooting phone after uninstalling on flash always works for me and you should try installing the hex fixed flash found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=794512&highlight=hex+fixed+flash it allows hulu to work.
it worked...after uninstalling, reboot, and it installed fine from the market.
Can someone help me please...I deleted gtalk and Gvoice as I now know was a mistake...I need to know how to get these back and as system apps. I can't receive calls or download from market, I need to receive calls so my daughter can reach me ={ plzzzzzz help me!

Search for the .apk files and install them manually?
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
How do I get em to become system apps? I have the. Apk files but can't get em to work...maybe I have bad apk's? They were given to me so their not my originals,I can't find the originals.
Are you putting them in system/app or are you finding them with a file explorer and trying to install them like a regular app?
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
voice was never a system app so market download will cure that. I'd reflash your selected rom to fix gtalk
I have tried to drop them in system/app but nothing happens, I've also tried to install the normal way, do I need to use terminal emulator to install them? Cuz I don't know how exactly.

I can't download from market or I'd have solved this already ={
Shouldn't have to mess with the terminal to install any apps. Looking at my phone, Google voice is in data/app and gtalk is in system/app. You shouldn't have any trouble installing from the market though, have you tried reflashing the rom that you're on?
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
Yeah I tried flashing back but still no talk or voice app, I did get Gvoice back on here but the talk app is the most important. Would it hurt me to just go crazy and drop a copy of it in all my folders and just hope one catches it?
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA Premium App
Well gtalk only belongs in system/app, I don't think it would do any good anywhere else.. What rom are you using? If its an AOSP rom, did you flash GAPPS (googleapps) after flashing the rom?

I have CyanogenMod-7.0.3-Inc I also don't have Verizon though that's what it says. I have cricket wireless and last time I flashed a new ROM it messed up my radio I haven't flashed a new one since getting it fixed cuz I'm obviously not so good with this. How can I know if a new ROM would mess up my radio again
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA Premium App
I'm not sure about cricket, I have seen where people have had to go into EPST settings, etc, to get data and everything working on cricket. If you already have those things configured, flashing a new rom shouldn't revert those changes, but I'm not 100% sure on that. I'd recommend performing a backup first, then if it doesn't work you can just revert to where you were before. Did you flash the Google apps zip after flashing cyanogenmod? You need to do that in order to get certain Google apps that cyanogen can legally not bundle with their rom. I would reflash the rom, then flash GAPPS immediately after the rom (don't reboot THEN flash GAPPS, do it all at once) and you should be fine. And remember, always backup!
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
Ok so make a backup, then reflash my current rom AND GAPPS,then reboot? And where can I find the Gapps.zip to flash?
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA Premium App
Yep, backup, reflash the rom, then immediately after (before reboot) flash Google apps, reboot, then your market should be working fine. Here's a link for the gapps zip http://goo-inside.me/gapps/gapps-gb-20110307-signed.zip

get app rom toolbox- go to root browser- try deleting file(s) first-
if that doesnt do the job- remove permissions- read, write execute from game(s). then reboot- This is not a guaranteed fix- But it should work. hope it helps.
Use titanium backup to uninstall the APKs.
I always have some things I get rid of with titanium backup after I install a new ROM. I heard you can debloat a ROM before installation. How do I do this? Is it just unzipping, deleting apk's, and rezipping or is there more to it?

You can just open it and delete without even unzipping, the apps are in /system/app, or just go in with a root browser app afterwards.

You shouldn't loose root by a factory reset, how did you install the rom if you flashed it the.apk can be taken out of the zip file using root explorer or an app like root explorer the apk you downloaded may not be compatible I'm going too upload my apk and ill post the link in a second you can't just click to install the apk has too be put into system/app folder
Here is the link

Don't factory reset, because it won't fix your problem. Factory reset doesn't touch the system partition, where the file was deleted from.
Make sure after you copy the file to the system partition, then set permissions for the file, otherwise it won't work. Using root explorer, set permissions so that they are the same as all the other apps in the apps folder.
Then reboot and that should fix your problem.
Thanks guys, I installed using rootexplorer and it worked!
