Xperia play deleted software - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I have a xperia play and lupus and a custom rom on it but i was in the Lupus system checking around and i accidently deleted everything on my phone. Now it doesnt have a operating system and my PC wont reconize my Xperia Play.
It can boot but keeps hanging on the Lupus icon and then shuts off and i see the Lupus icon again.
Someone help me i feel real dumb!
Its shows a blue LED on the top corner.

Does Lupus have a recovery built in? When I did a similar thing with doomkernel, I was able to get into advanced CWM (which was built in to the kernel) and could therefore restore a backup

Im in the boot menu of Lupus, i also heard a USB noise and in the Flasher it shows device connected with USB debugging off

Are you using lupus gb or jb? If its gb then press back when blue led comes on and you'll get into recovery choice menu. Choose the first one and use volume buttons to navigate and home button to choose. Go to mounts and storage and click mount usb storage while your phone is connected to cpu. Put a gb rom on your SD card and install it with cwm. If you have the pics or jb version do the same thing but with an ice or jb from and for lupus jb you need to press volume down to get into recovery.

THX!
Thank you for this thread!
First of all, I want to say thank you to FreeXperia team and Cyanogenmod!
This release is amazing! Yesterday, I have unlocked the bootloader and install CM7 to my Arc. Followed the guide step by step. And EVERY things are working perfectly. Read about some post in development section about "bugs". I would like to say everyone -who hasn't got gsm signal, vibration, etc- FOLLOW THE GUIDE!
This is the perfect way, I think:
1. Install 4.0.A.2.368 with flashtool(this is MUST!!!)
2. copy the update and gapps zip to sdcard
3. enter fastboot mode on phone(indicated by blue led)
4. open CMD(with administrator permission)
5. Flash the cm kernel( fastboot flash boot boot.img)
6. enter cwm recovery(press several times the volume down key during boot)
7. choose apply update from sdcard and select rom
8. choose apply update from sdcard and select GAPPS
9. wipe device
10. reboot
Maybe it will help for beginners like me.
Thank you..if I want to go back to se stock rom what should I do?
Can I also do a nandroid backup of my se rom and restore it?How?
What about the warranty if I unlock and ther relock the booloader?
isn't there a way to make it work on 4.0.1 fw??
Will it work only on stock 4.0.A2 or 4.0.1 also supported

In CM7 Thread in Development Section??
I tried this one too, ended up with a broken Arc
Now my phone has the 0% battery issue, it's unusable.
Ill have to look for another phone I guess...
I followed the steps exactly and all went fine.
I installed all my apps last evening and no battery issues whatsoever.
But then I plugged it in to recharge it, and this morning it went nuts and gave the 0% battery problem.
No idea what caused it, my guess is it was somehow triggered by my charger.
Did you try to take out the battery for a while?
How does the cam work on CM7?
As good as with SE's firmware?

I have to disagree on that one, I like the UI and it is taking pictures just fine.
The only thing is its focus, it will only focus when you press the button not in normal view as what the stock camera app does.
And you can always use a market app like vignette for it, but its all personal of course

Ok anyone else have no working voice search and theme chooser I'm on cm7.1.0. Update not 7.1.0.1.

i am really pulling my hair out at the moment,i have unlocked bootloader, rooted and i think installed CWM even though i cant find or know how to boot into it !
can someone PLEASE tell me how to flash a custom rom please..
If you've flash the boot.Ingram file, then copy the rom zip file you want to the SD card, turn on the phone and press the volume keys til you get the CM options, install the zip.

thanks, when you say sd card do you mean the external one, because i cant see any internal like i used to on gs2 [i thought that root would allow you to see the root of the phone? so turn on the phone while holding the up or the down volume key ?
if i do not see CWM then its probably not installed so i will have to search how to install it .thanks again
There is no internal SD in the arc.
Yeah, turning on I actually press volume up and down repeatedly, not sure if that's right, but it works.

First part fixed - Need help again, how do I install a kernel after installing a ROM?

Hey guys, quick question, I recently got an A100. Is there a way to install the kernal that overclocks to 1.5GHz and better battery without unlocking the bootloader? Can I just root and install a kernal? Like some of the phones. I have not done much of Android stuff, so please be easy on me.

No. You have to unlock the bootloader to flash a recovery like TWRP or CWM (TWRP was very easy to install) to be able to flash the kernel.
Btw, don't expect any better battery life out of this without sacrificing performance. Our battery sucks.

Oh ok, well let me ask this then, I am trying to decide between TWRP or CWM, which is better? Or does it even matter? I am on that part atm.

There is a scripted install you run for TWRP that's easier than CWM for this device. I use CWM on my phone, but I had issues getting it on the tab. Let me give you the link for my thread where the members here guided me.

TWRP here --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1608152
But I strongly suggest stopping now, and reading pio's guide to everything Iconia A100. It guided me through EVERYTHING, but ignore CWM and use his TWRP options. ---> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1711125
Just a suggestion. I got IT class in the morning so I gotta crash. Good luck. Be careful, and slow. If you have any issues, most people can help you get it back...to an extent.
I think I messed it up, what do I do? I was following the instructions and go to the part where you install the ROM with TWRP, so I pulled out the MicroSD card to put the ROM on there. When I put it back into the tablet, the SD card with all the backups and all do not show up on TWRP now.
Only thing I'll add in is kernel choices. For the best blend, Linux society's kernels can't be beat. Good selection of governors, up to you, your testing and your device which is smoothest with battery life you can live with. I use Lionheart and 800 max, but I use my own ROM so its not quite so CPU heavy, runs fast no stutters even under clocked.
Battery life can't be gauged right after an install, give it a few days, then a day or two each governor to see what works best for your device usage.

Yes, i have all of that, I am at the part where you hit Install on TWRP and look for the rom you want to install, the thing is, nothing is showing up when you go there for SD Card.
It's weird, I made three backups with TWRP and I can restore from those 3, they show up on the restore page. But nothing else such as the Music or Movies are seen when I am the Install page, it's really weird. It just has a tab and "Up a level". The ROM I put on their is not showing up, it's like the card if there, but the contents are not shown in the Install part. And I am scared to reformat the card, because I am not sure if I were to just copy the backups, restore the card, and recopy the backups back on, if they would show up if I need to restore again on TWRP.

Yes, I have always had it at that, this is what mine shows:
It shows this error if it means anything:
But yet, the memory card still shows my backups:
After getting this far, is there anyway for me to just reset it back to stock, where I can reroot and reunlock the bootloader, and start all over again? Right now, I just have it flashed back to 4.0.3, back to ICS.
You pulled the SD out while powered on in twrp?!
Power on holding the left volume key closest to the lock switch. Once in recovery go to mounts, check the box next to external SD.
Never remove a drive from a running system, fantastic way to tear up your file systems.

[Q] Link2SD & Stock Firware/Kernel - Does it work

So I recently switched back to stock and saw a big difference in gaming performance once it was rooted and debloated. However I could never get Link2SD to see the ext4 partition. It just says "error unable to mount" or something along those lines.
But if I flash an alternate kernel like DoomKernel or Lupus then no issues. I have been using Link2SD for a quite a while now... and no matter how i try it with stock kernel Link2SD just doesnt see or is unable to mount the partition to install the libs needed for it to work.
Anyone give me any suggestions/ideas?
I have followed this quide before and repeatedly now to try and make stock kernel work... same results.
http://www.xperiablog.net/2011/12/12/link2sd-guide-never-worry-about-internal-memory-limits-again/
Anyone? I tried it again and gave it root permisions however it still comes up as "no mount device" Despite it seeing the Fat32 partition, it just wont see the Ext4 partition with stock kernel. But again soon as I flash an alternate kernel... BAM! see it no problem.
Does anyone have any ideas why stock kernel wont see it? Nothing in the tutorial says it has to be a modified kernel. Simply root only.
I dont know, the 2.6 linux kernel should actually support ext4.
Make sure that the format of ur second partition is same that u want to use in link2sd. For example if ur second partition is fat so in link2sd choose fat 16/32. Or maybe u may need to recreate again the second partition.

Make sure to set the partition as primary, not as logical when formating
As I have said I have been using Link2SD for about 8 months now both on my current Xperia PLAY and my old R800x. I am well aware of how to use the software, and the process for setting it up.
Again though everything I try with stock kernel Link2SD will not work even after it gets root access. Now if I switch the stock kernel to say Lupus or DoomKernel it works without a hitch. Otherwise on stock it gives me a error of:
No Mount Device.... something along that line.
I am stumped. Also just to be clear even on my R800x I was using DoomKernel,

Yeah and thats why I wanted to make it work. I instaleld on a fresh copy of stock ROM, MC4 and it was fluid and smooth.
How about using fat instead ext? Maybe its work.
I remember that i try it on samsung galaxy ace without using any custom kernel.
U can ignore this if is still not working.
I also experience this, but only with stock & non modded kernel. Original kernel just can't support Link2d, Swapper, and can't overclock the CPU frequency.
It's maybe more faster & stable, but.... u know the difference, don't ya?
they will be always pros & con's
