I'm able to access the Play Store without issue on carriers data network, but the moment I connect to Wi-Fi (tried it at work, and at home) I get either No Connection with a 'Retry' button, or a Server Error with a 'Retry' button.
All other internet services work no problem. I can browse the web, stream music, anything.
Using the rom located here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2261013
It has worked no problem on this rom before so I don't believe it to be an issue with the rom. I've cleared the data from the play store and still no go.
Any ideas?
*Also appears Google Music and Maps isn't playing over Wi-Fi either. Seems to be any Google related service.

I was able to get this resolved by doing the following:
Settings > More > Application Manager
Swipe to the right to get to the ALL menu
Scroll down to Google Service Framework
Clear Cache, Clear Data, Force Stop
Go back to Application Manager and go up to the Android icon Downloads
Clear Data
Power off device for 1 minute
On Power On, it still did not work however I repeated the steps for the Google Service Framework, and after a force stop it automatically came back up and all Google services were working again.
Hope this helps anyone else that may run into this issue.:fingers-crossed:
Thanks for posting how you fixed it

Anyone having the same trouble i do trying to downloading or updating apps from the Play Store on 4G LTE it just sits there like it's downloading but nothing happens until i switch it to WiFi and it works immediately. Yes in Play Store settings to download only on WiFi is unchecked. running stock JB rooted. Thanks in advance.
You sure its not a data network issue? That's what it sounds like.
Data works fine no problems at all.Just with Play Store.
Anyone else having this problem, it also happens on 3g. So it only downloads our update apps in WiFi. I've cleared data and cache rebooted and nothing works. I can't believe I'm the only one having this issue. Stock rooted and only WiFi tether app installed. Thanks in advance.

Okay, problem solved.
It turns out that my issue was a direct cause of my tinkering with data usage settings.
I had accidentally set the "restrict background data" option in data usage settings for Media. Media contains the component 'Download Manager' and 'Downloads' and when I decided to remove all background data restrictions last night, downloads on the play store worked again.
Hi all,
My first post! I have a new Galaxy Note II LTE version (N7105) that's having some google problems. I've read through just about everything I could find, but nothing is working for me, so I hope someone here can help!
Whenever I'm on 3G/HSPA/HSPA+, various Google services don't work fully. Things I've noticed so far:
Play store will open and show the opening page, but fails to connect to display any app info or pictures (no error 495, just connection timeout); oddly, I can go on my computer and install an item from the Play store website and it will download almost instantly to my phone.
Gmail will open and receive messages just fine, but won't send until I connect to LTE or wifi (though it says it's sending)
I can perform a normal google search, but when I try to switch to images, the connection fails
I can search in Maps, but driving directions fail; navigation works, though
The weird thing is that LTE or wifi work just fine for all of the above. I can do everything else as normal on 3G - no problems viewing webpages or using Whatsapp, for example.
I've tried clearing app caches and resetting the phone, rooting & using Set DNS, deleting & recreating APNs, all to no avail. Please, can anyone help?

Connection problem. Go to settings/apps/all apps and clear data of Google Services Framework. That sometimes helps, you may have to do that af few times though.
Make sure to wipe all apps from the cache too (pressing and holding home button and select all apps).

Thanks for the tip! Unfortunately, that put the Google Play Store into an endless force-close loop and I ended up having to reset the phone. Even after a reset, though, it's still having the connection problems. I'm starting to think it might just be something with my service provider...
You have to flash back stock rom or any other custom rom.

I'm using a Tab S 8.4 LTE, having an issue using Google Maps. When Location is in power saving mode, trying to find my location in Google Maps just gives me a dialog box asking me to turn on GPS to improve location accuracy, and after I decline the blue location button simply refuses to work. Google Maps is the only app that has this problem, every single other app that needs to find location has no problem using Power Saving Mode location service to find my location, whether it's a weather app like Accuweather or a map app like Citymapper, or even the browser version of Google Maps. When I choose to turn on GPS it actually does find my location immediately, while the device is still searching for a GPS signal. I already tried clearing cache and data and reinstalling Maps. My Tab S is my only device that is having this problem. Does anyone else get this?

The thing is pal by declining the only thing it has to work off then is your WiFi and mobile data which takes longer.
For anybody who disagrees with the wifi not being usable as a location aid well it surprised me to find that when google sent those vans around taking those lovely detailed photos of your street thats not all they were after. They also logged every wireless network they went past with their location at the time so that if needed you only had to have wifi switched on and an internet connection to give a pretty accurate reading of your location...
And theyve gone even further...they dont need to send vans out to keep this list updated.., they actually use your phones ...so you become a network information gathering tool which sends back to google any wifi networks you find combined with the strengh and location you were in
Sneaky blighters
So in answer to your question either turn on gps or turn on your wifi and mobile data...or just wifi if its connected to the net.

It doesn't just take longer, it just doesn't work at all in any way, even with both WiFi and mobile data turned on. Instantly works when I activate GPS, even if I'm indoors and the device still hasn't find a GPS signal to refine the location.

Like I said everything that isn't google maps app, including the browser Google Maps, has no problems. In desperation I tried a factory reset too but that didn't work. I just wondered if its only me who is having this issue.

Thanks for the help. Sadly turning location history on didn't solve it for me for whatever reason but its good to know it's not just my device being faulty somehow.

Hi all,
Experienced android user for many years and this is the first time this happened. I cannot download new apps over cellular data. I can download purchased apps over cellular data but not new ones. I can download all apps fine over WiFI. I did some searching on the interewebs with no avail. I did all the basics (no parental controls set in the play store, uninstalled and reinstalled play services and play store, cleared all data and caches in the framework, play services, play store. Made sure the data usage settings were all correct but the problem persists. Not a big deal but annoying.
Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks.

Does it error out or does it just not download.
Just doesn't download no error. The download indicator in status bar starts but goes away.
It's working this morning. Must have been a Google Play issue or something. Anyway thanks for reply.

I installed via the OTA 8.0 and performed a factory reset after the install. As I go back through and put my music library back on my device, it appears Google Play Music stalls out at different times during the download. I have Google WiFi, +200mbps WiFi and no breaks in my WiFi connection. I have attempted to do it the Apple way by not allowing the device to lock to keep the app active but it still is stalling out.
Appears to be an app issue but wondering if anyone has a fix I should look at? Thanks!

I've had similar issues in the past with Google Play Music. Have you tried deleting the app and reinstalling it? Are you using an ad blocker?
