I've had the Xperia ZLfor just over three weeks. Kept in mint condition (no drops or scratches yet!)
Just yesterday I noticed that the "paint" started to peel off from the front display (see attached photo)
This then makes the light from the LED bleed through (most noticeable in the dark). Not a major issue atm, but I will send it back for repairs as I can see this becoming a bigger problem later on.
Anyone else having this issue?

I have the EXACT same thing with my ZL. I noticed it after mine froze and got incredibly hot. I figured that maybe the heat damaged the "paint" on the display. It is so annoying to me.

Have never dropped it or placed it down on the table too hard. I received it in perfect condition. It is weird it only occurred recently

I really hope its not a heating issue! It's only recently I've been using the phone for heavy usage (videos, gaming) and if this is the problem I don't want to send it in for repairs to only have this issue come up again later on.
It's really a small gripe but I do find it very annoying as well!

Yeah it's incredibly annoying to me, considering that I only had the phone for about a week when it happened. This phone has cause quite a few headaches for me though -.-

Hello guys,
I got my new HOX yesterday, an HT23 model. So far this is the only issue I've found:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mnBY-rvhbts
it's quite annoying, but I'd never push it like that tough. I bought it online, so I should just send it back and wait for a replacement. Would you guys do that? Or is that a "normal" behavior??
Thx in advance.
If its really annoying, you should swap it, but if everything is functioning good and it doesnt bother you, you should keep it
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA
Most HOX will do that so save yourself hassle and don't swap Iv had 3 and they all done it current one not as bad as first but its not noticeable or replicable if just using handset like a normal person

I've also noticed a very very small gap on top of the screen, which is not present in all other sides of it. Would it be a problem in the long run??

Hi, Mine has that gap too... Not a problem for me though, I just ignore it
The problem with the screen is completely normal, it is an LCD, so it should be like that (Liquid Crystal Display, when you push your finger on liquid it'll compress and change form, thus changing color) you can test this on your computer or television and same thing will happen there more or less.

I just saw some problems with the s3 , searched onlije and fiund out there are several issues with the device. i am seeing hairline cracked on my s3 back case, and so far i see cracked screen issue and cracked bazel issue online. please write whats wrong with your phone and what samsung did about it. Mine is blue I don't have any of those problems.

My headphone jack on my blue S3 is defective. Every headset I try if I spin the plug it will cut out the right earphone. My white one is fine. Funny thing is tho I like the blue one better so it is a deal breaker for me and rogers is sending me a refurb.

What are you doing to your phone to cause these cracks? I've had mine since it launched on AT&T and I've noticed no defects. My original Galaxy S had some issues like the bottom buttons would blink and click when I wasn't touching them (returned for a new one and didn't have that problem).

Is yours cracked? Maybe people sometimes drop their phones or do something to them and don't want to admit it? I did a google search and it doesn't seem that wide spread.

Pics of your back case? Just curious what kind of cracks you have. Do you have a case on it? My case covers the back so I'm not sure how it would get any kind of cracks on it. I wouldn't really call a google search with a handful of results a known fact. I had the original Galaxy S - horrid GPS on that was a known fact. There were posts everywhere about how bad it was. I'm not seeing that kind of result with cracked screens or backs.
I've got the blue also and I'm not having any issues with these sort of cracks on the back cover. And I've removed and reinstalled the back probably 50 times in the month I've owned it (I switch back and forth between my HOX, GNex, and S3 constantly).

Hot
I have a white one. My phone gets hot doin simple task. My overheat app said its 104 degrees after about 30 min of playing a game. Not a game like NOVA but like angry birds. Is this normal?
http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/articles/371555/20120808/samsung-galaxy-s3-cracked-battery-cover-white.htm
The link has some pics as well as explanations.
Mine has very vivid cracks on the back case, What i do not understand is why pebble blue is having issues known to white only.
I have blue, and have some micro cracks around the flash, I'm assuming due to extended use and overheating. You have to want to see them though, pretty subtle.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk 2
The cracks on the bezel are quite well known (except by Samsung who won't admit it!). White ones seem to be worse, but cases have been reported on the blue ones too...
My wife and I upgraded last week. Her SGS3 micro sd card reader was inoperable out of the box and we had to return for a new one. I had 4 cards in different sizes formatted to fat32 that worked in my SGS3 did not work in hers.
I figure Samsung is churning these units out at such a quick rate to meet the demand.
My back speaker will sometimes crackle when I hit the microphone button while in google now.
Anyone elses?

YES, MINE TOO! On speakerphone, and when trying to play music through it etc.
It's done this on stock and Cyanogen mod, worryingly making me wonder if it's a hardware rather than software issue.
Mine too. Then i remember that i accidentaly put my zl on wet surface. It was soaked with water. But it goes off few days later.

My phones never go anywhere near water, so I'm pretty sure it's not that.
And mine is 4 days old, never near water, so yeah, pretty sure its not that also.
Mine crackles while playing some games. I initially thought it was due to the game's assets or code being corrupted, but perhaps it's due to something else entirely.
I've yet to update my phone to the latest version (I want to make a backup before I do this), but when I do I'll probably check it out further.
Hey guys. I tried to find this thread but no luck. Has anyone else experianced white light coming out of the xs screen ? I mean only one corner, like lower left. I`m not talking about the yellow thing which appears after overheating the phone. The screen just becomes a bit brighter on that spot, it`s hard to notice but it is there. Anyone had similar problem ?
Maybe is some kind of yellowosh creen problem.

No, not yellowish, bright. I know about the yellow thing, and the glue overheating. I just wanted to know if the screen will continue to break down, or it will stay like that.

It will become worse and worse from time to time.
Hi all.
I've received my brand new LG G3 32GB international D855. Awesome phone, really.
Anyway I've encountered some hardware related problems:
1st I've noticed that top and bottom of the screen are brighter, but I think it's due to the LCD technology itself (used amoleds in the last 3 years so a different technology with different and, imho, worse problems).
2nd, and the topic of this question, my camera is showing few very light scratches on the back lens. From my tests, fortunately, I realized that they're not visible in any kind of photo.
I used a cover and a screen protector since I unboxed.
My question is: is anyone experiencing similar issue? Is the lens so easy to damage?
I'm pretty worried because my Note 3 never showed a scratch in 7 months used without any kind of protection...
Sent from my LG-D855 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I have also used a bumper case since the 1st day. I checked my camera lens just now and did not notice any scratches. I think it might be a manufacturing fault.
Not sure my G2 had a ton of scratches too but it never came out in photos... so you should be A-OK... maybe just different glass types.
Note 3 has other quality issues *shakes* lol. S Pen die much? lol.
Meanwhile I realised that the issue with the screen is an actual problem called screen bleeding, related to LCD's back illumination.

I've had mine since 2 days prior to main release (know a guy, mwohaha)
I managed to drop it from my hand, when falling asleep in my chair after working with some stuff for 12h straight - it fell on the floor, and slid a good 20-30 cm across dust, and some "gravel particles" from my shoes - camera facing down. NO scratches.
I'm actually quite impressed

So they sent me a butter unity?
Wasn't sapphire indestructible?
Anyway I removed cover and the screen protector, actually they only covered the beautiful design... Just try a few day without nothing and see if the situation deteriorates.

I guess you got a faulty unit; I'd send it in to LG, or at least go on the live chat. That should do the trick, I hope!

If I'm not wrong I have 2 years to have free reparations/replacements right? Scratches aren't affecting my photos and are only barely visible with naked eye and only in determinated light conditions. If the problem becomes worse or photos will deteriorate I'll update this thread with my experience with LG's warranty system.
For now this phone rocks.

I've noticed some "light leaks" on the top and the bottom of the screen. It's nothing so disturbing, but it's not acceptable in a high end phone like the G3. :/
Anyone else noticed this? Is more visible when you're seen a darker color on the entire screen.

I've also, but it's very hard to notice and when watching films or playing games is almost invisible.
Anyway guys I've an update for you: I'm not crazy scratches are very visible under direct light and I'll definely contact the seller...
Little update
Sent the phone back to the shop (yes, directly to the seller because it was less than 10 days I have bought it :victory, it should get there on Monday.
Let's see if the screen leaky borders, creacky cover and most important buttery lens are enough for a replacement :fingers-crossed:
I'll update you when the shop will contact me.
Another and last update
The shop received the faulty phone today and replaced with a new one
I should get it tomorrow :victory:

I'm testing it now, they also replaced the wall charger that produced a kind of electric noise (and I forgot to tell them it did...)
Another update after the screen tests.
EDIT:
Anyway, a note: the "old" G3 had a "tight" USB which was a pain to plug... the new one works as it should
the "old" G3 had orrible blacks... the new one has very darker blacks
The screen still have the barely visible blue bar on top (seem to be a G3 feature) and has little brighter bottom borders... so I think it's the LCD itself and not a defect. I tested the screen with a simple app called something like Screen Test and every color is uniform (no illumination problems, darker bars/leaks, nothing.
THIS PHONE DOESN'T HAVE AM/PM BUG!
EDIT2:
LOL, AM/PM bug still present

By any chance can you tell me if you have a model with revised hardware? Because i thought all G3's had a hard to plug in usb (including mine).
About the borders i seem to have them too. I think its normal because i can notice them on all lcd displays like the iphone.
On the lowest screen brigtness, during day light my navigation bar is darker than the black bezel on the phone so i assume that yours is the same correct?
And my charger also starts hissing when charging the phone. Weird thing is it also makes the phone hiss when i have earphones on. I dont know if i should be worried.

Accessed phone infos from dialer and it says rev 1.0 like the "old" one.
Yeah I've set brightness to auto and the navbar is barely visible, not like an amoled but the "old" phone had blueish black which was horrible while watching movies even in a dark room with brightness set to minimum
And the new wall charger has the same problem so I think it's normal and it shouldn't explode
I'm not sure about the headphones+charger issue, sorry.
I can hear interference with earphones but I'm not sure of what you mean...

Yeah i thought so.
The blacks are normal to be a little bluish. All lcd are like that and even mine to a small degree.
Thank you for your reply lol. Good luck with your phone buddy
Scratched? How about fully cracked!
First - the phone was not dropped or have any impacts other than what you might get from walking with a phone in your pocket. Other than normal daily use, safe handling and really careful use the phone had nothing happen to it. I cannot pick even a medium bump that happened, but now I have a cracked lens with a hole exposing the camera beneath. LG is warning me that 'mishandling' is not covered ... I certainly did not mishandle the phone in any way.
