Recommendations on replacement/spare batteries and chargers in 2018 - LG V20 Accessories

Just got a pair of V20s for the wife and I.
Haven't used them enough to know how well the battery lasts, but the "refurbs" we got clearly came with the original LG batteries.
I don't know if these are the "original" batteries and/or if LG is still making fresh batteries for these phones or all OEM have been sitting on the shelves for a couple of years.
I'd like to get a couple of backup batteries for us along with a wall charger to keep the spares juiced.
I've never had great luck buying replacement batteries for phones before on Amazon, I usually got OEM which were old stock or 3rd party which might work well for a month or two but then degrade quickly.
Can anyone recommend some good quality spares? I see the BCK-5200 is still for sale on Amazon, but $99 is way to steep. That's 60% what I paid for the phone

I got a used LG V20 on swappa some time ago. I bought 2 3300ma Aexpower batteries with an external charger for around $25 or so on Amazon. No complaints they have been good for the last number of months.

I got a Alimu USB Type C charger on Amazon sold by JOTech and it is awesome. It's a quick charge 3.0 rapid fast wall charger. Gives you a super fast charge. Has the little circle thing pop up on the battery icon on the phone to let you know its rapid charging as well. I use this one over the original charger it came with. You will not be disappointed. Would post a link but am still a newbie here.
As for spare batteries.... I got lucky on EBay and found the spare battery charger kit for the LG v20 for 50 bucks. Love the little charger it comes with.
I also bought this 2 pack battery and wall charging unit from YISHDA on Amazon. The batteries aren't too bad. They don't last as long as the original battery the phone comes with but come in handy. But I'm a nerd and have 3 extra batteries now.
Rarely use the charge cable and if i do its for the battery charger from the LG lit aha. I keep a battery and wall charger at work and at home so it's been pretty sweet not having to leave the phone on a chord charging. Clol with swapping a battery and keeping it moving.

I bought one of those LG battery and charging cradle sets from a seller in Amazon. They look original, however, the battery after a few months of use started to overheat and make my phone c-r-a-w-l so much that I had to resist smashing it to the floor when it was taking forever to swipe the notifications. I switched to the original battery (which already had been used for a year before swapping it for the one in the set) and my phone flies!
I don't know if the battery was second quality, but I just ordered one directly from LG to make sure that is going to be original.

I purchased the LG BCK 5200 battery and charger kit for £30 on eBay (not from China). Its a genuine OEM item and I've had no problems with the battery, its just as good as the original.
Maybe yours was a fake item, there's plenty of that on eBay.

You know I did that in Feb if this year also. I dug around until I found the highest rated battery for the V20 on Amazon. There is a brand by TQTHL that claims to be rated at 3,300 mAh. The link free below, and it's a couple dollars cheaper now than when I paid for it.

I've searched again but there are no UK sellers with this item.
And I can't remember the seller, and eBay is of little help....

I have 4 fast chargers and all 4 work perfectly.
1. Lenovo ZUK Z2 Charger with Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0
2. Leeco LePro 3 Charger with QC 3.0
3. 35W HP Elite X2 1012 Charger (maybe QC 5.0 lol it can push upto 19V but it has stepping supply 5V, 9V, 12V, 19V and intelligently supplies appropriate voltage, no issues with it either
4. LG's Fast Charger which is QC 2.0
So basically get any Qualcomm QC certified charger

I changed mine with a Perfine 3200mah battery 4 months ago, and I'm really satisfied with it. I would totally recommend it.
I also stopped using the original LG charger when I found out that QC degrades battery life, and I believe it to be true, at least in my experience with a few phones supporting QC 2 and 3.0.
since I stopped using quick chargers, my phone batteries last a lot longer. my 2 cents.

This is the brand that I'm using right now. Been about 6 months now and haven't had any problems. Feels comparable to stock. This one is tops.

I bought a 4100mAH battery for myself and my brother-in-law off Qoo10 website in Singapore.
The battery was the same size as the original so you could easily slot it in. The amazing part was that the battery lasted at least 1/3 longer than our originals!

Like I said. So far, been very good.
I'm getting 1-2 hours more than the stock battery. Not much but I just wanted spare batteries.

Does anyone have an updated link? It doesn't seem to be working for me.

Newegg has the kit

Using Perfine 4100 bought from here for 30 days.
Battery is a bit more thicker than the original one but fits with a light pressure applied.
No overheating while charging or using, measured capacity is about 3850 MaH and lasts at least 25% more compared to the original one.

Yeah the android system doesn't really care, it measures the battery in percentages.
I've got a cheapo 2000mAH that I picked up for my Hero, it lasts a little longer than the OEM battery. I do notice a difference. When my phones battery is low, I can tell what battery is in it without opening it, just because I know how long I've been off the charger.
They're cheap. You can also find a deal for 2 1500 mAH batteries and a wall charger for $10. I went with that..
I'm buying one because they are red lol.. j/k well for $10 more than the China seller, you get "300mAH" more and this guy is in California so shipping should not take close to a month
I was expecting to be able to offer him $10, but he has that set on auto reject so I just went with the 2x 1500 mAh for $10.
I wonder what brand these batteries actually are? If they are just rebranded Mugen's, then according to batteryboss.org they are worse than OEM 1500mAh.
this seems like a good deal http://cgi.ebay.com/1500mAh-Battery...ewItem&pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item43a048184b

not quite sure what you mean, but ultimately yes, they are all from china. I just thought it was a good deal, but too bad it wasnt shipping from somewhere in the US. I'm not too thrilled to order things from across the world.
I bought the 2x plus charger for $10...They seem to be holding up pretty well, maybe a bit shorter life than the stock one, but if you have three batteries and can rotate through 2 of them while keeping one on the charger, you'll never have to plug your phone in again...I would say BUY BUY BUY, for the price, you can't go wrong, it's worth the standalone charger with a built in usb port.
I am using the 10$ 2x1500ma with the charger... free shipping too. I have only been using one of the Chinese batteries, they are great, they last about, or maybe a little less. I just put the real and the spare one in my wallet... so beast.
I doubt those things are even 1800mAh, they are probably the same 2x1500+Wall Charger $10 deal just a different color/sticker. Its the same exact charger and same exact sticker thats on the 1500mAh ones just it says 1800mAh and the battery color is red.
I purchased the $10 2x1500mAh + Wall Charger bundle about a week ago and have been putting them through their paces ever since, they have been fine for me. About the same as an oem battery, maybe a tiny tiny bit less but nothing really noticeable unless you have OCD like me lol.
I would just spring for the $10 one, search my threads if you need the link. Best of luck.
I know the OP has already purchased the 2x 1500 mah batteries, but I thought I'd add my 2 cents for anyone else thinking about batteries.
I bought the 2x 1500 mah batteries plus charger too. I don't see any difference between them and the OEM battery. I actually do wish they were red so I could use them if I buy the clear battery door that's being discussed in another thread, but not enough to spend twice as much.
We just did a week-long vacation and I bought six batteries for my wife and me to share (coming from the iPhone I went a little crazy). We often switched a battery while out all day, but the only time I needed to use three was when we flew back -- which was a 15 hour ordeal due to a canceled flight. Thank god I had all the battery power I could need without having to resort to $75 external battery packs.
I also bought two of the 1500 mAH batteries, and they seem to work fine. I haven't really noticed much of a difference between the cheap ones and the OEM battery.

Where to purchase a extra battery

Question, I hear that there are different captivate battery's. some are better then others of the same "kind"
Where is the best place to buy a GOOD battery?
Are the ones on amazon most likely newer? or older crappy ones?
correct me if im wrong but from my readings on forums apparently samsung had a batch of terrible battery's before there were good ones?
and is the standard samsung battery good? or is there a better battery I could buy?
Thanks.
I just order a 2nd Samsung battery via Amazon. I'll report back on how it works when it arrives this week.
Link to what you purchased?
This site wont let me post "outside links" but just look for Samsung EB575152VA on Amazon ~ $15.
You may want to wait until I try it though.
In dealextrem.com there are four models with diferent prices for Samsung i9000.

Battery arrived yesterday. It is exactly the same as the one that came with the phone. It charged up fine and I've been using for 10 hrs today and still at 45%.
I purchased the "2 battery and wall charger" for $25 on amazon at christmas, and have been using them since. I keep one of the new ones fully charged in my backpack(emergency backup), and swap between the stock and the other one i got from amazon. They are good imitation batteries, but not identical to stock, and I estimate that they have about 90% of the capacity of stock.
The wall charger also has a USB out to charge the phone, but i find that the digitizer acts funny and the touch feature is greatly impacted when the phone is charging via the USB on the wall charger. Other than that, the batteries charge in the phone as well, and the stock battery charges fine on the wall charger, though the wall charger definitely charges slower than the stock one.

+1 on getting genuine Samsung battery!
Every hicap I ever used for my smart phones, usually swell up quickly (start within a few weeks), and then they don't even last as long as an OEM 1500mah battery. I even had one pop the battery cover off, and leak!
When you get your battery (no matter where you get it from) make sure it's not swollen anywhere (check it often too!), and also make sure it was manufactured within the past year. Old stock, even OEM old stock, is a hit or miss thing... always make sure you are getting good "new" batteries.
LiPol / LiIon batteries deteriorate over time, and are sensitive to heat, keep your battery as cool as you can, and it will last you a long time.

I don't see why the cheap eBay ones (~$5) wouldn't work with an extended battery. (The cutout/space for the battery is the same size/shape as the one in the back of the phone)
But, it's only a couple of bucks more to get a charger with 1 or 2 (regular-size) batteries... might as well get a couple of spares?

I've been using mine for 6+ months, with no ill effects. (On both my Epic 4G and Epic 4G Touch - it's awesome that my backup phone uses the same size battery!)
Bought my cheap eBay charger for ~$10 with a "2200mAh" battery - I haven't noticed any longer life than my 1800mAh original. (It's probably that same "Chinese math" that gives us 4000W car audio amplifiers for $39.)
I have noticed that both batteries don't seem to be fully charged by this external charger - they show 100% when installed in my phone, but neither lasts quite as long compared to if they were charged in the phone. But, this is a small price to pay for having a (mostly) charged battery, ready to go at all times.
UPDATE: I bought some of the "Anker" brand batteries suggested in this thread, and they last a lot longer than the $4 ebay ones I was using previously. $20 for 2 good batteries + universal charger (Amazon) was worth it.

[Q] Best experiences with external battery backups?

Just ordered a Zenfone 2 to replace my old S3. Love the phone, but hate the non-removable battery. Took the leap anyway because of the price. What are your best recommendations for battery backup units in the ~6000 mAh, ~12000 mAh, and ~20000+ mAh ranges? I figure I can snag a small backup that can fit in a pocket and a larger one I can leave in my car/bag/backpack. Which ones have you guys experienced that are long lasting and charge effectively? Ones that are resilient? Anything to the gimmicky seeming solar charging backup units from the like of ZeroLemon or another producer?
Aukey has a "Quick Charge 2.0" battery pack that should quick charge the phone way faster than any other option out there. Other than that I'd just watch the usual deal forums, etc. to find well reviewed models on sale.
My assumption has always been that tiny solar panels probably take forever to replenish your battery pack, but I can't say I have any firsthand experience.

I would ONLY buy Anker brand. a lot of usb mobile batteries dont have power output to charge a phone that is also in use, and also have a heavy degradation after multiple uses. I was in a jam and bought a second battery at a CVS when i was out of town on business once and left my Anker brand at home, and after 3 uses it no longer could charge my phone faster than i was using it (talking on the phone).

I looked at getting one....however Asus wanted to charge $14 for ground shipping....ordered the Mi Power bank earlier....and they charged $5 to ship. With stock in the US, there is no way Asus should be charging that much for ground....Express shouldn't cost that much! Also....I wanted the Mi Band lol
I ended up ordering two of the 13000 mAh and one 6400 mAh backup, all from Anker. They were all Amazon Prime so I got free fast shipping, and they offer their version of Quick Charge so it should be a solid option for me. I'll update with my experience after I've had them for a bit if anyone cares.

Oh I am sorry to hear that man. Did you check eBay? Coz i got mine with the phone. If i deduct the phone price, the zenpower was only $10 plus shipping was free coz it was with the phone anyway. Replacement battery in UK (not extended) and external charger

I've just picked up a refurbed H910 and want to add at least 2 spare batteries, but as the phone was never released here in the UK AND it's 2 years old, finding batteries that aren't rubbish "ebay knock-offs" really isn't easy. Does anyone over here have any suggestions? Ideally I'd like to keep the phone for 12-18 months but I'm not wanting to spend the earth having units sent direct from LG. For my Samsung phones, I used to buy Anker or RavPower batteries and they were great. I'd happily get some from the US if I can sort out a way of getting them out to me.
Also, finding the genuine external charging cradle is proving to be a nightmare - the phone has only cost me £155, so spending £50 on a charger seems crazy! If anyone has an old one they're not using and fancies selling it to me, just let me know (I'd pay to ship from the US).
Fingers crossed I can get something and get myself a great set up!
(Next job, rooting and sticking a custom recovery on so I can de-bloat it!)
genuine batteries are becoming more and more like unicorns for this phone.
Unless you go directly to an LG store, where they also provide servicing, you have practically no chance to find a genuine one.
on the net they all sell "oem" versions, which are definitely knock offs.
bear in mind that LG is going to charge you over 40 quid for that battery, with the excuse that it's an imported item.
the best solution I found was buying a Perfine 3200mah battery on amazon. Perfine boys have a good reputation with their batteries, virtually there's no difference from the original battery, it lasts just the same, I couldn't be happier.

Yeah I remember seeing you had mentioned that brand on another thread. I guess at least with it being Amazon, if there are any issues I can contact them.
Have you found an external charger here in the UK?
Using a perfine 6400 extended battery is a worthy upgrade, I was against extended batteries as ienjoued the slim profile but this thing is a beast, 2 days heavy usage and I can always switch to the OEM battery for parties etc when I need a slim giant 5.7' device to fit in my jeans.
The battery cradle and OEM spare (last time I checked) are available on eBay from sellers like chiangiairport etc. For around £30-£40 I'll check when I get back home for you. But honestly the extended batteries are awesome.

Thanks but I really can't see me going down the extended battery route - I had one on my first ever smartphone and rarely used it, I'd rather pick up 2 spare batteries.
If you can find a link to one of those sellers, that would be fantastic!
I'm looking into rooting my H910 today but it looks like quite the minefield! It was a LOT more straightforward with the Samsung's I had - only one or 2 methods and it was easy to see which was currently working!

I've just picked up a refurbed H910 and want to add at least 2 spare batteries, but as the phone was never released here in the UK AND it's 2 years old, finding batteries that aren't rubbish "ebay knock-offs" really isn't easy.
Does anyone over here have any suggestions?

Possibly. Turns out the V20 uses the same size battery as the Stylo 3 aka the Stylus 3 which as i understand DID get released in the UK. Ask LG UK about a spare battery for the Stylus 3 ?
See the comments in youtube for this video
Also, finding the genuine external charging cradle is proving to be a nightmare - the phone has only cost me £155, so spending £50 on a charger seems crazy! If anyone has an old one they're not using and fancies selling it to me, just let me know (I'd pay to ship from the US).
Fingers crossed I can get something and get myself a great set up!
(Next job, rooting and sticking a custom recovery on so I can de-bloat it!)

Charger is a tricky one. The V20 was released in India. Unfortunately LG India didn't release the charger here like they did with the G4 & G5. So i had to import mine from the US and it worked out around 75 quid OEM with a battery as well. This was last Nov. Likely harder to find now a days
Lg uk wont help at all even for the stylo 3 battery there useless and refer you to the horrror centre that is sbe ltd that tell you to call lg hahabthe vest way around it was to use replacebase battery

I've just ordered a new battery for my H990ds.
Excellent company to deal with.
I've had a Sony Z2 battery from them, genuine OEM part - too many vendors state OEM part but supply ****ty copies.

Can you do me a favour and let me know how you get on with this? I might have a look around online and see if someone's posted any info how you check the difference between the fakes and genuine units and get back to you, if that's ok?
I bought one of these a few weeks ago and it's performing around the same as the factory battery. I'm a little disappointed to only be getting around 4 hours SOT, but it'll have to do - this is the last top phone I can see that'll have removable batteries (a must have for my travels) so I'd rather swap it out once a day if need be than potentially have 7+ with my Xiaomi Note 5 but get caught out having to charge mid way through the day when I'm on the road.
Have you found an external charger over here? All I can see are things like this
The batteries supplied by Replace Base are all guaranteed genuine OEM items, there's no need to research if you buy from them. The LG battery is only a quid more (including postage) than the grey item you purchased from Amazon.
I use two mains chargers:
- dodocool QC 3.0 18Watt, purchased two years ago from Amazon
- kit QC 2.0, purchased from Asda two months ago
Both work fine and charge at the faster rates.
I also have the LG BCK-5200 charging kit.
The 'charger' you linked is a pos, I'd not entertain anything like that... the appearance and price tell you a lot.

I've seen a lot of "genuine" OEM accessories over the years and have come across quite a few sites and sellers who claim their stock to be genuine, but I prefer to check than to take their word for it. I've had zero dealings with the site you mention and have never had the name come up before so I'm obviously dubious. I'm not sure what you said the battery I linked was "grey" as it's not a parallel import, it's just a third party unit, but it does come with an 18 month warranty and through Amazon. I've read about some of the genuine LG V20 batteries being old stock and not performing well. But if you're happy with the one(s) you've received then that's great.
Mains chargers aren't an issue (though personally I've no desire to use QC as it's likely to degrade the batteries quicker than a regular charge), it's only the external that I'm looking for. LG BCK-5200 are like hens teeth, I've been looking for one in this country for around 2 months, the cheapest I can find is through ebay from Israel for £35 which is way too much for a plastic charging cradle! I've had similar ones from Samsung and they performed no differently from a cheap third party unit I had for my last HTC which is actually similar to the "pos" one that I linked. I'm hoping to find an LG one but refuse to pay £35 plus £12+ per battery for a phone that cost me £155 a month ago - that's crazy. Surely someone out there must have a dead V20 and want rid of theirs?!
Good luck matey :good:
