[Q] Question about themeing - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note II

Can I just theme parts of the phone? For instance, can I theme the phone app and nothing else? I want to start theming on the Android platform but want to take it step by step. Also there are some nice themes for the Note II out there but they are for stock ROMs and they break the mods on a custom ROM. Can I just use part of one of these ROMs so that I don't break my mods?
Thanks

Yes you can just theme one app at s time. I've done it many times. You can also take the themed parts and apply them to you custom ROM there is a really good guide in the Verizon theme section caked on device theming. Check it out it's actually really easy.

I think one can do this with sense roms just no body has done any mods for this... the only rom i think this can be done very easily is the MIUI rom for evo. As for sense roms i havent seen any mods for what you are asking for... depends on your rom

[Req] Clean / Stock Gingerbread THEME

I posted this to make a request from our skilled theme makers to build a clean and stock looking ginger bread theme, I would like to request some specifics for the theme, no fancy round icons on the notification pull down, the stock icons or the same icons used by darky's theme is perfect and no theme branding because it really irks me the most to see any theme branding on a theme.
Im also sure a lot of people here would love to have a stock+clean GB theme, they might even donate if its good!
4 lock screen would be one of the things I also want on the theme
+1 with all the wonderful themes currently available, I cant believe there isnt a clean stock gb available.

When do you use all the themes you are asking for?
You could pull the framework folder out of my ROM, because it's JPY based.

Im not sure if your referring that question to be but I've only requested for one theme as far as I can remember.
Anyway that theme is for the captivate and does not have 4 lock screens.

Many Captivate ROMs are i9000 based.
Actually an unchanged i9000 ROM would run on a Captivate. A few bugs that custom kernels fix, but it would run.

Why don't you take the files from Darky's ROM?

His dialer and contacts apk are half themed, is there a way to revert it back to stock ? Can you point out the specific file names needed to be swapped from stock images and his mms theme has the green font which looks bad how can we change it back to regular white font and stock theme?
Ignore this post, sorrry.
up for this request
+1
I'd also like a clean GB theme...
even if mambo04's gingermix v4 theme comes very close to that... it could be a little bit "cleaner" (or lets say "stock looking")

Not sure on all of this (someone more knowledgeable jump in here)
Sense ROMs need Sense themes
AOKP ROMs need AOKP (CM7, 9, 10) Theme Changer (T-Mobile engine) themes
MIUI ROMs need MIUI themes
...you get the idea.
Certain Launchers (home replacements) will theme part of the UI, like icons and such (ADW, GO launchers come to mind)
Check out this thread for more info...

I'm no recognized dev or contributor, but i believe to edit for any specific rom,you will need to decompile the systemUI.apk/framework-res.apk and if its sense based also decompile and edit rthe com.htc.resources.apk's and thats just for the system itself not apps and settings they are individual.I hope this helped.

themes for jedi roms

Hey guys I'm new to this and I'm currently running the jedi rom, I wanted to know is there specific theme launcher that I need for the jedi.
You dont need any specific launcher at all, it all boils down to preference. I personally like HoloLauncher HD because of how customizable it is. Most people use something like nova luancher, adw or trebuchet.

If you're looking to theme the rom it doesn't use a theme chooser. Just go the the themes section and flash one you like the same way you flashed the rom.
Just got next launcher on my Jedi Master 9 w/ BG theme, and although im still playing around with everything, there is definitely a very unique setup here...
Flashaholics should definitely try this setup as a DD for a few days!
Although Next Launcher is a pretty penny, one thing ive seen, worth almost half that itself, is atleast there is finally a way to get rid of homescreen gridlocks for icons/widgets!! One, can truly customize their phone and when you add in some of the other theme ingredients from a BG or CinHD, etc flash and it all comes out pretty amazing

It's A LOT easier if you just take any ROM that you like and just put a theme over it.
Like for example I am currently running patwip's Unofficial CM 10.1.3 latest release, and there are themes available like this : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tmobile.theme.HTC.EleganceX
21Mb download and everything, icons, status bar, colors, settings look like an HTC Sense UI
If you prefer using the stock ROM, simply download a good launcher like Go Launcher EX Prime, it supports and has 1000s of themes, several of which have Sense UI.
But this theme style will be restricted only to your app drawer and homescreen, so not as thorough as in CM.
SenseUI can be ported, but only to devices with similar hardware. You can't just port the launcher because it has many dependencies including the kernel. You pretty much have to port a whole sense ROM which would be a pain for any dev to undertake, several have tried and failed on other devices. So it's just easier to theme a launcher.
EDIT (found some more info) : Apparently, the framework for HTC is closed source which means devs can't use it and make it public fearing legal consequences.
Hope that helps answer your questions

I get that, but I like mentioned in my last post. SenseUI launcher cannot be ported because the framework is closed source and has strong dependencies on the hardware of HTC phones, so I was suggesting alternatives.
Besides, CM themeing is not restricted to just icons and looks of the launcher, depending on the theme/version the following things are themed : frameworks-res, systemui, settings, contacts, mms/sms + widget, phone, trebuchet, browser, apollo + widget, keyboard.
So it gives a pretty good feel of a ported launcher without compromising much memory or functionality.
