Hi All,
I hope somebody can help me in case of following issue.
After some months I decided I try to install "not original ROM" to the phone.
After I read many instructions I started S-Off (Software: Alpharevx) root (Software: Unrevoked) - I didn't have any special problem with them based on the instructions.
After that I see following in Hboot menu of the phone:
"BRAVO PVT4 SHIP S-OFF
HBOOT-6.93.1002
MICROP-051d
TOUCHPANEL-SYNT0101
RADIO-5.11.05.27
AUG 10 2010, 17:52:18"
I chose more ROMs to decide which is the best for me. I installed the first one, the phone restarted and it was frozen at the "HTC logo" (with white screen).
I thought the ROM is wrong, so I tried all, but I met same problem.
One time the system (android) loaded and started, but after the first restart it was also frozen at the "HTC logo". I installed back the original ROM, and it works well.
My questions: What did I do wrong or why it freeze always? I forgot one step, etc.?
Thank you for the help!
Uttika
You probably forgot to partition SD Card, most ROM's requires ext2/3/4 partition usually 512MB+, though some needs 1gb+.
There is loads of partitioning guides, i advice to do it with gParted, if you're not comfortable with linux then try recovery from my signature, you'll do it with few clicks.
If you dont know how to flash recovery, download this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=661317&stc=1&d=1311251519
Put it onto your sdcard (not any folders, just root of the SD), rename it to "PB99IMG.zip" or PB99IMG if you have file extensions disabled in windows, and boot into bootloader. (hold vol- and power)
Will ask if you want to update, accept. Go into recovery and make an 1GB EXT3 partition, now flash the ROM you want.
Ofcourse full wipe/factory reset and dalvik cache wipe before you flash new ROM.
Yeah, I also like to use fastboot commander (requires java JDK) to wipe boot, system, userdata, cache and sd-ext.. it's a more extensive wipe than just wiping userdata/ factory reset and ROM's either always seem to work better or it's maybe just a placebo effect
I think the version of the RADIO is old.
I have a new, but I do not know how to install it.
I would like to ask for help.
What programs do i need and where can I download it.
Thank you very much.
use the links in the post above to get fastboot commander, and a newer radio (from official GB update) is in my signature.
Download fastboot commander, boot into fastboot mode, select radio, browse for the radio.img then flash radio. And you're done, it takes a few seconds and I have to remind you to check the md5 because you can brick your phone if it goes bad. so do not interrupt it.

hi, boot in hboot power+volume down, enter recovery. use backup if you have one. if you dont mount sd card put on a clean asop like cyanogen or oxygen unmount wipe everything not sd card. and flash should be sorted. if you can not get into recovery your kinda screwed.

try boot into recovery with cmd
Code:
cd c:\android-sdk/tools
fastboot oem gencheckpt
If that doesn't work you need a RUU, has to be the correct one for your phone... unless you've made a goldcard of course, in which case all you'd need to do is flash the latest WWE RUU
You're in the wrong section, all questions should be posted in the q&a section. Read the rules.

If you can then take it to the nearest HTC service center, they will tell you whether it's motherboard malfunctioning or not..
I've got mine from UK and it's got the same problem and examined to have motherboard issues..

Same problem - stuck at boot screen after flashing ROM
Hello there,
I wanted to root my phone, & I think I have done everything I think I should.
1. Rooted using unrEVOked method.
2. Flashed AmonRA 2.0.1 recovery
3. S-OFF using AlphaRev 1.08
4. Installed CM7r2 hboot
5. Flashed the latest radio
I wanted to flash LeeDroid's ROM:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1038195
I also tried to flash these ROMs:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1054435
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1040121
Everything went well up until first boot. It stuck at the boot screen! (Joker with S-OFF card)
Everytime before I flash a ROM, I:
1. Wiped ALL userdata
2. Wiped sd:ext
3. Wiped cache
4. Wiped dalvik cache
I thought the size of my previous SD Card (2GB) might be the cause, because I can't create enough partition size for Ext2 & Ext 3. I use MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition to partition my SD Card.
Therefore, I bought a 4GB SD Card to resolve the issue. Still not successful.
I did a Nandroid backup, but unfortunately when I wanted to restore to the stock Froyo, it also stuck at the boot screen! Backup was completed, but stuck at the boot screen.
I pulled the battery after at least 20 minutes at the boot screen.
My phone is:

Alright dude, just calm down and it'll be a lot easier and clearer to you. Trust me.
Go to here http://developer.htc.com/adp.html and download fastboot.exe and put it in your c:\
Then, open command prompt, boot your phone into fastboot and plug it in via USB.
Type in:
Code:
cd\
Fastboot oem gencheckpt
This will boot you into recovery, if it works..

if you're using clockworkmod recovery, go to mounts and storage, and wipe everything apart from the sd-card (so wipe: boot, system, cache, userdata, sd-ext) Then try flashing again.
if you're not using clock, in fastboot USB, open cmd and type
Code:
cd c:\android-sdk/tools
fastboot wipe boot
fastboot wipe system
fastboot wipe userdata
fastboot wipe cache
fastboot wipe sd-ext (not sure about that one, never done that command with cmd over fastboot so might be wrong lol)
fastboot oem gencheckpt
I flashed a ROM - finally!
Finally!
I achieved success after a week or so trying.
I decided to flash a Gingerbread AOSP, & in the FAQ, the developer (Faryaab) said since I have my device S-OFF, I don't have to flash the build with A2SD.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1079469
After 1 try, it works!
Thank god. No more stuck at the boot screen.

OK thanks a lot.
even though I have solved my issue, I will take this into consideration if I have this kind of problem again.
I've had a look for a thread similar to this but I'm new to all of this, so if there is one, I haven't been able to find it. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. Even if it is only to direct me in the right direction.
As I said I'm a bit of a noob, I've been trying all day to root my HTC Desire, which I'd upgraded to Gingerbread 2.3.3 stock update from the HTC website. I was able to make it S-OFF but for some reason I found myself unable to install Clockwordmod Recovery. So i decided to follow this
ww.mikesouthby.co.uk/2010/08/htc-desire-downgrading-hboot-and-installing-custom-froyo-rom/ to downgrade to froyo and root it from there.. but when I went to turn on my phone after completely the steps shown, the htc logo flashes on and then the screen goes black, but I still hear the chimes.
I am able to access the bootloader screen, this is what is displayed, as I'm guessing as this was aid anyone who is willing to help me get my phone working again!

As I said, any help whatsoever in helping me to get my phone back to a functioning state would be greatly appreciated.
And sorry to anyone who becomes offended by any of the forum rules I may have broken!
Since you are S-Off already can you now access recovery from the bootloader screen? If yes, then try to download a new ROM. There are a lot of ROMs on the developers section. Do a full wipe and flash a different ROM
I'm a noob by XDA standards but from the looks of it it's just a bad ROM flash.
because you're S-OFF this makes your job a billion times easier.. all you have to do is flash recovery.
unzip the file I attached into c:\
download recovery, rename it to "recovery.img" (for simplicity, you'll see later) and also put it in c:\
then follow these steps:
Go to start menu, accessories, command prompt
in command prompt type the following commands:
Code:
cd\
fastboot erase recovery
fastboot erase cache
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot oem gencheckpt
you should now be in recovery, go to "mounts & storage" and wipe "system", "userdata", "cache" & "boot".
Once you've done that, simply flash a new ROM

If you're able to access recovery, it's a very simple task of wiping your phone and installing a new ROM.
If you for whatever reason can't, you will need to use a RUU to restore it to it's factory state, and root again.
Hi,
I have similar problem: I can boot to bootloader only.
I completed root and s-off process and installed new rom. Everything was great, but I didn't have enough memory for applications and I tried to partition SD card with ROM manager to enable a2sd. After I ran Rom manager, I found that RECOVERY options disappeared. And I decided to re s-off with alpharev and it was stacked at step 3 .
Is there still any option to make it alive?

check my guide and look at the boot problems section. I'm 100000% sure you can find your answer there mate
got a new desire (finally)
first thing i did was work out what version i had (yes i'm really noob!!)
Bravo is the 'normal' Desire which HAS a SIM card to work
BravoC is the CDMA Desire which is locked to a single provider and DOES NOT have a SIM card
Next i thought i'd flash a new ROM on my new Bravo
found the best guide IMO here:-
http://theunlockr.com/2011/08/02/ho...-android-phone-using-the-revolutionary-method
I say this is the best guide as all can be done in windows without boot into linux shells and burning ISO's etc & there's a you tube vid to watch as you do it!
best guide here if you happy to burn images and linux shells also ROM types explained really well here too...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1016084
I followed all steps apart from the last (optional ROM) with theunlockr guide.
then i used ROM MANGER App to install my 1st ROM - as this seemed the best and safest idea. This works well if you know what ROM type you want (refer to xda noob guide).
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=psmI8KmBNeY
WATCH this vid!!! helps you understand terms etc too.
All was well until I decided i wanted a ROM that requires HBOOT changes lol. so ROM MANAGER isnt the way to go although i still use it to update clockwork recovery.
HBOOT versions - jeez... a minefield...
CM7 Hboot 130MB System, 5MB Cache, 302MB Data
CM7r2 Hboot 145MB System, 5MB Cache, 287MB Data
DATA++ Hboot 180MB System, 5MB Cache, 252MB Data
STOCK Hboot 250MB System, 40MB Cache, 147MB Data
ALL AVAIL (and more) HERE :-
http://alpharev.nl/
being lazy (lol) and alpha rev needs a linux boot shell, burn an image blah blah i used flashbootcommander to flash HBOOT images straight from windows 7...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1193915
You need java runtimes & a for recovery HBOOT image from here:-
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=839640
reboot your phone in HBOOT (vol down & press pwr) plug into PC, run the FastbootCommanderV.1.51.jar
click on HBOOT/SPL button and select the HBOOT you want to use
click on RECOVERY button and select the recovery-bravo-3.0.0.5-r3.img you downloaded from above link)
click on FLASH SPL
click on FLASH RECOVERY
reboot phone!
all was well with my CM7r2 flashed hboot (press vol & pwr and its there in PINK which you have currently installed) untill i found a rom that requires CM7 hboot, you will get an error in fastbootcommander if you try to flash cm7 over cm7r2 so to perform a downgrade flash 'bravo_downgrade.img' from alpharev! first then flash cm7
CLOCKWORK RECOVERY use/features here:-
http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile...-and-how-to-use-it-on-android-complete-guide/
the only prob i had with it was to remember to use the trackball thing on phone rather than volume/pwr button for navigation and then clicking it can be used to enter/launch the selection lol
anyways hope this is some help to other noobs - basically if you want easy ROM changes use ROMMANAGER, if you want newer xda ROMs then be happy with flashing HBOOT.
thanks to all here and the search button

when is xxxxda cuming!?
Hello.
I have my wildfire that's practically 2 days ago that no
Continuous reboot of the white HTC screen.
All this because I moved some app on sd system
(link2sd, s-on, root, gold card,) having an urgent need for space,
seen that the partition was over 1gb ext. result:
almost 350 apps, many even expensive, its saved data, photos,
videos, notes etc.. all gone, with the joke that is not restarted.
I tried with bootloader, recovery, custom rom, hard reset etc.,
no nothing. What do I do? I throw it in for service since
will realize modding, or someone you know give me some advice?
Thank you for your attention.
Sorry for my English
try wiping dalkiv first, i think that's often problem that causes bootloops...
but if it's because you've lost some system apps, you might need to comoletely re-install system from scratch?
don't worry about your paid apps, once you get the system up and running again, you can re-load your google account and get them all back
Hello and thank you for attention.
The problem is that in recovery mode does not gives me the chance to wipe.
Not even hard reset works. I tried to install custom ROM without any results. I want to reinstall everything from scratch, is it possible?
thanks
as long as you can get to the recovery menu you should be ok.
when you press and hold volume down and power then choose recovery...what screen do you get to? is it a custom recovery like CWM (clockworkmod) or is it the stock htc recovery (which just shows some sort of caution logo i believe).
if you have only thehtc stock recovery, you need to get a PG76IMG.zip for custom recovery and put this on the root of your memory card, then restart the phone with volume down+power and it should start reading the PG76IMG.zip and install custom recovery.....
from here you'll have all the options you need to wipe everything etc...
once you have this up and running, what i tend to do if everything has gone wrong is to wipe EVERYTHING and start from scratch.
I go into mounts and storage and format everything, then coem out, choose wipe data/factory reset, then choose wipe cache, then advanced, wipe dalvik, wipe battery stats, fix permissions...
then turn off phone, choose factory reset from the bootloader menu, then bot into reovery again to install custom rom or stock rom.
hope this makes some sort of sense, this is all jsut off the top of my head mind.... :s
thanks now I try and let you know
I tried in bootloader mode with cwm recovery 5.0.2.8, and returns to the bootloader.
I installed the file pg761img. It reads CID incorrect.
Finally factory reset is accessible only in bootloader, because the device always crashes on htc white screen and when I do not restart the time.
What do you think?
if you are getting cid error, i think it means you need to make "goldcard" in order to use pg761img.zip to flash custom recovery
he should install the RUU it is stickied its gonna put your phone back to stock as if you just bought it from the store

may also still need to make goldcard though, I think I had to when I wanted to use RUU.
if you can't get around some RUU errors though, you can try using the rom.zip from the ruu, extract boot.img and system.img and use fastboot at command prompt to flash them?
no root
Help root permissions that are not forthcoming, now that a friend of mine put it back in place, I can not swirling.
I tried more than once with htc supertool v3 but no dice. I noticed, looking at the phone info
and the bootloader screen, some differences related to the rom and radio than before.
But I think the phone has the unlocked bootloader. Suggestions?

try installing root.zip from cwm recovery
ok now I try. I would explain the process please? I am afraid to make a 'more trouble
just boot into cwm recovery (which i'm presuming you have installed already? if not, just use any of the tutorials, you're s-off so should have no problem insatlling custom recovery using tutorial).
put root.zip on your sd card
boot into recovery by holding volume down and press power, then scroll to "recovery" and press power to select.
once in custom recovery, select to install zip fom sd card, select to choose zip file and choose the root.zip
no need to wipe anything, just install then reboot system and confirm it's working by launching app "superuser" and attempt to update from within the app....if it updates it will say "that was cool, do it again?"....else it will say "update failed, retry".
GAPPS disappeared
Hi, I finally solved the problem, but I have created a 'more. I installed the cwm recovery, followed by recovery I installed the zip file root. Everything perfect, it is installed superuser and then I installed from market to link link2sd 8gb sd (6.40 gb fat32 - 64mb-1gb ext3 linux swap) some apps including GMail, MARKET, MAPS AND SEARCH. The problem is that they are gone after a cleanup of the cache and the data, I also tried to install some packages from the recovery GAPPS do not install them. Some help?
if your apps are missing maybe sounds like the ext partition is bot being mounted?
run link2sd and there is an option to "recreate mont scripts", be sure to choose the correct partition type that you have created e.g. ext2, ext3, or ext4?
first things first: sorry for the same topic (loads here, but none helps / maybe i can't find the exact problem)
my phone hangs, recovery did not work, so i am on my own repair journey.
it's been two days but it is not a problem. too many guides (confused, read bortak's too, not sure which one works for my problem)
so maybe i need to settle it with a post.

what next (if i can get past the above)
- root the phone with unrevoked3
- install any custom rom
the process
- remove sim card and memory card from phone (OK)
- restart phone via left + power button
- connect the phone via fastboot usb (OK)
- enter few commands (OK):
fastboot flash hboot bravo_alphaspl.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot erase cache
- run RUU of image above. (OK)
- the phone reboots; and there is a red circle screen (FAILED, stuck at there)
i- so what am i doing wrong?
ii- once, i manage to complete successful boot, but once i tried to root via unrevoked (is this necessary for custom roms?), it failed again at the second reboot, with the red circle screen again. and now i can't get past the RUU.
any ideas? what is actually the problem?
i manage to turn it s-on via alpharev downgrader.
run the RUU again.
still red circle on boot up.

however if you want to install custom rom at this point, you don't actually need to root.
you are s-off with custom recovery. so you can already:
- boot into recovery
- nandroid backup your current setup
- full wipe
- flash rom of choice (check specific hboot requirements and sd-ext partitions for each rom)
you only need to root your current rom if you have apps and data you wish to backup and transfer them to new rom using something like titanium backup. make sure all your contacts are backed up to google, and sms with something like 'sms backup and restore'
succeess! thanks man.
i am confused with the need for s-off and root.
so that means i don't have to root to install a mod if i have already s-off!
used revolutionary to s-off + recovery (via revolutionary) - success!
used recovery clockwordmod to nandroid backup, wipe cache and install oxygen mod - success !
i am really happy!

glad you got it done, but no offence sounds like it would help to do a little more reading before you start flashing away.
root and s-off are subtly different, i would explain but bortak has recently done it again here
i also recommend reading all the guides here, should help your understanding of terminologies, procedures, sd partitions, hboots, memory stuff etc.
also when i said full wipe i meant the 'wipe data/factory reset' option as a minimum within recovery. wipe cache is something else. if you only wiped cache you'll likely start to get a lot of errors where bits of system from old rom and new rom get mixed up...
