Nailed it.
Here's the basic rule of thumb. Anytime you get something online for free that usually costs money there is usually a virus involved.

The app is in the market and acts as a middle man.

Yeah who cares what app it is. An app in the market can bypass any checks they have to catch malware. So having a protection like this is worth having.

There are many apps in the market that require questionable permissions is my point. Regardless of what they are used for.
The permissions have to be agreed upon prior to downloading the app. All one has to do is pay attention when downloading. All the antivirus software is doing is comparing a set list of probable culprits of abuse of permissions and displaying those apps.
Sorry...I was merely pointing out these are not new "threats" ...the spam loaded app issue has been around for a while now. Games, wallpaper apps, etc. Just pay attention to what you are doing and downloading. It is extremely rare to come across an app that does not clearly list all of the permissions prior to downloading.
I myself use addons detector...it does not mislabel itself as "antivirus software" ...it simply looks for possible issues, points them out and gives you a choice on what to do.
I am not going to rip someone apart based on the app and what it is used for. It isn't worth the time.

I was just going to say that. I suppose Samsung could ***** about copyright with torrents too.
I doubt Samsung is the one causing the ruckus with they themselves using portions with open source licensing. This is MPAA/RIAA.

I guess more upload sites may do the same thing?
I'm guess these sites were surprised that the US made arrest out of the country,so they guess nobody is safe from prosecution

i mean i was able to store it for a few personal files too,but never need a premium service for that

(i ask before i hear people saying a lot of legitamate files were lost, but wondering if legitimate users paid for premium service)

So what do you think? Are the options for hosting roms getting less? Should i/we start throwing out torrent mirrors? I'm up for it. I'm not fast but I'm willing to lend a hand. I'm sure jerdog would have to be informed of this and see if its kosher with him.
Traffic wise, I'm sure there wouldn't be tens of thousands of people leeching off e4gt roms/kernels/modems/themes/etc.
Http might eventually dry up, ftp can create security issues, hosting costs money. I doubt you could host it on sourceforge.

Due to additional loads on our servers caused by search functionality, I've disabled certain pages on the Tapatalk/XDA app. These include: Unread, All and Participated areas. We are working with the plugin provider and on our own to fix these performance errors and hope to have an update soon.
Update 2013.04.08: The vendor provided a patch which looks like it brought 'Participated Threads' search back but Unread/All still seem to be broken. Will update when I have more info.

Hey, if you go to settings and wipe google play store and then reboot, it then prompts to accept the disclaimer and should pick up your 3g ip in the states to give you the correct store. I have to use one click vpn to get paid apps because the isle of man is not part of the uk and as such we are not entitled to paid apps.
Hope this helps

Use orbot .start orbot services ,after it has started open playstore press "menu" then press "accounts" then choose the account you are already logged in to. Play Store will be re-loading and pop-up a confirmation window, says "By using Google Play, you agree to the ... ", just accept it and you can see a new Play Store without restriction.enjoy

You could also try "app brain". I personally find it better in finding apps, as it allows filters (like free vs pay) and sorting in your searches.
