So I just moved from The States to a different country and the play store's top app section has been populated with apps specializing in sexual inuendo and the like.
Any way to change (maybe spoof) the play store so I can see the American play store or maybe some European country?

Hey, if you go to settings and wipe google play store and then reboot, it then prompts to accept the disclaimer and should pick up your 3g ip in the states to give you the correct store. I have to use one click vpn to get paid apps because the isle of man is not part of the uk and as such we are not entitled to paid apps.
Hope this helps

Use orbot .start orbot services ,after it has started open playstore press "menu" then press "accounts" then choose the account you are already logged in to. Play Store will be re-loading and pop-up a confirmation window, says "By using Google Play, you agree to the ... ", just accept it and you can see a new Play Store without restriction.enjoy

You could also try "app brain". I personally find it better in finding apps, as it allows filters (like free vs pay) and sorting in your searches.

Actually from what i have been made aware this issue should be resolved in the new year. Google wouldnt have thr iom as a crown dependency but this is going to be changed. Some large corporations have kicked off at google.
Otherwise using bestfreevpn.com is the best option tp get the market enabled :S

Haven't seen it posted so time for it to go up Great app to use while driving especially the music player. Note that the weather information might take some time to show up.(it was working for me on both tw and aokp)
Description: The app's welcome screen displays widgets for local weather and upcoming appointments, alongside large icons for navigation and calls.
"Drive Link has complete navigation functionality using the smartphone's GPS features, allowing the user to select preset, recent or favorite destinations, or search for a specific address," the firm said in its Global electronics blog on Tuesday.
"If a text message with address information is received while using the App, users can set the address as their destination with just a single click on the text."

Yeah who cares what app it is. An app in the market can bypass any checks they have to catch malware. So having a protection like this is worth having.

There are many apps in the market that require questionable permissions is my point. Regardless of what they are used for.
The permissions have to be agreed upon prior to downloading the app. All one has to do is pay attention when downloading. All the antivirus software is doing is comparing a set list of probable culprits of abuse of permissions and displaying those apps.
Sorry...I was merely pointing out these are not new "threats" ...the spam loaded app issue has been around for a while now. Games, wallpaper apps, etc. Just pay attention to what you are doing and downloading. It is extremely rare to come across an app that does not clearly list all of the permissions prior to downloading.
I myself use addons detector...it does not mislabel itself as "antivirus software" ...it simply looks for possible issues, points them out and gives you a choice on what to do.
I am not going to rip someone apart based on the app and what it is used for. It isn't worth the time.

We all know now that its a Google app that got pushed with the update to the Store. But the question is, how and why did it get pushed silently to install on our phones without user interaction. I didn't know Google can access/install an app remotely!!! What else can they do? read my messages? uninstall stuff?

They can update their critical system level apps like the Play Store, Services Framework, etc. silently and without consent. They can, in fact uninstall known rogue apps without your consent as well. These are known things in the android world. Scared? Get a feature phone, ohhhh wait... they can probably push silent updates too. This whole paranoia over a new icon is sooo stupid, it's just an icon, it just provides a simpler way to access features that were already available on your phones. It also paves the way for auto-sign-ins to applications using your G+ account, without having to set up all new accounts, but people seem to miss the benefits of change when they get washed up in conspiracy theories and fear of big brother goog.... relax, your privacy still has the same policy you agreed to when you created your accounts.

The Google Play services app updated itself the same way the play store does. Just because you're now seeing an icon for it in the app drawer doesn't mean it's a new app they installed.
Also, I'm pretty sure this'll be in an EULA/terms&conditions you agreed to somewhere so technically got gave them permission to do so already.

It's because the device isn't authorized. Log in to Google music from your computer. Hit the little cog wheel in the upper right corner. Go to devices and delete ALL of the devices. Then wipe data on your Google music app. Then open it. Authorize it by selecting your email address when it first boots. Profit

So for those of you that didn't know, Samsung is giving $50 Free for buying Note 3.
See original Thread Here > http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2534883
Source > http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/1...lay-credit-just-for-buying-the-phone-us-only/
----------------------------
BUT that is not the main purpose of this thread. This thread is for seeing what other people will do with a Free $50 Google Play Store Credit.
I've been debating the following:
1. Buying a couple games that previously were too much for me
A. The Walking Dead Game
B. Drastic (Nintendo DS Emulator)
2. I considered a movie or music but I already have all access and movies seem like a waste
3. I don't know if it's possible but can this credit go toward Nexus devices
So the question is, what will you do with those $50 extra dollars? Anything good out there that is worth using some or all of this credit for. I'm interested to learn about apps, games, etc that I may not otherwise have heard of before having free money.
Usually too much, but since it's free List (ongoing)
.The Walking dead Game
.GTA Vice City
.Modern Combat 4
.Drastic
.PPSSPP Gold
.Shady sms and shady picture safe.
.Power Amp
.Modern combat 4
.Xda premium
.Ninja sms pro
.Tasker
.Nova Launcher pro
.Fast burst camera
.titanium back-up(root users)
.Gran theft auto 3
Movie rentals and games.
