[Q] Suspected Bootloop - HTC One X

Hi guys,
I just tried to flash Kaos Droid V5.1.5 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2236343).
I did a factory reset, and wiped the cache, as well as formatting /boot, /cache, /data, /system (pretty sure that's not a good thing...) before flashing the provided rom and gapps. I followed that up by flashing the boot.img provided with the rom, before then restarting.
When trying the power the phone on, I get the HTC 'quietly brilliant' white screen, which then goes black, and loops back to the white screen. When trying to get into recovery, the phone goes the the white screen, goes black then gives me a flash of the CWM logo, before looping back to the white screen.
I've tried re-flashing the recovery (both CWM and TWRP), through the HTC All in One Kit, but that hasn't worked. I've also tried reflashing the boot.img.
Really not sure where to go from here...any help would be appreciated

Also at the top of the bootloader is:
***UNLOCKED***
ENDEAVORU PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT - 1.36.0000
CPLD - None
MICROP - None
RADIO - 5.1204.162.29

Did you also wiped the dalvik cache ?
And if that doesn't work ....try another rom. Your hboot suports them all so that's not the problem !

Just need to boot into recovery, cwm/twrp (think that's the name) then you can wipe cache from there.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app

Hold the power button and the volume down button together as long as it takes to reboot into the bootloader, go to the recovery from there and perform a full wipe again to be sure, don't forget the dalvik cache and reinstall the rom to be sure its a 100% install. In cwm recovery the dalvik cache is under the tab advanced.

Nevermind I fixed it using the all in one kit. I was asking about wiping cache because I couldnt access recovery, but oh well its all fixed now.
Thanks to everyone who replied

Oke good !

hi, boot in hboot power+volume down, enter recovery. use backup if you have one. if you dont mount sd card put on a clean asop like cyanogen or oxygen unmount wipe everything not sd card. and flash should be sorted. if you can not get into recovery your kinda screwed.

try boot into recovery with cmd
Code:
cd c:\android-sdk/tools

If that doesn't work you need a RUU, has to be the correct one for your phone... unless you've made a goldcard of course, in which case all you'd need to do is flash the latest WWE RUU

Same problem - stuck at boot screen after flashing ROM
Hello there,
I wanted to root my phone, & I think I have done everything I think I should.
1. Rooted using unrEVOked method.
2. Flashed AmonRA 2.0.1 recovery
3. S-OFF using AlphaRev 1.08
4. Installed CM7r2 hboot
5. Flashed the latest radio
I wanted to flash LeeDroid's ROM:

I also tried to flash these ROMs:

Everything went well up until first boot. It stuck at the boot screen! (Joker with S-OFF card)
Everytime before I flash a ROM, I:
1. Wiped ALL userdata
2. Wiped sd:ext
3. Wiped cache
4. Wiped dalvik cache
I thought the size of my previous SD Card (2GB) might be the cause, because I can't create enough partition size for Ext2 & Ext 3. I use MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition to partition my SD Card.
Therefore, I bought a 4GB SD Card to resolve the issue. Still not successful.
I did a Nandroid backup, but unfortunately when I wanted to restore to the stock Froyo, it also stuck at the boot screen! Backup was completed, but stuck at the boot screen.
I pulled the battery after at least 20 minutes at the boot screen.
My phone is:

Go to here http://developer.htc.com/adp.html and download fastboot.exe and put it in your c:\
Then, open command prompt, boot your phone into fastboot and plug it in via USB.
Type in:

This will boot you into recovery, if it works..

if you're using clockworkmod recovery, go to mounts and storage, and wipe everything apart from the sd-card (so wipe: boot, system, cache, userdata, sd-ext) Then try flashing again.
if you're not using clock, in fastboot USB, open cmd and type
Code:
cd c:\android-sdk/tools
fastboot wipe boot
fastboot wipe system
fastboot wipe userdata
fastboot wipe cache
fastboot wipe sd-ext (not sure about that one, never done that command with cmd over fastboot so might be wrong lol)
fastboot oem gencheckpt
I flashed a ROM - finally!
Finally!
I achieved success after a week or so trying.
I decided to flash a Gingerbread AOSP, & in the FAQ, the developer (Faryaab) said since I have my device S-OFF, I don't have to flash the build with A2SD.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1079469
After 1 try, it works!
Thank god. No more stuck at the boot screen.

What do you mean by fastboot boot .img???
Here are the correct steps:
1. Find a good compatible rom for your phone and put it on sd card.
2. Go to recovery.
3. Wipe factory/data.
4. Wipe again just in case.
5. Wipe davlic cache.
6. Wipe battery stats.
7. Install ROM.
8. Install GAPPS.
9. Reboot. Give it some 10 minutes to boot fully at max.

I have done this based on the tutorials I've read on the forum which state that when the bootloader is HTCdev unlocked, one must always use the fastboot command to boot the boot.img after flashing a new custom ROM. However, the phone is still not booting, it stays on the white screen with the HTC logo. Tutorial - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1752270
Here are the correct steps:
1. Find a good compatible rom for your phone and put it on sd card.

I have a similar problem. I rooted by phone old-school and then flashed CM9 and it worked perfectly but then I got a Class 4 8GB card and CM9 would not boot with that card so I tried flashing it again but it still doesn't boot, though if I flash CM9 with my 2GB card, it does work.
I would appreciate any help.
Either your Wildfire S is a 2012 one or your sd card is corrupt, like the guy above.
Most likely it's problem no. 1.

Yeah, I live in Pakistan and they don't have any 8GB cards other than Class 4 ones.
So I just have to work with a 4GB one.

[Q] tried Flashing and a new ROM >> BOOT LOOPS

Hello, i tried to put a new rom on my phone.
First i unlocked the bootloader with One_X_All-In-One_Kit_v2.3. that worked. Then i loaded CWM ( v 5.8.4.0) on my phone (that works).
Then i downloaded the cm-10.1-20130331-NIGHTLY-endeavoru. Put that one on my SD card, extracted the boot.img. used fastboot and it commands. Installed it and gapps-jb-20120726-signed too. Did the wipes. But the phones keeps hanging at the HTC logo and doesnt boot anymore. If i hold the power button it just reboots en hangs. I can get into HBOOT ( 1.39.0000)

Re: [Q] tried Flashing and a new ROM >> BOOT LOOPS
You need to install the vendors installer too
http://db.tt/u5FF3jgi
So its full wipe then install
Cm10.1
Gapps
Vendors
Will i tried it again with the Android Revolution HD 19.2, the phone booted now past the HTC quietly brilliant logo but hung at the HTC ONE Beats Audio logo. Started it up again..and it boots. BUT the screen doesnt respond anymore? I cant type my pincode...?
Well tried the CM 10.1 because my screen didnt seem to work with the Revolution version.....did all u said above....We are back to square one, the phone hangs at HTC quietly brilliant logo.

Re: [Q] tried Flashing and a new ROM >> BOOT LOOPS
Then you might be forgetting something to wipe ?
Factory reset
Wipe cache partition
Advanced - wipe dalvik cache
Mounts & storage - format cache, data, system
Then install the CM10.1, Gapps, Vendors (without rebooting !!!)
Head down to the bootloader, type this in the command window :
Adb reboot bootloader (at this point you are still in the recovery)
Then flash the boot.img again.make sure you override the right boot.img to the fastboot folder !
Fastboot erase cache
Fastboot flash boot boot.img
Fastboot erase cache
Fastboot reboot
If you do it like this it must boot up normally.
Edit : David, please stop repeating me in posts ..... its starting to get annoying. I already told him to install the vendors . Thank you.

I originally went through a lot of roms until I was happy to stay on CyanogenMod (can't remember which version)
recently it said there was a stable update so I downloaded it, flashed and it wouldn't get past the bootloop. In my fear and stupidity I wiped my phone without taking a backup of the version that was working on my phone, I reflashed the recovery to many different versions that wouldn't even allow me to open the phone up to USB. Thankfully I've got a version of clockworkmod touch recovery that allowed me to open it again, but every rom I try to flash on now it still sticks on the bootloop. I'm even fastbooting the image over.
The ClockworkMod Recovery version that I'm using (which is working) is v5.8.4.0
So, what am I missing, is this absolutely broken now or is this fixable?
Thank you.
Flash the boot.img from the new rom, enter the recovery and make a full wipe, then install the rom.zip

So I went to do a full wipe, including cache and dalvik cache, and it came back with
E:unknown volume for path [/sd-ext]
Dalvik wiped
Do you think this may be part of the problem?
I followed through and installed as you said and it didn't come back with any other errors and said install from sdcard complete. I rebooted and waited but it's still just sitting on the HTC quietly brilliant screen.
The rom I tried was cm-10.1.2-endeavoru

I tried [ROM]InsertCoin 19.0-4 | SENSE 5 | JellyBean 4.2.2 | 4.18.401.2
it went through the procedure of installing, saying everything went fine, I even fastbooted the boot.img both before and after.
Interestingly it loaded to the htc quietly brilliant screen, restarted itself but now it's back to just sitting on that screen again.
What should I try next?
You are missing something or forgetting something.
Flash the boot.img :
Fastboot flash boot boot.img
Fastboot erase cache
Full wipe =
Wipe caches/dalvik caches
Factory reset
Format cache, data and system
Then install the rom.zip and reboot

I almost feel too stupid to respond, I had done the fastboot boot incorrectly.

I brought my phone to a Phone fix store..instead off 1 day repair..he tryed 1 week to repair it. He also used ODIN..but the Phone stopped everytime ay 80% en then the Phone recovered itself en was hanging in de android image startup mode.
Conclusion: R.i.P. my htc one X. It was easier on the htc desire
Does anybody now if i can save my files on the internal sd card..like foto's, adresses etc.
Maybe in windows safe mode..of something like that...i don't know.
