Flashing new custom rom, issue - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Guys!
My HTC Desire Bravo is on Insertcoin 2.3.3 V1.1.4, and I'm having some stability issue (sometimes phone freeze, battery is not that great). I want to change to CM7.1.0! Here:s what I did:
-Downloaded rom, backup my IC rom, Backup data with titanuim pro
-Put the rom at the root of my SD card
-Selected the option to Wipe data/factory reset.
-Then selected the option to Wipe cache partition.
-Then Flashed CM7 rom.
Rebooted, Stuck on alpharev S-OFF screen , after more than 5-10 mins.
Do I miss something?
Thanks for any help

maybe also try to wipe dalvik cache!

Okay I'll give a try.
By the way, for CM7, no need EXT4 partition on the SD card? I had one for the IC rom.
Thanks

Does cm7 roms work on all hboots ? Or does it only run on certain hboots like data ++ or cm7 r2 ??? You can check that too !
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App

What is ur custom recovery? CWM or 4ext.
and the HBOOT table?
format all partitions (4ext) or format /system, /data, /SD-Ext and also wipe cache and dalvik cache.
then install the rom.

No problem to have that ext4. You may need to run darktremor's app2sd later on then you need to have that ext4.

Hi! It's CWM
for the HBoot, ummm how can I tell?
Should I just reflash the hboot for CM7 R2? I'm not sure the one I have.

Go to the fastboot or bootloader. power off the device and hold down power+volume down button for 3 sec and u will enter the bootloader. what does it say?

You are most welcome my friend.

hey How do I flash the Bravo CM7 r2 again?
cause I see I would have much more storage for APP.
Thanks

Read http://alpharev.nl/ for the hboot flashing tut.

Thanks.
I tried with the PB99IMG_cm7r2 renamed to PB99IMG.zip and it says Model ID incorrect. :/

tried it via fastboot?

2) Verify the MD5SUM of the file you downloaded against the one in the table.
3) Flash HBOOT with your phone in fastboot mode (Back+POWER) -> 'fastboot flash hboot bravo_alphaspl.img' (change into the correct filename for the HBOOT you downloaded)
4) 'fastboot reboot-bootloader'
5) 'fastboot erase cache'
6) Boot recovery, wipe everything and restore.
I'm not sure how to do it. First time I did the hboot was like 6 months ago xD
I need android flasher? Sorry about that, I'm stilla newbi

you can use android flasher...
if you got fastboot and drivers you can do it there as well... follow instructions as you posted
just before you do anything try
fastboot devices
if pc sees your phone

Thanks. I got now 219mb free space. Sweet.
Now I have a bug which my phone always restart for nothing. I'll try to wipe, reflash, reboot, setting up, reboot then flash google app, then reboot

just to let you know that now it seems to be fine.
reinstalling my backuped app.
Thanks for yoru time I'll wait ICS in stable

By being here, what is the best script to move app to an EXT4 partitioN? I saw the S2E, Darktremor app2sd.. is there any other?

[Q] HTC Desire - S-OFF/Root after ROM install with freezing!!!

Hi All,
I hope somebody can help me in case of following issue.
After some months I decided I try to install "not original ROM" to the phone.
After I read many instructions I started S-Off (Software: Alpharevx) root (Software: Unrevoked) - I didn't have any special problem with them based on the instructions.
After that I see following in Hboot menu of the phone:
"BRAVO PVT4 SHIP S-OFF
HBOOT-6.93.1002
MICROP-051d
TOUCHPANEL-SYNT0101
RADIO-5.11.05.27
AUG 10 2010, 17:52:18"
I chose more ROMs to decide which is the best for me. I installed the first one, the phone restarted and it was frozen at the "HTC logo" (with white screen).
I thought the ROM is wrong, so I tried all, but I met same problem.
One time the system (android) loaded and started, but after the first restart it was also frozen at the "HTC logo". I installed back the original ROM, and it works well.
My questions: What did I do wrong or why it freeze always? I forgot one step, etc.?
Thank you for the help!
Uttika
You probably forgot to partition SD Card, most ROM's requires ext2/3/4 partition usually 512MB+, though some needs 1gb+.
There is loads of partitioning guides, i advice to do it with gParted, if you're not comfortable with linux then try recovery from my signature, you'll do it with few clicks.
If you dont know how to flash recovery, download this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=661317&stc=1&d=1311251519
Put it onto your sdcard (not any folders, just root of the SD), rename it to "PB99IMG.zip" or PB99IMG if you have file extensions disabled in windows, and boot into bootloader. (hold vol- and power)
Will ask if you want to update, accept. Go into recovery and make an 1GB EXT3 partition, now flash the ROM you want.
Ofcourse full wipe/factory reset and dalvik cache wipe before you flash new ROM.
Yeah, I also like to use fastboot commander (requires java JDK) to wipe boot, system, userdata, cache and sd-ext.. it's a more extensive wipe than just wiping userdata/ factory reset and ROM's either always seem to work better or it's maybe just a placebo effect
I think the version of the RADIO is old.
I have a new, but I do not know how to install it.
I would like to ask for help.
What programs do i need and where can I download it.
Thank you very much.
use the links in the post above to get fastboot commander, and a newer radio (from official GB update) is in my signature.
Download fastboot commander, boot into fastboot mode, select radio, browse for the radio.img then flash radio. And you're done, it takes a few seconds and I have to remind you to check the md5 because you can brick your phone if it goes bad. so do not interrupt it.

Change the room

Hey guys. I just wanted to tell u that am in Cyangonen room and my cell phone is already s-off and I did the partion to internal memory for Cm r2 but I want to try another room which is muiu room. But I can't flash it through recovery. Is it because of the partion? If yes; how can I flash it again?
Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk
Why you cant flash it, any error?
Make sure you configured your sd card corresponding to the miui version you flash.
when using the cm7 hboot you need to flash the market cache fix after you flash the ROM.. and if you're unable to flash it through recovery I'd try turning off signature verification (in advanced settings).
If I were you I'd use the Data++ hboot for MIUI though.. worked better for me on that. And always remember to check the MD5Sums when flashing hboots, as a corrupted file can brick your phone.

and +1 to that, you need an EXT partition, you can use gparted or minitool partition wizard. I'd recommend EXT4 since it's meant to give better performance, but cation: not all ROM's support EXT4

Thank you so much sir.
But i used the CM R2 partion, can i use the data++ partion on the it from flashing it through recovery?
if yes how?
because I was thinking to make the phone s-on again and use the room then i'll make it s-off again and do the partion thing?
Do u think this will work??
Thanks you again
If you have 1 EXT partition make sure you are flashing A2SD version.
Also full wipe/factory reset & dalvik wipe prior to flashing new ROM.

you don't need to go S-ON and then back to S-OFF to change the hboot..
visit www.alpharev.nl and flash it through FASTBOOT NOT recovery
and again, remember to check the MD5 with the tool I gave you!!!

how can i flash it through the fastboot?!!! i only know how to do it through the recovery?
Thanks dude
you can either do it with cmd or you can use fastboot commander to do it, fastboot commander would be easier as it has a GUI that is easy to work with, however it requires Java JDK and Android SDK. It's use is pretty self explanatory, so you should understand how to use it pretty easily.
If you would like to do it through cmd (also requires android sdk.. or at least fastboot.exe) then put your downloaded hboot.img into c:\ and type:
Code:
cd c:\android-sdk/tools
fastboot flash hboot c:\bravo_alphaspl-data.img
fasboot reboot bootloader
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot
"bravo_alphaspl-data" is the name of the hboot, that will obviously change if you want to flash a different hboot
Also, the fact that it's not installing *might* somehow be a recovery problem... I'd replace it just in case lol (I'd recommend the one from my signature), download it and put it in c:\
Code:
cd c:\android-sdk/tools
fastboot erase recovery
fastboot flash recovery c:\recovery-RA-desire-v2.0.0.img
Note: if you downloaded the CM "themed" recovery then it will be called "recovery-RA-desire-v2.0.0-CM.img" instead.

If that doesn't work you need a RUU, has to be the correct one for your phone... unless you've made a goldcard of course, in which case all you'd need to do is flash the latest WWE RUU

Same problem - stuck at boot screen after flashing ROM
Hello there,
I wanted to root my phone, & I think I have done everything I think I should.
1. Rooted using unrEVOked method.
2. Flashed AmonRA 2.0.1 recovery
3. S-OFF using AlphaRev 1.08
4. Installed CM7r2 hboot
5. Flashed the latest radio

I also tried to flash these ROMs:

Everything went well up until first boot. It stuck at the boot screen! (Joker with S-OFF card)
Everytime before I flash a ROM, I:
1. Wiped ALL userdata
2. Wiped sd:ext
3. Wiped cache
4. Wiped dalvik cache
I thought the size of my previous SD Card (2GB) might be the cause, because I can't create enough partition size for Ext2 & Ext 3. I use MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition to partition my SD Card.
Therefore, I bought a 4GB SD Card to resolve the issue. Still not successful.
I did a Nandroid backup, but unfortunately when I wanted to restore to the stock Froyo, it also stuck at the boot screen! Backup was completed, but stuck at the boot screen.
I pulled the battery after at least 20 minutes at the boot screen.

if you're using clockworkmod recovery, go to mounts and storage, and wipe everything apart from the sd-card (so wipe: boot, system, cache, userdata, sd-ext) Then try flashing again.
if you're not using clock, in fastboot USB, open cmd and type
Code:
cd c:\android-sdk/tools
fastboot wipe boot
fastboot wipe system
fastboot wipe userdata
fastboot wipe cache
fastboot wipe sd-ext (not sure about that one, never done that command with cmd over fastboot so might be wrong lol)
fastboot oem gencheckpt
I flashed a ROM - finally!
Finally!
I achieved success after a week or so trying.
I decided to flash a Gingerbread AOSP, & in the FAQ, the developer (Faryaab) said since I have my device S-OFF, I don't have to flash the build with A2SD.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1079469
After 1 try, it works!
Thank god. No more stuck at the boot screen.

Desire bricked, fastboot works, no adb

Hi,
Yesterday I bought a noname battery for my desire and charged whole night. That worked at about 21 but was frozen in the morning. Boot stucked at green HTC logo. ADB gives "device not found" with all kind of drivers, tried htc and unrevoked drivers also. Phone shows fastboot usb and hboot usb plug when connected. ClockworkMod recovery 4.0.1.4 works but I mounted USB storage in recovery and tried to copy on that, it works with small files under 10Mb but fails with larger ones. I copied cm7.2.zip to sdcard via card reader and pc than tried to install zip, but CM7.2 could not be installed because of error in zip message. "opening update package - installing update - status3 - installation aborted"
just tried to restore an old backup but it said md5 checksum error
looks like sdreader is buggy, i have already tried at least 3-4 cards but same result
any ide what should i do?
thanks

Q & A
This has nothing to do with developement you should asked that in q&a area -.-
but i'd try to wipe battery stats in recovery mod
RIP
if you really want to give it ago to fix, start from scratch... I had to do this recently... after a rom upgrade, and nandroids didnt work n recovery was being wierd... anyway...
fastboot erase all partitions (that was the cure for me as tried other steps already b4 doing this)
flash new recovery
partition SDcard using gparted (to be honest i used 4ext recovery but gparted if still having sd issues - backup too )
flash rom
thank the lord you still had fastboot
EDIT yea and move it q&a....
I have already tried to flash 4ext recovery from fastboot without luck
I could partition the sdcardin CWM but it was so slow.
Any other idea?
I can not believe it is dead.
Scroll down a few posts in Desire General and ul find a thread by me and it has 4ext recovery as PB99IMG
Instructions r there too on how to install it
Sent from my HTC Desire
Did u wipe the recovery (in my case all of them) partition first? Because I was having trouble doing it n the zip wasn't being picked up by the boot for some unknown reason... which I later found out was coz I didn't check the md5s...

jmcclue thanks for your recommendation
PB99IMG.zip worked, 4ext could be flashed (and i see i got Alpharev CM7 r2)
in 4ext I have tried the USB Uubrick, wiped cache and dalvik, formatted system, boot and data, wiped battery stats
partitioned sdcard (Fat32+1024Mb sd-ext) but got frozen screen or shut down when selected EXT3 or EXT4 filesystem or tried to format sd-ext
any more tips?
Wow iv never heard of 4ext recovery fail at partitioning sdcard. Try just format ur sdcard to all fat 32. Just go to partition sdcard/ remove all partitions and start from scratch then
Skip
Skip
Skip
And that will leave u all fat 32 then try partition it again and choose
1024
Skip
Skip
Then ext4
Could be a dodgy sdcard, try a different 1 if this fails.

i could flash recovery and hboot (run fastboot oem writesecureflag 3 command and got error) but still shows s-off so warranty off

What do you mean by fastboot boot .img???
Here are the correct steps:
1. Find a good compatible rom for your phone and put it on sd card.
2. Go to recovery.
3. Wipe factory/data.
4. Wipe again just in case.
5. Wipe davlic cache.
6. Wipe battery stats.

I have done this based on the tutorials I've read on the forum which state that when the bootloader is HTCdev unlocked, one must always use the fastboot command to boot the boot.img after flashing a new custom ROM. However, the phone is still not booting, it stays on the white screen with the HTC logo. Tutorial - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1752270

I have a similar problem. I rooted by phone old-school and then flashed CM9 and it worked perfectly but then I got a Class 4 8GB card and CM9 would not boot with that card so I tried flashing it again but it still doesn't boot, though if I flash CM9 with my 2GB card, it does work.
I would appreciate any help.
Either your Wildfire S is a 2012 one or your sd card is corrupt, like the guy above.
Most likely it's problem no. 1.

Yeah, I live in Pakistan and they don't have any 8GB cards other than Class 4 ones.
So I just have to work with a 4GB one.
