I have a Verizon Galaxy Nexus running 4.2.2. I had installed AOKP a few months ago and it worked great. On Saturday my phone died and I didn't recharge it for about a day and when I did I couldn't get any mobile data. There are no bars at all and in the settings->Phone Status it says 'service state: out of service' however mobile network state says 'connected'. I tried reinstalling AOKP and then a few other ROMs and every time I still couldn't get service. I wiped everything and reinstalled stock 4.0.4 and the stock radios and still no luck. The system then updated me to 4.2.2 OTA and the radios are the most up to date radios I515.09.V.FK01 FK02 but still no luck.
I believe I am getting LTE because I can get emails and use GoogleChat without WiFi but I can't place any calls or send texts because (I'm guessing) CDMA is messed up for some reason.
I took it to verizon and after they fiddled with it for a while and put a new SIM card in (and did another factory reset) it still wasn't connecting. They say it is just a phone hardware issue and there is nothing they can do and since it is out of warranty I'm sol and have to buy a new phone at retail. Does anyone have any idea of something I could try to fix this? Thanks a lot for any advice

So my t989 is rooted but with stock rom kernel and radio. Since yesterday my phone won't connect to 4g, 3g, or edge. I tried taking the sim card and battery out to no avail. I put my sim in my nexus s and i get 3g. So its not a problem with my account or the network.
check APN settings?
remember to freeze the Tmo crapware?
thanks..for some reason, data packet was unchecked...i never tampered with it though...its working now

i ran into this incident a couple of times, first time thought it was tmo's network, but after a night of sleep it all went well again. this happened just after i rooted my phone for the first time too.
2nd time was a couple weeks back, the data just stopped completely without a warning or notice. i call in tech support and they told me to check the data packet, once checked it was all good. i know i've never touched that option before, but just didn't know why it was unchecked.
Been running Darkside rom for several weeks now without any issues. Just picked my phone up to check it and it says no service and "searching" but never gets signal. I took the sim out and used it in my other phone without any issues. I have the replacement warranty if I need to swap it but is there anything I could try before I do that and return it to stock? WifI calling does work but with Wifi off, no cellular service. Thanks.
Try wiping data and cache in recovery

I had this with my old iPhone. It usually happens when its baseband crashes. For some reason jailbreaking always did that to it.
Just reboot your phone. If it happens very often you might have a bad flash.
It is working again. I think the 4G must have been out in the area because if I selected GSM only it would get edge. Thanks for the replies.
I recently flashed the 4.0.4 leaked update to my Verizon Galaxy Nexus. The zip flashed successfully, but my phone still showed as running 4.0.2 in the about phone section. Worse, now my phone only picks up 3g, which defeats a big reason I got the galaxy nexus.
Has anyone else encountered this? If so, has anyone found any solutions? I've tried flashing my recovery, but the phone remained stuck in 3g. I've tried toggling in and out of LTE/CDMA and just CDMA, battery pulls, flashing to other roms etc. and nothing works. All the other radios still work fine.
Sorry if I'm breaking any protocols, this is my first post.
Update
It seems my 3g is pretty fast now. Also, when I put the phone into cdma only mode, the phone loses 3g signal. Is it possible I'm still receiving 4g, but the phone is just showing it as 3g?
Also, would use a one-click unroot to take the phone back to full stock solve the problem? Kind of like a mass reset?
I was running wicked series rom for about a month and a half and the other day my phone wouldn't send or receive texts calls etc. The sim card is good and the phone shows 5 bars signal strength but it wont connect to the tmobile network. I have flashed other custom roms and also went back to stock nothing has fixed the problem. I get the error message "Restricted access changed voice service is blocked" Tmobile says there is nothing blocked on the account. I have tried manually connecting to the account, factory reset etc. nothing has fixed it it just sits there searching for the networks Any ideas?
Have you tried flashing a new modem? Did you buy the phone new?

I don't think it's that simple. I just got the error and I've only been with tmo for a month. I bought the phone from them. The only thing I've done is rooted and debloated my phone. It cleared up after turning the wifi off and back on.
Hey guys, I picked up a new Samsung Galaxy S II (T-Mobile) about a month ago from the retail store.
About a week ago I was using my phone as a hotspot for my xbox and then I got disconnected while playing. I wondered what was the problem and I saw the data icon was in the no connection state. Now I restarted the phone in case it was the simple loss of signal bug but it wasn't. My data wasn't coming back on. No matter what I did the connection wouldnt come back on. I called the tmobile tech support and they gave me rubbish things such as reboot phone, take out battery and wait 20 seconds, and all that jazz. I then noticed a pattern starting with my phone, the phone would connect to 4g then a second later disconnect. It would repeat this all day and not change to anything else. If anyone can help with this problem it would be greatly appreciated.

I had the same issue a few weeks ago. It was the SIM card. I only had the phone for 2 weeks and got a new sim card when I got the phone. It just went bad. Go to a corporate Tmo store and get a new card. They will give you one for free.
I have this same problem with my SGH-T989.
I'm running CM 10.1.3 (Android 4.2.2), and it's vendor unlocked (used to be a Rogers phone) now on the TELUS network.
Data will randomly disconnect, but I still have all signal bars in grey. A reboot will enable it again, or sometimes it just comes back on it's own. I've been to the cell booth in the mall and they've swapped out a SIM card for me, no change.
I also noted that when the data isn't working, my WIFI doesn't seem to either. Modem issue? How can I tell what modem I have and what would be best? I assume CM 10 comes with it's own modem for this phone and when I flash CM it writes the modem too?
thanks for any help.

Flashing a ROM usually does not touch the radio. Newer ROMs(4.2.2 and later) need either the UVMC6 or TLMC4 radio from here:
