Too big for me, wanna small light one and can fit in the jacket.
Why not just get some extra batteries and put them in your wallet

I'm a Noob, but I would of thought the following would be the best solution
official Samsung products as according to the Samsung manual, none Samsung batteries & chargers may damage your device:
Official Samsung Galaxy Note Holder and Battery Charger
Official Samsung Galaxy Note Replacement Battery:
I'm afraid I'm not allowed to post external links at this time, but if anyone would care to intercede on my behalf and post relevant product link or simply copy&paste to Google search.

I had 3 batteries with mine old Desire and it takes time to charge all 3 full. Note takes 3Hx2= 6H.
This time I wanna try out portable battery pack instead and can also charge other device too if needed.
I never used portable battery pack before and just dont know which brands are good or bad ones.
Anyway, I might go for New Trent one, small/light and 11000mah sounds good. Just the cheap price makes me wonder how good can it be?

Just ordered New Trent iCruiser IMP1000 11000mAh External Battery Pack and see how it works out.
And thanks all for suggestions.
The TeckNet iEP380-II 7000mAh I ordered from Amazon.co.uk appears to work fine.
It charged the battery from 40% to 73% in around 1:20 whilst I was watching TV tonight (including the last episode of Dexter, Eek!). I had the Wi-fi on, updated a couple of apps and played with the phone quite a bit, so I'm fairly happy with that.
I'm using Sanyo mobile booster 5000mAh costing around SGD$70~

I have an Anker Power Bank. It is about half the size of a pack of smokes. It works awesome, and easily slips into ANY pocket.

I have this one too & can confirm that it's a great little battery pack. It's already saved me a few times in the 2 weeks that I've had it.
Momax iPower Pro Portable Battery Pack
Hi, everyone!
I have a Samsung Galaxy Note and I´m thinking of buying the Momax iPower Pro 8000mAh Universal Portable Battery Pack. Does anyone have any experience with it?
Or can you maybe suggest something similar?
Thanks!
I have ordered one of these http://portablepowersupplies.co.uk/portapowPremium.htm still waiting on delivery but it should work great for the Note when far from a wall socket.
I have the phonesuit primo...nothing but praise for this portable battery. I have only filled it up two or three times in the year that I have had it, but it doesn't seem to lose power over time. I use it for emergencies in charging my Galaxy Tab, and have used it to charge my Nokia E71 and a few friends iPhones. Looks nice as well.
I got mine New Trent iCruiser IMP1000 11000mAh and just for 1 week.
It came with around 75% charged (3 LED lighted) and icould charge the Note from 10-15% both times., still got 1 led left. Then I put it on charge overnight and it took around 14H before fully charged.
From 15% to 100% took around 2H 40min and less then Samsung charger that took 3H 30 min.
Thats is something weird about the 3 leds that display how much battery is left, donnu if it display correct about how much battery left its on the battery pack.
From fully charged, it drops from 3 leds to 1 led in around 2H charge time on mine Note. Donnu if the 3 leds are displaying wrong about how much battery is left, or I need to recharge it few times, before it reach full potential of the battery pack?
Or just the battery pack dont have that 11000 mah juice as the spec say its?
One minor problem, I have, is it cant charge mine bluetooth SonyEricsson MW600, it start to charge it for a while and then stop keep charging it. Had to unplug the microusb cable and replug it to charge it.
Well, gonna wait until recharge it few more times and see how it goes. Right now recharging it for 2 time and update later for more "reviews".
New Trent iCruiser IMP1000 11000mAh
i'm about to take the leap for New Trent iCruiser IMP1000 11000mAh , one last thing , any users who own one can say the pros and cons for it , it aint a cheap unit to purchase, im quite convinced about it but u know , just need the final confirmtion from xda community
cheers
I was just wondering whether external batteries are generally quite reliable, and if so what the best brands are to go for? I am looking for a relatively powerful one - I am not afraid of a little bit of cost, but obviously I don't want to spend masses.
Thanks
Ive got a New Trent and its well built and reliable. The 11000mAH will last you for several days. Have a look on Amazon.
I have a "Just Mobile Pro" or something like that.
4400mAh with 1000mA output.
But the EasyAcc 5600mAh (which I don't have) does sound better and cheaper (on Amazon).
Second new trents 11000mah one that thing is a beast

Thanks not heard of New Trent before. Looks good. Can you confirm it's output charging current though? I can't find the spec on it anywhere. I'm assuming it's the full 1A, as it says it can charge an iPad, but could you please confirm? Looks like I'll be needing one!

It's good and bad . I was on the train heading home from work and I was charging my phone with the Anker charger. I accidentally pressed the power button twice and the flashlight turned on. Sitting across from me was this fairly attractive woman with a skirt on. She automatically crossed her legs and looked at me weird. I hope she doesn't think that i'm a pervert.

Hah! Good thing I didn't have a mouthful of soda there...
Good thing to remember with external battery packs is that during usage some of the charge goes to charging the battery while some is lost in heat. I think I read some where its normaly 30-40%. So for example a 11000mah battery will give you some where near 6600mah of charge so about 3 and half charges of the HTC One X.
I'm considering either the:

The heat loss is inevitable but the capacity should be unchanged.
What the heat loss means is that you need more than 11000mAh to charge up the full 11000mAh battery due to the losses.
The tecknet is very good value. I am considering it at the moment

Yes but I'm talking about in the other direction. So once you have 11000mAh in the device and you charge a device that take 1800mAh you will actually use aprox 2520mAh in doing so. My numbers and calculations maybe a little flawed but my point is that you cant do a simple 11000 / 1800 = 6.1 charges as you need to take into account heat loss which is around 30 - 40% (so I read on one of the amazon reviews)
Either way both devices are nice and cost quite reasonable.

Ah yes of course. Did not realise you were talking about the other way round charger>>phone
Not sure how efficient but if say 10% loss, we still get around 5 times charge with a 11000mAh batt. to a One X.
I am leaning towards the 7000mAh. Not sure if I need it or not...

Also don't forgot not to simply divide the battery pack's capacity by your phone's battery capacity to see how many times it will charge, unless you are charging it with the phone turned off.
With the phone on it is obviously using the usual amount for running the phone, whilst it is being charged. Add the current being drawn for keeping the phone running (say 250mA when awake) for the time it takes to charge (for me 2 hours) and you are looking at 500mAH. Add that to the capacity of your phone battery before dividing it by the capacity of your battery pack to figure out how many charges you'll get from it. Figures used are just for example purposes. Use a current widget if you want to know how much your phone is using.
Plus like a phone's battery, a new battery pack will take several charge cycles to reach full performance. Where as with a phone's battery which only takes about 2 weeks (charging it every day), a battery pack will take that much longer to get the full performance out of, as you wont likely be charging it more than once a week/month.
And then there's the battery indicators. These New Trent ones look sensible, but I once purchased a Proporta Turbocharger 5000mAHr unit. It had three blue LED battery status lights that were always on if charging. If you looked directly at them they'd burn your retinas out your skull. They could be seen from space. Stupidly and comically bright. They HAD to eat into some of the capacity.
Copper losses over the cable at the distances involved in your average charging cable will be negligible. If you really want to reduce it, don't use those silly skinny retracting yo-yo charging cable things that some of them come with. Use a decent quality USB to microUSB cable. The higher the guage of the cable and quality of copper, the less volt-drop there is. I keep a good few of these kicking about at home as they are well made but not too costly, and come with a nice cable tidy clasp...http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GENUINE-NOKIA-CA-101-CA101-USB-DATA-CABLE-LEAD-5230-/140579882085?pt=UK_MobilePhones_MobilePhoneAccesories_MobilePhoneDataCables_JN&hash=item20bb36c465

Hi,
Power Bank caused poor battery life, Wipe Battery Stats.
I thought I share my negative experience about using a power bank / portable phone recharger. I had bought a very cheap 5000mAh power bank from China on eBay. Sorry I no longer have eBay link but what I bought which was advertised as HTC One X compatible and it included a 1A power out USB port.
I charged the power bank and then charged my phone from 50 odd % to 100%. Then again from 37% and it only got as far as mid 50s% and the power bank ran out of juice. Afterwards charging my phone normally would take roughly 2 - 3 hours to charge and although it was showing 100% I would get no more than 5 - 6 hours of battery life. I put up with this for some time and eventually bought and installed a replacement battery which was authentic. I charged my phone and the same thing happened. No more than 6 hours of life. So I thought something had been ruined in my phone.
Anyway I have ViperX on my phone and last night noticed there had been a new version 3.6.1. I was in the ClockworkMod advanced settings to wipe the Dalvik Cache that I saw an option to Wipe the Battery Stats and the battery works perfectly.
Out of curiosity does anyone have any knowledge of what may have occurred with my battery/phone by using the power bank.
Thanks
Adrian.
I have the official HTC Powerbank and haven't noticed strange behavior yet.
What is cheap it doesn't mean that always good quality. First read review from people and read about company.

PowerBank doesn't efficiently charge your battery, so it can't expect the same output that you get when you charge from a wall charger or a PC... and once you stop using the powerbank, it may take 2-3 battery cycles for the battery to settle down again!
I'm using Ambrane PowerBank (8000mAh) and I must say I'm pretty happy with it!
power banks mess up the percentage reading, I dont really think battery pack can degrade the battery in few charges. The last few percentages could last upto 1 day (it happened on my old android, the phone showed 33% for full day.) this is mainly because cheap power bank, runs at low voltage, and battery percent is measured by voltage.
Well..... With me Rule of Thumb when installing a new Rom or Battery would be to dona full drain then full charge then Wipe Batt Stats.... Every new Rom has a different battery affect on the unit that's why I wipe after an install.... Also don't forget if you install apps.... That could also drain your batteries more than others... I personally don't think it's the power source.. Meaning the power bank..... Weather it's charging at 300mAh or 500mAh or at 1A....100% on your battery is 100% no matter where you're getting the charge from... Kinda like filling up a cup.... Weather you're using a teaspoon or tablespoon or a tap to fill the cup.... When it's full it's full.... Really the only difference in chargers is the more output going to your battery the faster your phone will charge....
That's what leads me to say it's the software being flashed to the phone.... Not all are "battery friendly".... So after flashing.... Do a full charge then wipe the battery stats.....

Just FYI but i recall reading somewhere (its on here somewhere) from an Android engineer, that the battery stats are automatically wiped on reboot and also when the phone is fully charged, so any effects from manually wiping the stats is more of a placebo.
Unless they've changed it all recently.. It was probably about a year ago that I read about it

Just asking so is it advisable to use powerbanks? Will it damage the already battered battery that HOX has?
From my experience I would say go ahead.... I use the cheap 20,000mAh power banks from eBay at a cost of $20 and have had no issues... The bank has 2 USB charging ports with outputs of 1 & 2 amps.... i'd been using a few different power banks, but never noticed any difference in battery life
I would like to ask of you guys if it is safe to use the phone while connected to a power bank or wall charger?
Hello Adrian,
I too faced the same problem. I have charged my Samsung Galaxy Tab T310 with MI portable charger 10400mah. my tablet charged with in 2-3 hours but the battery started draining very very fast. later I came to remember the basic rule of checking the output of the portable charger(2.1Amp) and input required by my tablet(2.0 Amp). I think this variation is resulting in battery drain.
using a power bank
You should buy one good quality power bank

Being cheap doesn't mean good quality.
I got a 20000mAh power bank from avantek in amazon after my friend's advice.
it really works and i see no harm to the phone, though a little expensive ($49.99) for me.
Power banks use a charger, or not, to store power in some media (battery, capacitors, etc) internally and can transfer that energy to another item (cell phone, pad, etc) at any time without further muss or fuss.
Portable chargers will require some active source where they are used other than what they carry with them. Connection to a car power port, setting up a solar panel in sunlight, etc. will be required at the time and place of use.
A notable exception to this is the solar chargers DIY types are whipping up these days. They do both things, it would seem. They carry the small solar panel to produce the energy and a small set of rechargeable batteries to capture it for later use. I suppose you would have to classify these as hybrid charger power bank systems.
One carries a power source connection or generation circuit with it only and the other carries a bank of storage devices to draw from at any time.
I hope that this will help you understand the difference better. Good luck!
From my experience with different power banks I can see great difference in them in 3 different ways:
Controllers for power-in
Good quality controller will be able to work with different sources of power (0.5A, 1A, 2A, 3A) and voltages (5V, 9V, 12V - lick Qualcomm QuickCharge 2.0)., will protect agains overcharge & overheat. Cheap controllers may not protect overcharge or overheat - so may cause fire and damage.
Cells
There ma be 2 problems with cells: 1) overstated capacity - often happens on ebay that you get a "10000" mah powerbank which is more close to 4000mAh in reality. 2) Cell Quality - good cell can do 750-1500 full charge-recharge cycles before noticeable degradation of capacity. Bad quality cells will degrade after 50-100 cycles. Also had a battery which started to degrade after just 2-3 weeks.
Controllers for power-out
This part is very important for efficiency rate. Efficiency rate is a figure showing how much real capacity you will get from the powerbank. Why? Powerbank cells will provide you with current between 3.2 - 4.2 Volts. This needs to be converted to 5.0V so that the phone can accept it. Cheap bad quality controllers will loose 30-50% of power just in conversion. Good Quality (and more expensive) will loose 15-20% only.
So as You can see, from manufacturer point of view: if you want to create a dirt cheap battery, you can do it, but at the cost of less safety, less capacity and less final power in the phone. So be careful when buying cheap powerbanks - You will get what You pay for!
I've never upgraded or had a backup battery for any phone I've had but it makes sense to buy one for the LG G3 as it's always dead by time I get home from work and then I spend most of the time charging it next to the wall and unable to use it. Does anybody have any recommendations on a battery to use? I'm not a fan of the bulky 6000mah batteries that make your phone look like it has a big arse. I just want the highest capacity battery that will fit with the normal back cover. I think I'll charge both batteries and then swap in the morning and the evening so I always have it charged.
I've seen this one on eBay: LOPEDO BATTERY LG G3 (I can't post links yet, so it's literally the first result on eBay, 3300mAh for £9.98)
Is there a better version available? Does the higher mAh it is mean that it is better in general or will an optimised "high powered replacement" 3000mAh battery beat the standard LG G3 battery? Thanks..
Suggest to get one with separate charger
I'm also interested in these type of batteries. Anyone has tried them and can share the experience?
Hi i got a 3300mAh battery for my lg p990 on www.amazon.co.uk for €20 i think. Dident do much that old dog still drained out by the end of the day could be i was running avatar rom on it. On stock rom you might get more than a day ?
Have you considered buying a power bank? See, I had this issue too, but I've simply bought a power bank in order to give my phone an extra 50% of battery life. You can find them in all sizes and with lots of different capacities, some will even fit in your pocket with your phone. Here's two that I personally use.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Anker-2nd-Gen-Astro-Mini-3200mAh-PowerIQ-Portable-External-Battery-Charger-/321501314592?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4adaf8be20 (this particular one will give you about 80-90% charge )
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Black-Duracell-Portable-Power-Bank-Lithium-Ion-Battery-4000-mAh-/261777254771?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3cf323e973 (very reliable and charges quite fast)
Furthermore my JBL Charge 2 with its 6000Mah battery provides me with both amazing music and a full battery :good:
NOTE:
Do watch out when buying a really cheap one, there's no guarantee that it will actually hold up as long as it says in the description of the item.
Hope I helped you!
Just got a pair of V20s for the wife and I.
Haven't used them enough to know how well the battery lasts, but the "refurbs" we got clearly came with the original LG batteries.
I don't know if these are the "original" batteries and/or if LG is still making fresh batteries for these phones or all OEM have been sitting on the shelves for a couple of years.
I'd like to get a couple of backup batteries for us along with a wall charger to keep the spares juiced.
I've never had great luck buying replacement batteries for phones before on Amazon, I usually got OEM which were old stock or 3rd party which might work well for a month or two but then degrade quickly.
Can anyone recommend some good quality spares? I see the BCK-5200 is still for sale on Amazon, but $99 is way to steep. That's 60% what I paid for the phone
I got a used LG V20 on swappa some time ago. I bought 2 3300ma Aexpower batteries with an external charger for around $25 or so on Amazon. No complaints they have been good for the last number of months.
I got a Alimu USB Type C charger on Amazon sold by JOTech and it is awesome. It's a quick charge 3.0 rapid fast wall charger. Gives you a super fast charge. Has the little circle thing pop up on the battery icon on the phone to let you know its rapid charging as well. I use this one over the original charger it came with. You will not be disappointed. Would post a link but am still a newbie here.
As for spare batteries.... I got lucky on EBay and found the spare battery charger kit for the LG v20 for 50 bucks. Love the little charger it comes with.
I also bought this 2 pack battery and wall charging unit from YISHDA on Amazon. The batteries aren't too bad. They don't last as long as the original battery the phone comes with but come in handy. But I'm a nerd and have 3 extra batteries now.
Rarely use the charge cable and if i do its for the battery charger from the LG lit aha. I keep a battery and wall charger at work and at home so it's been pretty sweet not having to leave the phone on a chord charging. Clol with swapping a battery and keeping it moving.
I bought one of those LG battery and charging cradle sets from a seller in Amazon. They look original, however, the battery after a few months of use started to overheat and make my phone c-r-a-w-l so much that I had to resist smashing it to the floor when it was taking forever to swipe the notifications. I switched to the original battery (which already had been used for a year before swapping it for the one in the set) and my phone flies!
I don't know if the battery was second quality, but I just ordered one directly from LG to make sure that is going to be original.

I purchased the LG BCK 5200 battery and charger kit for £30 on eBay (not from China). Its a genuine OEM item and I've had no problems with the battery, its just as good as the original.
Maybe yours was a fake item, there's plenty of that on eBay.

You know I did that in Feb if this year also. I dug around until I found the highest rated battery for the V20 on Amazon. There is a brand by TQTHL that claims to be rated at 3,300 mAh. The link free below, and it's a couple dollars cheaper now than when I paid for it.
[LG V20 Battery | UPGRADED TQTHL 3300 mAh Li-Ion Replacement Battery for LG V20 [H918 (T-Mobile),H910 (AT&T),VS995 (Verizon),H990 (U.S. Cellular),LS997 (Sprint)]

I've searched again but there are no UK sellers with this item.
And I can't remember the seller, and eBay is of little help....
I have 4 fast chargers and all 4 work perfectly.
1. Lenovo ZUK Z2 Charger with Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0
2. Leeco LePro 3 Charger with QC 3.0
3. 35W HP Elite X2 1012 Charger (maybe QC 5.0 lol it can push upto 19V but it has stepping supply 5V, 9V, 12V, 19V and intelligently supplies appropriate voltage, no issues with it either
4. LG's Fast Charger which is QC 2.0
So basically get any Qualcomm QC certified charger
I changed mine with a Perfine 3200mah battery 4 months ago, and I'm really satisfied with it. I would totally recommend it.
I also stopped using the original LG charger when I found out that QC degrades battery life, and I believe it to be true, at least in my experience with a few phones supporting QC 2 and 3.0.
since I stopped using quick chargers, my phone batteries last a lot longer. my 2 cents.

A couple of the Amazon reviews noted that this got very warm. Have you noticed this?

This is the brand that I'm using right now. Been about 6 months now and haven't had any problems. Feels comparable to stock. This one is tops.
I bought a 4100mAH battery for myself and my brother-in-law off Qoo10 website in Singapore.
The battery was the same size as the original so you could easily slot it in. The amazing part was that the battery lasted at least 1/3 longer than our originals!
Here are the websites in case you want to check them out:

Are they any good? Any noticeable improvement over the stock battery?

Like I said. So far, been very good.
I'm getting 1-2 hours more than the stock battery. Not much but I just wanted spare batteries.
Does anyone have an updated link? It doesn't seem to be working for me.
https://m.newegg.com/products/9SIAH9B7US2880
Newegg has the kit
Using Perfine 4100 bought from here for 30 days.
Battery is a bit more thicker than the original one but fits with a light pressure applied.
No overheating while charging or using, measured capacity is about 3850 MaH and lasts at least 25% more compared to the original one.
