I confirm the phone rooted. I've used HTCdev to unlock the bootloader.
Problem: Phone does not boot after installing a custom ROM.
Steps:
1) Wipe data/factory reset
2) Wipe cache partition
3) Wipe Dalvik Cache
4) Install CM7.2 or CM9
5) Install Google Apps
6) Fastboot boot.img
7) Restart phone
8) Phone does not boot. It shows a white screen with the HTC logo.
9) Take out battery, wait five minutes, insert battery turn back on. Wait 25 minutes at the white screen with the HTC logo.
10) Tried it with Clockwordmod 5.0.2.6 and 5.0.2.8
Does anyone know what the problem is?

What do you mean by fastboot boot .img???
Here are the correct steps:
1. Find a good compatible rom for your phone and put it on sd card.
2. Go to recovery.
3. Wipe factory/data.
4. Wipe again just in case.
5. Wipe davlic cache.
6. Wipe battery stats.
7. Install ROM.
8. Install GAPPS.
9. Reboot. Give it some 10 minutes to boot fully at max.

I have done this based on the tutorials I've read on the forum which state that when the bootloader is HTCdev unlocked, one must always use the fastboot command to boot the boot.img after flashing a new custom ROM. However, the phone is still not booting, it stays on the white screen with the HTC logo. Tutorial - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1752270

This procedure is what I've done the first couple times before going on to search the forums and try the fastboot boot.img.

That's One S's tutorial.

I have tried many custom roms on my wfs.... but i never flashed biit. img.... try skipping that part... it may work

same problem
I have a similar problem. I rooted by phone old-school and then flashed CM9 and it worked perfectly but then I got a Class 4 8GB card and CM9 would not boot with that card so I tried flashing it again but it still doesn't boot, though if I flash CM9 with my 2GB card, it does work.
I would appreciate any help.

Either your Wildfire S is a 2012 one or your sd card is corrupt, like the guy above.
Most likely it's problem no. 1.
Sent from my HTC Wildfire S A510e using Tapatalk 2

Yeah, I live in Pakistan and they don't have any 8GB cards other than Class 4 ones.
So I just have to work with a 4GB one.

hi, boot in hboot power+volume down, enter recovery. use backup if you have one. if you dont mount sd card put on a clean asop like cyanogen or oxygen unmount wipe everything not sd card. and flash should be sorted. if you can not get into recovery your kinda screwed.

try boot into recovery with cmd
Code:
cd c:\android-sdk/tools

If that doesn't work you need a RUU, has to be the correct one for your phone... unless you've made a goldcard of course, in which case all you'd need to do is flash the latest WWE RUU

Same problem - stuck at boot screen after flashing ROM
Hello there,
I wanted to root my phone, & I think I have done everything I think I should.
1. Rooted using unrEVOked method.
2. Flashed AmonRA 2.0.1 recovery
3. S-OFF using AlphaRev 1.08
4. Installed CM7r2 hboot
5. Flashed the latest radio
I wanted to flash LeeDroid's ROM:

I also tried to flash these ROMs:

Everything went well up until first boot. It stuck at the boot screen! (Joker with S-OFF card)
Everytime before I flash a ROM, I:
1. Wiped ALL userdata
2. Wiped sd:ext
3. Wiped cache
4. Wiped dalvik cache
I thought the size of my previous SD Card (2GB) might be the cause, because I can't create enough partition size for Ext2 & Ext 3. I use MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition to partition my SD Card.
Therefore, I bought a 4GB SD Card to resolve the issue. Still not successful.
I did a Nandroid backup, but unfortunately when I wanted to restore to the stock Froyo, it also stuck at the boot screen! Backup was completed, but stuck at the boot screen.
I pulled the battery after at least 20 minutes at the boot screen.

Go to here http://developer.htc.com/adp.html and download fastboot.exe and put it in your c:\
Then, open command prompt, boot your phone into fastboot and plug it in via USB.
Type in:

This will boot you into recovery, if it works..

if you're using clockworkmod recovery, go to mounts and storage, and wipe everything apart from the sd-card (so wipe: boot, system, cache, userdata, sd-ext) Then try flashing again.
if you're not using clock, in fastboot USB, open cmd and type
Code:
cd c:\android-sdk/tools
fastboot wipe boot
fastboot wipe system
fastboot wipe userdata
fastboot wipe cache
fastboot wipe sd-ext (not sure about that one, never done that command with cmd over fastboot so might be wrong lol)
fastboot oem gencheckpt
I flashed a ROM - finally!
Finally!
I achieved success after a week or so trying.
I decided to flash a Gingerbread AOSP, & in the FAQ, the developer (Faryaab) said since I have my device S-OFF, I don't have to flash the build with A2SD.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1079469
After 1 try, it works!
Thank god. No more stuck at the boot screen.

Steps followed to flash ROMs,
1. Backup current nandroid
2. Delete cache, delete user data, delete dalvik cache
3. Reboot
4. Install ROM
5. Install the rom converter.zip
6. Reboot
I tried the following ROMs and each had there own issues,
1. Cool3D-AceS-v6-bravo - After flashing HTC logo, it shows "Quitely Brilliant" text and device reboots. This repeats endless times unless its brutally switched off by removing battery.
2. Cool3D-Runny-v5-bravo - After flashing HTC logo, it shows "Quitely Brilliant" text and also shows beat animation. By time I felt everything is gonna be alright, screen goes blank and remains dead. Again this needs brutal switch.
3. Blink v1.0 - After reboot, screen hangs showing HTC logo.
For all the above ROMs, i waited patiently for about 45mins only to see HTC logo...
Currently I am using Revolutionary CWM v4.0.1.4 for recovery.
Lastly and sadly I have restore "Android 2.3 Upgrade" (Gingerbread) to get my device back in shape.
Folks anybody can help me on this............
Thanks in advance,
SMK
Did you create an ext partition on your SD card?
The essential requirement for all these ROMs is a sdcard partitioned to xx FAT32 + 1gb Ext4.
If there is no Ext4 partition, it won't work.
Thanks Guys, It worked....
Had to wipe cache and flash stock_hboot later..........

Flashing new custom rom, issue

Hi Guys!
My HTC Desire Bravo is on Insertcoin 2.3.3 V1.1.4, and I'm having some stability issue (sometimes phone freeze, battery is not that great). I want to change to CM7.1.0! Here:s what I did:
-Downloaded rom, backup my IC rom, Backup data with titanuim pro
-Put the rom at the root of my SD card
-Selected the option to Wipe data/factory reset.
-Then selected the option to Wipe cache partition.
-Then Flashed CM7 rom.
Rebooted, Stuck on alpharev S-OFF screen , after more than 5-10 mins.
Do I miss something?
Thanks for any help
maybe also try to wipe dalvik cache!
Okay I'll give a try.
By the way, for CM7, no need EXT4 partition on the SD card? I had one for the IC rom.
Thanks
Does cm7 roms work on all hboots ? Or does it only run on certain hboots like data ++ or cm7 r2 ??? You can check that too !

What is ur custom recovery? CWM or 4ext.
and the HBOOT table?
format all partitions (4ext) or format /system, /data, /SD-Ext and also wipe cache and dalvik cache.
then install the rom.

No problem to have that ext4. You may need to run darktremor's app2sd later on then you need to have that ext4.
Hi! It's CWM
for the HBoot, ummm how can I tell?
Should I just reflash the hboot for CM7 R2? I'm not sure the one I have.
Go to the fastboot or bootloader. power off the device and hold down power+volume down button for 3 sec and u will enter the bootloader. what does it say?

cause I see I would have much more storage for APP.

Read http://alpharev.nl/ for the hboot flashing tut.
Thanks.
I tried with the PB99IMG_cm7r2 renamed to PB99IMG.zip and it says Model ID incorrect. :/
tried it via fastboot?
2) Verify the MD5SUM of the file you downloaded against the one in the table.
3) Flash HBOOT with your phone in fastboot mode (Back+POWER) -> 'fastboot flash hboot bravo_alphaspl.img' (change into the correct filename for the HBOOT you downloaded)
4) 'fastboot reboot-bootloader'
5) 'fastboot erase cache'
6) Boot recovery, wipe everything and restore.
I'm not sure how to do it. First time I did the hboot was like 6 months ago xD

if you got fastboot and drivers you can do it there as well... follow instructions as you posted

[Q] Total block my wildfire s

Hello.
I have my wildfire that's practically 2 days ago that no
Continuous reboot of the white HTC screen.
All this because I moved some app on sd system
(link2sd, s-on, root, gold card,) having an urgent need for space,
seen that the partition was over 1gb ext. result:
almost 350 apps, many even expensive, its saved data, photos,
videos, notes etc.. all gone, with the joke that is not restarted.
I tried with bootloader, recovery, custom rom, hard reset etc.,
no nothing. What do I do? I throw it in for service since
will realize modding, or someone you know give me some advice?
Thank you for your attention.
Sorry for my English
try wiping dalkiv first, i think that's often problem that causes bootloops...
but if it's because you've lost some system apps, you might need to comoletely re-install system from scratch?
don't worry about your paid apps, once you get the system up and running again, you can re-load your google account and get them all back
Hello and thank you for attention.
The problem is that in recovery mode does not gives me the chance to wipe.
Not even hard reset works. I tried to install custom ROM without any results. I want to reinstall everything from scratch, is it possible?
thanks
as long as you can get to the recovery menu you should be ok.
when you press and hold volume down and power then choose recovery...what screen do you get to? is it a custom recovery like CWM (clockworkmod) or is it the stock htc recovery (which just shows some sort of caution logo i believe).
if you have only thehtc stock recovery, you need to get a PG76IMG.zip for custom recovery and put this on the root of your memory card, then restart the phone with volume down+power and it should start reading the PG76IMG.zip and install custom recovery.....
from here you'll have all the options you need to wipe everything etc...
once you have this up and running, what i tend to do if everything has gone wrong is to wipe EVERYTHING and start from scratch.
I go into mounts and storage and format everything, then coem out, choose wipe data/factory reset, then choose wipe cache, then advanced, wipe dalvik, wipe battery stats, fix permissions...
then turn off phone, choose factory reset from the bootloader menu, then bot into reovery again to install custom rom or stock rom.
hope this makes some sort of sense, this is all jsut off the top of my head mind.... :s
thanks now I try and let you know
I tried in bootloader mode with cwm recovery 5.0.2.8, and returns to the bootloader.
I installed the file pg761img. It reads CID incorrect.
Finally factory reset is accessible only in bootloader, because the device always crashes on htc white screen and when I do not restart the time.
What do you think?
if you are getting cid error, i think it means you need to make "goldcard" in order to use pg761img.zip to flash custom recovery
he should install the RUU it is stickied its gonna put your phone back to stock as if you just bought it from the store

^^^^^^this
may also still need to make goldcard though, I think I had to when I wanted to use RUU.
if you can't get around some RUU errors though, you can try using the rom.zip from the ruu, extract boot.img and system.img and use fastboot at command prompt to flash them?
no root
Help root permissions that are not forthcoming, now that a friend of mine put it back in place, I can not swirling.
I tried more than once with htc supertool v3 but no dice. I noticed, looking at the phone info
and the bootloader screen, some differences related to the rom and radio than before.
But I think the phone has the unlocked bootloader. Suggestions?

try installing root.zip from cwm recovery
ok now I try. I would explain the process please? I am afraid to make a 'more trouble
just boot into cwm recovery (which i'm presuming you have installed already? if not, just use any of the tutorials, you're s-off so should have no problem insatlling custom recovery using tutorial).
put root.zip on your sd card
boot into recovery by holding volume down and press power, then scroll to "recovery" and press power to select.
once in custom recovery, select to install zip fom sd card, select to choose zip file and choose the root.zip
no need to wipe anything, just install then reboot system and confirm it's working by launching app "superuser" and attempt to update from within the app....if it updates it will say "that was cool, do it again?"....else it will say "update failed, retry".
GAPPS disappeared
Hi, I finally solved the problem, but I have created a 'more. I installed the cwm recovery, followed by recovery I installed the zip file root. Everything perfect, it is installed superuser and then I installed from market to link link2sd 8gb sd (6.40 gb fat32 - 64mb-1gb ext3 linux swap) some apps including GMail, MARKET, MAPS AND SEARCH. The problem is that they are gone after a cleanup of the cache and the data, I also tried to install some packages from the recovery GAPPS do not install them. Some help?
if your apps are missing maybe sounds like the ext partition is bot being mounted?
run link2sd and there is an option to "recreate mont scripts", be sure to choose the correct partition type that you have created e.g. ext2, ext3, or ext4?

I originally went through a lot of roms until I was happy to stay on CyanogenMod (can't remember which version)
recently it said there was a stable update so I downloaded it, flashed and it wouldn't get past the bootloop. In my fear and stupidity I wiped my phone without taking a backup of the version that was working on my phone, I reflashed the recovery to many different versions that wouldn't even allow me to open the phone up to USB. Thankfully I've got a version of clockworkmod touch recovery that allowed me to open it again, but every rom I try to flash on now it still sticks on the bootloop. I'm even fastbooting the image over.
The ClockworkMod Recovery version that I'm using (which is working) is v5.8.4.0
So, what am I missing, is this absolutely broken now or is this fixable?
Thank you.

Dalvik wiped
Do you think this may be part of the problem?
I followed through and installed as you said and it didn't come back with any other errors and said install from sdcard complete. I rebooted and waited but it's still just sitting on the HTC quietly brilliant screen.
The rom I tried was cm-10.1.2-endeavoru

it went through the procedure of installing, saying everything went fine, I even fastbooted the boot.img both before and after.
Interestingly it loaded to the htc quietly brilliant screen, restarted itself but now it's back to just sitting on that screen again.
What should I try next?
You are missing something or forgetting something.
Flash the boot.img :
Fastboot flash boot boot.img
Fastboot erase cache
Full wipe =
Wipe caches/dalvik caches
Factory reset
Format cache, data and system
Then install the rom.zip and reboot

I almost feel too stupid to respond, I had done the fastboot boot incorrectly.
I had typed fastboot boot boot.ing missing out the flash.
Thank you for your time, I had missed something. Saved me from a lot of future money trouble right there.
Ah good, mistakes are made easily. Good it works now !
