No. It is a CDMA phone. Most other networks in the world are GSM. The i515 (Verizon) model doesn't have world-roaming capabilities. Your only chance would be if you're in one of the few countries with a national CDMA carrier that Verizon has roaming agreements with, and then you'd pay some absurd roaming charges to use the phone.
Just pick up a GSM phone for when you travel.
Also... GSM FTW.

Okay, newbie here. Will be buying my first smartphone and I've decided on the galaxy nexus. First, some important info: I'm from Canada. Bell has the phone on a three year contract with a $50 plan, which I don't want. So I'm looking at buying an unlocked version so there won't be contracts and I can use which ever carrier I want.
NegriElectronics seems to sell it unlocked. (aww.....can't post links.)
However, when I asked the guy, he said that it was the GSM version so will only work with gsm networks. But from my research online and a similar post on this forum, it seems that any and all galaxy nexus phones have quadband gsm and pentaband hspa so will work with all carriers?
So I'm currently confused as to which one is correct. I really want to make sure. Since I'm new to this, any help is appreciated. Thanks.
Both are correct. The GNex is a quadband GSM phone, and thus will operate in all GSM networks.
Canadian carriers already killed cdma, so you can use it on basically any carrier you want on Canada. Only if it's not lte SIM card or anything like that

Thank you very much to both for clarifying. So wait, what if I buy the galaxy nexus from either windmobile or mobilicity as they both allow you to buy it outright without contract? Will I still be able to use the phone with other carriers or will it be locked to the company I bought it from?

Can someone help me with SIM Unlocking for the sprint galaxy nexus? Do I need an unlock code, or just flash the unlocked nexus firmware (i9250) ?
The Sprint Galaxy Nexus does not have a GSM radio. It will never work on a GSM carrier. Ever.
Do not try to flash GSM firmware to a CDMA phone.
I'm willing to buy a sprint galaxy nexus, how can I work with another carrier? (I have a vodafone SIM)

No because it's a CDMA phone, not a GSM phone. If you want to use your Vodafon sim card you will need to buy a GSM Galaxy Nexus

Telus phones will be unlocked.
I'm with Bell. I bought a GN and put the SIM from my I9100 in, and all was well out of the box.
Any gsm galaxy nexus in Canada is unlocked. Don't worry. I have one from bell and using it with Koodo

It doesn't work that way you need a GSM nexus not a CDMA one from Verizon or sprint.

Yes in the flavor of the NEXUS4. I believe your only option is second hand. I've heard Nexi can be had for $270. But honestly if the build construction is good, and throwing around that much money, the Nexus4 is the best deal hands down IMHO.
