I have a at&t note 2, I currently had my last phone stolen(iphone 5) so decided I would buy my sisters phone. Not being able to go get the phone(I'm in the army) I just bought it from sister. ( not knowing the phone was at&t) so now am I stuck? I've done my reading and understand that you can flash it for t-mobile data etc, so if anyone could help. I would love. Plus my phone is unlocked. So anyhelp would be great. Thanks guy

Verizon uses different technology, and even if it WAS compatible, Verizon will only activate verizon branded phones. There's literally 0% chance of getting this to work, sorry.

The above post is correct. GSM = att vs CDMA = Verizon
But you're still in luck! You can sell it for a Verizon model, or trade it for a Verizon brand!! There's plenty of sites out there that'll do that. And it's a plus that it's unlocked also. Makes it easier for anyone to use on any gsm network!!
Try here: http://swappa.com/
Good luck to ya bruh...

The frequencies are different. And Verizon/Sprint won't activate phones of each other's networks anyway even if they were compatible.
So there is no way to change said frequencies? And thank you.

I honestly haven't really looked into it, but as far as I know, the LTE/4G radio is different, but the CDMA radio should be the same. So, if you can find someone at Verizon that would be willing to activate a non-Verizon phone (extremely unlikely I would say), then you should be able to get regular, non-LTE Verizon service on a Sprint device, assuming the firmware was flashed properly. The guys in this thread have made some progress on CDMA devices.
you could, but you wouldn't have 4g. The same way you'd flash a verizon nexus to cricket, you'd flash it to sprint. There are already small mods out there to get a sprint g'nex to operate on verizons bands, so to me, that proves the hardware works. The only thing wierd about the sprint version is its embedded sim. Its worth a shot, but good luck getting anyone to do the leg work for you.
Interesting. I might have a few connections at Verizon Wireless retail stores. A friend of mine, his mother works at one. So I might be able to get her to activate it.
Its not as simple as just activating it. At Verizon, our 4g phones are activated by the sim, not the imei. If the sim is not in Verizon's system, it will give a sim validation error.
Even with 3g phones like the iPhone, if the imei is not in Verizon's system, it will give a device validation error.

Just... buy a Verizon model? Why would you take a Sprint model and gimp yourself to Verizon 3G, dealing with the hassle, when you can very simply and cheaply buy a Verizon one with LTE and absolutely no hassle.

It works, just pop in the sim and power cycle. Theres a non verizon sim notification, but i'll figure out how to get rid of that soon enough. I would assume flashing a tmobile rom will do the trick

Never flash a ROM not meant for your device.
The Verizon phone looks for a cdma network that T-Mobile doesn't have, they use gsm. Two different technologies

You can flash roms from other provifders if the models are identical.
AT&T and T-Mobile roms can be flash back to back just make sure your modems are correct for your provider.
U CANT DO IT.
SELL UR GS3
AND FIND A TMO MODEL ON CRAIGSLIST!!!
I know it sucks, but thats just the way it.
Okay n00bs leave..
Seriously do some research before posting. My SPRINT HTC touch pro 2 works just fine on T-Mobile. So stop giving false info.
I found this. it may enable more than just roaming on GSM. I haven't read the entire thread or tried it myself well cause I has T-Mobile.
But it appears there may be some way to get it to work.
However from what I read.. seems you would be better off selling and buying T-Mobile (or possibly at&t if your area has T-Mobile 1900MHz) off Craigslist.

At&t phones operate on gsm. Make sure gosmart is a gsm carrier. Also, depending on the carrier, you may not see LTE speeds
Well i assume you would have to unlock it which is now illegal without carrier permission so you would have to call at&t and have them unlock if it doesn't already come unlocked
Gosmart uses a sim card( tmobile) but im not worried about lte speeds. What im worried is at&t claiming back their phone. Now this guya in craiglist says he bought the gs3 and then his job gave him the iphone, so he has no use for it. Will at&t will automatically unlock it when he got the iphone?

So I hear all 4G phones are Unlocked including contracts phones thru ATT, Verizon, and Sprint. Can someone confirm this?
To make things more interesting I hear you can even put a ATT sim on a Verizon phone. I know data wont be 4G LTE, but can you actually be able to get on the internet and make phone calls? This is insane lol
if anyone has any more information please let me know. Thanks

You may be able to flash this phone to straight talk or page plus but as far as unlocking it and using it as a gsm phone I don't think that will be possible because it only has CDMA radios. If I am wrong some one please correct me.

I was hoping to go to straight talk. I already bought a Sim from them.
How would I flash to straight talk?
Or Verizon prepaid... I have a donor phone for Verizon prepaid but I would prefer ST if possible.
My donor phone is the gusto 2 currently on $50 prepaid plan. I wouldn't mind 1x if that's all that comes wwith that plan. If I use vzw prepaid do I need a Sim? Do I need to flash?
Kinda rude to post a question and then state "I don't want to hear...". Have you tried Google? I recently started looking into going to straight talk and so far all I have found is that the Toro will not work with it. But I have not looked deeply yet. As old as this phone is, you should be able to find what you need by searching. And the development section is the wrong place for this.

From what I have read so far it depends on the phone. But again I haven't gotten far with my search. But you can go on straight talks website and enter in some information from your phone, and it will tell you if you can activate it. I'm thinking about a nexus 5 on straight talk.
