holy CRAP I am giddy with excitement now. Been anxiously waiting for that sweet combination of TW stability with 4.2 goodness.

I doubt the update will come for us soon. Maybe by the end of the year.
Also @VikingoRMCF, I would remove some of those links because people will probably try to flash them

I'm sure we will have something to show before too long. Hopefully no one tries to flash that.. It definatly states for the I9300 International version... If not.. Here comes the "I bricked my phone threads!"

Taken care of, only an idiot would proceed with flashing this.

Oh I know man.. It's never ending.. They don't take the time to read the Device Model... Or anything like that.. So we get a rash of "I Bricked my phone, or It won't turn on threads"..... I'm sorry, but myself.. I ensure i READ and ASK before i flash anything to my $600 Phone! I'm too broke to get another one for not asking a simple question or using the search function.

If you need a warning label to avoid your own stupidity, you deserve what you get when you don't pay attention. Usually a darwin award. "Don't use in shower" - on hair dryer "caution hot" - on coffee "may be cold" - on bag of ice "do not ingest" - on bleach and numerous other household chemicals. Seriously if you need someone to dictate common sense to you, which apparently there's been enough morons in the world to require these labels, I'm really surprised there's not millions of dead idiots who forgot to breathe. Sometimes I look at warning labels and think "Self, are there really this many stupid people in the world?" "Self, apparently there are! We should remove all warning labels and it will lessen the worlds woes by weeding out those who most certainly can't offer anything to society besides another burden for everyone else to carry through life."

Companies lose billions of dollars over people's stupidity. I remember a lady sued McDonald's because she spoiled coffee on herself. She claimed she didn't know it was hot.
The funniest label I seen was on this plastic wrap box. It read "you can choke off this item.... handle with care". So, I guess experimenting marry couples can't have any fun lol

I know they do, sort of. Their insurance company loses the money in the end under their liability policy. Honestly you shouldn't be able to file a lawsuit for your own stupidity unless you want to sue yourself. The company didn't make you do something stupid, that was your own moronic self that tried to blow dry your hair while showering, not only are you stupid for thinking "hey electric hair dryer + running water = win" but you're in the shower FFS, your hair is having water run all over it, how the hell did you expect it to dry and the worst part is the morons on the jury who actually agreed with the idiots idiocity and awarded them anything besides a swift smack upside the head. :sly:

Very off topic but HBO had a documentary about that coffee spill, I used to think that she just wanted money as well but after watching that show I learned that the employee did not have the lid on tight and it did spill causing some very nasty burns, like hot lava burns. The lady just wanted them to pay her hospital bill and old McDonald's said they would giver her a few pennies for her troubles so she had to sue.
End of off Topic rant, please continue. :silly:

Sprint been really good to us lately, maybe we'll get a release in late August or early September.
Off topic : Do you anyone know when Sprint's buyout is suppose to be completed or was it interrupted by Dish Network again.

If I'm thinking of the same lady, she put the coffee between her legs BC she didn't have cup holders....I guess she should have sued the car company as well. If you put HOT coffee between your legs, well your not very bright and you shouldn't be shocked when you get burnt.

literally just found an hd7s

Well, apparently while I was at work today some kids decided to break into my pool and were chased off by the lady who comes to clean once a week. I got home and under one of my law chairs are two phones, ones an iPhone 3gs and I couldn't care less but the other is an hd7s, this was the one US released wp7 device that will take a sim card that I didn't have and honestly what are they going to do? I trespassed and was drinking in your pool, can I have my phone back? I'm interested but for now, ill test it out... Hopefully the battery life isn't as horrid as the normal hd7
They can blacklist those phones (using IMEI numbers) and make them useless as phones if that's what are asking.
Don't be as bad as they were and rise above it... call and tell them they can have their phones back if they clean your pool the rest of the month

I don't know how it works in the US but here in the UK if you find lost property and report it to the police and the owner doesn't collect it after a certain period of time it becomes yours.
So, I'd drop it off - explain the situation. Do you think any kid is going to want to admit to trespassing?
Call them and tell them to come and collect the phones.......... from the bottom of your pool

+1 =) i recommend that too =)
Call them and sell their phones back to them. Give them a good deal though haha.
Give it to me! LOL XD.
You could see if they have someone saved as "Mom" or "Dad" on their phones (in case it isn't locked or not pin-protected) and call them and tell them about what they did.
Otherwise you could just wait and pretend you hadn't found the phones. They probably aren't gonna sue you and well if they call police you could pretend you had just found the phone earlier that day. It's not your responsibility to search your ground for stuff other people might have lost their while breaking in.
Well, I have questions for you.
1. Are these kids your neighbor?
2. Are they boys or girls?
3. Do you know these kids?
4. Do you know their parents?

The circumstances don't really give you the right to destroy them or anything, that'd be no different than what they did. I'd go with the call the parents option if its possible, otherwise charge them a fee to not get the police involved.

It's not stealing if they were left on your property. Now it's still not moral to just keep them IMO. I'd say, do your best to try to return the phones. If the kids come back looking for them, return them or ask for the parents to come get the phones. I highly doubt the kids will tell their parents the truth about how they lost their phones, btw. If you can't return the phones in a reasonable amount of effort, than at least you tried to do the right thing.

Not trying to give it back, it is stealing, IMO. Even if you dont move a finger to try it, someone should call, just answer and say that the owner lost the phone. That isn't hard.
But, yes, I agree with the one that said that he should make them clean the pool for one mounth hahahahah
You can't live by that mindset. I mean, this isn't a life forum, so I don't want to get into this, but to say it is stealing to keep something that is on YOUR property, which appeared there without you personally inviting any guests over is ridiculous. It would be different if he invited friends over, and somebody left it... But that wasn't the case, but hey, whatever floats your boat. I wouldn't make an effort to return it, they didn't make an effort to respect his property.

Would be a bummer to not be able to use our phones that we bought.
LOL - ha ha. Tried, just try to enforce it in India, China & a few other countries and see what happened.
With CDMA only devices, it might be easier to attempt a crackdown - but, GSM devices that are sim-based, forgetaboutit ...
If this happens, pigs can fly too.
Some instances of altering game consoles for pirate gaming could be understandable cause it does hurt the companies (not that they are in pain) but I don't know off hand of anything or anybody that is hurt by my phone being rooted. HTC is aware its being done and aside from voiding the warranty they have not started any criminal procedure that I know of. I don't see this happening but I doubt they could enforce it. Hell an American developer would only have to post thru a foreign board member. Seriously let's focus our legal money/manpower on real issues.

Considering how many people use the internet, SOPA almost passed.
If this bill is real, there's a good chance it could get passed. Sure, lots of people root their phones, but in the grand scheme of things, considering how many people do -not- root their phones, the number of people who do is pretty minuscule.
Kinda like marijuana or alcohol. If it's legal, people are gonna do it legally. If they make it illegal, they'll do it illegally.
BTW, Apple tried this a few years back, it failed miserably.
Would there even be a way to know if someone rooted their cell? I'm not sure what would change if they couldn't...

service and repair audits :(

Scary :x
We're getting daily emails now about sprint's on the west coast getting their audits from sprint already, and how picky their being (like deducting points for not checking the boxes next to what we can save on the data preservation). I'm still new, just out of my ninety days, and was hoping to get some advice from some other techs who have been thru an official audit, not a mock audit from your srss or iae.
I also heard their going employee to employee and asking random questions. My biggest fear is they'll ask me a sales Rep related question and ill be left looking stupid. Is this true? What kind of questions will they ask?
I probably shouldn't be too worried. My srss for PCS experts uses my ready now pitch as an example for other stores. Literally, ill be in front of a crowd of customers and it goes down like this:
HOW SATISFIED ARE WE??
VERY!!!!
WHAT SERVICE DID WE PARTICIPATE IN???

Sounds like you're 3rd party. I spent over a year as a 3rd party tech before moving to corporate. The auditors have no affect on your job directly, they can only complain to your franchise owners if things aren't perfect. Do what you can to the best of your ability and you'll be fine. The only ones who can fire you are the management staff within your independent company, so just suck up to them and gain some job security. Things here at corporate are much more slack.

Put in a word for me at the Cave Springs location, lol. Ive been trying to get on in one of the STL stores for a couple years...
study S.P.R.I.N.T., the new hire training, and wear a name tag. thats pretty much all they will hassle you about. oh, and have ALL info on EVERY data preservation filled out! for good measure we get a data preservation on EVERY device, EVERY time. just in case. Good luck!
lol, batteries. Its been probably the biggest point of contention at our corporate store. Just make sure any batteries you have on hand are in inventory.
I agree, this audit season sucks. Having us do things like shipping our vendor returns every Sunday, even when they're not full, just to minimize the amount of phones auditors can look at. Ridiculous.
I look at everything they're making us do like Kosher rules; you're going to obey this rule, not because it's against the rules, but so that it will keep you from breaking another rule. It's annoying, especially when my store passed audit last year, and the only reason we're subjected again is because the rest of the district failed.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
You would figure that your iae would let you know if you meed the entire preservation form filled out. Why would they count off for not having it filled out.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA
And as far as batteries go don't forget to make sure they are all secured with either the stickers covering the leads or in a baggy. Don't want any WMD's blowing up your store.
People I know have told me many times I should go into this field. How much could a typical tech make?

to tell you the truth, that doesn't make sense. If a customer doesn't authorize you to temporarily store their contacts so that you can restore them, then that box shouldn't be checked. I can't see how that would lose points either.
What IS a no-no, however, is keeping the bottom half of DP sheets, those need torn off and shredded.

Not a lot lol. Many less than 30000 year.
We're very under appreciated, considering how few of us there are in relation to sales reps.
Are there some of us that deserve that little? Sure.. it doesn't take much education to gain the position.
But there are a lot of others that actively save the company a lot of money, and are inherently more valuable, and it takes a pretty smart tech to be that way.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
Just to be clear, the bottom half only has to be shredded if its filled out right?? That's what my big wigs told me.
At the rate I'm going ill be making 28k which isn't bad considering its my first year and my manager can't seem to stress enough that there is no cap to what I can make.
Are you other techs allowed to sell accessories? Its a big debacle between me and one particular sales Rep. He seems to think that if I spend an hour with a customer replacing their 3d LCD that when they need a new screen protector I should hand it over to him. I think this is bull, as any accessories sold thru s&r are made by my hand and I should should have the privilege of the commission.
I've been told all we need with etickets are the dp and the eticket summary...is this correct? I started right when they started cracking down and every other day they needed something new or different as far as etickets page combinations
One more quick thing...does my manager get EVERYTHING I make on the NASCcalander????
Yes every transaction posts to the calender on Nasc.
We can see everything!!!
I didnt mean it as does he see everything...I mean, if I have a 10,000$ month, does he only get a percentage of that or does he pocket it all? Obviously I'm getting my cut of it too, but I was interested in how he gets paid...is he getting a percentage or is that pure profit for him?
Here at my store we mostly lost points due to things like notes not being complete in the eTickets, the rest was fine.
DP forms as long as the 4 lines were signed we were okay (Name/Signature/Phone #/what's the last one?) were the only requirements, and of course shredding the bottom portion.
For the most part they only ask reps questions, techs it's just tech questions.
Audits suck.
The best information I have is to start getting in the habit of asking everything your supposed to, not letting it slip with anyone. It's usually the most unassuming person that turns over the scorecard when it's done.
Just do your best, and not make any big mistakes, you'll be fine.

Every dealer is different, but no single person gets the entire calendar. The calendar is money paid to the company to operate their ASC. You as a tech get a percentage as commission (I'm assuming).
Again, I don't know how it is at your company, but I get paid $1 for every ticket plus my commission percentage as lead.
Must be nice.
I don't get a cent of our calendar.

Whats an s3 wit bad esn worth?

Reason im asking is i met a guy today to check out a white s3 and he was straight up in his craigslist ad and said it had a bad esn. He bought it off CL and got burned. He was asking $300. The reason im considering it is bc my daughter has a galaxy player 4.0 and wants a 5.0. There $220 new. A girl in her summer camp mother offered her $160 for it plus she has $100 left from her bday. Do you think its worth it if i sell her galaxy player and giver $40 more bucks for the s3? I have a blue my gf has a white one and shes always playin on my gfs phone wants one bad lol

It all depends on what you think it's worth
To me, it would be worth zero. It's a phone and you can't activate it on Sprint, does me no good
Now perhaps you can flash it to a different carrier that won't care about the phone itself..

Really? that's your way of helping prople that ask questions?
Bmore you don't have to explain yourself to anyone.
There are lots of ways to end up with a phone with a bad ESN.
Someone else could have lost it, got a new one with the insurance then found the old one. Stop wasting post space with unfounded accusations.
Thank you for your cooperation

Sweet bro, who cares how much ppl make that shouldn't determine anything here on xda. And don't worry there's all kinds of uptight guys on here that have never seen a vagina in real life before. An ways, glad you got her one because 300 is a rip off with a bad ESN, I would have offered him 100 and sold it for parts.

Well, i am screwed!
I picked up an S3 from CL today, called sprint from there and confirmed that ESN is clean. came home and begun the activation process only to learn that although the ESN is clean, the phone is locked to the other account. suffice to say the phone has been wiped and no information on it to connect to previous owner. i did the ##786# to retrieve the phone number, called the owner and said i have your phone, only to learn that the phone was stolen. i asked DO YOU WANT IT? upon their response i said, i live about 1 hr away, would you be willing to compensate me for my travel, thats when it got nasty. the lady started to threaten me by telling me she will sue, and that she will report me to the police as if i was the one who stole the phone. long story short, i drove to sprint only to find that they have nothing to do with lost/ stolen phone, they directed me to the police.
as of right now, i wasted an entire day just figuring stuff out, spent 10$ in tolls + 10$ in gas money to get the phone + one day of no work ( As a Business Analyst for Gov contractor you can imagine is a lot of money) and tonight driving to the police station to turn myself and the 'stolen' phone in!
Like i said, I AM SCREWED!!!
Point the police to the person you got it from. That's about all you can do. Get a report number from the police if you can. That way when the owner won't stop harassing you since they probably have your number, give her the report number.

That's lame that she was so hostile, you should have reminded her that you weren't informed it was stolen and you could easily just smash it on the ground if she preferred. Dunno why people have to be so nasty when it looks you did all the right things. Hope it all works out man.
Thats the idea! im heading there right now ( well in a few minutes) and return the stolen goods, so i no longer am found in possession of them, then will call/txt her say, you want your phone? u drive there and u get your phone!
Thanks for the advice.

LOL, good suggestions, but in fact i turn it to the police,
She threaten to turn this into a major investigation, and although she did not have anything on me, i did not want to associate myself with such uneducated woman. on top of all i want to apply for clearance, and i dont know how this may come to bite me in the a$$, considering i have spotless record thus far.
as for my search for Galaxy S3, its still on, if you guys know anyone who's selling i'll pay good money,
@bmoreboy02 how is Baltimore? i live in DMV area, if u know anyone selling S3, do tell please,

It is ridiculous how many bricks I've seen lately.

PLEASE READ ABOUT WHAT YOU ARE DOING, AND IF YOU QUESTION ANYTHING ASK IN THE Q AND A SECTION! Do not flash ANYTHING NOT MADE FOR YOUR SPECIFIC MODEL OF S3, THIS INCLUDES INTERNATIONAL ROMS. If you don't know what you are about to do, DON'T DO IT, ask somebody first. This is freaking common sense to me, and most of us, but I know a lot of people lack that skill these days. And if you still end up bricking your device get a JTAG, DON'T COMMIT FRAUD BY GOING TO THE STORE AND ACTING LIKE A OBLIVIOUS IDIOT THAT HAS NO IDEA WHAT HAPPENED. Take some responsibility for your mistakes and actions, that YOU alone did, and pay the insurance claim or JTAG. I know this isn't the first time this has been talked about, and surely not the last, but maybe this will prevent one freaking brick, and we won't have to see. HELP I BRICKED MY PHONE!................

I agree if this continues to occur. I would expect to begin to see higher cost for phones and insurance premiums for everyone.

TEP/asurion have already begun to creep up in price from ~$7/month to ~$11/month deductible from $100 to $200. Early upgrades, premier membership etc have been stripped. This is due to the abuse of the generous in house warranty services sprint provides for their customers so they don't have to wait weeks for the mfg. Sprint could just as easily tell you to go eff yourself and deal with the manufacturer just like any other retailer does. They have absolutely 0 legal or moral responsibility to honor the manufacturer warranty in store, they do so as a courtesy.

Anyone else notice how the most common ROM causing these bricks is the Omega ROM?
In case you are unaware, omega happens to be "the end" of the Greek alphabet. How fitting that so many phones should meet their "end" with that ROM...
Irony is a bastard.

Edit: Just before I posted, the thread above this one was someone asking if it was OK to flash the Omega ROM on the Sprint S3... Didn't notice till I backed out of this thread after I posted. I laughed a little.
All these people's mistakes and then them committing fraud (as the OP stated), will make future phone prices go up. At this rate, by time the S5 comes out, it will be close to $1000 -___-
I see you guys have the same issues in the s3 forum as we do in the i727. The world is the same everywhere! Chin up, carry on.

I suspect returns of bricked phones are lost in the noise of general warranty replacements. Samsung's sold what, 40 million GS3s? (Or is it "only" 20 million? I can't remember.) Only a tiny fraction of these buyers come to forums like this one or AC, and only a small fraction of those who go to AC ever root (I suspect the percentage is higher here, but we're still a tiny fraction of phone buyers). And of that small number who root, only a fraction brick their phones.
When a bricked phone gets returned to Samsung, I suspect they can reflash the device, and put it into the refurb pool for future warranty replacements.
Does that mean I don't blame people for messing with things they don't understand and turning their phones into expensive door stops? No, but mistakes happen. None of us are immune from that disease. Nor do I condone people who brick their phones through their own stupidity returning them to the carrier for replacement. I just suspect the cost impact is negligible. I'm willing to bet Assurian's price increases are driven by broken screens far more than by bricked phones.
I agree, I haven't bricked one device ever.

Giant.... You aren't perfect whatsoever. So don't make yourself out to seem like it. Everyone has flaws an us as human beings, we're prone to mistakes. Returning a bricked phone here an there won't cause any issues as in insurance prices.

If you return a bricked device by playing stupid, you're committing fraud which is A) morally wrong and B) can be legally wrong depending on the circumstances. Samsung and Sprint both have the right to bill you the full amount of the replacement device if they so choose after you've defrauded them out of a new one. The warranty does not cover bricks, physical damage or anything other than manufacturer defects. It's a moral issue, most honest people would take responsibility for their error and pay for their mistake instead of playing dumb and cheating their way into a free device because they screwed up. It doesn't matter if someone isn't perfect it's all about being responsible for your own actions and not being a self entitled scumbag and thinking Samsung and/or Sprint should pay for your dumbass mistake because you couldn't be bothered to pay attention to what the hell you're doing when messing with your $700 device. As a matter of fact I paid full price off contract for my Note 2, I screwed it up (not bricked but borked my IMEI so it wouldn't connect to the network) I didn't try to claim a warranty on it, I paid full price for a new device since I fu*ked mine up all on my own.

The insurance covers accidental damage. We are talking about people who play dumb to get it replaced under warranty for free/$35 not people who pay for TEP and then pay the deductible. That would be owning up for your mistake and actually paying for it. Big difference than not having insurance and getting a replacement under the manufacturer warranty as a defect cuz you go in and say "gee idk what happened it just stopped working" knowing damn well why it "just stopped working" because they didn't pay attention and flashed sh*t for the wrong device.

Look, I work in real insurance, homeowners currently, and I see first hand on a daily basis how the few affect the whole. Every time a fraudulent claim slips past we have to recoup the money somehow or we go bankrupt and can no longer provide our services to those who deserve them. Typically we recoup the losses by raising everyone's premium. So even tho the amount of policy holders who commit fraud is a small percentage of the total number of policy holders, their crooked tactics effect the honest policy holders negatively when we have to raise their premium. It's part of doing business. No company is in business to give money away, they're in business to make a profit. Fraud even on a small scale effects everyone as a whole when the company realizes they aren't bringing in enough profit to at least break even they increase their prices to make up the losses so that they can continue providing their services and paying their employees. When Samsung/Sprint realize they aren't making the profit vs the device's going out of inventory guess what's going to happen? That's right prices will go up to make up for that lost money. Sprint already loses money hand over fist by purchasing the device's at a premium and then subsidizing them to the customers at a loss in hopes of making up those losses in monthly payments on the contract. This is why the contract is typically 24 months to guarantee they have your commitment to pay for their services so that they actual post a profit on that device they kindly discounted over 60% for you. This is also why there is an ETF on the contract so if you decide to leave early they can recoup the money subsidized on the device, and even then the ETF doesn't cover the full cost of the device.

Meh. Semantics... Regardless, it's still the most-flashed ROM mentioned in the "I BRICKED MY PHONE!" threads, and it's still ironic.
